Beverly J. Weiermann, age 76 of Brooklyn, Iowa, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell, Iowa. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 21, 2012, Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn, with Rev. John Reynolds, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Kent Cemetery, rural Brooklyn. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established.
Beverly is survived by her children, Donald (Laurie) of Chelsea, James (Janisa) of Victor and Ada Marie Spooner (Jason) of Tama; thirteen grandchildren, Stephen Weiermann, Jeremy Weiermann, Joshua Weiermann, Tiffany Householder, Derick Weiermann, Madison Weiermann, Makenna Belle Weiermann, Dylan Weiermann, Devin Weiermann, Marcus Weiermann, Jared Douglas, Jordan Spooner, and Michael Spooner; and a special friend Bob McCulley of Brooklyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gordon Lee Weiermann on March 13, 1994, and a son Scott.
Beverly Jean Holmes was born April 1, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of William J. and Vera G. Effinger Holmes. She received her education and graduated from high school in Cleveland, Ohio. Beverly married Gordon Lee Weiermann on July 13, 1968 in Decatur, Michigan. The couple moved to Brooklyn, Iowa in 1972. Beverly was a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn, the United Methodist Women, and Kids Club. She enjoyed helping with Meals on Wheels, and was a den leader for the Cub Scouts.

Leola M. Voigtman, age 94 of Marengo, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 19, 2012, St. John’s Lutheran Church, 780 Court Avenue, Marengo, with Rev. Andrew Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, November 18, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. Memorials may be given in Leola’s memory to St. John’s Lutheran Church Ladies Aid Kitchen Fund, the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Fund, or Essence of Life Hospice. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
Leola is survived by her children, Robert L. (Wilma) of Marengo, Joan L. Hammill (Steven) of Rockton, IL, Nancy L. DeSloover (Victor) of Fredericksburg, IA, Thomas P. (Betty) of Marengo, and Timothy F. of Williamsburg; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law Paul Voigtman (Jean) of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oris in 2003, and a sister Lucille Leahy (Frank).
Leola Viola Margaret Meeks was born August 16, 1918 in Victor, Iowa, the daughter of James and Christine Anna Behrens Meeks. She graduated from Marengo High School with the Class of 1936. Leola married Oris Robert Voigtman on May 26, 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo. A lifelong area resident, Leola was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, playing bingo at area nursing homes, and serving food at the Legion Hall and at the church. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo, St. John’s Ladies Aid, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 76, and R.S.V.P. Leola was a past recipient of the Iowa State Legion Auxiliary Woman of the Year Award.
Leola’s family wish to extend a special thank you to Rose Haven Nursing Home and Essence of Life Hospice for the care and compassion she received.

Margaret Jean “Maggie” McGurk Kirby, age 86, of Marengo, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa. Memorial Service: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 17, 2012, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo, with Fr. Joseph Roost officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo. The family will receive friends after 9 A.M. Saturday, at the church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is handling arrangements.
Maggie is survived by her brother Lawrence “Skeeter” McGurk of Walford; a sister Mary Davis of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law Donna McGurk of Cedar Rapids; and eleven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry in 1986, and a brother Francis McGurk.
Margaret Jean McGurk was born June 26, 1926 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph T. and M. Maude O’Rourke McGurk. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1944. Maggie attended the University of Iowa, Iowa City, with studies in Liberal Arts/Sciences and Humanities. She married Richard Hadenfeldt and the couple later divorced. Maggie married Jerry Kirby on August 25, 1968. She worked with various businesses, including, Amana Refrigeration, Smulekoff’s, Big G Foods and the U.S. Census Bureau. Maggie was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo, the Altar and Rosary Guild and the Marengo American Legion Auxiliary.

Faye E. Gallagher, age 86 of Brooklyn, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at her home. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 12, 2012, Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn with Rev. John Dodds officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established. Memorial contributions may be mailed to the family.
Faye is survived by her children, Dennis Gallagher (Rita) of Belle Plaine, Tim Gallagher (Liliana Maldonado) of Herndon, VA, Gregory Gallagher and John Gallagher, both of Brooklyn and JoAnn Winter (Joe) of Earlville; six grandchildren Denise Gallagher of Cedar Rapids, Nicholas Gallagher (Tylar) of Belle Plaine, Riley Gallagher of Brooklyn and Nichole, Kelly and Paige Winter of Earlville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raphael in 1988, and three sisters, Ada Squiers, Helen Beadle and Carol Squiers.
Faye Evelyn Stone was born January 15, 1926 in Haven, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Florence Rector Stone. She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1943 and then from the American Institute of Business (AIB). She married Mathias Raphael Gallagher on November 5, 1952 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn. Faye was employed at various businesses in the area, including the Carnsforth Restaurant as a waitress, and as bookkeeper for Brooklyn Elevator, Smith Douglas Fertilizer, and Barbara Whisenand. She enjoyed the Haven community, and talking about living on the family farm. She looked forward to coffee downtown with her friends, and taking the children to the state fair. Faye was an avid Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. She was a devoted wife and mother, with her family being her main focus in life.

