Elaine Allen, 64, of Alexis, died Aug. 2, 2004, at her home.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alexis United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Alexis cemetery . Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis, where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

She was born April 4, 1940, in Monmouth, to Rolland and Edith Bertelsen Niles. She married Earl Wesley Allen in First Presbyterian Church, Alexis, on June 27, 1958.

Surviving are her husband, Alexis; daughters, Linda (Ed) Lehan, Racine, Wis., Connie (Brian) Tollakson, Waukesha, Wis., Patty Allen, Hartland, Wis.; son, Earl (Christina) Allen, Englewood, Ohio; grandchildren, John, Michelle, Caitlin, Andrew and Brendan; brothers, Gerald (Joyce) Niles, Russiaville, Ind., Kenneth (Terry) Niles, Ellensburg, Wash.

Todd Callihan
Todd Callihan, 37, of Little York, died July 31, 2004, at home.

Services are 7 p.m. Wednesday at Turnbull Funeral Home, Monmouth. Cremation will be accorded following services. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born July 25, 1967, in Wichita, Kan., to Thomas and Peggy Johnson Brooks. He married Lori Anderson June 14, 2003, in Monmouth.

Survivors are wife; children, Erica and Shane, Galesburg; stepdaughter, Hailey Ray, Little York; parents, Galesburg; and siblings, Lori Bladel, Durant, Jodi Pascarella and Greg, both of Syracuse, N.Y., and Ron, Morrison.

George Fisher
George Fisher, 82, of Camanche, formerly of Fulton, died Aug. 1, 2004, at Mercy Medical, Clinton.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Visitation, Camanche. Burial is in Grove Hill cemetery , Morrison. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bosma-Renkes, Fulton.

He was born to Albert and Fern Gasaway Fisher. He married Margaret Berkes in 1952. She died in 1998.

Survivors are children, Kathy Kaiser, Camanche, and Jim, Morrison; three grandchildren; four siblings, including Harriet Galetti and Peggy Ladenburger, Bettendorf.

Louis Laughlin
Louis R. Laughlin, 78, of Keithsburg, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.

Arrangements are pending at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo.

Sarah Manthei
Sarah C. Manthei, 83, of Port Byron, died Aug. 2, 2004, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 355 17th Ave., East Moline, IL 61244.

Sarah was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Mason City, Ill., to Raymond and Inza Schussele Asay. She married Clarence Manthei Feb. 3, 1966, in Angleton, Texas.

Sarah was a real estate agent in several different states. She enjoyed playing cards, her two dogs and spoiling her grandchildren.

Survivors are her husband, Clarence, Port Byron; daughter, Betty (Charles) Armstrong, East Moline; sister, Delores (Fred) Spires, Milan; brother, Schrieve Asay, Arizona; many grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Frank; daughter, Florence; and grandson, Jeff.

Clifford Smith
Clifford A. Smith, 84, of Fulton, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004.

Arrangements are pending at the Fulton Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

Frederick Uecker
Frederick B. Uecker, 54, of Fairbanks, Alaska, formerly of Savanna, Ill., died July 6, 2004, at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

Cremation has occurred and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover, Ill., with the Rev. Martha Uecker Nelson presiding. A graveside service will follow at Hanover cemetery . Those wishing further information on Frederick may contact the church.

He was born June 27, 1950, in Savanna, to Warren and Mary Hawkins Uecker. He graduated in 1968 from Moline Senior High School.

Survivors include his daughters, Jeanette McCrum, Sacramento Elk Grove, Calif., and Michelle Mikesell, Kennewick, Wash., and many extended family members and friends in the local area.

David Ackerland
David M. Ackerland, 57, of Davenport, died Friday, July 30, 2004, in Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Larry Faust
Larry J. Faust, 50, of Davenport, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Russell Hillbloom
Russell M. Hillbloom, 83, of Davenport, died July 31, 2004, at Marshalltown, Iowa, Medical.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cunnick-Collins, Davenport. Burial is at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today.

He was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Cambridge, to Martin and Viola Anderson Hillbloom. He married Goldie V. Miller Nov. 6, 1947, in Cambridge. She died in 1988.

Surviving are his daughter, Sandra Hillbloom, Davenport; sisters-in-law, Nadine Roehlk, Davenport, Joan Miller, Davenport, Betty Miller, Tacoma, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.

Terry King
Terry R. King, 51, of Davenport, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport.

Edward Schricker
Edward C. Schricker, 80, of Davenport, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Trinity, Bettendorf.

