Albert Hagans, Sr.

Albert Hagans, Sr. was born on March 7, 1925 and departed to his home in Heaven on April 7, 2010 he was 85. He was born to the late George and Lou Carrie Pope Hagans. Albert was educated in public schools in Wilson, NC. Later he met and married Margie Mae Hinnant on January 10, 1946. From that union 8 children were born. He was employed by various jobs such as construction, farming, trucking and numerous processing plants. In the 1980's Albert retired. Albert known as "Blake" to many was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was honest, faithful, and a God fearing man. He loved fishing, barbecuing, Gospel Music, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also a 33rd Degree Mason Omega Lodge, Bayonne, NJ. He left behind his love and unforgettable memories to his wife of 64 years Margie M. Hagans of Selbyville, Delaware; his children: Albert Hagans Jr. (Margaret) of Frankford, Delaware, Robbie Hagans (Vanessa) of Millsboro, Delaware Marjorie James (Leonard), Ruby Bridell (Sylvester) Donnie Hagans, Moses Hagans, Richard Hagans, and Jackie Hagans (Lisa) all of Selbyville, Delaware, two brothers Issac of Petersburg, Va, and William of Galveston, Tx.: five sisters, Sarah and Luetta both of Middlesex, NC. Belle and Mary of Selbyville, De. and Arsmithey of Richmond, Va. thirty-two grandchildren, fifty-two great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Albert is preceded in death by three brothers: David Pope, George and Melvin Hagans of NC; one sister Reba Hagans of NC; one grandson, Sylvester Bridell Jr; and two great grandchildren: Moniah Bridell of Selbyville, De. and Elijah L Forman Jr. of Millsboro, Delaware. A funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at St. Johns Second Baptist Church Mt. Joy, Millsboro, Delaware at 11:00 AM, friends may call 1 hr. prior. Interment will be in Curtis UMC Cemetery, Bishopville, Md. Arrangements by: Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington ST. Millsboro, Delaware.

Stewart, Constance Lord

Constance "Connie" Lord Stewart, age 74, of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Delaware Hospice in Milford, Delaware. Connie was a Librarian at the University of Delaware, Morris Library from where she retired after 23 years. After retirement she moved from Newark to Pot Nets where she made many new and dear friends. She was a competitive roller skater and teacher for 15 years at the Merryland Skating rink. She greatly enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and watching them swim and grow. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Stewart who passed away in 1997. She is survived by her son David, his wife Cheryl and 2 grandchildren, Lakewood and Nathaniel Stewart of Chesapeake City Maryland. A host of friends, acquaintances and co-workers across the State also survive her. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Watson Funeral Home 211 S. Washington Street Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call 1 hour prior. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice 100 Patriots Way Milford, Delaware 19963. Santiago, Sylvia Jennie

Sylvia "Jennie" Santiago of Millsboro De. Went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ on Thursday, September 16, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents Sarah and D. Lynwood Taylor, I sister Priscilla Snell and 1 brother Dwight Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Jose Santiago, 4 children Jeffery Taylor, Gregory Taylor and wife Francine, Demetrius Taylor and wife Viola, Alisha Santiago and her fiancée Samuel Lee; 5 granddaughters Ashley Santiago, Latisha Santiago, Charmaine Davis, Denitta Tate and Alonda Tate; 4 grandsons, Gregory Taylor Jr. and Demetrius Taylor Jr. Carl Hinton and Maurice Moore; 1 great grandson Jerron Smith; 2 brothers Robert Taylor ( Anna) Bruce Taylor ( Heidi Marshall ); 8 sisters, Shirley Conaway, Linda Perry (Lawrence), Pamela Taylor, Catherine Taylor-Hall (Aldon), Wanda Taylor, Bertha Taylor, Sebrena Taylor and Gail Simms; 1 sister in law Sharon Taylor, 22 nieces and nephews, 26 great nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, friends and adopted children. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 12 noon at Dickerson Chapel A.M.E. Church in Millsboro., viewing will be 1 hour before the funeral. Friends may also call on Friday evening, September 24, 2010 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Dickerson Chapel A.M.E. Church. Interment will be at the Old Field Cemetery in Millsboro. Arrangements by, Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Delaware.

Gulab, Sheila K

Sheila Khera Gulab of Millsboro, Delaware, died peacefully at her home on May 6, 2010. She was 72.

She was the beloved matriarch of her entire family. Her generosity with her time and resources to her family and the wider community, her compassionate and considerate nature, and her extraordinary kindness endeared her to everyone fortunate enough to have known her. She worked as registered nurse for about 30 years.

