Dean Evan “Dino” Neitzel, age 64 of Brooklyn, Iowa, died Sunday, May 17, 2015 at his home. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 22, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with Rev. Henry Goetz officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, What Cheer, Iowa, with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, May 21, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established.
Dean is survived by his children, son, Roy Neitzel (Tammy), daughter, Jennifer Neitzel (Kevin Robertson) and two grandchildren, Brylee and Davian Thompson, all of Delta; his mother Evelyn Neitzel of Grinnell; a sister Julie Neitzel of Grinnell, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, and two brothers, Dick and Steve.
Dean was born December 25, 1950 in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Marlin and Evelyn Lane Neitzel. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1970 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Dean and Roma Matteson were united in marriage on January 26, 1983 in Brooklyn, Iowa. Although the couple later divorced, they remained friends. Dean was employed with Donaldson’s in Grinnell making mufflers, and then with Manatt’s for over 35 years, driving a dump truck.
He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and mushroom hunting. He liked to watch the St. Louis Rams, and NASCAR, and spend some time gambling at the casinos. He especially enjoyed the many family get-togethers and barbeques on the holidays.

Gilbert Roemig, age 91 of Middle Amana, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Colonial Manor of Amana. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 16, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Pastor Larry Dollmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the West Amana Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Marengo American Legion Post #76 and U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, May 15, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to Essence of Life Hospice or Colonial Manor of Amana.
Gilbert is survived by a brother Theodore “Junior” (Jane) of St. Louis, MO, a sister-in-law, Sandra Ludovissy (Curt) of Amana, a nephew, Jason Ludovissy (Jewel) of Amana and their daughter Gisele, and two nieces, Linda McAlister and Teri Smith of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Lou, and a brother Ralph and his wife Pauline.
Gilbert Roemig was born December 26, 1923 in Middle Amana, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Frieda Kraus Roemig. He received his education in the Amana schools and entered the U.S. Army, serving from 1945 to 1948, stationed in Germany and Italy. His employment over the years spanned with Kraus Equipment, the Amana Woolen Mill, and mostly as a custodian for the Amana Schools.
Gilbert and Mary Lou Ehrmann were married on May 30, 1981 at the New Apostolic Church in Cedar Rapids. The couple made their home in Middle Amana. Mary Lou passed away April 8, 2011. Gilbert was a member of the American Legion Post #76, and the New Apostolic Church in Cedar Rapids.

Charles (Chub) Henry Kleinmeyer, age 87 of Williamsburg, died Thursday, May 7, 2015. Memorial Service 11:00a.m., Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, Iowa with Rev. Thomas Ogilvie officiating. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2015 at the church. Inurnment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be contributed to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, son Michael (Claudia) Kleinmeyer, his sister, Ruth (Dwight) Gahring, two grandsons, Blake (Ann) Kleinmeyer, Jared (Lea) Kleinmeyer, a granddaughter Sheridan Penney (Chris), and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Carol, his parents, and two sisters, Flora (Eddie) Stohlmann and Maxine (Henry) Wardenburg.
Charles (Chub) Henry Kleinmeyer, was born January 1, 1928 in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Martin and Lizzie Sandersfeld Kleinmeyer. Chub attended Lutheran Interparish School in Williamsburg. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1946 to August 1947. On May 22, 1949, Chub was united in marriage to Dorothy Marie Healey in Marengo, Iowa. He lived most of his life in Williamsburg, Iowa. When he was 16, he went to work for Yoder and Swartzendruber at the Ford garage. He worked here until he went to service and then back to the Ford garage upon returning home from service. In 1972, Charles purchases the Sinclair station in Williamsburg. Then in 1979 Chub went to the Williamsburg Public school as bus mechanic and later as Transportation Director until he retired in June 1990. Chub helped build the first golf course in Williamsburg, Sport Hill, and served on the board of directors. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was a former member of the commercial club, Williamsburg Fire Department and Lions Club. Chub enjoyed golfing and doing the crossword puzzles reading and spending time with his family.

Brian K. Moore, age 48 of Marengo, died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at his home, following a sudden illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, July 30, 2015, First Presbyterian Church, Marengo with Rev. Anni Mingin and Rev. Diane Vorhies officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, July 29, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Brian is survived by his wife Gwen; his children, Robert and Darcy Moore, both of Marengo; his parents, Larry and Marjean Moore of Marengo; and a brother Alan Moore also of Marengo. Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Brian Keith Moore was born June 30, 1967 in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Larry Robert Moore and Marjean Mary Matt Moore. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1985. He and Gwen Anne Lane were married November 18, 1995 at the First Presbyterian Church in Marengo. Brian was employed with Kinzenbaw Earthmoving. He also worked at Kinze Manufacturing for a time. He was a member of the Prairie Tractor Pullers, and enjoyed spending time at the Iowa County Fair every year.

