Everett Lyle Bollman, 85, Luana, died Sunday, October 3, 2004, at Franciscian Skemp Hospital, LaCrosse, WI, following a brief illness. He was born
July 29, 1919, rural Luana to Ira Sankey and Edna Mae (Perkins) Bollman. Everett attended Smithfield Country School and Luana High School through tenth grade. On May 14, 1940, Everett was united in marriage to Dora Clark at the United Brethern Parsonage, Postville by Rev. Wm. Suckow. Six children were born
to this union. He farmed his entire life on the family farm. Everett enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseshoes, gardening and wildflowers. He has a dog named “Spook” and a cat named “Bubbles”, both nineteen years old, who were his constant companions. Survivors include his wife, Dora Bollman, Luana; six children, Jerry (Cheryl) Bollman, Waukon, James (Susan) Bollman, Harpers Ferry, Doralee (Dick) Huinker, Monona, Marcia (Ronald) Harris, Luana, Clark (Vickie) Bollman, Waukon, Scott (Kim) Bollman, Luana; nineteen grandchildren; twenty eight grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one brother, Leo Bollman, Monona. Everett was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clyde Bollman, Donald Bollman, Avery Bollman; two sisters, Leatrice Sharp, Helen Price and two grandchildren, Gary and Sandra Bollman

E. Leonard Roberts, 85, of Elgin, passed away Saturday morning, October 2, 2004, surrounded by his family in Cedar Rapids, IA. Leonard was born
May 24, 1919, in rural Volga to Vern & Bessie Jennings Roberts. While serving in WWII, he met his future bride, Margaret Mayne in Northern Ireland. They were united in marriage on November 11, 1943, at Kilbride Presbyterian Church in Northern Ireland. To this union, four sons were born: Billy, Sam, Leon and Dave. During the war, Leonard served in the European Theatre, where he was awarded three Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged on May 30, 1945, at Jefferson Barracks, MO. Leonard was a very proud 60 year member of the American Legion. Survivors include Margaret, his wife of 61 years; three sons - Sam (Karen) Davenport, Leon (Barb), Mulvane, KS, and Dave (Karen), Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren, Michelle Davis, Krista Bentson, Brian Behrend, Stacy Roberts, Terra Bracy, Kelly Gerard, Dawn Lord, Heather Roberts, Brandy Wallace and Katie Roberts, thirteen great-grandchildren, Christy, Shawn, Evan, Abigail, Andrew, Piper, Cheyenne, Lori, Taylor, Michaela, Elizabeth, Madison and Dylan and three sisters, Evelyn, Ardith and Phyllis. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy, who died in infancy and three grandsons, Jeffrey, Dustin and Chad. Beatrice W. Kill, 90, of Edgewood, formerly of Littleport, died Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home. She was born
July 6, 1914, in Cass Township, Strawberry Point, IA. She was the daughter of Flouris and Hattie (Miles) Nading. “Bea” as she was known to family and friends, lived most of her life in and around Littleport, until the flood of 1999, destroyed her home in Littleport. She then moved to Yankee Settlement in Edgewood. Bea was baptized on June 30, 1935, at the Evangelical Church, Elkader and confirmed April 10, 1938, at Hope Lutheran Church, Littleport. She married Raymond “Speed” Kill on July 5, 1934, in Galena, IL. Bea had been very active at Hope Lutheran Church teaching Sunday school, attending Ladies Aide, making quilts with other church ladies and other church activities. After Bea moved to Edgewood, she joined Trinity United Methodist Church and became involved there. She also volunteered at the Edgewood Convalescent Home. She is survived by her two children, Mary (Dennis) Possehl, Marion and William Kill, Bettendorf, four grandchildren; DeAnn Possehl, Denise (Dennis) Grove, Jodie Victoria and Janae (Gerald) Peterson; seven great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Bea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Doris Dahling and two brothers, Irvin and Ronald Nading. Bea will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Memorials may be directed to Hope Lutheran Church, Littleport, or Trinity United Methodist Church, Edgewood.

