Upole, Stephene

Stephene Upole, 66, of Wilmington, died at the Wilmington Hospital on Tuesday, April 24, 2001.

Mrs. Upole was a pantry supervisor at the Hotel DuPont for 11 years and at the Radisson Hotel for 13 years before her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 1970.

She is survived by her sons, James E. and Richard C. Upole, both of Wilmington; a sister, Irene Slawski, also of Wilmington; a brother, Walter 'Gus - Guzniczak of Harley, DE; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private. Arrangements by Mealey Funeral Homes.

Donald M. Urban

Of Bear, DE, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at his home. He was born July 13, 1935 in Chester, Delaware Co., PA to the late Edgar F. and Ethel (Hart) Urban. A veteran, he served in the US Navy from 1954-57. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1990 having served as Postmaster at Harrington, Delaware and Salem, New Jersey.

He was predeceased by parents; daughter, Donna; brothers Edgar, Russell, and Harris and sisters Phyllis Williams, Marilyn "Molly" Goslin, Audrey Watkins and Shirley Urban; survived by his wife of 32 years, Joy (Waksmonski), five sons, Brad of Washington, DC, Bret and Troy of Bear; Gary of Long Beach, CA; Duane Neumann of Newark; two grandchildren, Kandace and Duane; and brother, Ralph (Margie) Urban of Newtown Square, PA; and sisters Dorothy (Fred) Warfield of Boothwyn, PA; Lois (Jay) Kelly of Chadds Ford, PA; and Joan (William) Preston of Prescott, AZ.

Visitation will be Sunday evening June 18, from 6-8 pm at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone & Milltown Roads, Wilmington. Private burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Don's memory may be made to the ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Road, Ste. 260, Ambler, PA 19002-2755.

David J. Napolski

Age 39, of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly at his sister's residence on Thursday, August 20, 2009.

Born in Wilmington, DE, David was a graduate of Christiana High School and of Delaware Technical & Community College where he pursued a degree in Criminal Justice. He was a skilled carpenter and did general contracting work. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter. His other interests included love of animals, reading mysteries, watching the History Channel and the Dallas Cowboys.

David will be dearly missed by his daughter, Danielle M. Napolski of Wilmington; his mother, Sharon A. DeMasi of Newark; his sisters, Susan M. League with whom he lived and Deborah A. McGuckin and her husband, Patrick of Hockessin; his maternal grandfather, Peter DeMasi Sr. of Newark; seven nephews, two nieces and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 26th at 11 AM at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, where friends are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Danielle Napolski Education Fund c/o Wilmington Trust Company, 4899 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.

Robert F. Naczi

Age 80, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, March 26, 2008.

Born in Wallingford, CT, Mr. Naczi was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Fazekas) Naczi. He served his country in the US Navy. He graduated from Yale University in 1948 with a degree in chemical engineering. For over 35 years, he worked for the DuPont Company, retiring in 1989. Robert's hobbies included naval history, especially of World War II, and collecting stamps. He was a published author in Proceedings magazine, a naval publication. A good, practicing Traditional Catholic, he was a member of St. Hilary's Church in Baltimore, MD. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph J., of Wilmington and his sisters, Margaret and Anna of Connecticut.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Robert will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Mary (Cox) Naczi; his son, Dr. Robert F. C. Naczi of Dover, DE; his daughters, Marie Michur of Silver Spring, MD., Anne L. Naczi of Delmar, DE, Barbara J. Naczi of Frederick, MD, and Sister Therese Marie, F.M. of Round Top, NY; 10 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. His family is greatly indebted to both his nurse Joan Dunay and nurse's aide Lucretia Gordon of VNA.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, between 6 and 8 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, 703 N. Broom Street, Wilmington, where the Rosary will be said at 7:30 PM. Additional calling hours will be held on Saturday morning at the funeral home between 10 AM and 11 AM, where funeral services will begin at 11 AM. A Requiem Mass will also be celebrated on Monday, March 31, at 11 AM at the chapel at St. Joseph's Novitiate, Round Top, NY, where interment will follow at the adjoining cemetery.

Nally, Michael Justin

Michael (Justin) Nally, 18, of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 20, 2003.

Mr. Nally attended Dickinson High School, graduating in 2003 at the top of his class. He had aspirations of going to law school and becoming a sports agent. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed playing basketball and loved to watch the Phillies and Eagles with his grandfather.

He was predeceased by his grandmother, Rose Nally. He will be dearly missed by his parents, Michael J. Nally and Nancy Saienni and her husband, Gene; his sister, Jennifer and brother, Jordan, both of Wilmington; his grandparents, Charles and Harriet Hindsley; step-grandmother, Connie Saienni. Also surviving are stepsisters, Gina and Danielle Saienni, longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth Dove; nephew and godson, Matteo Nally, niece, Julianna Nally, and nephew, Salvatore Saienni; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; best friend, Jimmy Castellano; and beloved dog, Buster.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 24th at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th & Dupont Streets, Wilmington. Friends are invited to call on Thursday evening between 6 PM and 9 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. Entombment will be at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the Matteo Nally Trust Fund at any Wilmington Trust Branch.

Napolitano, Sarah L.

Sarah L. Napolitano, of Smyrna, passed away Wednesday February 17, 2010 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. She was 83.

She was born in Dunmore, PA, the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret DeAngelo.

She worked in the clothing industry for many years, and moved with her family to Smyrna in 1989.

She enjoyed camping, roller skating, and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Napolitano.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Domnick J. Napolitao; two sons, Domnick S. Napolitano and wife Naomi, of Smyrna; and James C. Napolitano, of Felton; two grandchildren, Mark Napolitano, of Cape Cod, MA; and Leslie Rodriguez and husband Robert, of St.Georges; four great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Brandyn, Kaitlyn, and Giovanna; two sister-in-laws, Lena DeAngelo, and Gina DeAngelo; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 1:00 PM Saturday February 20 at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Ransom Lane and South St., Smyrna. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Burial will be privately held in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Dr., Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.

Elsbeth Nagel

Of Milford, Delaware, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Christiana Hospital in Newark. She was 80.

Mrs. Nagel was born on June 23, 1928 in Germany, daughter of the late Karl and Ottilie (Scheig) Jaeger.

She was a homemaker.

Elsbeth enjoyed knitting, quilting, gardening and china painting.

She was a member of the Milford Senior Center, the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford and the Quilters Gild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Nagel.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul William and Cheryl Farrar and Karl Raymond and Jacqueline Farrar, all of Mt. Airy, MD; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Klothilde Stoecker of Germany and Lucie and Eric Balck of Milford and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Avenue, Milford.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial contributions to the Milford Senior Center, 111 Park Avenue, Milford, DE, 19963.

Helen Roll Nagle

Age 77, died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 7, 2005.

Helen worked for the State of Delaware, Dept. of Labor for 20 years. She retired in 1988.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James Nagle who died in 1989. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia F. Nagle of Newark, Karen L. Nagle of Wilmington, Susan K. Dunn of West Valley, UT; her two son-in-laws George Potts and Bobby Dunn; her brothers, Frank and Nicholas Roll both of Berwick, PA; her sisters, Catherine Venditti of Berwick, PA and Sophie MacKenizie of Norfolk, PA; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

The graveside service is private. Interment in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
