Norman Crossley, D.D.S. of Lisbon, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from cancer. A visitation was held Sunday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home in Cedar Rapid. Dr. Crossley was a long-time dentist in Solon and was dedicated to helping others.
He initiated the Iowa Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association and enjoyed various aspects of Thoroughbred racing. He was an avid and skilled golfer from a very young age. Norman was also a dedicated and life-long supporter of Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball. He was also a poet and philosopher who enjoyed life tremendously.
He was born icon Feb. 21, 1928, in Ackley, Iowa, to Agnes and Rev. William Crossley. His hope and belief in a better tomorrow will always be remembered. Survivors include his wife, Pamela; sons, Tom (Hailey) of Idaho and Jon of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Susan Fleck of Iowa City, Becky Nierman of Northbrook, Ill., Sarah Carson of Humboldt, Iowa, and Laura Crossley of Lisbon; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the St. Luke's staff and Hospice for their caring and attentiveness during his stay. Also thanks to all for their well wishes and concern during his illness. Please make donations to your local Hospice and/or Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Calvin Lynn Crosbie, 50, of North Liberty, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Mercy Hospice following a courageous fight against cancer.
Memorial Services will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, at Solid Rock Christian Church, 51 Second Street (Hwy 6), Coralville. The family will begin greeting friends at 4 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Paullina, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Calvin Crosbie Memorial Fund c/o Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 167, Iowa City, IA 52244.
Calvin, the son of Owen and Mildred (Livezey) Crosbie, was born icon December 31, 1959, in Primghar. He was a graduate of Paullina High School and Iowa State University. On June 24, 1989, Calvin married Lorie Dennhardt.
Calvin owned and operated Crosbie Diamonds and Gems in North Liberty, which he established in 1999. Previously, he was employed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (Washington, D.C.), Rogers Jewelers (Cedar Rapids), and Riddle and Ringer Jewelers (Ames). Calvin was also a member of Solid Rock Christian Church, where he served as an elder. In his free time, Calvin enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, gardening and camping.
Calvin will be remembered as a strong man of faith, who trusted Jesus in every area of life. He was loving, honest, and wise... a friend of many and a gifted businessman.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Lorie, and their three children, Candace, Caleb and Joshua; his parents, Owen and Mildred of Paullina; five siblings, Mark (Deb) Arabadjief of Plainfield, Ill., Theodore "Ted" (Rowena) Crosbie of Earlham, Teresa "Terri" Crosbie (Eric Russ) of Hendersonville, NC, Christine Livezey of Holstein, and Nancy (Al) Moton of Pella; in-laws, Frederick and Betty Dennhardt of Davenport; sister-in-law, Christina Smith of Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret Ann Edens, 62, a resident of Davenport, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House after a four-year courageous battle with cancer. Margaret had come to the Hospice House that morning and passed away surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial were held Friday, June 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Burial was held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Solon. Visitation was Thursday at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Margaret Ann Kessler was born icon on June 17, 1947, in Iowa City, a daughter of Michael A. and Veronica C. (Kelly) Kessler, who farmed near Solon. She graduated from Solon High School and received a BA in Elementary Education in June of 1969 from Marycrest College in Davenport where she later received a master's degree in Education.
Margaret taught for 37 years for the Davenport Community School District. She retired in June, 2006. She taught at Roosevelt, Adams, and Jackson Elementary Schools. She spent many hours doing post-graduate work in order to improve her teaching effectiveness. The hundreds of second graders that were in her class will remember her as a compassionate and outstanding teacher.
Margaret married Larry Edens on July 7, 1984, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport, where she was a member. She loved her many friends and their support through her illness made her very happy. Margaret was an outstanding wife and mother who enjoyed traveling with her family. She enjoyed reading books and square dancing. She was active in the Cubs Scouts and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry; sons, Danny and David at home; a brother, John Kessler, Davenport; a sister, Mary Mueller, Baltimore, Md.; nephews, Greg (Denisse) Mueller, Baltimore, and Michael (Kelly) Mueller, Oakland, Calif.; grandnieces, Anna and Sophie Mueller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Lillian and Christ Edens; and a brother-in-law, Loyle Mueller. May they rest in peace.

Jerry V. Hruby, 84, of Cedar Rapids, was called home Monday, May 31, 2010, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Services were held June 5 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Ed Powers. Burial was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 57 years, Lois; his sons, Mike (Dawn) Hruby of Mission, Kan., Denny (Linda) Hruby of Solon and Ron Hruby of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Elizabeth "EJ" (Eric) York of Cedar Rapids and Rob Hruby of Cedar Falls; a brother, Donald (Gladys) Hruby of Solon; a sister, Vlasta Brase of Janesville, Wis.; and five nieces and nephews.
