Hudson, Leona B.
MALONE, N.Y. - Leona Brown Hudson died peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 8, 2010. She resided at Franklin County Nursing Home, Malone, N.Y. She was 89.
She was born in Marathon, N.Y., and until recently, lived most of her life in Delaware.
Leona graduated from Binghamton, N.Y., Nursing School and worked at Kent General Hospital for 27 years. Mrs. Hudson was a wonderful mother, grandma, sister and friend. Her favorite saying was "It will all work out." She started every day by saying, "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." Leona cherished her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Hudson was a member of the Viola U.M. Church, Fruitland Grange, Kent County Links, past leader of Paradise 4-H club, and charter member of the VFW Auxiliary #6921.
In addition to her parents, Norman N. and Mildred G. Brown, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel H. Hudson Jr.; sister, Marion Robinson; daughter-in-law, Susan H. Hudson; and sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Hudson.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford W. and Judy Hudson of Harrington, Charles A. and Barbara Hudson of Chateaugay, N.Y.; daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie H. and Chuck Armstrong of Wheaton, Ill.; brothers, Thomas A. Brown of Marathon, N.Y., and Lawrence L. Brown of Marathon, N.Y.; sisters, Laura Meachill of Poulsbo, Wash., and Elinor Banks of Livingston Manor, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and spouses, David C. and Victoria Hudson of Milford, Karen H. and Michael McGee of Russellville, Ky., Robert D. Armstrong of Chicago, Ill., Daniel R. and Heather Armstrong of Wheaton, Ill., Jennifer S. Hudson of Viola, Ryan C. Hudson of Chateaugay, N.Y., and Melissa K. Hudson of Viola; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Felton-Viola U.M. Church, PO Box 247, Felton, DE 19943; or to the Delaware Alzheimer's Association.

Rothermel, Lindsey Renee
FELTON - Lindsey Renee Rothermel, of Felton, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Christiana Hospital. She was 22.
Lindsey worked as a beautician, and loved spending time with her family, her fiance, and especially her daughter Briannah. She loved family celebrations and dinners. She also loved going to the mall and shopping and spending time on her computer and phone.
She waited anxiously every year for her birthday vacation at the beach with mom and dad and her daughter.
She was greatly loved and will be missed forever.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mary Evelyn Curry; and great-maternal grandmother, Bessie Burdziak.
In addition her to parents, Debra and Robert Rothermel of Felton, she is survived by a daughter, Briannah Rothermel; sister, Tara Turcotte Leyanna and her husband Timothy; niece and nephew, Katelynn and Connor Brown; grandparents, Harold and Shirley Rothermel, and Henry Nutter; aunts, Sandra Rothermel, and Lisa Rains; fiance, John Warrington; and lifelong friend, Nicole Porter.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Donations can be made to the Felton Bank, P.O. Box 266, Felton, DE 19943, for the Lindsey Rothermel Memorial Fund to make provisions for her daughter Briannah.

Sondberg, Harry S.
HARRINGTON — Harry S. Sondberg, of Harrington, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010. He was 65.
Mr. Sondberg served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Sondberg's recent employer was the National Security Agency at Fort Meade for 25 years, as a computer operator. Before that, he worked for the Department of Defense for 5 years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling.
In addition to his parents, Chris and Nellie Sondberg, he was preceded in death by his sister, Maryellen Johnson.
He is survived by her loving wife of 36 years, Judi Sondberg of Harrington; brother, Chris "Billie" Sondberg of Nags Head, N.C., and John Sondberg of Crofton, Md.; and sister, Julie Bell of West Point, Va.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, Md. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., this evening at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association National Office 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

Grant, Kathi M.
HARRINGTON - Kathi M. Grant, of Harrington, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 43.
Kathi was a homemaker. She was regarded as a great artist who could draw beautiful art as well as make great piñatas. She loved her crafts and made numerous paper mache masterpieces over the years.
Her favorite activity was going to the beach and spending time next to the ocean. She enjoyed collecting driftwood, sand, and rocks that washed up on the shore. Whenever possible, she would vacation at the beach.
Kathi was known as very outgoing where everybody was a friend. She could be blunt at times, and was known for saying things like it was. She was very sentimental about birthdays and holidays and made time to recognize even the little things.
She made sure her sons went to church every Sunday, and she looked forward to going herself and spent countless hours talking about the Bible and Bible stories. She lived her beliefs and believed in giving to all. Her family was her world and she accepted all her son's friends as her own children. She especially had a soft spot for Michael, Amanda, and Mark. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by a cousin, James Redden Jr.; and uncle, Gary Redden.
She is survived by her parents, James Grant of Seaford and Nancy Grant of Harrington; sons, Matthew D. Grant and his girlfriend Miranda Wright of Harrington, and Caleb C. Grant of Harrington; maternal grandmother, June Severe of Harrington; siblings, Maria Redden of Harrington, Linda Young of Harrington, Jimmy Grant, Larry Grant, Donny Grant and his wife Sharon, Danny Grant and his wife Jennifer, Megan Grant and David Grant; niece, Christina Butler; nephew, Sean Colbert; uncles, James Redden Sr., and Roger Redden; and aunt, Lois Pinson.
Services will be 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Harrington, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
Hrupsa, Irma M.
FELTON - Irma M. Hrupsa, of Felton, passed away at Delaware Hospice Center on Oct. 31, 2010, surrounded by her loving and caring family. She was 90. Born March 1920, in Ostratice, Czechoslovakia, to Zigmond and Otilia Jankovick.
In 1937, she came to the United States to live with her cousin and in 1939, she met the love of her life, Charlie. They married in 1941, bought a farm and raised their family.
Irma was a home maker and what a loving home she kept. She was a most excellent cook! She combined European and American cooking and what a treat! She loved her family, friends and neighbors who visited her on the farm. She always made everyone feel welcome and right at home. She was also well known for her exemplary sewing, crocheting and clothes making abilities.
She will be remembered by all who knew her best as a remarkable loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who instilled love, devotion and loyalty to her family. Throughout her illness, she was always a regal lady that loved to joke and kid around without any complaint. She was always filled with love, happiness and joy.
Mrs. Hrupsa was a most faithful member of St. Bernadette's Church for many years. She leaves behind a most loving family who will sorely and greatly miss her. She was greatly loved by all family, friends and surrounding neighbors. Her spirit will remain in all who knew her best.
Special thanks to her caregiver Clara Orozco and Joy Bishop as well as the most dedicated and caring people of Delaware Hospice.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Ann Pearson of Felton; a beloved great-granddaughter, Jessica Pearson of Felton; son-in-law, Charles Pearson of Harrington; brothers, Joseph Jankovick and Tony Jankovick of Czechoslovakia; sister, Bertha Horska of Czechoslovakia; and numerous cousins throughout the world.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hrupsa; daughter, Marie Pearson; and four brothers.
Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at St. Bernadette's Church, Harrington. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday evening, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952. Burial will be in Hopkins Cemetery, Felton.
