TaBois, Clarence J.

Clarence J. TaBois Age 85 of Newark, DE passed away on Friday, September 19, 2003 at Christiana Hospital.

Clarence started his career at Tidewater Oil Co. in Bayonne, NJ. After serving 4 1/2 years in the U.S. Army during World War II, he returned to Tidewater Oil Co. He was transferred to Delaware Refinery (Getty Oil Co.) in 1956 where he worked as a maintenance supervisor. He retired in October 1980 after a total of 40 years and became a member of the Getty Retirees Group. His memberships include the American Legion Post #10, Newark, DE, the Holy Family Catholic Church where he was also a member of the Holy Family Leisure Group, and the Newark Senior Center where he bowled with the Newark Seniors at Blue Hen Lanes. He also bowled with the Pleasant Hill Seniors at Pleasant Hill Lanes in Newport. He won a Gold Medal in the Senior Olympics in Dover, DE in 2001. Mr. TaBois was an avid swimmer and golfer and recorded a hole-in-one at Delcastle Golf Club. He enjoyed woodworking and crafts.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy (Buchalski) TaBois; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Donald McGee of Delaware City, and Michele and Richard Barbera of Newark; 4 grandchildren and spouses, Lynanne and William Gares, Brian and Marcella McGee, Mark Barbera and Ryan Barbera; a great-grandson, Justin Gares; and a sister, Louise Boyle of Newark.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 23 at 11 am at Holy Family Church, Chestnut Hill Rd. and Gender Dr. Newark. Friends may call on Monday evening between 6-8 pm at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Rds, Wilmington. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Rd., Newark, DE 19713 or the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, 100 W. 10th St., Wilm., DE 19801.

Utberg, Charles Richard

MARYDEL -- Charles Richard Utberg, "Dick" 70, of Marydel died Monday, June 17, 2002, in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital, Dover.

He was born on October 11, 1931 in Emsorth, PA, son of the late Oscar and Elizabeth Utberg.

Mr. Utberg graduated from Pavillion High School. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served two years in Korea.

He worked at the Jell-O Plant in Leroy, New York until its closing in 1964. In August of that year he moved his family to Dover to work at General Foods in the position of packaging mechanic. He retired in 1994 with 37 years service.

Mr. Utberg was a member of the BPOE Lodge #1903, Dover.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed time spent at his Elks Lodge.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son Richard Charles Utberg in 1971 and daughter Lori in 1956 and a grandson Brandon Deibel in 1994.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lois Joan Utberg, a son Ronald Utberg and his wife Joanna, a daughter Brenda Deibel and her husband Paul both of Marydel, four granddaughters Christina, Kimberly and Courtney Utberg, and Brandee Deibel all of Marydel, and two grandsons Jeremy Clayton of Smyrna and Jason Deibel of Bridgeville, a brother Larry Utberg of Perry, NY, and his very special mother-in-law that he thought the world of, Bertha McCaughey, of Geneseo, NY.

Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Elks National Foundation c/o 1035 W. Forrest Avenue, Dover, DE 19904 or to the Marydel Volunteer Fire Company 110 Fire House Lane, Marydel, DE 19964.

Immediately following the interment, family and friends are invited to attend a fellowship meal at the Elks Lodge, Forrest Avenue, Dover.

Usilton, Grace E.

Grace E. Usilton, of Smyrna, passed away at home on Tuesday February 13 with her family at her side. She was 70.

She was born in Sudlersville, MD on July 3, 1936 the daughter of the late Silas and Elsie Weller. She lived in the Sudlersville area for most of her life, and moved to Smyrna ten years ago.

She was a homemaker and had been a member of the Lillian Smith Senior Center, Clayton.

Grace will be remembered as a kind, caring, and compassionate person to everyone who knew her. She enjoyed country music, going out to eat, and shopping. She was most proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Earl Usilton; two brothers, Howard and Alfred Weller; and three sisters, Estel Hadaway; Elsie Mae Wood; and Mary Addie Schelts.

She is survived by a son; David Smith and his wife Tammy, of Sudlersville; three daughters, Joyce Morris and her husband Charlie, of Smyrna; Andrea Sammons and her husband Matt, of Dover; and Barbara Russum and her husband Ron, of Greensboro, MD; a step-son, Willard Earl Usilton Jr. and his wife Linda, of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren; Michael Usilton, of Smyrna; Steven Usilton, of Secretary, MD; Dawn Cordrey, of Greensboro; Megan Smith, of Sudlersville; Kristen Usilton, of Columbia, SC; and Michelle Sells, of Dover; a brother, Charles Weller, of Sudlersville; a sister, Frances Ruff, of Templeville, MD; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday February 17 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call Friday evening from 7-9:00 PM.

Interment will be in Templeville Cemetery, Templeville, MD.

If desired, contributions may be sent to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.

Yates, James J.

CAMDEN - James J. Yates of Camden died Friday, February 6, 2004 in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was 64.

Mr. Yates was born on February 23, 1939 in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963.

Mr. Yates worked for the United States Postal Service from 1965 to 1977 and afterwards in 1987 was owner of J & L Burner Service and retired in 1997 due to his health.

He was a member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge #203, a member of American Legion Post #2 since 1997 and a member of Harmony Lodge #13 since 1998.

Mr. Yates was also a member of Solid Rock Church.

He was a big fan of blue grass music.

Mr. Yates was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was an avid baseball fan and loved to fish and build bird houses.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years Linda Yates, mother and stepfather Elizabeth and Leroy Stoops of Harmony, PA, a daughter Yvonne Weber and her husband Glen of Oregon, ; three sons Donald Wood and his wife Kim of Magnolia, James Yates of Little Creek and Norman Wood and his wife Penny, a brother Jerry Yates and his wife Sally of Export, PA; eight grandchildren Julian and Jason Weber, James, Donald and Lindsey Wood, Samantha and Taylor Yates and Whitney Wood, mother and father-in-law Edna and Donald Williams of Dover and faithful companion Scooter.

Friends may call 7 to 9:00 p.m. Monday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the funeral home to help with expenses.

Umstead, Daniel Wayne

MAGNOLIA - Daniel Wayne Umstead of Magnolia, died Saturday, July 29, 2006, in Christiana Hospital from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident. He was 44.

Mr. Umstead was born July 15, 1962, in Pennsylvania.

He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Umstead was employed with J.J. White Company in Delaware City.

He enjoyed fishing, sailing, shopping and dancing. He was also an avid camper.

Mr. Umstead was a member of the American Legion and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin R. Umstead Jr.; a brother, Darryl M. Umstead; and a sister, Florence I. Umstead.

He is survived by his wife, Lyubov Umstead; his mother, Thelma P. Umstead; three sons, Michael Wayne Umstead, Ryan James Umstead, and Artem Alex Hutsalyuk; a brother, Dennis Umstead and his wife Sylvia; three sisters, Elaine Renninger and her husband Jim of Conneunt, Ohio, Laura LaVan and her husband Allan of Oil City, Pa., and Amanda McMunn and her husband Tom of Titusville, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be noon Wednesday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call two hours earlier.

Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Legion, Walter L. Fox Post 2, PO Box 298, Dover, DE 19901.
