Sharon Kay Van Sickle, 61, of Hanover Park, IL, formerly of the Elgin, IA area died on June 1, 2005, at her son's home in Woodstock, IL, following a long illness. She was born
August 12, 1943, near Gunder, IA, to Helmer and Ruth (Houg) Loftsgard. She graduated from Valley High School and an airline school in Omaha, NE. She was employed by United Airlines in Chicago for forty years until her retirement in 2003. She was united in marriage to Dave Van Sickle. Three sons were born
to this union. Survivors include three sons, Darren (Natalie) of Woodstock, IL, Kevin of Hanover Park, IL, and David of Glendale Heights, IL; three grandchildren, Damien, Shelby and Aidan Van Sickle of Woodstock, IL; sister, Norma Halverson, of Elgin; brother-in-law, Jacob Schneider of Elgin; aunt, Lorraine Houg of Elgin and several nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lloyd and Raymond Loftsgard; one sister, Eileen Schneider; brother-in-law, DeVere Halverson; two sisters-in-law Josephine Loftsgard and Lois Loftsgard and a nephew Larry Halverson.

Virginia was born
August 30, 1925, at Quasqueton, Iowa, to John H. and Arlene B. (Klotz) Buchanan. She was raised and educated in the area graduating from the Quasqueton High School. Virginia was united in marriage to Carrol Zimmerman on January 18, 1968. Together they resided in Manchester. Over the years Virginia had been employed at John Deere in Waterloo and Hawkeye Castings in Manchester. Virginia died after a brief illness, Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. She was seventy-nine years of age. Survivors include her sister, Ruth Beckman of Delhi, and one nephew Bruce (Cindy) Lahue of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Carrol; one brother, Harry Buchanan; and by her parents.
Family prefer memorials to flowers and should be directed to the Beckman Complex in Manchester.

Mildred (Millie) Enabnit, age 81 died Tuesday morning, May 31, 2005 at her home in Ryan, Iowa. Millie was born
February 12, l924 the daughter of Paul and Clara (Milroy) Connolly at Hopkinton, Iowa. She attended school in Delhi and then did domestic work for a number of families in the Ryan area where she met and married Darold Enabnit on March 3, l943 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. They were the parents of four children. Before retiring in the town of Ryan in 1986 Darold and Millie worked together farming the original Enabnit family farm southeast of Ryan their entire married life with the exception of the seven years they farmed in the Greeley area. Together they loved going to dances, playing cards and visiting with many treasured and long-time friends and relatives. Darold passed away on November 11, 1994. Millie’s family was always her love and priority. She was a fabulous cook and took great pride in caring for, and entertaining in, her home. Much of her leisure time was spent bowling, crocheting, going to theatre plays and productions and cheering on the Hawkeyes and the Cubs on TV. She is survived by her children: Bill (Merrilyn) Enabnit of Woodbury, MN, Janice McGinn (Jim) Short of Marion, John (Deb Schmidt) and Mark Enabnit, both of Ryan. There are six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Cathy (Dan) Boehm, and their children, Tim and Elizabeth; Corene McGinn (Kris) Walker, and their children Shea and Camryn; and Ann (Dan) Kvaal, all of the St. Paul area; Terry (Kim) McGinn and their son Patrick, of Cedar Rapids; Clint Enabnit of Troy Mills and Cale Enabnit of Ryan. She is also survived by her sisters, Jane Funke and Pauline (Cy) Schultz, both of Manchester, and Mary Kaiser of Earlville, her brother-in-law, Earl Aldrich of Manchester, and sisters-in-law, Charlotte Enabnit of Independence and Maxine Enabnit of Mesa, AZ. There are a number of nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Her husband, Darold, her parents Clara, Paul and Rose Connolly, her sisters, Marie Aldrich and Josephine Gibbs, and her son-in-law, Patrick McGinn, preceded her in death. Memorials may be given to Delaware County Hospice or a charity of choice. Rosary 3 PM Thursday and Scripture Service 8 PM, both at the Funeral Home.

