Jeannette E. Collingwood, age 88 of Marengo, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Colonial Manor of Amana following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Douglas Morton officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, April 14, 2008 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
She is survived by a son Dennis Kimm (Anita) of Marengo; two daughters, Janet Gerard (Robert) of Marengo and Debra Scott of Reno, NV; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; three stepsons, Dale Collingwood (Marlene) of Marengo, Les Collingwood (Rosie) of Marengo and Lyle Collingwood (Sherry) of Fairfax; a step daughter-in-law, Marcie Miller of San Diego, CA; 9 step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Alene Murray, a brother, Edwin Barber and three husbands, George Kimm, Jr., Dale Kimm and Gerald Collingwood, a stepson, Larry Collingwood and a step-grandson, Trevor Collingwood.
Jeannette Emmaline Barber was born August 2, 1919 in Belle Plaine, IA, the daughter of Samuel and Flossie Barber. She attended Marengo High School. Jeannette was a homemaker and assisted her husbands in their farming operations.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo and she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and fishing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Thomas E. “Tom” McDonough, age 69, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 10, 2008, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg with Fr. Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Williamsburg. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, March 9, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hall in Williamsburg where there will be a Vigil Service following visitation, and from noon until service time at the church on Monday. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Pat; sons, Mark of Crosby, MN, Matt and wife Julie of Miles, IA, and John and wife Carol of Fort Atkinson, WI; and grandchildren, Jack, Luke, Cole, Drew, Brock, Vince, Breana, and Allison. Also surviving is a sister Mary Ann Shilhanek and husband Bill of Ottumwa, IA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Thomas Edward McDonough was born January 7, 1939 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Thomas William and Mary Gallagher McDonough. Tom’s mother passed away when he was only 16 months old. He was raised by his grandmother, Aunt Bridgie. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1957 and attended St. Ambrose College, Davenport, for 2 years. Tom married Patricia Hawks on July 2, 1960 in Creston, Iowa. He was a life long resident of Williamsburg, a member of the last class graduating from the old high school. Tom owned and operated Home Oil and Tire Company and he also sold cars for Pat McGrath, Community Motors, Potts Motors, and Capper Auto Group, retiring in 2007.
Tom loved Hawkeye sports, traveling and anything related to his family, especially involving his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg, and the Lions Club, served as a volunteer fireman and a Justice of the Peace and also served on the Williamsburg City Council.

Joseph Micheal Kimm, four day old son of Jeff and Tiffany Peterson Kimm, died March 10, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from complications at birth. He was born on March 6, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Funeral Services: 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 13, 2008, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Fr. Jack McClure C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 P.M. Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Tiffany Kimm of Marengo, a brother, Ryan Kimm; grandparents, David and Patty Kimm of Blairstown, and Jeff McBride of Marengo; great-grandparents, Roland and Lucy McBride of Amarillo, TX and Francis and Martha Kimm of Keystone; and aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Regina McBride, and great-grandparents, Orville and Helen Peterson, and Charlie and Elizabeth Breja.

Louise E. Hergert, age 88, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at her home in Middle Amana following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 18, 2008, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana, Iowa with Elder Tony Berger officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Middle Amana Community Church. Memorials may be contributed to the Amana Church Society or the Mercy Medical Center Foundation.
She is survived by a son, Steve and wife Kandi of Middle Amana; a daughter, Mary Sutfin and husband George of Crystal Lake, IL; four grandchildren, Travis Hergert of Mason City, Sarah Gorsch and husband Trevor of Marengo, David Sutfin of Chicago and Tim Sutfin of Oklahoma City, OK; and two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Hunter Gorsch. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl Hergert, Jr. on March 15, 2003, a brother, Martin Shoup, and 5 sisters, Helen Hertel, Marie Flick, Edna Zuber, Lina Clemens and Ernestine in infancy.
Louise Elizabeth Shoup was born January 9, 1920 in South Amana, Iowa, the daughter of Martin and Caroline Fritz Shoup. She attended the Middle Amana Schools and married Carl W. Hergert, Jr. on September 23, 1950 at the Middle Amana Church. Louise was a cook in the Amana schools. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, traveling and visiting with family and friends. In later years she enjoyed taking bus trips. She was an avid Hawkeye fan and also enjoyed watching the Cubs baseball team. Louise was a member of the Amana Church Society.

Iola Jean Dillin, age 77, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, from complications of diabetes. Funeral Services: 2:30 P.M. Saturday, February 2, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church, Marengo with Rev. Gerald Rife officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 P.M. Friday, February 1, 2008 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to REA, Conroy or First Presbyterian Church, Marengo.
Jean is survived by three sons, Charles Roland “Rollie” Dillin and wife Marian of Williamstown, NJ, Larry Bruce Dillin of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Robert George “Tiger” Dillin of Iowa City; a daughter, Rebecca Stockman and husband Joe of Iowa City, Iowa; six grandchildren, Colleen and Angela Dillin, Dana Stevens, Chelsea Dillin McKone, Rob and Adam Stockman; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Lemons and Mia Grace McKone; two brothers, James Farland of Newton and Ronn Farland of Moorpark, CA; and three sisters, Marjorie Kilburn of West Union, Alberta Doane of Newton and Marilyn Greene also of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Robert Dillin on October 3, 1998, three brothers, Wayne, Delbert and Clifford Farland, and a sister, LaVonne Thorson.
Iola Jean Farland was born May 4, 1930 in Newton, Iowa, the daughter of Harold S. and Hazel M. Horn Farland. She graduated from Newton High School in 1949 and married Charles Robert Dillin on August 27, 1950 at the First Methodist Church in Newton. Besides being a homemaker and mother, Jean was active in the Marengo American Legion Auxiliary, the Iowa County Historical Society, the Amana Heritage Society, and the Iowa County Geneology Society. She also was a receptionist for Dr. C. Watts for a few years. Jean was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marengo and the Presbyterian Women’s Association. Jean enjoyed gardening, collecting hand carved santas, and Christmas ornaments such as patriotic ornaments, Campbell Soup and Hershey. But most of all, Jean enjoyed her time with her family and friends.