Services and burial will be private. Memorials go to a favorite charity or Scott County Humane Society.

He was born May 4, 1924, in Davenport, to Elmer and Edna (Rohwedder) Schricker. He married Dorothy McDorman in 1952 in Kahoka, Mo. She died April 22, 1994.

He was a World War II veteran.

Survivors are son, Chris Schricker, Bettendorf; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Schricker, Davenport. He was preceded by a daughter, Leslie.

Leo Brown
Leo E. Brown, 76, of Rock Island died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Military rites will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246. Burial is at National cemetery , Rock Island.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Leo was born March 3, 1928, in Moline, the son of Floyd and Opal Steeple Brown. He married Jacquelyn Little Jan. 7, 1949, in Rock Island.

Leo was employed as an insurance agent and district manager for the John Hancock Insurance Co. He retired in 1985 after 32 years of service.

Leo was a member of South Park Presbyterian Church in Rock Island. He was an avid golfer and tennis player. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors (and spouse) are his wife, Jacquelyn; daughter, Christine Wakeland; son, Craig Brown; granddaughter, Audra White; great-granddaughter, Chelsea White; brother, Barry (Sharon) Brown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, William, Jerry and Donald.

Albert DeSmet
Services for Albert C. DeSmet, 82, of Wildwood, Mo., formerly of East Moline and Deer Grove, Ill., are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National cemetery , where East Moline American Legion Post 227 and VFW Post 2056 will conduct military honors.

Visitation is 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church to have Masses said.

Mr. DeSmet died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the home of his daughter, Teri, in Wildwood.

Al was born Sept. 15, 1921, in East Moline. He married Bessie Huggins July 1, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Albert was a World War II Navy veteran. He owned and operated the Happy Spot Tavern in Deer Grove until the late 1960s. He later worked at the Candle Light Inn, and worked as an insurance adjuster in Sterling.

Survivors include his daughter, Teri DeSmet, Wildwood; grandchildren, Jamey and Peter Johnston; and a brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Lil DeSmet, Rock Island.

Jerome Napiwoski
Jerome A. Napiwoski, 75, of East Moline died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at his home.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

Among survivors is his wife, Laura.

Francis Peterson
Francis W. Peterson, 78, of East Moline died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Forest Hill Health & Rehab, East Moline.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Family Funeral Services, Colona. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, with military rites conducted by Colona American Legion Post 1233. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice.

He was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Kewanee, the son of Walter and Stella Harlow Peterson. He married Roberta Hauger Jan. 1, 1947, in Kewanee. He married Nelma Best Butler Sept. 14, 1962, in Colona.

He was a repairman at the Case-IH plant, East Moline.

He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge 512, Kewanee.

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Nelma; son, Kenneth (Connie) Peterson, Kewanee; daughters, Susan (Al) Kitterman, Sandwich, Ill., and Rose Mulder, Galva; stepdaughters, Sheila (James) Ulmer, Colona, Jewel Peterson, Moline, and Sue (Don) Pace, Milan; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bernard Peterson, Creve Coeur, Ill., and Maurice Peterson, Independence, Mo.

James Brady
Funeral services for James Matthew Brady, 75, Port Byron, are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's cemetery .

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

Mr. Brady died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at his home.

He was born Oct. 1, 1928, in East Moline, the son of James L. and Adelaide Fronk Brady. He married Patricia Donnelly Feb. 25, 1947. On Feb. 14, 2004, he married his companion of 10 years, Judith Williamson.

Jim retired as president of J.L. Brady Co., , East Moline, in October 2000. He had served as a board member at East Moline State Bank and past president of the Rock River Mechanical Contractors Association. He also was a member of the Illinois State Plumbing and Heating Contractors Association, and served on the apprenticeship board for MCAA and the negotiating contract board for the Rock River MCA.

Jim was a pilot and enjoyed boating, golf and travel. He was one of the co-founders of Willow Springs Swim Club, East Moline, was a member of East Moline Rotary, and was a former member of Short Hills Country Club. Mr. Brady was an Eagle Scout and had been a member of AA for 26 years.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Williamson, Port Byron; his children, Pamela Strupp, Moline, J. Michael Brady, Moline, Jessica Brady, Rock Island, Kathleen Powers, Rock Island, and Thomas Brady, Columbus, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. His parents, sisters Eunice Walsh and Anna Jane Hofer, and a brother, Thomas Brady, preceded him in death.

Jim was deeply loved by his friends and family.
