Margaret Teresa Peshek, age 94 of Grafton, WI, formerly of Marengo, Iowa, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Mequon, WI. Services will be held at a later date. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Richard (Sheryl Hibbs) Peshek of Grafton, and Gary (Darlene) Peshek of North Richland, TX; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Mervin Ringler and a grandchild.
Margaret Teresa Ringler was born January 17, 1918 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Antonia Dusil Ringler. She attended the Marengo schools and married William L. Peshek on June 25, 1940 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Besides being a homemaker, wife and mother, Margaret assisted her husband on the farm. She also worked as a waitress, and at Amana Refrigeration as an assembler for many years.
Margaret and Bill loved to go to dances with their friends. They especially enjoyed dancing to the Ken Paulsen Orchestra.

Marjorie E. Cannon, age 88 of Brooklyn, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Brooklyn Community Estate, Brooklyn. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 7, 2013, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Philip Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with a Prayer Service and Rosary recited at 7 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Joe (Patricia) of Murrieta, CA, Jim (Donna) of Sioux Falls, SD, John of Brooklyn, Tom of Urbana, Mary Cataldo (Mike) of Chaska, MN, Rita Sauer (Kent) of Center Point, and Teresa Kriegel (Phil) of Brooklyn; eighteen grandchildren, Joey Cannon, Laurie (Boris) Ilic, Matt (Meg) Cannon, Marymelina (Josh) Schwarz, Patrick Cannon, Christina (Tim) Johnson, John Ryan (Dana) Cannon, Dan Cataldo, Missy Cataldo, Shelly (Paul) Link, Tim (Trisha) Lamb, Mike (Angie) Lamb, Micki (Justin) Willman, Scott (Shelly) Sauer, Adam Sauer, Amber (Pat) Coleman, Ashley (Adam) Krebill and Steven Kriegel; and 25 great-grandchildren, Mallaurie, Alissa, Annmarie, Joseph Thomas, Caryn, Ethan, Madi, Jack, Ashten, Aidan, Adelynn, Gavyn, Owen, Skyler, Jordyn, Lucas, Logan, Layne, Hunter, Payton, Alexa, Dominic, Aliana, Averee, and Aidan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse Francis Cannon in 1988, a sister Maxine Wenger, and a brother Max Ryan.
Marjorie Ellen Ryan was born November 1, 1924 in Brooklyn, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Edna (Ostrom) Ryan. She attended the Poweshiek county schools and graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1942. Marjorie married Francis Cannon on April 25, 1946 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Belle Plaine, Iowa. Besides being a homemaker, wife and mother, Marjorie worked as a beautician, and at several grocery stores, and did wallpapering. Marjorie enjoyed going dancing with Francis, bowling, playing cards and traveling. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marjorie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 63 years, and volunteered at the Iowa City VA for over 5, 000 hours. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn.

Norma K. Major, age 70 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Hartwick, Iowa, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at her home. There will be no visitation. Private Family Graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be contributed to Hospice of Mercy, 315 18th Avenue, Hiawatha, IA. 52233. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.
Norma is survived by three daughters, Brenda Hinrichs (Jeff) of Guttenberg, Sheila Sonka (John) of Ellsworth, IL and Lorene Fiser (Rod) of Walford; six grandchildren, Josh Hinrichs of Guttenberg, Beth Hinrichs of Guttenberg, Tyler Sonka of Edwardsville, IL, Blake Sonka of Edwardsville, IL and Ashton and Zack Fiser of Walford; a great-granddaughter, Leah Hinrichs of Guttenberg; and two sisters, Maxine Burns (Norman) of Brooklyn and Alice Cox (Wayne) of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth and a brother Howard Alden.
Norma Kathylene Alden Major was born July 28, 1942 in rural Udell, Iowa, the daughter of Russell L. and A. Lucille Swaim Alden. She graduated from Moulton-Udell High School with the Class of 1960. She married Kenneth S. Major in 1962 at the Methodist Church in Unionville, Iowa. He died in November 2003. Norma was a writer for the Centerville Iowegian newspaper, and worked with advertising for the Grinnell Pennysaver. She also was a dealer at the casino in Tama for a time. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing cards and cribbage, working word and number puzzle, and reading. Norma was a avid football fan and loved to watch any team play. But most importantly, Norma was a wife, mother, and grandmother and she cherished the time she could spend with her family.
Norma was a member of the Victor Methodist Church, a 4-H leader for the Warren Winners, and a camp counselor. She was a member of the Hartwick Fire Women, and also served as Hartwick town clerk.

Allen C. “Charley” Clinton, age 71 of Norway, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Colonial Manor of Amana, following a brief illness. Memorial Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 5, 2013, Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford, with Rev. David Mosher officiating. The family with receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, January 4, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
Charley is survived by his wife, Iva; two daughters, Crystal Sebring (Derick) of Davenport, and Jolene Austin (Simon) of Squamish, BC, Canada; a son, Vance Clinton of Walford; six grandchildren, Jack and Michael Austin of Squamish, and Hannah, Brooke, Abigale and Madison Sebring of Davenport. Also surviving are his siblings, Bill Clinton (Pam) of Cedar Rapids, Bob Clinton (Kay) of Cedar Rapids, James Clinton (Janie) of Tama, Carol Sawyer of Marion, Barb Hearron (David) of Cedar Rapids and Kathy Ballew of Hiawatha. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ed and Erwin Jr., and three sisters, Rosalee Bryant, Sherry Werner and Elaine Myers.
Allen Charles Clinton was born December 29, 1941 in Lansing, Iowa, the son of Erwin and Ruth Sadler Clinton. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years stationed on the U.S.S. Independence based in Norfolk, VA, and then two years with the Reserves. He was united in marriage to Iva Meyer on June 8, 1969 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, rural Sumner, Iowa. Charley owned and operated his own hauling business for the last 25 years. He enjoyed playing cards, working crossword and sudoku puzzles, reading and computer games. He also liked to go to the casinos. But most of all, Charley enjoyed recycling people’s throw-aways. Charley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford.

