He was born
February 8, 1921 in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa to Orville S. and Esta Huntoon Williams. He married
Helen Courtney.
He later married
Helen Jean Burdett August 16, 1968 in Agency, Iowa.
She preceded him in death April 19, 2008.
He was a member of the Horse Traders Association and worked at the Bloomfield Foundry for 17 years.
He is survived by 7 sons, Donnie Williams of Milton, Iowa, David Williams of San Francisco, California, Paul Williams of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Johnny, Orville, Ricky, and Bernard Williams; 5 daughters, Lisa Williams of Ottumwa, Iowa and Caroll, Cynthia, Gloria and Janice; 36 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bob Williams of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 sons, Don and Michael Williams; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Graveside services will be at 10:30am Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Drakesville Cemetery in Drakesville, Iowa with Ed Veatch officiating.
Open visitation will be from 10am until 7pm on Wednesday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa.
A memorial has been established to his family.
Sherry S. Birchmier
BLOOMFIELD - Sherry S. Birchmier, 61, of Bloomfield, Iowa died February 4, 2009 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.
She was born
March 11, 1947 in Ottumwa, Iowa to John and Blanche “Bobbie” Smith Duffield.
She married
Wayne Birchmier February 26, 1966 in Bloomfield. She graduated from Davis County High School in 1965.
She was a farm wife and part-time mail carrier.
She was a past Soil and Water Commissioner in Davis County and served on the Extension Council for several years.
She was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and served on the board.
She sang with the group “From Troy with Love” and was in a couple’s card club.
She is survived by her husband; 2 sons, Brett (Jennifer) Birchmier of Bloomfield, Iowa, Kurt (Colleen) Birchmier of Carlisle, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Caleb and Claire Birchmier of Carlisle, Kyle and Kate Birchmier of Bloomfield; 3 sisters, Judy (Richard) Carlson of Bloomfield, Vicky (Gary) Johnson of Drakesville, Iowa, and Joy (Van) Halbert of St. Charles, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:30am Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating.
Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitation will begin after 9am on Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 2-4pm at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
Madeline Christy
BLOOMFIELD - Madeline Christy, 89, of Bloomfield, Iowa died February 5, 2009 at Davis County Long Term Care in Bloomfield.
She was born
May 31, 1919 in West Grove, Iowa to Austin and Eda Luse Bassett.
She married
Johnnie Harold Lasley September 29, 1964 in Lancaster, Missouri.
He preceded her in death in 1981.
She later married
Verne Wray Christy July 15, 1983 in Kirksville, Missouri.
He preceded her in death in 2004. She graduated from Moulton High School in 1936 and from NMSU Teacher’s College in 1964.
She was a teacher in Drakesville, Troy, Moulton-Udell, and the Davis County School System during her career.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Moulton, Iowa.
She is survived by a brother, Wayne Bassett of Warner Robins, Georgia; nieces; and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and a brother, Wray Bassett.
Graveside Services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor James Wakelin officiating.
Visitation will begin after 9am on Saturday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8pm at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Steven Charles Hull
BLOOMFIELD - Steven Charles Hull, 65 of Bloomfield died January 31, 2009 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.
He was born
January 22, 1944 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Kenneth and Floydene Davis Hull.
He married
Karen Lister November 8, 1964 in Scotland County, Missouri.
He was a resident of Davis County most of his lifetime.
He was a member of the Barker United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a daughter Paula Knight of Bloomfield; 2 grandchildren Tait and Matthew Knight; a brother Robert Hull of Bloomfield and 2 sisters Pam Brake of Bloomfield and Pat St. Clair of Pulaski.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Charles and Ada Hull and George “Shorty” and Blanche Davis.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am Wednesday February 4, 2009 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Kramer Smith officiating.
Visitation will begin after 9 am Wednesday with the family present from 10 am until the time of the service to greet friends.
Memorials have been established to the Davis and Wapello County Hospice and the Stiles Christian Church.

BLOOMFIELD - Donna D. Piper, 74, of Bloomfield, Iowa died January 26, 2009 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
She was born
July 24, 1934 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Willard Samuel and Wilma Lois Knupp Speer.
She married
Danny Lee Piper March 28, 1953 in Bloomfield.
He preceded her in death September 8, 1996.
She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church serving as a Deacon and also a member of the C.W.F.
She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary Board, PEO Chapter B, the Red Hat Ladies, and the Sunshine Club.
She was also a member of the Crazy Ace Card Club.
She is survived by a son, Rick (Vicky) Piper of Bloomfield, Iowa; a daughter, Teresa (Ronald) Mathews of Bloomfield; 5 grandchildren, Trent (Christa), Cole and Tess Mathews, of Bloomfield, Natalie (Jon) Boas of Bloomfield, and Eric (Melia) Piper also of Bloomfield; 7 great-grandchildren, Haylee and Danica Mathews, Levi, Spencer, and Gunnar Boas, Cohen and Claire Piper all of Bloomfield; a step-grandson, Travis Mathews of Centerville, Iowa; a step-great-grandson, Preston Mathews of Eagle Point, Oregon; a brother, Gerald “Bub” Speer of Paducah, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 2 sisters, Freda Stufflebeam and Connie Speer in infancy.