Janice Kay Young, age 80 of Marengo, died Thursday evening, July 23, 2015 at her home. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 28, 2015, First United Methodist Church, Marengo with Rev. Matt German officiating. Burial: Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, July 27, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
She is survived by her husband Keith; a daughter Vicki (Don) Schafbuch of Marengo; two sons, Douglas (Andrea) Young, and Dennis (LeeAnn) Young, both of Platteville, CO; eight grandchildren, Travis (Allison) Schlabach, Shannon (Luke) Slockett, Tiffany (Jeff) Simonsen, Chad (Lindsey) Young, Brianne (Shaun) Roberts, Lindsay (Jake) Niebes, Brandon (Katie) Young, and Amanda Young; twelve great-grandchildren, Ashlea and Austin Schlabach, Brynlee and Bryar Slockett, Livia, Levi, and Myla Roberts, Jack and Hallie Niebes and Jordan, Jaylynn, and Madison Young. Also surviving is a sister JoAnn (Ron) Dalton of Marengo.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, a son Vance, a grandson Darin Schlabach, and a sister Joyce Walters.
Janice Kay Hartz was born April 5, 1935 in Ladora, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbur and Leona Kinzenbaw Hartz. She graduated from the Marengo High School with the Class of 1953. Janice and Keith Young were united in marriage on December 31, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a loving wife and mother, who managed her home and family, helped with the farm chores, assisted with the Keith Young and Sons Construction business, and Linn County Ready Mix.
Janice was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marengo. She loved music and singing, spending over 30 years as a member of The Believers. She had an extensive raccoon collection. She also enjoyed tending her flower pots and flower beds, and planted the big planter in the park every year.

Corey Jay Yardley age 26 of Victor, formerly of Marengo, died Monday, July 20, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 23, 2015, Iowa Valley High School Auditorium, Marengo, Iowa, with Rev. Matt German officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be contributed to the Special Olympics or the Marengo Recreation Commission in Corey’s honor.
Corey is survived by his mother and step-father, Wendy and Jamie Claeys of Victor; his brothers, Cullen Yardley of Victor, and Trent Claeys (Samantha Voy) of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Kaela Claeys of Altoona; his grandparents, Ron and Audrey Yardley of Marengo, Ron and Sherry Dietze of Marengo, and David Claeys (Linda Kuba) of Victor. He was preceded in death by his father, Chad Dietze, his uncle Tracy Dietze and his grandmother Linda Claeys.
Corey Jay Yardley was born September 18, 1988 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Chad Dietze and Wendy Yardley. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School with the Class of 2007 and attended Kirkwood Community College for 2 years. Corey enjoyed working with special needs people. He was a talented retail salesman. He was a coach and umpire for the MRC program in Marengo, and had a passion for the Special Olympics. He was an avid Cubs, Hawkeyes and Bulls fan.

Billy Jo “Ole” Olson, age 66 of Marengo, died Friday, July 17, 2015, at the Marengo Memorial Hospital. Visitation: 4 to 8 P.M., Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Marengo American Legion Hall. Inurnment will be at the Marengo Cemetery at a later date.
Billy Jo is survived by a son Clint of Marengo; a daughter, Jamie Hawker of Ladora; and a brother Randy Olson of Marengo. He is preceded in death by his longtime companion, Julie, and his parents.
Billy Jo was born September 22, 1948, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Bill Olson and Harlene Patterson Olson. He graduated from the Iowa Valley School District. He worked as an end loader operator at Manatt’s in Grinnell. Previously, he worked at Marengo Ready Mix and L& J Fabrication for 10 years. Billy Jo enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing poker and video games. He liked to restore old classic cars, work in his vegetable and flower gardens and being with his friends and family.

Jerry L. Johnson, age 55 of Brooklyn, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at his home following an extended illness. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 18, 2015, Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn with Rev. Brent de Silva and Rev. Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Burial will be in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2015 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Danette; his children, Robert (Krystal) of Brooklyn, Danielle Haines (James) of Brooklyn, Becky Johnson of Brooklyn, and Jerrun of Ankeny; and 12 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jacob, Angel, Zanielle, Izaak, Jessica, Anna, Damien, Samuel, Elias, Daniel and Ash. Also surviving are his father, Vern (Mary) Johnson of Hampton; his mother Bernadine Vance Johnson of Altoona; and three sisters, Wanda Tiedt of West Union, Patty Steubert of Olatha, KS, and Lisa Johnson of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Riley and Abraham, his father and mother-in-law Clarence and Anna Schwab, and brothers-in-law, Tim Kingkade, Keevin Johnson, and Edward Crosby.
Jerry LeRoy Johnson was born September 25, 1959 in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Vern and Bernadine Vance Johnson. He received his education in the Allison Bristol schools and attended Lincoln Technical Institute in Des Moines where he received his degree in Automotive-Diesel Truck Technology. Jerry married Danette Kay Schwab on June 2, 1978 at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Dumont. He was employed as a farm hand and also as a driver for Manatts, Inc. for 26 seasons. Jerry liked to remodel and build houses, refinish furniture, and work on cars. He enjoyed camping, Ford Mustangs, John Deere, and Tres, his St. Bernard. Jerry was a loving father and husband and cherished the time he could spend with his family. He also was a wonderful foster Dad to many.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn and the Poweshiek Masonic Lodge #174.
