Karr, Edward R.

Navy

Edward R. Karr, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones on July 5, 2010. He was 61 years old.

Eddie was born on September 5, 1948 to the late Florence Karr Miller and the late Dewey Miller. He graduated from Christiana High School in 1967. Eddie met the love of his life, Olive Robinson Karr, and married her in 1968. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1969 and proudly served his country for 6 years. Eddie then became a Correctional Officer at SCI in Georgetown, and then later spent many years driving a truck professionally before retiring. He also served as a Commander for the VFW-Georgetown Post.

Eddie loved spending time with his family. He spent many years by his sons' sides enjoying dirt track racing, drag car racing, and horse racing. One of his biggest motivators was watching his grandson, Joey Spicer, on the football field and wrestling mat.

Eddie loved horses, lighthouses, television, and taking trips with his wife.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Olive Karr; a son, Mike Karr and his wife Chasity; a son, Jeff Karr and his companion Marcie Manuszak; a daughter, Aimee Karr Marzullo and her husband Matthew; eight grandchildren, Joey Spicer, Jordan, Tyler, Tanner, Alexxis, and Jeffrey Karr; Carmela and Olivia Marzullo; his dog, Baby, and many other family members that he loved.

Memorial services will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, DE, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be held at The Delaware Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Bethesda United Methodist Church, c/o Ann Messick 25202 Mary Road, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Plummer, Patricia Faye "Patti"

Patricia Faye Plummer, wife of Virgil "Buddy" Plummer for nearly 47 years, departed this life on Wednesday, March 24, 2010. Patti was born in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Patrick and Viola Ryan on January 10, 1945.

The beloved mother of 3 daughters, Patti shared her love with many:

Lisa Lasher and husband Sean, Christine Sockriter and husband Sam and Georgeanna Mitchell and husband Matt will forever cherish her memory. Buddy and Patti were blessed with 9 grandsons; Jesse Conaway, Jamie Sockriter, Christopher Sockriter, Sammy Sockriter III, Joey Sockriter, Shane Sockriter, William Plummer, Sewall Hickman Jr, and Hiram Lasher, 2 granddaughters; Carrie Conaway and Courtney Bradford, 4 great grandchildren; Chad Conaway, Cameron Sockriter, Alexis Sockriter and MaKenna Sockriter. She is also survived by her brothers, Michael and David Ryan, sisters, Sharon McDonald, Veronica Carey, and Teresa Michieli. She was preceded in death by Richard Ryan her brother.

Over the years, Patti's interest included fishing, gardening, watching her grandchildren play sports, stock car racing and spending time with her family.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call 1 hr prior. Teresa R. Michieli will officiate. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to A. I. DuPont Childrens Hospital 1600 Rockland Rd. Wilmington, Delaware 19801.

Poston, James Reuel

James Reuel Poston, 40, died March 20, 2010, peacefully in his home.James was born April 11, 1969 in Washington D.C. to Joy and Phillip Poston. He studied sports broadcast journalism in college - a passion he carried with him throughout his life.Family and friends will always remember his wonderful sense of humor and strong commitment to those he loved.James is survived by his parents, Joy and Steve Smith and Phillip and Susan Poston; grandmother Mary "YiaYia" Pantazis; his sister Tia and brother-in law Nikolaos; brothers Jonathan and Peter; sisters Lauren and Abigail; nephew Dimosthenis.A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 1:00 PM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 8805 Coastal Highway, Ocean City Maryland. A Viewing will be held at Watson Funeral Home 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, Delaware on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 from 6 - 8 PM. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Lewes, Delaware. Naegele, Janet

Janet Naegele, 62 of Gumboro, Delaware passed away on March 25, 2010 at home. Mrs. Naegele was born on May 2, 1947 to the late John and Virginia Shaw Harris.She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Harris.

Mrs. Naegele was a homemaker and co owned the family business for 20 years. She was a member of the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Delmar, Maryland. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Janet lived for her family, and touched many lives during her lifetime.

Mrs. Naegele is survived by her husband of 42 years, Tom W. Naegele, a son, Tom W. Naegele, Jr., a daughter, Mindy J. Phillips and husband Tom all of Gumboro, De. 2 brothers, Jack Harris of Union Port, Ohio, and Carl Harris of Wierton, W.Va., 4 Grandchildren: Zachary Naegele, Kaitlin E. Phillips, Kelly A. Phillips, and Thomas E. Phillips. She is also survived by many friends, extended family and acquaintances across Sussex county.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 501 East Chestnut St., Delmar, Md. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to be made to the American Lung Association, 1021 Gilpin Ave, Wilmington, De. 19806

Donaway Jr., Jack "Rick"

Jack "Rick" Donaway Jr., age 58, of Dagsboro, Delaware passed away on August 25, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Delaware. Rick loved sports, gardening, Nascar, and golfing. He was very supportive of his family being in Emergency Service. His family and grandchildren were the loves of his life. He was known to play a prank on you if he could. Rick was preceded in death by his father Jack Richard Donaway Sr. He is survived by his Parents; Donald and Genevieve Scherer Penuel, son Brandon Donaway and wife Holly of Dagsboro, Delaware, sisters Sherry Hudson and husband Lin of Dagsboro, Delaware and Dawn Truitt and husband Mike of Roxana, Delaware, two grandchildren, Collin & Rilee Donaway, nephews Chad Hudson, Shane Truitt, and niece Jennah Truitt. Many extended family and friends across Sussex County also survive him. A Graveside Service will be held at Prince Georges Chapel Cemetery in Dagsboro, Delaware on Monday August 30, 2010 at 1:30 PM. A viewing will be held at Watson Funeral Home 211 S. Washington Street Millsboro, Delaware from Noon - 1:00 PM. Pastor Chuck Reynolds will officiate. Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home Millsboro, Delaware.

