Donald Van Schepen
Donald Van Schepen, 80, of Hull died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Veterans Administra-tion Medical Center, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services were Monday at First Christian Reformed Church, Hull, with interment in Hope cemetery .
Survivors include his wife, three children, 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister, Suzanna Vande Weerd of Rock Rapids.
Gertrude Winter
Gertrude Winter, 90, of Big Bear City, Calif., died Jan. 11, 2003.
Services were Jan. 16 at Lakeview Chapel, Whittier, Calif.
Gertrude Griesse was born Sept. 7, 1912, at Rock Rapids, the daughter of Christian and Frieda Griesse.
On March 7, 1938, she married
Kenneth Winter at Rock Rapids. They moved to Califor-nia in 1941.
Her husband died in Novem-ber 1999.
Survivors include Carol Gresko of Big Bear City, Kenneth Winter of Massachu-setts, Barbara Van Doren of Paso Robles, Calif., nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Harold Langfeldt, 83

Harold Langfeldt, 83, of Austin, Texas, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at South Austin Hospital.
Services were Friday at Christ Lutheran Church, Alvord, with interment in the church cemetery .
Mr. Langfeldt was born Jan. 6, 1920, in Rock Rapids, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Langfeldt. He attended school in Alvord, then served in the armed forces during World War II from 1942-45.
He and his wife, Marguerite lived in Rock Rapids. She preceded him in death.
He later moved to Texas and married
Irene Hicks.
He was a 57-year member of American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; two brothers, William of Rock Rapids and Freddie of Alvord; one sister, Mrs. Ron (Betty) Hasche of Rock Rapids; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Gary (Diana) Anderson of Florida and Minnesota, and Mrs. Jim (Donna) Rogers of Bastrop, Texas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and one sister, Dorothy Langfeldt.
Dale Jacobsen, 67
George, Iowa

Dale Jacobsen, 67, of George died Monday, March 31, 2003, at his home.
Services were Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in George and Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden, S.D., with interment in Olivet cemetery , Lake Norden.
Mr. Jacobsen was born March 2, 1935, in Kingsbury County, S.D., the son of Melvin and Elma (Albertsen) Jacobsen. He graduated from Lake Norden High School in 1954.
On June 8, 1957, he married
Joan Jorgenson in Lake Norden. He graduated from South Dakota State University, Brookings, in 1958. He taught and coached at Wallace, S.D., from 1958-60, then served as an army military policeman from 1960-62 in Georgia and Maryland. He taught and coached at Lake Norden from 1962-65. He then worked at Lake Norden Bank from 1965-77. He was executive vice-president at George State Bank from 1977 until his retirement in 1998.
He was active in the George Chamber of Commerce and in Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was auditor for Residents Encounter Christ Prison Ministry and served on the SDSU Athletic Department's advisory board.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Brian of Hayti, S.D., Dean of Spencer and Brett of Big Stone City, S.D.; one daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Debra) Wadsworth of Hayti; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one grandson.
John Reemts, 96
Rock Rapids, Iowa

John "Jack" Reemts, 96, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rock Rapids.
Services were Saturday at United Methodist Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in Ebenezer Presbyterian (Stateline) cemetery , rural Ellsworth, Minn.
Mr. Reemts was born July 22, 1906, near Rock Rapids, the son of Hilo and Epka (Wildeboer) Reemts. He grew up and attended country school near Rock Rapids. After his education, he began working on the farm with his family.
On Sept. 18, 1928, he married
Susie Meester near Ellsworth, Minn. They lived in Rock Rapids until moving to Canton, S.D., in 1930 where he drove truck. In 1932, they returned to Rock Rapids where he drove truck for Grif Lloyd and later McCormack Transportation. He worked for Pete Menage Produce, Pettengill Lumber Co., and Rock Rapids Utilities. He was head custodian at Central Lyon School 16 years, retiring in the early 1970s. In 1981, the couple moved to Enid, Okla., returning to Rock Rapids in 1996. In 1999, he moved to Premier Estates.
His wife died Sept. 24, 1999. On March 11, 2003, he moved to Lyon Manor.
Survivors include three sons, Vernon of Phoenix, Ariz., Virgil of Worthington, Minn., and Harold of Sayre, Okla.; one daughter, Mrs. Dick (Laura) Mattoon of Humboldt; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Mike of Rock Rapids, and one sister, Jennie Timmerman of Rock Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Vernon, Alvin and Eppo, and one sister, Grace Dahlman.
Emma Hanson, 105
Inwood, Iowa

Emma Hanson, 105, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Fellowship Village, Inwood.
Services were Sunday at Bethel United Methodist Church, Inwood, with interment in Richland cemetery .
Emma Helder was born Dec. 23, 1897, in Fairview, S.D., the daughter of Albert and Eva (Korder) Helder. She attended country school in Sioux County through eighth grade and Iowa State College two years.
On July 25, 1918, she married
Arthur Hanson. They lived southwest of Inwood. While her husband served in the Iowa House of Representatives several years, she accompanied him, took craft classes and then taught those classes to local women.
Her husband died in 1966. She moved into Inwood in 1980 and to Fellowship Village in 1998.
She was a member of the legislative ladies organization; was active in Bethel United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, American Legion Auxiliary, Women's Club, Priscilla's and Bridge Club and was a 4-H leader.
Survivors include two sons, Eldon and Marlo, both of Inwood; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Clarence (Carol) Anderson of Canton, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Harland; four brothers and three sisters.