Jeffrey L. “Gus” Schumacher, age 54 of High Amana, Iowa, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital, Marengo, Iowa. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 3, 2013, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana, with Elder Emilie Hoppe officiating. Burial will be in the High Amana Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Jeffrey is survived by his son Tyler Schumacher of Iowa City; his mother Shirley Burns of Oxford; two brothers, Mark (Shelly) of Amana and Kevin (Teresa) of Jefferson City, MO; a sister Connie Pegump (John) of Walford; and his significant other, Julie Jeck of High Amana. He was preceded in death by his father.
Jeffrey Lynn Schumacher was born June 1, 1958 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Ronald Schumacher and Shirley Wardenburg Schumacher. He graduated from Amana High School in 1976 and was employed with Wendler Construction, doing concrete work. Jeff married Rebecca Stumpff in 1981 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Norway. The couple later divorced. He was an avid Viking and Hawkeye football fan. He enjoyed playing Euchre and bean bag toss, and was fond of cats. The family wishes to proudly acknowledge that Jeff was a donor to the Iowa Donor Network program.

Victoria D. “Vicki” Tesar, age 53, of Marengo, died Friday, December 28, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Memorial Service: 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 5, 2013, Belle Plaine Community Center, Belle Plaine, with Larry Tesar officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the memorial service. Inurnment will be at a later date. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vicki is survived by her son Nicholas "Nick" Duffy of Bloomfield; her mother, Betty Tesar of Marengo; four brothers, Larry Tesar (Holly) of Excelsior Springs, MO, Dennis Tesar (Heidi Reichhold) of Lakewood, CO, Bryan Tesar of San Francisco, and Terry Tesar (Lisa) of Marion; and her special friend Bill Morgan of Ames. She was preceded in death by her father in 1981.
Victoria Diane Tesar was born February 5, 1959 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Laurence and Betty Fetter Tesar. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School with the Class of 1977. Vicki was employed at Amana Refrigeration as a mold operator for over 34 years. She enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family and friends.

Evelyn J. Mangold, age 74 of Marengo, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at her home. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 29, 2012, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo, with Rev. Andrew Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Tim J. Mangold, Sr. and wife Tracy of Marengo; two grandsons, T.J. Mangold, Jr. (Nicole) of Port Hueneme, CA, and Tyler Max Mangold of Marengo; a great-granddaughter, Brook Lynn Mangold; a sister M. Deloris Dietrich (Dave) of Williamsburg, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Mangold in 2005, two brothers, Carroll Simpson in 1998, and Dreith Simpson in infancy, and a stepson Paul Mangold in 1968.
Evelyn Judith Simpson was born October 15, 1938 in rural Ladora, Iowa, the daughter of Max Simpson and Emily C. Misel Simpson. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1956. Evelyn was employed at the University of Iowa Child Health Specialty Clinic, Iowa City for over 45 years. She was united in marriage to William Paul Mangold on October 2, 1965 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo.
Evelyn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. She enjoyed working on genealogy and also taking her grandchildren shopping and out to eat.

Barbara Kline Parker, age 48, of Brooklyn, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 22, 2012, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Brian Shepley and Fr. Philip Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation: 4 to 8 P.M. Friday, December 21, 2012, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, with the family present from 6-8 P.M. There will be a Rosary recited at 7 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.
Barbara Kline was born October 3, 1964 in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of William and Marcena Zeller Kline. She graduated from BGM High School in 1983 and attended a trade school in Hospitality Management. Barbara married Robert Parker on August 20, 1988 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Barb worked for a travel company in North Carolina, and delivered rural mail for the postal service. She also worked at the school cafeteria and the nursing home in Brooklyn. Barb was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn, the Altar and Rosary Society of which she had served as president. She also was a catechism teacher. Barb was treasurer for the Cub Scouts, and attended the Madison Township Card Club. She loved to garden with her mom, reading, camping and playing cards. But most of all, she just loved being a mom and all the fun and work that goes with it.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Robert Parker, four children, Bobby Parker (Emma) of Grinnell, and Rebecca, Billy and Bradley, all of Brooklyn; her mother Marcena Kline of Brooklyn; five brothers, Joe Kline (Sandy) of Monticello, John Kline of Strawberry Point, Mike Kline (Kim) of Stanhope, Tom Kline of Ames, and Ed Kline (Diana) of Brooklyn; four sisters, Susan Kline of Milwaukee, WI, Cathy McConnell (Curt Manatt) of Johnston, Linda Law (Tom) of West Burlington and Lorry McClenathan (Dave) of Victor; and 52 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, a sister Jane Kline, and her father- in law and mother-in-law, William and Deewies Parker.
