RODRIGUEZ, Salvador `Sam` M., age 82, a native of Tampa, entered into peace Saturday, September 28, 2002. He was preceded in death by his son, Salvador S. Rodriguez. Sam will be deeply missed by his wife, Delfina (Ramos) Rodriguez of Tampa; daughter and husband, Nancy and Marco Stanley of Granville, Tenn.; grandson and wife, Sam and Julie Rodriguez of Tampa; granddaughte r and husband, Kim and Bob Roth of Glendale, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Chloe and Alexa Rodriguez of Tampa; sister, Josephine Puerta of Tampa; brother-in-law and wife, George and Daisy Ramos of Tampa; and close family friends, Jane and George Miranda and Sylvia Castillo. Sam was a baseball player and avid golfer and will be deeply missed by his golfing partners, Case Castillo, Sonny Rodrigu ez, Frank Sabella, Bob Babis and Arkie Hernandez. He retired from both Robbins and Lindsley Lumber Company where he held a position in contractor sales. Sam was a decorated United States Army Air Corps Veteran and saw action in Normandy, France. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. at the chapel of Gonzalez Funeral Home with Inurnment on Monday, October 7, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Fla. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. in his memory.

SIMPSON, Warren Lee, 44, longtime resident of Tampa passed away Sunday, September 29, 2002. He is survived by his loving companion, Glenda; daughter, Krista; grandson, Andre; father, Leland Simpson; mother, Carol Kerbo; two sisters, Karen and Melanie; four brothers, Jeff, Garry, Wes and Jon; and many nieces and nephews. Warren was an avid boater and fisherman. He worked for over 20 years with Nuccio Heating and Air. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 3, 2002 at 7 p.m. at Blount, Curry & Roel Funeral Homes, 3207 W. Bearss Ave. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 p.m. until service time.

SPAIN, Jeannette R., 84, of Sun City Center since 1984, died Sept. 25, 2002. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Walter; daughters, Stephanie Coppola of Wayne, N.J., Victoria Spain of Roslindale, Mass. and Jacqueline Gardiner of Riverview; two sisters, Margot Johnson of Sarasota, Fla. and Jacqueline Rapier of Ashland, Ore.; and two grandchildren. Known by her friends as `Didi`, she was an artist and a trained classical pianist. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, FL 33609.

WALDECK, Deborah, 95, of Tampa, passed away September 26, 2002. She is survived by her grandson, Curtis Waldeck; a daughter -in-law, Beverly Waldeck, both of Tampa; and a sister, Alpha Shipp of Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Waldeck was a member of The First Christian Church of Tampa and The Tampa Women's Club. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2002 at Garden of Memories Chapel, with Dr. Craig Wascovich, Senior Minister, and Rev. Roslin Springer, Associate Minister officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to The American Cancer Society, 1462 Oakfield Drive, Brandon, FL 33511 in her memory.

WATT, Maurice (Hoke), died September 26, 2002 at his home in Tampa. He was 81. Born in Atlanta, Illinois, Maurice served in World War II, traveled the world and then settled in the Tampa area in 1957. A 30 year Air Force veteran, Maurice loved golf, creative drawing and local sports teams. Maurice will join his beloved wife, Betty, who died in 1998, at the National Veteran's Cemetery in Bushnell. He is survived by sister, Marilyn Cavan of New Albany, Ind.; daughter, Jenifer Watson of Richmond, Va.; son, William Watt of Tampa; and grandson, Jonathon Gazdak of New York City. Maurice's other daughter, Carolyn Gazdak, died in Tampa in 1992. National Cremation Society, Tampa.

CROWL, Ronald Lee 65, of New Port Richey, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002 at home in New Port Richey. He was born in Weston, West Virginia and moved to New Port Richey from Brooklyn Heights, Ohio in 1968. He was a nutritional supplement salesman and of Evangelical faith. Survivors include wife of 35 years, Genny Mae Crowl of New Port Richey; four sisters, Maxine Stull of Ventura, Calif., Mary Crowl, Jeanette Crowl and Jenny Rozanski, all of Brooklyn, Ohio; and niece, Ernestine Rozanski of Brooklyn, Ohio. CUCCIO, Gloria Rose, 73, of Lighthouse Point, Fla. and formerly of Lutz, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 in Pompano Beach, Fla. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and had lived in Florida for the past 17 years. She was an executive secretary for Raytheon Co., New York City. She was a Catholic. She is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Santine Cuccio of Lighthouse Point and Karen Davis of New Port Richey; and three grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Friday, Oct. 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Port Richey. Interment will follow the service at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home, 5228 Trouble Creek Rd., New Port Richey, Fla.