Tilpher Kenneth Bilden, 92, of Elgin, died Monday, May 30, 2005, at the Postville Good Samaritan Home, following a long illness. He was born
May 1, 1913, at his family homestead in rural Marion Township, the son of Hans and Helga (Hansen) Bilden. He was baptized and confirmed at East Clermont Lutheran Church. He attended the Elgin schools. He was united in marriage to Deloris Larson, Elkader on March 20, 1943. Eight children were born
to this union. Tilpher was a lifetime farmer until he retired and moved into his present Elgin home in 1988. Survivors include his children, Ruthie (Jerry) Trudo of Cedar Rapids, Elizabeth (Mike) Bowen of Cedar Rapids, Erling (Mary) Bilden of rural Elgin, Brenda (Dave) Coen of North Carolina, Debra (Noel) Knight of Elgin and James (Joyce) Bilden of rural Elgin; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Deloris on February 28, 1989, a son, Harlan, who died in 1967, serving in the Vietnam War, a daughter, Marian Russ in 2001, two sisters, one who died at birth and Josephine Loftsgard and a brother, Hildor Bilden. Tilpher will be missed by his children, family members and friends. He was a kind, loving, outgoing man, who lived life in a positive way.

on April 8, 1944, in Waukon, IA, to Herbert H. and Lorraine W. (Jones) Schlitter. Dick was attending TASC while living with his Aunt Ruth Hamm. Survivors include one sister, Carolyn (Jack) Brown, Tacoma, WA and a nephew, Jamie Brown, Tacoma, WA. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Rose Marie was born
January 24, 1911, between Edgewood and Greeley to Martin and Mary (Greiner) Holtz. She attended school through the eighth grade at Oneida. In earlier years Rose worked in Pennsylvania and by the middle 50’s came back to Iowa and worked at the Bush Rest Home and later the Delaware County Memorial Hospital until retirement. Since February of 2000 Rose has resided at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. After an extended illness, Rose died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at the Good Neighbor Home. She was ninety-four years of age. Rose was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She will be remembered as one who enjoyed sewing, listening to the radio, cooking, crocheting, and family. Survivors include her nephew, James (Linda) Kerton of Manchester and their family Mike and Melanie Kerton and their son Andrew, and Michelle, Mark, Matt, and Mary Jo Kerton Rose was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Anna Kerton and Irene in infancy.

to this union. Survivors include three children, Dean Holsman of Ames, Janet Warnke of Maynard and Barbara Galden of Iowa City; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Ellen Kozloski of Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Bill Holsman.

Norbert Fritz, 90, Monona, died Monday, May 16, 2005, at the Great River Care Center, McGregor, following a long illness. He was born
November 7, 1914, east of Monona on the family farm, to Edward and Ellen (Bernhard) Fritz. He graduated from Monona High School. He loved to drive Audrey and himself to school in his Dad's black Model T four door sedan. Norbert took additional business classes following graduation to help him manage the family farm more efficiently. Norbert was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church. He lived on the family farm with his folks; after his Dad died, he took care of his Mother until her death. She did have to go to the home in Postville, and he went to see her every day until her death. Norbert was a very devoted man and read the bible every day. He enjoyed played football and wrestling when he was in high school. He loved his dogs, playing checkers, watching baseball, fishing and the Iowa Hawkeye's. Survivors include his sister, Audrey Wickersham, McGregor; niece, Judy (Kay) Emmons, Bloomington, IL; nephew, Tom (Ken) Lehman, Carroll, IA; three great nephews, Steve (Esther) Emmons, Jeffry (Pam) Lehman and Andrew Lehman; three great nieces Shellie (Randy) Tate, Andrea (Mike) Peter and Jennifer (David) Tunning and many cousins and friends. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Ellen.

Helene Gratis (Culbertson) Hansel, 90, of Edgewood died at Finley Hospital in Dubuque on Sunday, May 15, 2005. She was born
on July 15, 1914, in Elk Township to Earl and Winnefred (Ash) Culbertson. At the age of eighteen months, following the death of her mother, she was raised by her father’s mother, Ammie (Harrington) Culbertson. She graduated from Edgewood High School in 1932. Helene was united in marriage to Warren Hansel on August 28, 1933, at Elkport, Iowa. To this union were born
two sons, Cletus and Terry. Helene was a homemaker, and she and Warren farmed all of their married life until retirement. She was a faithful member of the Edgewood United Methodist Church for forty-eight years, was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women and was a faithful member of the Prayer Chain. She was a member of Pythian Sisters for over fifty years, was a Past Chief and was granted a lifetime membership. Helene enjoyed life and loved her family. Survivors include Warren, her husband of seventy-one years; two sons, Cletus (Penny) Hansel of Guttenberg and Terry (Connie) Hansel of Central City; three grandchildren, Steven (Barbara) of Guttenberg, David (Brenda) of Hills, MN and Jeffrey of Rochester, MN; seven great-grandchildren, Warren Scott, Becky, Whitney, Kelsey, Caleb, McKenna and Heather; one great-great-grandchild, Ronan; a sister, Joyce of Edgewood and two brothers, Durward of Edgewood and Wilbur of Grundy Center. Helene was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Merwin and Dale.