Funeral services will be at 10:30am on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor James Wakelin officiating.
Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Eron Jay Prevo
BLOOMFIELD - Eron Jay Prevo, 33 of rural Bloomfield died January 10, 2009 as the result of a car accident. He was born
February 3, 1975 in Burlington, Iowa to Billy Joe and Marcella Lee Pender Prevo.
He married
Melissa Anne Spurgeon April 11, 1998 in Bloomfield, Iowa.
He was a resident of Davis County his lifetime.
He graduated from Davis County High School in 1993 and attended Indian Hills Community College in the robotics program.
He was a farmer, worked for the City of Bloomfield at the water plant and operated Prevo Auction Service.
He was a member of Izaak Walton League, the Troy United Methodist Church, the Iowa Auctioneering Association and the National Auctioneering Association.
He enjoyed golfing, trap shooting and hunting.
He coached Little League for several years and did many benefit auctions.
He is survived by his wife Melissa Prevo; 3 sons Tyler, Colton and Brett Prevo all at home; his parents Billy Joe and Marcella Prevo of Bloomfield; a brother Eric (Stacie) Prevo of Bloomfield; nephews Nicholas and Michael Prevo of Bloomfield; many aunts, uncles and cousins and in-laws Richard and Lynn Whitacre of Pulaski and Marty Spurgeon of Centerville, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Phil and Velma Pender and Arden and Pauline Prevo and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Thursday January 15, 2009 at the Bloomfield Christian Church with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating.
Burial will be in the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski, Iowa.
Visitation will begin after 9:00 am Wednesday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with the family present from 5:00-8:00 pm to greet friends.
A memorial in lieu of flowers has been established to his sons, for their college education.
Jerry Lee Hougland
BLOOMFIELD - Jerry Lee Hougland, 28, of Bloomfield, Iowa died January 8, 2009 from injuries received in an ATV accident in Bloomfield.
He was born
November 1, 1980 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Raymond Augustus and Cherie Marlene Crutchfield Hougland.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and bowling.
His favorite thing to do was spending time with his daughter. He worked at Hougland Repair Shop.
He is survived by a daughter, Celeste Eva Hougland of Bloomfield, Iowa; mother, Cherie (David) Stolte of Blue Mound, Illinois; father Raymond (Linda) Hougland of Bloomfield; sister, Heather Hougland and Fiancé Travis Claflin of Blue Mound, Illinois; brother, Christopher Thompson of Bloomfield; grandparents Robert and Irene Hougland of Bloomfield and Don and Betty Crutchfield of Blue Mound, Illinois; aunts; uncles; several cousins; and daughter Celeste’s mother, Dana Schultz of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patricia Rentfrow and a cousin Jackline Daniele Spurgeon.
Funeral services will be at 11am on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating.
Burial will be in the Bloomfield South Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Open visitation will be from 9am until 7pm on Monday.
A memorial has been established to his daughter.
Mary L. Waggoner
BLOOMFIELD - Mary L. Waggoner, 93, of Bloomfield, Iowa died January 7, 2009 at her home.
She was born
July 27, 1915 in Davis County, Iowa to Arch and Ola Sloan Dooley.
She married
Harold Waggoner June 6, 1936. He preceded her in death October 13, 1998.
She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church, the Davis County Historical Society, and a 50 year member of Rebekah Lodge #1 in Bloomfield.
She lived in Davis County most of her lifetime and was a homemaker.
She also worked at the Tasty Freeze in Bloomfield for several years.
She is survived by a son, Jerry Waggoner and Fiancée Robin Durham of Plano, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Vince (Linda) Waggoner of Garland, Texas, Matthew (Mary) Waggoner of Graham, Washington; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Janet Kay Waggoner; a brother, Trenton Dooley; a sister, Cleo Smothers; and a grandson, Andrew Waggoner.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Rev. James Wakelin officiating.
Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitation will begin after 9am on Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 2-4pm at the funeral home.

Irene Fisk
OTTUMWA - Irene Fisk, 90, of Ottumwa, Iowa died January 5, 2009 at the Ottumwa Regional Hospital in Ottumwa.
She was born
January 29, 1918 in Taylor County, Iowa to Bird Thomas and Ida Whiteside Piper.
She married
Ival Kern Fisk July 20, 1940 in Lancaster, Missouri. He preceded her in death January 16, 1975.
She was a member of the Willard Street United Methodist Church and was a founder of the Dicettes Bunco Club in which she belonged to for over 30 years.
An avid reader, she enjoyed crafts and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet (Jim) Baggs of Ottumwa, Iowa; a son, Richard Fisk of Horn Lake, Mississippi; 2 grandchildren, Michael Anthony (Sara) Patkin of Ankeny, Iowa, Kathryn Baggs of Iowa City, Iowa; 3 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Alex and Audrey Patkin all of Ankeny; a sister, Lorene Simmons of Drakesville, Iowa; and a brother, Paul Piper of Mission, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Carol Patkin; 2 grandchildren, Tracy Jo and Jill Patkin; 2 brothers, Fred and Charlie Piper.
Funeral services will be at 10am on Saturday, January 10, 2008 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor Charles Luers officiating. Burial will be in the Drakesville Cemetery in Drakesville, Iowa. Visitation will begin after 9am on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
