Joyce Lashley Campbell Laid to Rest
Joyce Lashley Campbell of Cedar Key died Friday at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton after an extended illness. She was 80.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Fitzgerald, Ga., and was a longtime resident of Cedar Key. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cedar Key.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G.V. Campbell.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue McAloon of Jacksonville; a son, Don Campbell Sr. of Cedar Key; a sister, Margaret Oder of Cedar Key; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Campbell were held Sunday, December 28, 2003 at First Baptist Church of Cedar Key with the Rev. Bobby Lindsey officiating. Internment was held at Cedar Key Cemetary.

Nathan Fine
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. in the Cedar Key cemetery for Nathan Fine, age 74. The service will be conducted by Reverand James Butler. Mr. Fine was born September 7, 1929 and died November 23, 2003.

P.H. Day
Pershing "P.H." Day of Cedar Key, died at home Friday morning, Oct. 31, 2003. He was 85 years old. Mr. Day was born in Telogia, FL on March 3, 1918. He moved to Cedar Key with his family when he was 8 years old. He graduated from Cedar Key High School in 1937.
Mr. Day was president of the Jaycees in the late 40's and a member of the Cedar Key City Commission and Mayor of Cedar Key several times over the twenty year span thru the 50's and into the 70's. He also served on the Cedar Key Water Board for several years.
As a dedicated charter member of the Cedar Key Lions Club and Chairman of the Building Committee, he was instrumental in seeing the Lions Club Building project completed.
Mr. Day was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Cedar Key.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Susie Coburn Day of Cedar Key. 4 daughters, Cobina Sills, of Chiefland FL., Carmen & Jerry Beckham, ChaRue & Virgil Sandlin, and Nena Calvert & the late Doug Calvert, all of Cedar Key. He has 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday November 1, 2003 from 2-4 P.M. at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home 1301 N. Young Blvd., Chiefland, Florida.
Services will be held November 2, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at Christ Episcopal Church in Cedar Key, with the burial to follow at the Cedar Key Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Tri-Counties, 624 N. Main St., Chiefland, Florida 32626

John Carbone
John Carbone, who was born August 30, 1942, was found dead in his Cedar Key home October 1, 2003. Police responded to a call from a neighbor and notified Mr. Carbone's next of kin.

Marie Collins Wilkerson
Marie Collins Wilkerson died Wednesday, September 24, 2003. She was eighty-two years old, a homemaker who was born and spent her life in Cedar Key. A grave side service was held in the Cedar Key Cemetery, Monday September 29.
Mrs. Wilkerson is survived by sons John Stevens of Inglis and Everett Stevens of Alicia, stepson James Wilkerson of Chiefland, Daughters Harriet Thompson of Cedar Key and Pearl Bradley of McClenny, and stepdaughters Irene Hardin of Chiefland and Cleo Allen of Middleburg FL. Mrs. Wilkerson is also survived by eleven grand children, eleven step grand children, nine great-grand children and two great-great-grand children.

Harry Leroy Miller 1931-2003
Harry Leroy Miller, of Cedar Key, passed away at this home June 7. He was 72 years old. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary. Survivors include son Roy Miller, Cedar Key; daughter Bonnie Sue McCullors, Gainesville; brother Gordon Miller, Miami; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Miller was a retired Southern Bell employee. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, June 11 at the Cedar Key Cemetery.

William "Chuck" Reed
A young Cedar Key clammer died May 27, 2003 as a result of complications while diving for clams at a lease on Corrigans Reef. William "Chuck" Reed was brought by boat to a landing, transferred to an ambulance and taken to Williston for medical treatment, but could not be saved.

Helena B. Allen
OCALA - Helena B. Allen, who lived in Gainesville from 1960 to 1980, died Sunday after a long illness. She had been living in Ocala since 1990.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, William H. Taylor and Marvin A. Allen.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol E. Harrison of Ocala; sons Paul D. Taylor of Fort Lauderdale and Kent D. Taylor of Boulder, Colo.; sisters Grace O'Neal of St. Augustine, Neel Lee of Daytona Beach and Lucille Arnold of Jacksonville; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Stephen Richard Atkins
Stephen Richard Atkins, formerly of Gainesville, died Tuesday in Watkinsville, Ga. He was 51.
Mr. Atkins was born in Fort Bragg, N.C., and was formerly employed with the University of Florida Maintenance Department and Morrison's Inc. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his sister, Kathleen A. Perry of Watkinsville, Ga.; and brothers Robert Atkins of Venice and Philip Atkins of Gainesville.

Gail Marie Brant
WILLISTON - Gail Marie Brant died Saturday at Hospice House in Gainesville. She was 56.
Mrs. Brant was born in Hartford, Conn., and moved to Williston from Gainesville in 1996. She was employed with North Florida Specialty Care in Gainesville for 15 years. She was a Lutheran.
Survivors include her mother, Marjorie Litke of Williston; a daughter, Corrie Hachman of Hawthorne; sons DeWayne Brant of Birmingham, Ala., and Christopher Burns of Gainesville; and 11 grandchildren.

Earl G. Eckford
LAKE GENEVA - Earl G. Eckford died Monday at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville after a short illness. He was 82.
Mr. Eckford was born in Carrizozo, N.M., and came to Lake Geneva in 1972. He was a retired mechanical engineer. He was a member of Keystone United Methodist Church, Melrose Lodge No. 89, Free Masons, Keystone Shriners Club, Morocco Temple, Scottish Rite Bodies and the Lions Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jo Eckford of Hawthorne; a son, Gary Eckford of Lake Geneva; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Douglas G. Calvert
CEDAR KEY - Douglas G. Calvert died Monday at Shands Rehab. He was 47.
Mr. Calvert was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, and moved to Cedar Key in 1968. He was a graduate of Cedar Key High School and Santa Fe Community College. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles of Cedar Key and Christ Episcopal Church of Cedar Key.
Mr. Calvert and his wife were clam farmers and engineered the first successful clam hatchery on Florida's west coast.
Survivors include his wife, Nena Day Calvert of Cedar Key; a daughter, Heather Calvert of Cedar Key; a son, Douglas Joshua Calvert of Cedar Key; his mother, Shirley Calvert of Hamilton, Ill.; sisters Dorothy Boyle of Hamilton, Ill., and Diane Wade of Keokuk, Iowa; and brothers Dayton Calvert of Columbia, S.C., and Donnie Calvert of Medina, Ohio.

Charles Landon Roberts
Charles Landon Roberts died at birth Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville.
Survivors include parents Shane and Natalie Roberts of Jena; maternal grandparents Lynn and Janet Lane of Jena; and paternal grandparents Charles and Sarah Roberts of Cross City.