DETTMAN, Rita `Bonnie`, age 64, of Elcho, Wis., died suddenly September 28, 2002 at her home. She was born July 10, 1938 in Chicago to the late Rudolph and Florence (Oncay) Slater. She married the late, Herbert W. Dettman, Jr. November 23, 1957 in Chicago. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Elcho, Wis. Following marriage she lived in Chicago until moving to Elcho in 1962. She and her husband owned and operated Dettman's Auto Salvage. After her husband's death she continued to operate the business with her sons. Since 1977 she spent winters in Florida and in 1981 she received her G.E.D. in Tampa, Florida. She enjoyed playing keno and bingo. Bonnie was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, VFW Auxiliary and a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aeries #3752 in Zephyrhills, Fla. She was named Sister of the Year and in 2002, Mother of the Year of Aeries #3752. In Elcho she was a member of Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Auxiliary Unit #377. Bonnie was an avid supporter of the National Kidney foundation and an organ donor. Survivors include a close companion, Charles Trussell of Elcho, Wis.; three daughters, Patricia (Dennis) Gilbert of Pelican Lake, Wis., Donna Mae (Mike) Burback of St. Paul, Minn. and Joni (Jess) Shelton of Elcho, Wis.; two sons, Daniel (Veronica) Dettman of Wesley Chapel, Fla. and Bill (Fiancee', Lynn Palubicki) Dettman of Elcho, Wis.; six grandchildren, Tina, Herb III, Jess, Mark, Sherry and Mickey; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jordan. In addition to her parents and husband; one sister, Sandra preceded her in death. F uneral services will be Friday, October 4, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Elcho, Wis. Reverend Jerome Taddy will officiate. HILDITCH, Dean Lee, 51, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2002 at his residence. Born in Chicago, Ill., he came here 20 years ago from St. Petersburg and from Chicago in 1978. He was Labor Supervisor for the Pasco County Parks & Recreation Dept. He was past president of the Florida Nurserymen Growers Association, Florida; member of Emergency Management Team Coordinator, Pasco County; and member of Florida Institute of Park Personal, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Dinah; sons, DeWayne A. Hilditch of Spring Hill, Gregory S. Polk of Orlando and Gerald S. Polk, Jr. (Sonny) of St. Petersburg; one brother, Robert Hilditch of Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Arlington Funeral Home, New Port Richey.

KITCHEL, Clara, 91, resident of Sleepy Hollow Mobile Estates, Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away September 30, 2002. Mrs. Kitchel, daughter of Peter and Emma Kipen, was born in Dorr, Michigan and moved here 27 years ago from Elmhurst, Illinois. Before retiring in 1975, she was a manager of Koellers Shoe Store in Elmhurst, Illinois. Mrs. Kitchel was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zephyrhills, Women's Catholic Guild and Prayer Group, and was an usher for the Church. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Merrill A. Kitchel of Zephyrhills, Florida; one daughter, Joan (Robert) Stromberg of Seneca, North Carolina; one grandson, Todd Stromberg of Washington , D.C.; and sister-in-law, Edna Kipen of Pullman, Michigan. Services will be held Monday, October 28, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was a retired truck driver and was an outside salesman for Scotty's. Survivors include his wife, Rose; two sons, Greg Pennington of Dade City and Kurt Pennington of Virginia; a daughter, Delores Trivitt of Parklow, Virginia; three sisters, Katheleen Crigger of Rural Retreat, Virginia, Edith Bateman of Charlottesville, Virginia and Adah Umberger of Wytheville, Virginia; and five grandchildren, including Brandon and Lindsey Pennington of Dade City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home TODAY, from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2002. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church in Dade City with Dr. James Renault officiating. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery.

ROADES, Barry H., 58, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away on October 1, 2002 at East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills. He moved to Florida seven years ago from his native St. Louis, Mo. after retiring from Hazelwood West High School as a teacher for 30 years. He was a US Army veteran serving during Vietnam and the president of the Zephyrhills Tennis Association. He is survived by his wife, Karen M. Roades; one son, Erin of St. Louis; his mother, Elaine Roades of St. Louis; three brothers, Alfred of Anahiem, Calif., Douglas of St. Louis, and Jay of Mesa Verde, Calif.; and a sister, Joy Ann Roades-Brown of St. Helena, Calif. National Cremation Society, New Port Richey, Fla.

RUBINFIELD, Carolyn, 79, of Hudson, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002 at Maria Curley Foster Home in New Port Richey. Born in Newark, N.J. she came here 11 years ago from Delray Beach, Fla. She was a retired office worker and of the Jewish faith. Survivors include her husband, Irving Rubinfield of Hudson; one son, Dr. Louis Rubinfield; and one daughter, Paula Rubinfield. BOSTICK, Vera L., 94, a resident of Plant City, passed away September 30, 2002. She is survived by three sons, James Bostick and wife, Evelyn of Huntsville, Ala., Cecil Bostick and wife, Sharon and Theron Bostick and wife, Carolyn, all of Plant City; two daughters, Betty Brooks of Tampa and Margie Boyette and husband, Bill of Temple Terrace; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bostick was the oldest living member of Bethany Baptist Church of Plant City where she loved to sing and won many awards for her singing. She loved to travel and always entertained on the cruises that she took. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 4, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church wit Dr. Hugh Long and Rev. Elvin Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening (tonight) from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church. CIABURRO, Irene S., 76, of Merritt Island, Fla. died Monday, September 30, 2002 in Tampa after a long illness. She is survived by her daughters, Michele Reigger and husband, Brian and Susan Ober and husband, Andrew; her brothers, Frank Shanoff and wife, Anita and Robert Shanoff and wife, Val. A native of New Haven, Conn., she attended NYU before migrating to Miami. She became a USMC officer's wife for 20 years and then settled in Merritt Island in 1969. Irene was active in her union, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, before retiring from the Brevard County School Board Maintenance Department after many years. Contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or the Lupus Foundation of America in her name.

