Yakal, Frances M.

Frances M. Yakal, age 82, died Sat., May 8, 2004 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Frances was a loving homemaker who was devoted to her family, friends, and especially her grandsons and great- grandson, Joseph. She also enjoyed gardening.

Frances was preceded in death by her son Joseph A. Yakal and her daughter Barbara A. Yakal. She is survived by her son, Augustus M. Yakal of Newport; grandsons, Kenny Yakal and Brian Yakal; great-grandson Joseph Yahal; and sister, Elizabeth Gardner, all of Wilmington.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere, on Wed., May 12th at 9:30. Friends may call at the funeral home Wed. morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

Dorothy C. Yarrington

Age 77, of Wilmington, DE, died Monday, April 9, 2007. Born in Wilmington, she was the daughter of Cornelius and Dorothy Bonk and was a hairdresser. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 14th at 2 PM at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. Arrangements by Mealey Funeral Homes.

Mary Yacabell

Age 94, died Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at Victoria Manor Nursing Center in Cape May, NJ.

Mary and her husband, Lewis, owned and operated many businesses in and around the City of Wilmington for many years.

Mary immigrated from Serra San Bruno, Calabria, Italy at age 12, she settled in the Wilmington area. She also spent many summers in North Wildwood, and always enjoyed time spent at the Jersey Shore with her family and friends.

She was Treasurer of Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality at St. Peter's Cathedral in Wilmington, and St. Ann's School Grandparents Group in Wildwood.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis P. Yacabell who died in 1973, her daughter, Marylene Croce and her brother, Samuel DeLapo. She is survived by her children Lewis P. Yacabell III and his wife Barbara, Angelo R. Yacabell, Gregory E. Yacabell, Dolores DiIenno, Gloria Radka and her husband Eugene, Ursula Jackson and her husband James, and Christine Manri and her husband Ken; 19 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's Cathedral, 6th & West Sts., Wilmington on Mon. afternoon Sept. 8th at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere Mon. morning from 11 to 12:30 p.m. Interment in Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Sisters of Charity, 500 West St., Wilmington, DE 19801.

Coxe, Jr., Robert D.

Army

Robert D. Coxe, Jr. of Clayton, DE went home to be with the Lord on Sunday September 19, 2010.

He was 60.

Mr. Coxe was born March 16, 1950 in Wilmington, DE the son of the late Robert D. Coxe Sr. and Beatrice Lyons Coxe.

He was very patriotic and proud to have served his country honorably during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.

He retired as a Service Foreman for Hercules, Inc. in after 25 years of service and most recently worked as a Police Officer for Capitol Police at the Superior Court House in Georgetown, DE.

Mr. Coxe was a hard working man who enjoyed his work and liked dressing in uniform. He enjoyed taking care of his wife and loved all of his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Billy, Chucky, and Johnny Coxe; and a sister, Lizzy.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; 3 daughters, Marcy Duffy and her husband Randall of Wyoming, DE, Tammy Barr of Dover, DE, and Deanna Lopez and her husband Joseph of Camden, DE; a son, Robert D. Coxe, III and his wife Felicia of Smyrna, DE; a sister, Doris Rivera and her husband Carmelo of Glasgow, DE; a brother Avery Gray and his wife Marie of West Chester, PA; and 9 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 12 noon in the Townsend Freewill Baptist Church located at 4519 S. DuPont Pkwy, Townsend, DE, where friends may call at 10 am.

Burial will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Faries Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.

Haff, Arthur Dudley

Arthur Dudley "Dud" Haff of Middletown, Delaware passed away on Saturday May 15, 2010 in Christiana Hospital.

He was 94.

Mr. Haff was born January 16, 1916 in Hempstead, New York the son of the late Arthur R. Haff and Lillian Post Haff.

He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Baltimore, Maryland after over 30 years of work as Naval Architect/Marine Engineer.

Mr. Haff was a member of the Naval Architects Society and the MOT Senior Center in Middletown which he attended on a regular basis 4 to 5 days a week. He enjoyed walking in his later years and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America as a child and as an adult. Mr. Haff enjoyed the water and boating. He loved sailing in his earlier days, and migrated to power boats as he got older.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Dixon Haff in 2003.