Jerry was born icon Sept. 28, 1925, the son of Joseph and Bessie (Yansky) Hruby, in Cedar Rapids. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On Oct. 18 1953, Jerry was united in marriage to Lois Stodola in Cedar Rapids. For 30 years he was a Cedar Rapids firefighter.
Jerry enjoyed square dancing, camping and taking trips with his family. He also coached girls' basketball and softball teams and was a Cubmaster for eight years.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Kimberly K. (Kramer) Krapfl, 39, of Earlville, died at home Saturday, May 29, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Mass for Kimberly was held June 2 by the Rev. Herbert Tegeler at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earlville. Burial was in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.
Kimberly Kay was born icon Jan. 30, 1971, in Dubuque, the daughter of Ronald Kramer and Ellen (Deutmeyer) Smith. Graduating from Western Dubuque High School in Epworth in 1989, she attended Hamilton Business College in Cedar Rapids, obtaining her administrative assistant degree in 1991. Kim worked at Kann Manufacturing in Guttenberg and Ertl Toy Corp. in Dyersville. In 1995, Kim started at the Medical Associates in Dubuque as an insurance specialist. On April 5, 1997, Kim was united in marriage to Alan Francis Krapfl at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Epworth. The couple settled in Earlville.
Kim was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Earlville, St. Joseph's Parish Church Council, participated in Relay for Life and enjoyed playing the piano. Kim was one of the most positive, inspiring people put on this earth. She touched everyone she knew in a most positive way. Kim encouraged everyone to go that "extra mile" She felt so good when she could help other people.
In her married life, Kim always put her husband and children above all else; she was so proud of her family. How precious was their relationship with each other. Some of the things that were the greatest times in love were attending Clint's ballgames and karate tournaments; going to Avery's dance recitals, as well as watching and listening to Brett play his trumpet. Brett made her so proud of the nice young man he became and the fact that he desired to attend college.
Kim loved warm, sunshiny days and watching her flowers grow. She loved good friends and small things in life. After 39 years on this earth, God said, "I want this flower to come Home" Kim lived with cancer for three years, yet she never allowed herself to let it get her down. She remained strong in mind and spirit. Infinite, love, and gratitude.
Kim is survived by her husband, Al of Earlville; her children, Brett of Dubuque, and Clint and Avery at home; her parents, Ron J. (Joan) Kramer of Epworth and Ellen (Jerry) Smith of Farley; one sister, Robyn (Aron) McDermott of Epworth; a brother, Shannon Kramer of Epworth; parents-in-law, Gene and Betty Krapfl of Earlville; four sisters-in-law, Kay (Gary) Demmer of Farley, Janet (Mike) Orcutt of Earlville, Julie (Shannon) Lahr of Earlville, and Mary (Dr. Brad) Gamble of Dallas, Texas; three brothers-in-law, Tom (Donna) Krapfl of Delhi, Pat (Kathy) Krapfl of Earlville, and Jim (Deanna) Krapfl of Earlville; two stepbrothers, Jeff (Roxanne) Simon of Farley and Chad (Charlotte) Smith of Monticello; four stepsisters, Stacy (Mark) Tomas of Portland, Ore., Michelle Maiers of Minneapolis, Minn., Julie (Chuck) Gile of Manchester and Emily (Brandon) Nitcher of Solon; and many nieces and nephews.
Kim was preceded in death by twin sons, Alex and Andrew Krapfl, in 2002.
In lieu of flowers, funds may be directed to a memorial to be established in Kim's honor.

Leonard Leo Noska, 79, of Solon, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Windmill Manor Care Center, Coralville, after a lengthy illness. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Fr. David Wilkening presiding. Inurnment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the American Legion, Stinocher Post #460. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon.
Leonard was born icon Jan. 15, 1931, near Clutier, the son of Anton Paul and Agnes (Teznor) Noska. Leonard graduated from Solon High School in 1949. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a 56-year member of Stinocher Post 460 Solon American Legion. He was employed by Cherry Burrell Corp./International Paper (Evergreen) in Cedar Rapids for a period of 36 years, retiring in January, 1993. He was united in marriage on Nov. 5, 1955, to Beverly Grissom at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly; daughters Lana (Craig) Hoffman of Mt. Vernon, Lora (Bruce) Zaruba of Tipton, and Lisa (Inez) Camacho of Solon; sons Loren (Cathy) Noska of Solon, Larry (Carmen) Noska of North Liberty, and Leon (Dawn Conner) Noska of Marion; 13 grandchildren, Christopher Hoffman, Carissa (Dan) Thompson, Amber Zaruba (fiance Matt Swim), Austin (Liz) Zaruba, Ariel Zaruba, Zach Camacho, Malinda Noska, Tyler Naughton, Carlie Noska, Junior Noska, Kelly Noska, Sam Noska, and Casey Noska; three great-grandchildren, Makaila, Johnathan Hoffman, and Gabriel Thompson; nephews, Robert (Donna) Radeke of Belle Plaine, and Steven (Joanne) Radeke of Keystone, niece, Jo Ann (Dale) Johnson of Belle Plaine; three great-nieces and four great-nephews; and sisters-in-law, June Grissom and family and Claudia (Tom) Griffin and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Agnes Noska; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and George (Bud) Radeke; nephew, Allen Radeke; and brother-in-law, Harold Grissom.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hospice Compassus, Solon American Legion Veterans Memorial, and Solon Volunteer Fire Department & First Responders.

