S. Maxine Henderson, 76, of East Alton, and formerly of Anna, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at 10:40 p.m. at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Charles S. Polach

Charles S. Polach, Jr., age 69 of Anna, died at 8:06 pm, Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at his home. Charles was born on February 5, 1943 in Granite City, the son of Charles S. and Anna (Macko) Polach Sr. He married Georgia Lutrell in 1978 in Belleville.

Charles is survived by his wife Georgia; two sons, Sammy Debusk and Steven Polach both of Anna; two daughters, Tammy (Bruce) Lannom of Dongola and Shirley Pribble of Ullin; five grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany and Kerisha Lannom, Brenna Pribble and Christopher Toler; one great-grandchild, Jaydra Pender; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Polach, Jr. will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:00 am at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anna with the Father Federico Higuera officiating. Interment will be in the Big Creek cemetery in Anna. Friends may call at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro on Saturday, June 16, from 9 until 9:45 am.

Louis 'Steven' Ledesma

Louis 'Steven' Ledesma, 21, of Joliet, and formerly of Spring Valley, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, as a result of an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, today, at Abundant Life Fellowship Church in LaSalle with the Rev. H. Lloyd Curry officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, today, at the church.

He was born on Nov. 29, 1990, in Aurora, the son of Louis Jr. and Londa Aldridge Ledesma Peterson.

He was a graduate of Hall High School in Spring Valley. He liked music and was an accomplished, self-taught musician. He liked singing and playing the drums, guitar and keyboard. He was a writer and had a poem published in Young Authors.

Survivors include his parents, Londa and Kevin Peterson of Anna and Louis Jr. and Frances Ledesma of Joliet; his brother, James Peterson of Anna; two stepsisters, Andrea Peterson of Joliet and Jacquelyn Pizzaro of Glen Ellyn; two stepbrothers, Joseph (Raechel) Suchowski of Addison and Joshua Suchowski of Chicago; his maternal grandparents, the Rev. Joe and Sheila Aldridge of Jonesboro; his paternal grandparents, Luis Sr. and Mary Ledesma of Joliet; great-grandmothers Helen Pacetti of Jonesboro, Mary Angela Stevens of Rock Falls and Merced Q. Torres of Joliet; three aunts, special aunt Angela (Larry) Cyphers of Makanda, Bridget (Tim) Flick of Cobden and Christine Ledesma (John) Valdez of Naperville; one uncle, Tim (Linda) Aldridge of Vienna; numerous cousins, including John and Jessica Valdez of Naperville; and one step-niece.

He was preceded in death by great-grandfathers Rudy Pacetti, Aaron Aldridge and Rafael Torres; great-grandmother Manuela Ledesma; a great-uncle, Ralph Torres; and a cousin, Alicia Aldridge.

Memorials can be directed to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Mueller & Pagani Funeral Home in LaSalle is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Lee Carlton

Mr. Larry Lee Carlton, age 68 of Anna, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Cobden Rehab and Nursing Center. He was born September 10, 1943 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Wilburn and Sarah Chambliss Carlton.

Larry is survived by his two sisters, Margie Todd of Aurora, and Rose Marie Carlton of Johnston City; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

According to his wishes, Mr. Larry Lee Carlton will be cremated. Interment will be in the West Salem cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Services and burial will be held privately.

Peggy Elaine Smith

Mrs. Peggy Elaine Smith, age 62 of Jonesboro, died at 11:37 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012 at her home in Jonesboro. She was born December 10, 1949 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph Vernon Brake and Eileen Marie Wilsey Johnson.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Bobby Smith of Jonesboro; three sons, Troy Allen Smith, Bobby Dale Smith and Larry K. Smith all of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; two sisters, Connie B. Starr of Jonesboro and Dorothy L. Wright of Kansas City, Kansas; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

According to her wishes Mrs. Peggy Elaine Smith will be cremated. There will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home to help with final expenses. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro and Anna.

John Richard Wendling

John Richard Wendling, 69, of Anna, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 2:37AM, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He was born October 25, 1942, at home in rural DuQuoin, Illinois, son of the late Adolph and Aurelia (Petry) Wendling, and lived most of his life in Southern Illinois.

An active member of Anna golf course (Union County Country Club) , he enjoyed golfing several times a week with his brother Joe, and friends. He served as the technician for the SIU Carbondale language lab for more than 30 years. He also served 4 plus years in the Navy as a fire control technician, traveling to Japan and Hawaii. John was a caring member of his extended family, loved by all for his athleticism, intelligence, sparkling personality and wit.

He is survived by brothers Joe (Alice) Wendling of Dongola, Tom (Connie) Wendling of rural Coulterville; sister Cynthia (John) Emerick of Pana; nieces Cheryl Reilly of Mt. Carmel, Jennifer (Tim) Kane of Pennsylvania, Karen (Mike) Hardin of Anna, Mae Emerick of Auburn, Cara Wendling (Ray Schnettegoeke) of Nevada, IA; and nephews James (Gretchen) Wendling of Anna, Jerid (Paula) Wendling of Lithia, FL, Gregory Morris of California, Caine Emerick of Dallas, TX; several great nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Kenneth Wendling, Maurice Wendling, sister-in-law Dori Wendling and sisters Barbara Ann Morris, and Catherine (in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 5-8PM at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with prayer service at 7:30PM.

Services will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, May 31, 2012 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anna with Father Federico Higuero officiating. Burial will follow in Anna City cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.

John will be dearly missed by his family, friends, nieces and nephews.