He is survived by a son, A. Dixon Haff and his wife Bonnie of Middletown; a granddaughter, Andrea L. Springer, her husband Mark A., and their son Joshua A. of Magnolia, Delaware; and a grandson, A. Derek Haff of Millersville, Maryland.

Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Gilbert "Pop" Attix, 82

Clayton -- Gilbert Masten Attix, Sr. passed away on August 22, 2010 at his home. "Pop" was a hard working man who was loved by everyone that knew him. He was long-time member of the Carpenter's Union Local #626, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed rabbit hunting and running his dogs along with working outside around the house.

He was born July 6th, 1928 to the late Earl S. and Mary E. Attix. He was preceded in death by his sister Isabel Jarman and his brother Donald Attix. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Janet Attix and 6 children of whom loved him dearly. Gilbert M. Attix, II and his wife Darla, Earl Attix and his friend, Cathy Beisner, Gary Attix and his wife Tammy Newell, Dale Taylor and his wife Vicky, Teri Mannering and her husband Mike, and Pam Berry and her companion Jack Gearhart. He also left behind 10 grandchildren and 6 great grand-children all of whom will miss him.

Pop was blessed with many good friends and a very close knit family. He will be greatly missed by his sisters, Emily Woodall and her husband Jessie, Thelma Pryor, Clara Marie Gravatt, and Joanie Pratt and her husband Wright. He will also be missed by his brothers, Billy Attix and his wife Ellen, and Robert Attix and his wife Carol, as well as, sister-in-law Gloria Attix, and a brother-in-law, Ricky.

Pop also leaves a very special friend and co-worker of many years Jaye "Brownie" Brown.

Memorial services will be Friday August 27, 2010 at 11am in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends and family may call on Thursday from 4-6pm. A gathering will be held at American Legion in Smyrna, DE immediately following the visitation Thursday evening where everyone is welcome.

Interment will be in Greensboro Cemetery on Friday afternoon where family and friends are welcome.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Heartland Hospice, 261 Chapman Road Newark, DE 19702.

Erbele, Doris Evelyn

Doris Evelyn Erbele died on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Pinnacle Health Care Center in Smyrna, DE.

Services for Mrs. Erbele will be scheduled for early to mid next week in her home town of Louisville, KY.

Godfrey, Mary Gladys

Mary Gladys Godfrey of Smyrna, Delaware died Sunday April 18, 2010 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE.

She was 19.

Mary was born February 27, 1991 in Wilmington, DE the daughter of Scottie Godfrey of Wilmington and Christine M. Morrison of Clayton, DE.

Mary most recently enjoyed working as Greeter for Applebee's in Middletown and enjoyed babysitting because she loved kids.

She loved going to the beach, following Eagles football and listening to music and dancing. She routinely attended little league baseball games in Smyrna.

She was scheduled to complete her High School Diploma from Groves Academy next week and was looking forward to furthering her education and becoming an Ultrasound Technician.

In addition to her birth parents, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Sandra Huebschman and her husband Martin; maternal grandfather, Michael Gaydosh; paternal grandparents, Augustus and Sharon Johnson; great grandmother Irene Mugrage; soon to be step-father, Edward Thomas; 3 brothers, Sean Morrison, Dylan Bottomley, and Damien Thomas; 4 sisters, Amber Riggs, Casey Bottomley, Madison Bottomley, and Rachel Thomas; another baby sibling on the way, that she was very excited about; Uncle Mike; Uncle Randy; Aunt Crystal; Uncle Gus; Great Aunt Brenda; several cousins; her boyfriend, Andrew Felicetti; her best friend Pamela Dunning; and many other friends and extended family members.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 7-9pm and on Friday, April 23, 2010 from 11am-12noon in the Faries Funeral Chapel of 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware. Funeral services will begin Friday at noon.

Burial will be in Old Drawyers Cemetery Odessa, Delaware.