She is survived by her husband Emmanuel Gulab to whom she was married for 41 years; her son, Asher Gulab; her daughter, Shubnum Gill; three grandchildren, Justin Gulab, Alexander Gill and Grace Gill; 5 siblings, Jamila Gulab, Naseem Din, Perveen Uddin, Pervaiz Mall and Qamer Mall. She had a daughter-in-law Rukhsana Gulab and a son-in-law Nadeem Gill. She had four brother-in-laws Eric Gulab and Ernest Gulab, Shamshad Din, Zirek Uddin and three sister-in-laws Nazili Gulab, Sarapheen Mall and Percilla Mall. She had 13 nephews and 11 nieces.

Services will be held at Georgetown Presbyterian Church, 203 North Bedford Street, Georgetown, Delaware on Saturday, May 15th. The viewing will be from 9:00 – 10:00 am and the service will start at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgetown Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, P.O Box 46, Georgetown, DE 19947

Mumford, Preston James

Preston James Mumford of Frankford, Delaware, son of the late Annie and Albert Mumford, departed this life on September 20, 2010 at the age of 87. He was born in Williamsville, Delaware on September 11, 1923.

He received his education in the public schools in Maryland. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in which he received many ribbons and was released with a honorable discharge. He was employed at Showell Farms as a poultry packer until he retired then later became an employee of Sea Colony in Bethany Beach, Delaware.

Preston accepted Christ as his savior and became a member of Thessalonia Baptist Church for many years. He was a Church Trustee and sang in the choir.

On May 11, 2002 he was united in marriage to Agnes Purnell until the Lord called him home. Preston was known for his style with his fancy suits, shoes and of course his hats. He loved sweet potato pie and his ice cream. "Pop really loved to eat".

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Stanford Mumford, Clifton Mumford, Russell Mumford, Albert Mumford, and Lloyd Mumford and three sisters, Florence Drew, Mildred Young and Marion Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his memories with his wife Agnes Mumford, one son, Willie Currie of New Castle, Delaware, six sisters, Pastor Hazel Purnell of Selbyville, Delaware, Mae Watson of California, Nora Oliver of Millsboro, Delaware, Evelion Major of Philadelphia, Pa, Edna Porzo of Selbyville, Delaware, Carrie Steven of Bear, Delaware, one brother, Joseph Mumford of Philadelphia, Pa one Step Sister George Ann Jackson of Milford, Delaware five step daughters and one Step Son, Twenty-one grandchildren, and forty four great grand children and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday September 24, 2010 at 1:00 PM, at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Bishopville, Maryland, where friends may call one hour prior. Bishop James Johnson will officiate. Interment will be in Curtis United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bishopville, Maryland. Anderson, Mary Danforth

Mary Danforth Anderson, 89, of Ocean View, DE, formerly of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on March 1, 2010 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware. Mrs. Anderson was born on May 14, 1920 in Onawa, Iowa to the late Glenn and Ida Marie Montross Danforth.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by her daughter Nancy Cabrera-Santos of Ocean View, DE, her son Dr. Larry Anderson of Boise, Idaho, five grandchildren, David, Christian, Nathan, Peter, and Josh, and a great grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence R. Anderson in 2006.

A memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 6th at the Mariner's Bethel United Methodist Church, 81 Central AVE, Ocean View, Delaware. Rev. Al Taylor will officiate the service. Inurnment will be at the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations in memory of Mary Danforth Anderson to the Mariner's Bethel U.M. Church, 81 Central AVE, Ocean View, DE 19970.

Davis, Carrie C.

Carrie C. Davis, 79 of Millsboro, Delaware passed away peacefully early Friday morning July 30, 2010 in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Davis was born in Millsboro, Delaware on August 13, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Lillian Davis Maull and the late Robert Wright. However her great aunt Bertha Ellen Mosley and her husband Charlie Mosley whom both preceded her in death lovingly raised her. On April 8, 1952 Carrie was united in Holy Matrimony to Walter A. Davis in Salisbury Maryland. Since 2006, Walter has lovingly devoted his time to care for Carrie as her health began to decline. She received her early education at the Nanticoke Indian School in Millsboro, Delaware. She was employed for over fourteen years at the Townsend Poultry Plant in Millsboro Delaware. Carrie transitioned from Townsend's to take care of Bertha Ellen whose health began to fail. She later began domestic work. Carrie was an avid traveler going across country several times camping with her husband. In addition, she traveled abroad to Russia, Israel, Hawaii, and Alaska. She enjoyed mingling and meeting people, playing the piano, cooking and in her later years daily trips to McDonalds. Carrie was a member of the Indian Mission United Methodist Church. Carrie leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 58 years, Walter A. Davis: a special Godson, Gemez Norwood, two brother-in-laws: William and Albert Davis, two sister-in-laws, Annie George and Cherita Davis: and a host of family and friends. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday August 5, 2010 at Noon at Watson Funeral Home 211 South Washington Street Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call from 10 - Noon. Rev. Jerry Denton will officiate. Interment will be in Indian Mission Cemetery. Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro Delaware.