Rev. Thomas Edward Lentz, age 81 of Marengo, died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 19, 2008 Hillside Wesleyan Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa with Rev. Richard Ernst officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, February 18, 2008 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo where there will be a Service of Remembrance at 7 P.M. conducted by Rev. Katie Dawson. A memorial fund has been established.
He is survived by his wife Betty Hook Lentz; two daughters, Faith Rebecca King (Terry) of Ainsworth and Hope Deborah Lauthen of Iowa City; a son David Thomas Lentz (Kathleen) of Glenwood, IA; five grandchildren, Angela Sullivan of Bellevue, NE, Kristin Kirby (Brandon) of Peru, NE, Brian Lauthen of Atlanta, GA, Shane Lauthen (Sara) of St. Paul, MN, and Andrew Lentz a U.S. Marine presently deployed to Africa; two great-grandchildren Michael Schupp of Bellvue, NE and Mya Lauthen if St. Paul, MN; and a brother, John William Lentz (Betty Jean) of Keokuk. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Betty Jane Lentz of Rochester, MN and Rose Lentz of Omaha, NE as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Helen Ferden and husband Gerhard, and two brothers, Rev. Milton Lentz and Lester Lentz and a son-in-law John Lauthen.
Thomas Edward Lentz was born February 7, 1927 in Rochester, MN, the son of Chester Otis Lentz and Minnie Helen Potts Lentz. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre with the military occupational specialty of Clarinet Bandsman. He received the WWII Victory medal and Army of Occupation medal for service in Japan. Thomas married Betty Hook on August 11, 1951 at the Wesleyan Methodist Tabernacle in Charles City, IA.
He attended Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN, graduating in 1952 with a BA in religion and in 1965 with a BS in Education. He received a Master of Divinity degree in 1974 from Dubuque University Theological Seminary. He also had post graduate education at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI and at University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA.
Rev. Lentz was ordained July 30, 1954 by the Ohio Conference of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of American at the Victory Campground near Galena, OH.
He pastored churches in several states; Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Iowa. Most of these churches were Wesleyan churches but he also served as a supply pastor for some United Methodist Churches in Iowa. He taught in public schools in Michigan as he took his post graduate classes there.
He felt honored that many of the churches he served experienced growth in membership and attendance. He was also honored that he was the pastor of two churches during the planning and construction of new church buildings. One of these was the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Piqua, OH and the other was the Trinity United Methodist Church in Edgewood, IA. Most of his other churches had renovation and redecoration projects during his tenure.
While still a teenager, Thomas began a life-long practice of memorizing scripture and ultimately memorized most of the New Testament as well as large portions of the Old Testament. He approached the ministry with enthusiasm and was recognized as a man of prayer. Rev. Lentz spent 40 years in the pastoral ministry. After that he continued as an encourager and prayer warrior.

Abigale Kay Ellsworth, age 1 and 1/2 months, daughter of Micah and Brittany Ellsworth, died Monday, May 5, 2008 at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City from complications of a congenital heart defect.
Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 9, 2008 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Katie Dawson officiating.
Abigale was born March 16, 2008. She is survived by her parents Micah and Brittany of Williamsburg, maternal grandparents Tracy and Sheila Gronewold of Williamsburg; paternal grandparents, Emery Ellsworth of Salinas, CA and Leslee Libby of Magila, CA; and great grandmothers, Dana Knapp of Coralville and Greta Gronewold of Stanwood.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.

Maxine A. Cronbaugh, age 91 of Marengo, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Keystone Care Center, Keystone, IA from complications of age. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Paul Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Friends may call from 1 to 7 P.M. Monday, April 21, 2008 at Kloster Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 7 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.
She is survived by three sons, Charles (Susan) of Marengo, Robert W. (Connie) of Marengo and Gary (Taryn) of Tama; four daughters, Janet Korns of Brooklyn, Barbara Gensley of Victor, Mary Schwab-Gerard (Jake) of Belle Plaine and Doris Hawkins of Marengo; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil in 1994, a son Celaine in 2004, two daughters in infancy, a brother Milo Stowell and a sister Lela Mase Winnegar.
Maxine Anne Stowell was born September 19, 1916 in rural Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mary McKusker Stowell. She graduated from Victor High School in 1936 and married Cecil Cronbaugh on October 3, 1936 in Gladbrook, Iowa. Maxine was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of the Oaklawn Church of God, rural Marengo, the Koszta Methodist Women Quilting Club and the Dorcas Circle.
