Kathryn J. Spicer, 79, of Decatur, passed away at 3:53 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Heritage Health, Mt. Zion.

A service to celebrate Kathryn's life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. The family requests casual attire for services. Burial will be in North Fork cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Activity Fund at Heritage Health. Kathryn was born August 12, 1933, in Macon County, the daughter of Raymond and Kate J. (Wharton) Fox. She married Edward E. Spicer on July 1, 1956. She formerly worked as a bookkeeper at Haines and Essex.

Surviving is her husband: Edward of Decatur; daughters: Terri Robinson and her husband Randy of Mt. Zion and Kimberly Smith and her fiancé Terry Hott of Mt. Zion; grandchildren: Chelsea Robinson-Copass and her husband Ryan of House Springs, MO and Robin Smith and her fiancé Corey McKenzie of Mt. Zion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, four sisters and her son-in-law: Bob Smith.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Heritage nurses: Jamie, Erica, Connie and Tina, all the CNA's who were with her to the end, the activity girls who took such good care of Spicey and her nails, the kitchen staff who always had ice cream and each and everyone else who touched our mother's life while at Heritage. You all made her stay at Heritage special in a big way. Charley W. Stephens
BORN: April 12, 1927
DIED: May 29, 2013
LOCATION: Decatur, Illinois
Charley W. Stephens, age 86, went home to the Lord on May 29, 2013.

A service to celebrate Charley's life will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel, Highway 51, Decatur. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2013, at the funeral home. Masonic Rights will be at 7:00 p.m.. Burial will be in Harristown cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family.

Charley was born April 12, 1927 in Naylor, MO, the son of Ambrose and Mary Stephens. Charley was a private in the US Army and served in World War II in Germany. He was a member of the Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge # 979 A.F. and A.M. for 45 years. Charley was an employee at Caterpillar Tractor Company in inspection and welding for over 31 ˝ years. He was also employed at Lakeside Motors for 45 years. Charley married Betty L. King, October 9, 1947. Betty went home to be with the Lord. Charley and Betty had 3 children: Richard Stephens, Teresa Willard and Kathy Marquis. Charley married Dorothy (Hutchins) Johnson on May 30, 2008. Charley has four stepchildren: Brenda Stovall, Ricky Johnson, Tammy Johnson and Bobby Johnson.

Charley is survived by his wife Dorothy; children: Richard Stephens ( Diana) , Teresa Willard (Robert McCourt) and Kathy Marquis; Stepchildren: Brenda Stovall (Jim) , Ricky Johnson (Kathy) , Tammy Johnson & Bobby Johnson. Brothers: Roby Stephens (Charlene) , Joe Stephens (Delores); Sisters: Marie Tatum (Mart) , Sue Hays (Austin) and Jewell Hays (Charley); Grandchildren: Michelle Ronek (John) , Connie Woodson (Regina Peoples) , Renee Spangenburg ( Dave Rogers) , Jennifer Marquis, Dianna Bell Anderson (Rob) , Vicki Kennedy & Kenneth Cox. 21 greatgrandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Charley was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. (King) Stephens. Parents: Ambrose & Mary Stephens. Sisters: Louella, Francis and Ruby. Brother: Edgar. Grandson: Steve Woodson.

James H Randol
BORN: July 7, 1939
DIED: May 11, 2013
LOCATION: Decatur, Illinois
James H. Randol, 73, of Decatur, IL passed away at 5:25 a.m. on Saturday (May 11, 2013) at Symphony of Decatur.

A service to celebrate James' life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday (May 14, 2013) at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Casual attire has been requested by the family for James' services. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to donor's choice.

Mr. Randol was born on July 7, 1939 in Decatur, IL, the son of Homer O. and Geraldine (Ruthrauff) Randol. James proudly served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Frankfort, Germany. He trained as an executive chef in Chicago, IL owning restaurants throughout his life, cooking for celebrities as well as the homeless. James retired in 1988 as a Major for the Colorado Department of Corrections. He was a member of the American Legion Post 105 and the Lions Club in Colorado.

Surviving are his brother and sisters: Joseph R. Randol of Decatur, IL, Dorothy E. Weaver and her husband Jerry of Decatur, IL, Donna Sue Kendall and her husband John of Decatur, IL, Sandra L. Hurtley and her husband Dave of St. Marys, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and infant sister: Mary Ellen Randol.

Hilda Hall Esh Cox

DIED: May 19, 2013
LOCATION: Champaign, Illinois
Hilda Hall Esh Cox, 94, of Champaign, IL formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday (May 19, 2013) , Pentecost Sunday, at Champaign Urbana Regional Rehab Center, Savoy, IL.

A service to celebrate Hilda's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (May 25, 2013) at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Decatur, IL. Pastor Ron Strack, Senior Pastor of Meadowbrook Community Church (Assembly of God) , Champaign, IL, will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Entombment will be in Star of Hope Mausoleum.