Donovan, Alfred J.

Army

Alfred J. Donovan, 87, of Millsboro, Delaware passed from this life on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Atlantic Shores Nursing Center in Millsboro, Delaware. Mr. Donovan was born on June 25, 1922 in Georgetown, Delaware to the late Walter and Addie Lynch Donovan.

He had worked at Townsend's Inc, Millsboro for 14 years and Houston-White, Millsboro for 28 years; he has been retired for a number of years.

Mr. Donovan was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II where he served in the Naples, Rhineland, Rome-Arno, Sicily, and North Africa campaigns.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Edna Donovan in 1993, his two sons, O. Robert Donovan in 2008 and Bradford Donovan in 2009, and by a sister Ann Taylor that preceded him in death one week prior.

Services will be in the near future and at the discretion of family and friends. Interment in the Dagsboro Redmens Memorial Cemetery, Dagsboro, Delaware.

Johnson, III, Clarence

Clarence "C.J." Johnson, III, 57, of Georgetown, Delaware died on June 16th 2010 at the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Delaware. He was born in Milford, Delaware on May 15th 1953 to the late Clarence Jr. and Doris E. Hitchens Johnson.

C.J. trained race horses for 35 years; he especially loved working with the yearlings. He enjoyed landscaping and gardening, growing difficult plants and herbs, loved the outdoors, and fishing.

He is survived by a daughter, Johanna Luise Maria Johnson, a son, Brandon Johnson, three brothers, Robert C. Johnson, Joseph L. Johnson, and Theodore N. Johnson, two sisters, Irene A. Rust and Barbara A. Allen, and his nieces and nephews.

Services will be Noon on Wednesday June 23rd at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call at 11AM. Rev. Carol Svecz will officiate. Interment to follow at the Henlopen Memorial Park, SR 1, Milton, Delaware.

Conaway, Betty S.

Betty S. Conaway, age 77, of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on May 22, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Delaware. Betty was a life long member of the Dickerson Chapel AME Church in Millsboro, Delaware, she was a member of the Steward Board and Lay Organization. Betty was a member of the Rehab Court # 3, Heroines of Jericho, Clarksville, Delaware, holding several seats including Past, Most Ancient Matron. She was a member for over 25 years of the Milton Assembly # 81, Order of the Golden Circle P.H.A. She was Past Loyal Lady Ruler. Betty worked at the Stockley Center for 29 years before having to retire due to medical reasons. She loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Edward & Hilda Short Jones and a brother Ronson Short. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Andrew Martin Conaway, one Daughter Sheredia Langhorne of Riverdale, Georgia, one god child; Byron Allen of Harrington Delaware. 2 brothers; Donald Short and his companion Colette of Bethesda, Md., and Bruce Short of Philadelphia, Pa., 2 grandchildren; Katryna & Lauren Langhorne. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, along with extended family and friends, also survive her.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday May 27, 2010 at Dickerson Chapel AME Church Rt.113 Millsboro, Delaware at 11:00 AM where friends may call 1 hour prior. Rev. Richard Worthy will officiate. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Delaware. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Delaware.

Hall, Edna

Edna Hall age 71, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on August 21, 2010. Edna was born on September 3, 1938 in Bishop, Maryland, to the late Tom & Esther Hall. She leaves behind to morn; 3 daughters, Madeline Garrison of Frankford, Delaware, Betty Hall of Jacksonville, Florida, and Anne Bell Poole of Frankford, Delaware, 2 brothers, Edward Hall of Frankford Delaware, Harrison Hall of California, 4 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and a host of friends. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Noon at Calvary Pentecostal Church Rt 113 Bishopville Maryland, where friends may call 1 hr prior. Pastor Milburn Hall will officiate. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Arrangements by: Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Delaware..

McGrellis, Mark J.

Mark J. McGrellis, 69, of Fenwick Island, Delaware passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at his home. Mr. McGrellis was born on January 22, 1941 in New Castle, Delaware to the late Mark A. McGrellis and Sarah Harter McGrellis Durr who survives him.

Mr. McGrellis worked as an asbestos worker with the Local Union 42 in New Castle, Delaware.

He was a licensed pilot and he loved to fly.

Mr. McGrellis is also survived by a son Walter McGrellis and his wife Jacqueline of Millsboro, Delaware, one grandchild, a niece Theresa Harter, and a great niece Stacy Kinsey. He was preceded in death by a son Mark A. McGrellis.

A Memorial Service will be 7 PM, Thursday, July 15th at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call and visit from 6 – 7 PM. Rev. J. Allen Miller will officiate the service.