Baker, Walter Danial

Walter Daniel Baker, 66, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away on April 15, 2010 at the Brandywine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Wilmington, DE. Mr. Baker was born on August 2, 1943 in Showell, Maryland to the late Daniel Walter and Catherine Mae West Baker.

Mr. Baker worked for C.M.V. Cleaning Services in Elizabeth, New Jersey retiring many years ago.

He is survived by two sons, Daniel Baker of Georgia and Joshua Hughes of South Carolina, two daughters, Darlene E. Williams and husband Roger of Florida and Amanda Baker of New Jersey, four brothers, Robert Baker of Berlin, MD, Norman Baker of Bishop, MD, Herman Baker of Ocean City, MD, and Jerome Baker of New Jersey, two sisters, Rosalie Miller of Millsboro, DE and Mary Helen Fassett of New Jersey, four grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by a son Timothy in 1991 and a sister Annabelle Hall in addition to his parents.

Services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call at Noon. Rev. Ervin Williams will officiate the service.

Mitchell, Gary Lee

Gary Lee Mitchell, age 59, of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Delaware. Mr. Mitchell was born on January 13, 1951 in Milford, Delaware to the late Merrill J. and Edith Wootten Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell was a self employed Poultry Grower operating a farm for last 30 years.

He was a member of Carey's United Methodist Church, Millsboro. Gary Lee had a great sense of humor, was very kindhearted and never held back or afraid to help anyone. He was very understanding, compassionate, and loved his family.

He is survived by his son Garrett Mitchell of Millsboro, a brother Bruce Mitchell of Millsboro, a nephew Merrill Mitchell and wife Joanie, his close friends Ray and Millie Jones and Ed Oakes, all of Millsboro, numerous friends, extended family, and a special canine friend "Lady".

Services will be private and at the discretion of the family.

Hearn, Alma J.

Alma J. Hearn age 90 of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on May 19, 2010. Alma was a homemaker and a member of Hickory Hill United Methodist Church. Her Parents; John & Ida Pusey Parker and her husband Norris Hearn predeceased her. 2 nieces; Minnie Parker of Milton, Delaware and Linda Dykes of Laurel, Delaware, 2 nephews; Merrill J. Parker and Jack Parker both of Millsboro, Delaware survive her. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday May 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home 211 Washington St. Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call 1 hr prior. Rev. Betty Jo Magee will officiate. Interment will be in Carey's Cemetery Millsboro, Delaware.

Baker, Helen Nellie

Helen "Nellie" M. Baker, 92, Dover, passed away Monday October 18, 2010 at KGH Bay Health Milford.

He was born on November 15, 1917 in Elkton, MD to the late James and Ardella Biddle Mentcer.

Nellie was a homemaker, but had held several jobs in her earlier years and had worked at Richardson and Robbins Co., volunteered at Kent General Hospital for over 20 years, the Golden Eagle Shop of the Modern Maturity Center and Silver Lake Nursing Home. Helen was active in her church, Capital City Church of Christ and enjoyed her church family members immensely. She is preceded in death by her husband Edwin B. Baker, Sr. in 1986, a son Marion G. Baker and a daughter Millicent Margo Baker as infants and one brother and five sisters. Helen "Nellie" (Mom/ Mom-Mom) will always be remember by the SPARKLES that she wore in her hair-"HER ANGEL DUST !!.

He is survived by Daughter, Bontia Baggett of Wilmington, DE. Daughter, Barbara Hurley of Dover, DE. Son and his wife, Edwin B. and Nancy Baker, Jr. of Dover, DE. Brother, Robert E. Mentzer of Beavercreek, OH. 5, Grandchildren, 2, Step Grand children, 2, Great grand children, 4, Step Great grand children.

Remembrance Services will be held Friday 10/22/2010 12 PM at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE Burial will be at the Sharon Hill Memorial Park Dover, DE

Friends may also call Friday one hour before the time of the service at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover.

The family request that memorial contributions be given to Capital City Church of Christ 86 West Lebanon Road Dover, DE 19901 in Helen's name.