DIAZ, James `Jimmy`, age 53, of Tampa, passed away September 30, 2002. A native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Jimmy was a graduate of Hillsborough High School Class of 1968. He was employed with Quest Diagnostics for 23 years and was an avid Bucs and Gators fan. Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Albert Diaz and brothers, Julio and Tico Diaz. Survivors include his mother, Zoraida Diaz; sisters, Zoraida Cantu and husband, Anthony, Helen Wilson and Ruth Leon; brothers, Savino Diaz, Louis Diaz and wife, Becky and John Diaz and wife, Maria; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jimmy will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him. Funeral services will be held Friday evening at 8 o'clock at Gonzalez Funeral Home. Cremation will follow. He was retired from Central Truck Lines, was a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon; a deacon; a US Army World War II veteran; and member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Joy; his children by heart, David and Lori Zeigler, Plant City, Minnie Lou and Delton C. McBride, Tampa, Rhae Joan and Don Davis, Webster, Texas , Vivian and Ted York, Raleigh, N.C. and Diane Zeigler-Rodgers and Arpie Rodgers, Brandon; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Friday at the First Baptist Church of Brandon. Interment will follow in Twin City, Ga. FENTY, Joseph, 81, of Land O' Lakes, passed away Monday, September 30, 2002. He moved from Plainview, N.Y. to Seffner, Fla. where he was employed by Tampa Brake. He then moved to Lakeland and then to Land O' Lakes to the Baldomero Lopez Veterans Nursing Home until his death. He was the youngest of 11 children. He is survived by two daughters, Diane Fenty of N.Y. and Kathy Hineman, 407 Buttonwood Drive, Chadds Ford, PA 19317; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

FRIES, Pauline Apolonia, 90, of Lutz, passed away September 29, 2002. Our dearly beloved mother loved everyone. She was the rock, the salt and the pillar of her family. She taught her children to stand alone, have compassion, sympathy and above all, love for others. Her husband of 69 years, Herman, preceded her on August 5, 2002. She is survived by her three children, Harry Fries and wife, Lynn, Virginia Abosida and Charles Schmoyer, Robert Fries, her caregiver and Emma Tzortzinis; grandchildren, Peter Abosida, Ginny Lisle, Liesl Daniel, Christoffer Fries, Liz Alvarez (and their spouses), Donna Chancey, Jennifer Hansen and Jeff Hansen; 12 great-grandchildren; her special niece, Mary Desmarias and her children, Page and Kara; the family of her brother, Bruno and Helen Bembenek, their children and grandchildren; and her dear friends, Viola Yunger, Delores Thomas, Jay Allberg and family. `Mommy, thank you so much for being our beloved Mom.` Memorial services will be on Saturday, October 5, 2002 from 1-5 p.m. at the Fries Residency, 17424 Darby Lane, Lutz.

JARDON, Sergio A., 61, of Lake Worth, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2002. He was a minister in The Florida United Methodist Conference, having served in Cross City, Hialeah, Green Cove Springs, Orlando, Neptune Beach, Palatka and Lake Worth. Presently, he was Pastor at Calvary United Methodist Church. He was a past member of the Palatka Rotary Club, present member of the Lake Worth Rotary Club, a Lifetime Paul Harris Fellow and active in Urban Ministry. Sergio was preceded in death by his father in 1992. Survivors include his devoted wife, Lynda; loving son, Sergio Jardon of Tampa; adoring grandson, Zachary Jardon; loving mother, Libby Jardon; sister, Lillian Jardon, both of Tampa; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 First Avenue South, Lake Worth, Fla. with The Rev. Kendal Taylor and District Superintendent Debbie McCloud officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. KLUNK, Frances Marie, age 75, of Brandon, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 at Univ. of Maryland Shock Trauma from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born Aug. 11, 1927 in Catonsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Emery and Stella Hughes Sapp. Twice married, she was the wife of Maurice W. Klunk and John A. Schmidt. Mrs. Klunk was the mother of John F. Schmidt of Westminster, Md., D. Bruce Schmidt of Finksburg, Md., and Judith D. Creamer of Brandon. She was the step-mother of Jacqueline Kennedy of Sykesville, Md., Russell Klunk of Finksburg and Joyce Dixon of Hampstead, Md. She is the sister of Mary Brenner of Baltimore and is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Due notice of memorial services will be given by the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, Owings Mills at a later date.
