Eldon C. Pretz, age 87 of Cedar Rapids, died Monday evening, July 13, 2015 at his home following a sudden illness. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 18, 2015, Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy, Iowa with Rev. Gary Sears officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2015 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Eldon is survived by his wife Lyn; a son Larry of Boone; a daughter Karen King of Ely; two grandchildren, Jacob Pretz of Boone, and Shana Haag of Milton, GA; two great-grandchildren, Max and Kingston Haag; two step-daughters, Trisha Thurston and Melody Ewald; and a step-granddaughter, Harper Thurston. A sister Marlene Miller of Marengo also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Loren, and two sisters, Darlene Hacker and Betty Morsted.
Eldon Clarence Pretz was born May 17, 1928 in rural Marengo, Iowa the son of Edwin and Martha Teggatz Pretz. He graduated from Marengo High School. Eldon was the owner and operator of Eldon Pretz Pipe Organ Service for over 50 years. He also worked at the Wilson Packing Company for 32 years. Eldon married Arlene D. Bernards on September 3, 1949. The couple later divorced. He and Lyn Veloso were married on October 5, 1999 in Crookston, Nebraska.
Eldon was a pilot and enjoyed flying in his free time. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy.

Sibyl G. Ryan, age 96 of Marengo, died Monday July 13, 2015 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 17, 2015, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo, with Fr. Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, July 16, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo where there will be a Scripture Service at 7 P.M.
Sibyl is survived by three sons, Thomas (Theresa) of Marengo, Bart (Alicia) of Iowa City, and Don (Kandi) of Marengo; a daughter, Leanne Cronbaugh (Don Max) of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Jennifer Fencl (Blair) of Cedar Rapids, Matthew Ryan (Julie) of Marengo, Calli Walker (Nick) of St. Charles, IL, Abby Kasper (Jesse) of Belle Plaine, Ben Cronbaugh (Amanda Folkmann) of Ames, Elisa Ryan of Marengo and Gregory Ryan of Marengo; and great-grandchildren, Luke, Grace and Hannah Ryan, Mariah and Kaleb Fencl, Camrynn Walker and Reese Kasper, and step great-grandchildren, Max and Colette Franks. Also surviving is a half-brother Kenneth Arnesen (Christine) of Wheaton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Jim in 2006.
Sibyl Georgeanna Arnesen was born February 14, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois
the daughter of George Thomas and Anna Simpson Arnesen. She graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1936, and attended the Chicago Business College. She taught for a time at the college and later worked at Continental Bank in Chicago.
Sibyl was united in marriage to James Adrian Ryan on August 26, 1944 in Chicago, IL. While Jim was serving his country, Sibyl worked at the Bank of America in Los Angeles. Upon his return to the states, the couple moved to Marengo where they farmed, and raised their family. She was a loving wife and mother, who kept busy with the children’s many activities, and community involvement. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo, the Altar and Rosary, the American Legion Auxiliary, PTA, and NFO. When the children were older Sibyl went to work at the Big G grocery store in Marengo. She enjoyed interacting with the people who came through. Sibyl also enjoyed her involvement with Leanne’s School of Dance, especially the recitals. Sibyl and Jim enjoyed traveling, and the family visited many sites in the U.S. and Canada. They traveled to Mexico, Guatemala, and Hawaii, and their trip to Ireland was her favorite. She loved to spend time with her many friends. Most of all, Sibyl cherished her family and was so proud of their many accomplishments and choices in life.

William Leslie Lockhart, age 73, of Amana, Iowa, died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, on Monday, July 13, 2015. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, Dupont Cemetery, Johnson County, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:30 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.
William was born April 22, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Thomas Lockhart and Mamie Neimerck Lockhart. He received his education in the Cedar Rapids school district. William worked for the City of Cedar Rapids Street Department for over 30 years, serving as commissioner for some of that time. He married Susan Hemminger in 1958. William raised and raced greyhounds for the last 25 years.
William is survived by his wife Susan; a son, Robert (Suzanne) of Marengo; four daughters Leslie Vaughn of Cedar Rapids, Sherry Prior of Marengo, Sharon Sebetka of La Porte City, and Micky Lockhart of Mobile, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Ryan.

G. Nadine Berger, age 102 of Amana, formerly of South Amana, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Colonial Manor of Amana. Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 28, 2015, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana, with Elder Betsy Momany officiating. Burial will be in the South Amana Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday after 1:00 P.M. until service time at the Middle Amana Community Church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
Gladys Nadine Huff was born April 20, 1913, near Blairstown, Iowa, the daughter of Edgar and Susan Hartz Huff. She attended the Benton County and Marengo schools. Nadine married Otto C. Berger on June 15, 1935 at the Methodist Parsonage in Marengo. The couple made their home in South Amana where she worked at the South Amana Sandwich Shop for many years. Otto passed away on December 28 1965. Nadine continued to live in South Amana for 46 years until she moved to Colonial Manor of Amana at the age of 96.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and nine siblings, Gertie Schuhart, Mamie Roderick, Claire Wilder, Marie Danskin, Glenn, Lyle, and Mel Huff, Ada Hunzelman and Ida Engel.
Nadine’s family would like to thank Nadine’s “other family”, the staff of Colonial Manor of Amana, for the excellent and compassionate care they gave her over the last six years; Iowa City Hospice for their excellent care, guidance and assistance following her stroke; and Nadine’s South Amana friends who looked out for her all her years at home, especially her later years. She will be missed, but as Nadine would have said it, “We had a good time!”