Florence Stanerson, age 93, of Marengo, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Celebration of Life Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo, with Rev. Andrew Gray officiating. Interment: Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, November 8, 2012, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers are her nephews, Dennis Latcham, Randy Latcham and Craig Latcham all Montezuma; Mike Latcham, Newton; Allen Latcham, Lynnville; David Latcham, Grinnell; and Raymond Latcham, Tucson, AZ.
Florence was born October 20, 1919 near Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and C. Annetta Olson Latcham. A 1937 Grinnell High School graduate, she taught country school in Pleasant Township in Poweshiek County, and later taught in the country school in Koszta the last three years before that school closed. Florence married Wayne Stanerson on June 5, 1940 at Methodist Church parsonage in Grinnell, Iowa. The couple farmed near Koszta from 1947-62 before moving to Marengo. Mrs. Stanerson and Fern Timm owned and operated the Home Decorating Center in Marengo for 13 years. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Altar Guild, an honorary 4-H member, and Marengo Golf Course member. She also was a member of the Marengo Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed her family, cooking, sewing, golfing, and was known for her fall craft bazaars held in her home for 17 years.
Florence is survived by a daughter, Karen (Harold) Joseph, Williamsburg, and a son, Ron (Mary Jane) Stanerson, Marengo; nine grandchildren, Rod (Sandy) Joseph, Williamsburg; Denise (Randy) Stewart, Odessa, TX; Kris (Jerry) Gerard, Iowa City; Amy Schuerer, Amana; Mike (Kelly) Joseph, North Liberty; Mark (Leslie) Ealy, Chandler, AZ; Eric (Joan) Ealy, Orlando, FL; Kirk Ealy and wife Gretchen Theus, West Chester, OH; and Clint (Jenn) Stanerson, Mt. Vernon; 25 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gail (Iona) Latcham, Montezuma and Lyle John (Dorothy) Latcham of Grinnell, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne in 2001, and a brother, Merle Latcham; a great-grandson, Colton Crawford, and twin great-granddaughters, Lauren and Emma Stanerson.

Pastor Donald L. DeMonbrun, age 80, of Marengo, Iowa, died Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Colonial Manor of Amana, Amana, Iowa following a long battle with dementia. Graveside Services: 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Marengo Cemetery with Jim Dusenberry officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 on Wednesday at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Don is survived by his wife Shirley; his children, Susan Hofer (Norland) of Huron, SD, Chris Fullmer (Larry) of Marengo, Frank DeMonbrun (Rose) of Johnston, CO, Betty Rutherford (Bob) of Lombard, IL and Edith Quan (Victor) of Belize City, Central America; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Gerald (Marjorie) of Independence, MO and Douglas (Linda) of Manhattan, KS, and a sister Patricia DeMonbrun of Raytown, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Donald Lewis DeMonbrun was born October 19, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Lewis F. and Beulah Mitchell DeMonbrun. He attended Midwest Bible College, St. Louis, MO, graduating with a degree in Pastoral Studies. Donald married Shirley Marshall on August 11, 1951 in Elviston, Illinois. He served as pastor of many churches in Missouri, Illinois and Iowa, most recently as pastor of Springfield Community Church in Springfield, South Dakota. Donald held many leadership positions in life. Besides a clergyman, he was Youth for Christ Director in Iowa, State Director of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) in South Dakota, Regional Director of CEF National, and State Director of Easter Seals. He was a pilot, a radio announcer, a missionary, and was named the Jaycee’s Man of the Year.

Doloris Ann Meade, age 85 of Williamsburg, Iowa, died Thursday evening, October 25, 2012 at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 29, 2012, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg, with Fr. Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, October 28, 2012, St. Mary’s Parish Hall, Williamsburg, with a Scripture Service at 4 P.M. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
Doloris is survived by her husband William; a son, Thomas William Meade (Sandra) of DeWitt; two daughters, Constance Marie Frohling (H. Kurt) of Raymore, MO, and Jean Ann Wardenburg (Kevin) of Williamsburg; six grandchildren, Andrew Frohling (Krista Rose), Nicole Eastman (Travis), Kyle Meade, John Wardenburg, Joshua Wardenburg and Rachel Meade. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Ardys Fee of Mansfield, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harry Fee, Jr., and Robert Fee, and a sister Elizabeth Plotz.
Doloris Ann Fee was born September 3, 1927 in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Harry L. Fee and Dorothy Condon Fee. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cedar Rapids with the Class of 1946. Doloris married William Clement Meade on February 18, 1950 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The couple farmed in the Holbrook area for five years, and near Parnell for 14 years before moving to Williamsburg. Doloris was employed as a secretary for Farm Bureau for many years.
Doloris was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg, the Altar and Rosary Society, the National Order of Catholic Foresters, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, gardening and playing cards with her friends. She was a loyal Hawkeye fan and the couple held season tickets for many years. Doloris especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s functions and sporting events.

John F. Rohr, age 95, formerly of Marengo, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Friendship Village in Schaumburg, Illinois. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 29, 2012, First Presbyterian Church, Marengo, with Rev. Gerald Rife officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
John is survived by his wife Betty of Schaumburg, IL; two sons, Ronald Rohr and wife Bonnie of Schaumburg, IL, and Richard Rohr and wife Ingrid of Boulder, CO; four grandchildren, Erik Rohr and wife Cindy of Elgin, IL, Brian Rohr of Bloomington, IL, Alyssa Rohr of Portland, OR, and Susanna Rohr of Boulder, CO; and a great-granddaughter, Tori Rohr of Elgin, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Henrietta, and four brothers, Erwin, Oscar, Carl, and Loring.
John Frederick Rohr was born May 10, 1917 in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Charles Rohr and Rosa Beck Rohr. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1935. John worked with his family on the farm for several years, and then served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific. Upon his return he married Betty Margaret Hull on September 28, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Malcom, Iowa. John owned and operated the Rohr Insurance Agency in Marengo for many years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marengo, and the Marengo American Legion Post #76. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club, the Masons, and he served on the Marengo Memorial Hospital Board.