Frank J. Drahos, 86 of Cedar Rapids died Sunday, August 5 at Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2007 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, where there will be a 6:30 p.m. vigil.
Frank was born icon January 5, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Frank and Amalie Plotz Pospisil Drahos. He served in the US Army during World War II in Germany. He married Maxine M. Barnes on May 16, 1950 in Cedar Rapids. Frank worked for many years at Rockwell Collins until his retirement. He loved spending time traveling and being with his family and friends. Frank had been living with his daughter in Center Point the past three years, but he and Maxine lived on Circle Drive NE in Cedar Rapids for many years.
Frank is survived by his son Richard (Mary) of Cedar Rapids; daughters Cathleen “Cathy” (Larry) Martinson of Center Point, and Paula (Marty) Kloska of Reno, NV; grandchildren: Larry L. (Diane) Martinson, Dale A. (Tammi) Martinson, Christine (Guy) Kelly, Chris (Krista) Drahos, Deanna (David) Brewer, Jeff (Emily) Gollaher, James (Lori) Gollaher, and Amy (James) Steele; greatgrandchildren Amanda, Kurt, Forrest, Kelsey, Wyatt, Calista, Brent, Haley, Jake, Alex, Taylor, Lilly, Brook, Brett, Matthew, Michel, Alley, and James; a sister Alice (William) Mosby of Marion; brothers Stanley (Irma) Drahos of Betram, Wes Drahos of Cedar Rapids and John (Barb) Drahos of Postville, as well as many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Maxine of over 49 years, who died October 13, 1999; two sisters Molly Mach and Julia Lawrence; two brothers Ed and August Pospisil; and a grandson Allen Frank Martinson.
Memorials may be directed to St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Brian Littrell, Jr.
Brian “BJ” Ray Littrell, Jr. 21, of 307 ½ 9th Avenue, Hiawatha, Iowa, took his life at home Friday, March 13, 2009. Services: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his mother and Keith Banks; his grandmother, Shirley Wimmer; his father; half brother, Bradley Littrell; half sister, Lyndsey Littrell; step brother, Chris Burdick; and several members of his extended family.
Born July 7, 1987, in Rolla, Missouri, Brian was the son of Hope Wimmer and Brian Littrell. In 2006, he graduated from Linn Mar High School. Brian was employed by ADM.
Brian was an artist, comedian, musician and actor, who had a love for Asian culture and was a child at heart, still loving his legos. He was loved by his multitude of friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Howard “Howie” Craig, 44, of Manchester died April 27, 2009 following an automobile accident south of Manchester.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. John Flaherty. Family will greet friends 2:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa where there will be a 2:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Additional visitation - one hour before services on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.
Howie was born icon October 23, 1964 in Franklin, Indiana, the son of Homer and Carole (Holderfield) Craig. In 1983, he graduated from West Delaware Schools in Manchester. On May 11, 1996, Howie was united in marriage to Cindy Althoff at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester.
Howie worked at Don’s Standard, Hawkeye Casting in Manchester, and was a co-owner of Woodworks Construction Company. Howie enjoyed attending sporting events, especially being there to support his sons’ events. He volunteered as a coach for football, baseball and wrestling. He enjoyed skiing, bicycling, volleyball, golf and motorcycles. His family and friends were very important to him.
Howie is survived by his wife, Cindy Craig of Manchester; two sons, Dalton and Devon Craig at home; his mother, Carole Craig of Manchester; a brother, Tim (Lisa) Holderfield of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Hilda (Jesse) Bray of Indiana; his mother-in-law, Margie Althoff of Manchester; sisters-in-law, Lori (Tom) Trenkamp of Manchester, Lisa Althoff -Allyn of Cedar Rapids, Paula Althoff of Cedar Rapids, and a brother-in-law, Craig Althoff of Manchester.
Howie was preceded in death by his father, Homer Craig; grandparents, Clyde and Betty Holderfield; father-in-law, Clarence Althoff, and a brother-in-law, Ted Althoff.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Howie’s honor.