Ed Kinsinger, age 65 of Parnell, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital. Memorial Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 24, 2015, West Union Mennonite Church, Parnell with Pastor Corey Miller and Pastor Martha Yoder officiating. Inurnment will be in the West Union Mennonite Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 P.M. Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting with arrangements.
Ed is survived by his wife Doris; two sons, Jared Kinsinger and special friend Erin Tucker and her children, T.J. and Ashlee Ferrier, all of Wellman, and Gabe Kinsinger and fiancée Anne Vidnovic of North Liberty; a daughter Candra Nickell and husband James of Wellman; and four grandchildren Brittany and Jonathan Kinsinger, and Collin and Carly Nickell; and a nephew, John Weyrick and wife Jeannie of New London.. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Linda.
Eddie Dean Kinsinger was born November 30, 1949 in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of Maynard and Nora Doolin Kinsinger. He attended the country schools near Williamsburg, and graduated from the Iowa Mennonite Schools in 1968. Ed and Doris Martinson were married June 14, 1975 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Homestead. The couple farmed in the Parnell area for many years. He enjoyed playing cards, ice fishing, camping and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was quite proud of the abundant produce from his garden. He sold sweet corn in the Williamsburg Square, and served as a taxi for the Amish in the area. Ed was a member of the West Union Mennonite Church.

David B. Heusinkveld, age 61 of Amana, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Celebration of Life Service: 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 24, 2015, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana, with Elder Emilie Hoppe officiating. Inurnment will be in the Amana Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 P.M. Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the Middle Amana Community Church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
David is survived by his wife Carol Roemig-Heusinkveld of Iowa City; a son Forrest of Iowa City; his mother Joan Liffring-Zug Bourret (Dwayne) of Iowa City; his brother Artie of North Liberty; step-mother, Dawn Heusinkveld of Cedar Rapids; step-sister K O’Brien of Springville; step-brother J Sheets of Dillon, CO; mother-in-law, Madeline Roemig Bendorf of Iowa City; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful caregiver, John Johnson of Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Heusinkveld, and his son Jordan in 2003.
David Bennett Heusinkveld was born March 31, 1954 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Joan Liffring Heusinkveld. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, and received his bachelor and master degrees in education from the University of Iowa. David was a teacher for 25 years, in the Cedar Rapids school system, working with special education students. His second career was as a nature photographer. Many of his photos were displayed in various venues over the years. His book of photographs “The Amana Landscape” has won several national awards. He and his family loved spending time at the cabin in northern Minnesota on Lake Kabetogma.

Wayne Blount, age 78 of High Amana, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at his home. Graveside Services: 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 24, 2015, Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. A reception will follow at 12:00 noon at the American Legion Hall in Marengo. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to Essence of Life Hospice, Amana or the Amana Volunteer Fire Department. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Wayne is survived by his children, Tamara Schwendinger (David) of Williamsburg, Ronald Blount (Paula) of East Amana, and Daniel Blount of Amana; five grandchildren, Rosie Blount, Elizabeth (Mark) Ohl, Ashley (Tim) Grimm, Abby (Scott) Brikett and Ryan Klein; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Price, Aidan Ohl, Ardan Ohl, Victoria Grimm, and Anabella Grimm; and his siblings, Eugene Blount of Victor, Deloris Miller of Geneseo, IL and Elaine (Larry) Means of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rose Marie Parson Blount, a brother Edwin Blount, and sisters, Geneva Simones, Maxine Gegenheimer, Dorothy Hite, Ruth Ferrel, and Marguerite Kahler.
Wayne Thomas Blount was born February 4, 1937 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Grace Schneider Blount. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1956 and married Rose Marie Parson on August 2, 1958 in Marengo, Iowa. Wayne was employed as a team leader and welder with Marengo Steel Products and Marengo Ready Mix for 8 years, Kraus Equipment in Walford for 24 years, and High Way Equipment in Cedar Rapids for 17 years.
In his earlier years Wayne enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He served with the Amana Fire Department for 17 years, and was a Cub Scout Leader for 6 years.

Douglas R. Maas, age 61 of Kewanee, IL, formerly of Williamsburg, Iowa, went home to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday evening, August 17, 2015. He died at Royal Oaks Care Center, Kewanee from complications of Huntington’s disease. Funeral Service: 2:30 P.M. Friday, August 21, 2015, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, with Rev. Karl Heck officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation: 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday, August 20, 2015, at the church with a prayer service at 8 P.M. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Douglas is survived by his mother Lucille, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Richard on October 13, 1989.
Douglas Richard Maas was born August 13, 1954 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Richard H. and Lucille Weiss Maas. He attended the Williamsburg schools and graduated from Williamsburg High School with the Class of 1972. Douglas was self-employed as an over the road truck driver for many years. He had been a member of various trucking organizations. He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Williamsburg.
