Nichols, Mary T.

Mary T. Nichols of Clayton, DE passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE.

She was 81.

Mrs. Nichols was born June 19, 1929 in Dover, DE.

She worked for many years with her husband as an Appliance Store Owner in Miami, FL before moving to Clayton.

Mrs. Nichols was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Smyrna, DE, and enjoyed volunteering her time for the DE Hospital for the Chronically Ill gift shop in Smyrna.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Trigo and Debbie Nichols.

She is survived by her husband, Robert N. Nichols; her son Larry Lavender; and 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 11am in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, DE where friends and family may call one hour before the services.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna, DE.

Ozechowski, Joyce L.

Joyce L. Ozechowski of Clayton, Delaware, passed away Thursday July 8, 2010 in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital.

She was 58.

Mrs. Ozechowski was born June 22, 1952 in Chester, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Sophie Ochrymowicz Lovelund of Glen Mills, PA and the late Stanley Lovelund.

She worked as an order processor for Phoenix Steel in Claymont, DE for 17 years before retirement.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Michael E. Ozechowski; a son, Carl M. Ozechowski of Clayton; a daughter, Leah C. Ozechowski; four brothers, Thomas Lovelund of Newark, DE, Dennis Lovelund and Rose Faladella of Boothwyn, PA, Curtis Lovelund of Glen Mills and Philip Lovelund and Sharon Krutz of Lincoln University, PA.

Services will be Tuesday July 13, 2010 at 11am in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends may call two hours prior to the services.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery Dover, DE.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way Suite 205 New Castle, DE 19720.

Horsey, Lucille L.

Lucille L. Horsey of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away Friday May 7, 2010 in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware.

She was 85.

Mrs. Horsey was born March 29, 1925 the daughter of the late Fletcher Hurd and Lulu Little Hurd.

She was the Secretary and Treasurer of Parkview RV Center in Smyrna for 38 years, which she co-founded with her late husband, Robert G. Horsey.

Mrs. Horsey was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Smyrna of which she was an active member of the Harvey's Group and she was also a member of Delaney Methodist Church near Clayton, Delaware.

She loved her roses and enjoyed her bird feeders and watching birds. She spent a lot of time traveling with her husband where they enjoyed 17 cruises and countless camping trips together. She also enjoyed spending time her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert G. Horsey and Randy K. Horsey; and she was the last of 13 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda L. Wright and her husband Gordon of Smyrna; her son, Rick D. Horsey and his wife Sharon of Dover; two grandsons, Jonathan Vendrick of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Ryan Horsey of Smyrna; four granddaughters, Amy West of Middletown, Delaware, Leah Schwartz of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Jenny Strayer of Smyrna and Randell Horsey of Dover; and 7 great grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday May 11, 2010 at 1pm in Asbury United Methodist Church located on 20-24 Mt. Vernon Street, Smyrna, Delaware, where friends may call at 11am.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Asbury United Methodist Church PO Box 330, Smyrna, DE 19977.

Rice, Mary E.

Mary E. Rice of Dover, Delaware passed away Wednesday June 16, 2010 at Heritage at Dover Assisted Living.

She was 84.

Mrs. Rice was born July 13, 1925 in Dover, the daughter of the late James Marshall and Stella Killen.

Mary and her first husband, Sam Burrows, established Sambo's Tavern in Leipsic, Delaware in 1953.

She was a homemaker whom enjoyed bowling at the Milford Bowling Lanes, where she excelled in the bowling league for many years. Mrs. Rice also enjoyed playing bingo and loved gardening and had a strong interest in tending to her flowers in her younger years.

Mrs. Rice was a "do-it-yourselfer" and was known to have a special talent with crocheting. She could make anything from aphgans to fancy knitted decorations. She also excelled as a cook. Other interests included trout fishing in the bay, swimming in her pool, and going to the slots.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rice in 1990; a son, Samuel; a daughter, Sandra; 2 brothers, Harry and Everett; 4 sisters, Violet, Beatrice, Ida, and Stella; and a grandson, Matthew.

She is survived by 5 sons, Sonny C. Burrows, Jr. and his wife Teresa of Leipsic, Bobby J. Burrows of Leipsic, Harry J. Burrows and his wife Beth of Portsmouth, VA, Frankie L. Gorski and his wife Shelley of Bowers Beach, and Isaac J. Burrows and his wife Elva of Smyrna; three daughters, Peg Whiteman of Bridgeville, PA, and Judy Lindsey and Barbara Fanelli both of Philadelphia, PA; 2 brothers, Henry Marshall and his wife Julia of Leipsic, and Frank Marshall and his wife Franny of Leipsic; a sister, Alice Brown and her husband Tommy of Felton; 20 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friend and caregiver, Cammy Harris.

Memorial services will be Sunday July 18, 2010 at 2pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, DE where friends may call one hour prior to the services.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to The Heritage at Dover Employee Fund, 1203 Walker Road Dover, DE 19904.

Nelson, Jr., Frank J.

Frank J. Nelson, Jr. of Smyrna, DE passed away on Tuesday July 6, 2010 at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill (DHCI).

He was 54.

Mr. Nelson was born June 25, 1956 in Milford, DE the son of Frank J. Nelson, Sr. and Bertha L. Nelson.

He enjoyed spending time with his dog, Zena and enjoyed sitting by the lake at DHCI and cooking.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha M. Krasulak.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by 3 brothers, Wesley, Bruce, and Jeffrey and his wife Peggy; his good friend and caregiver, Dawn Hollingsworth; former caregiver, Pat Skabla; and his dog, Zena.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 11, 2010 at 1:30 pm in the chapel of DHCI located on 100 Sunnyside Rd. Smyrna, DE.

Burial will be private.