Kathryn Elsie (Katie) Dygert, 91, died peacefully in her sleep at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, Iowa, on Sunday, September 26, 2004. Mrs. Dygert, formerly from Minneapolis, Minnesota, moved to Manchester following her husband’s death in 2002. Katie was born
in Duluth, Minnesota, to parents William and Elsie Bleecher in 1913. She was educated in the Duluth schools and graduated from Minnesota Teachers College. She taught school in Duluth and then in Lakeville, Minnesota, where she met and married her husband, Robert W. Dygert in 1939. Following World War II, the Dygerts made their home in Minneapolis. Mrs. Dygert was a longtime member of Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church, Chapter E, PEO, and was also a member of Eastern Star, DAR, and various other civic organizations. She was a fun loving person, who always had a smile. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Jerry Emlet of Manchester, IA, son, Jerry G. Dygert of Minneapolis, sons-in-law Kurt Jensen and Donald Drapeau, sister-in-law Betty Dygert Swanstrom; and six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren: Andy Jensen, Kim Drath, Jesse Emlet, Jolaine Mast, Mindy Jensen, Bekky Jensen, Anthony and Amanda Jensen, Annika, Allysa, and Olivia Drath, Regan Emlet, and Rorra Mast. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Marilyn Dygert Jensen; her brother, Robert Bleecher; and other friends and relatives.

October 31, 1913, in rural Decorah, to Ole and Selma (Orvella) Anderson.Gladys was baptized, confirmed and married at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Decorah. Gladys graduated from Decorah High School. On June 1, 1936, she was united in marriage to Melvin “Butch” Glesne at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Decorah. Three children were born
to this union. Gladys was a member of Peace United Church of Christ for over sixty years, Sunday school teacher, fifty year member of the Order of Eastern Star and past Worthy Matron. She was a fifty year member of Coterie. Gladys was a homemaker who enjoyed playing bridge, cooking and working crossword puzzles. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Karen Glesne, Elkader, Denis (special friend, Joan Olson) Glesne, Naples, FL, Maury (Linda) Glesne, Elkader; four grandchildren (Denise (Jules) Alexie, Marrero, LA, Alan (Judy) Glesne, Elkader, Michelle Glesne, Elkader, Michael Glesne, Phoenix, AZ; three great-grandchildren, Vance Glesne, Taylor and Peyton Alexie. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Butch on November 5, 1995.

in Clayton County to John and Mary (Reierson) Wold on January 6, 1911. She was united in marriage to Mervin Anderson on July 17, 1929, in Cresco, IA. Three children were born
to this union. Mervin died in 1965. She was married to Clifford Boldt on May 25, 1969. Clifford died in 2002. Lillian was a homemaker who enjoyed embroidering and being a member of the homemakers club. She was active in her churches over the years. Survivors include three children, Merlin (Lenora Mae) Anderson, Elkader, Elaine Hanson, Waterloo, Sandra Weiland, Iowa City; one step-daughter, Donna Kiefer, Des Moines; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Delores Pine, Marion and one brother, Realto Wold, Edgewood. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Mervin Anderson and Clifford Boldt; sons, Burdette Anderson, and one in infancy and one daughter in infancy.

Irene Vera Elise Thiese, 91, Decorah, formerly of Monona, died Saturday, September 25, 2004, at Lutheran Park Trinity Center, Des Moines, following a brief illness.She was born
on July 7, 1913, in Carman, Manitoba, Canada, to Ben and Lucy (Glawe) Palas. She graduated from Garnavillo High School, attended Wartburg College and earned an Administrative Degree in 1932. In 1975, she earned her BA degree from Luther College. She was united in marriage to Alfred Thiese on February 7, 1934, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Garnavillo. Four children were born
to this union. Irene was a homemaker. She was a member of the Clayton County Republicans, and past Winneshiek County Republican Chairperson. She enjoyed gardening, reading, pottery, quilting, sewing, traveling and loved her cats. She was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, where she taught Sunday and Bible school. Survivors include four children, Paul (Jean) Thiese, Brownsville, TX, Angeline Thiese McWane, Iowa City, Alfred (Joan) Thiese Jr., Brownsville, TX, Myron (Diane) Thiese, Des Moines; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Lorrine Palas, Tipton and Frances Thiese, Minneapolis, MN. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on February 27, 1960, brother, Bernard Palas and son-in-law Glenn McWane.