Hilda was born on February 11, 1919 in DeWitt County, IL, daughter of Henry and Ruth (Larey) Hall. After graduating as Valedictorian of her high school class in 1937 she was awarded a scholarship to Brokaw Hospital School of Nursing where she received her RN. She later received her BSN from Bradley University and MPH from Loyola University. Hilda's 40 year career as an RN included serving at Brokaw and Decatur Memorial Hospitals, Peoria and Woodford County Public Health Departments, and Decatur Public School District #61. Her love of God, family and service to others touched countless lives.

Surviving are her daughter: Mary (Jerry) Esh Evans; grandchildren: Kathryn (Kevin) Flint, Jessica (Corey) Darnall, Aaron (Parul) Schlessman; great grandchildren: Logan Johnson and Maleigha Darnall; 6 stepchildren: Karen (Lee) Gray, Michael (Sandy) Cox, Cynthia (Don) VanLyssel, Pam (Fred) Saurmann, Julie (Tom) Clark, Jan (Steve) Coventry; 12 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren; brother-in-law: Woodrow Brookey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: June (Carl) Bray, Helen Brookey; husbands: Harold Esh and Melvin Cox; grandchildren: Joseph Northington and Baby Schlessman; great grandchild: Baby Flint.

Peggy Sue Bollhorst
BORN: March 7, 1944
DIED: May 27, 2013
LOCATION: Macon, Illinois
Peggy S. Bollhorst 69, of Macon, IL passed away at 4:56 p.m., Monday May 27, 2013, in St. Mary's Hospital.

A service to celebrate Peggy's life will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon. Burial will be in Salem cemetery, Decatur. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., Thursday afternoon until service time.

Peggy was born March 7, 1944, in Macon, IL the daughter of Raymond and Mary Ellen (Holdreith) Bollhorst. She graduated from Millikin University with a degree in Nursing and was a Registered Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital and other area hospitals. She had a passion for horses and raised American Quarter horses and was a member of the AQHA.

Surviving is her niece: Audra Bollhorst of Decatur; nephews: Nick Bollhorst and his wife Susan of Lanexa, VA, Jason Bollhorst and his wife Sherrie of Carrollton, VA; and Andrew Bollhorst of Newport News, VA; sister-in-law: Mary Kay Bollhorst of Carrollton, VA; great nephews: Nicolas Bollhorst, Ethan Bollhorst, Mason Bollhorst, and Gabriel Bollhorst; great-nieces: Caitlin Bollhorst, Madison Bollhorst, Rachel Bollhorst, Sydney Bollhorst, and Savannah Bollhorst.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother.

Dorothy Louise Downey
BORN: June 21, 1929
DIED: June 25, 2013
LOCATION: Moweaqua, Illinois
Dorothy Louise Downey, 84, of Moweaqua, IL passed away on Tuesday (June 25, 2013) in her residence.

A graveside service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (June 29, 2013) at West Side cemetery, Moweaqua. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to DMH Hospice.

Mrs. Downey was born on June 21, 1929 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Ralph and Leona (Barber) Price. She was a homemaker and worked at the Eastern Star Home for 4 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Macon. Dorothy married Robert F. Downey on January 10, 1948. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1996.

Surviving are her children: Connie Lee Gilbert and her husband Eugene of Moweaqua, IL, Janelle Wagoner and her husband Dr. Larry of Atlantic Beach, FL, Rev. James L. Downey and his wife DeAnna of Seymore, IN, John Patrick Downey of Moweaqua, IL; brother: Elmer Price and his wife Sue of Denver, CO; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Dorothy Denise 'Dottie' Winberry, 5 brothers: Robert, Donald, Clarence, Melvin and an infant brother, 3 sisters: Hazel, Erma and Rosemary, 2 great grandchildren.

Barry F. Bivens
BORN: February 18, 1946
DIED: June 21, 2013
LOCATION: Decatur, Illinois
Barry F. Bivens, 67, lifelong resident of Thrush Ave. in Decatur, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL passed away on Friday (June 21, 2013) in Covington, IN.

A service to celebrate Barry's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday (June 26, 2013) at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in South Macon Township cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Little Theater on the Square in Sullivan, IL.

Mr. Bivens was born on February 18, 1946 in Macon, IL, the son of John Oliver and Ada May (Marts) Bivens. Barry earned his Bachelor Degree from Eastern Illinois University. He was a retired school teacher for Chicago Public Schools. Barry was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church and was affiliated with the Baha'I faith. He loved his family, friends and his beloved dog Chupper.

Surviving is his sister: Margo Cornwell of Georgetown, IL; niece and nephews: Keeley Stalcup and her husband Robert of Covington, IN, Bryce Carson of Danville, IL, Reece Cornwell of Georgetown, IL and Seth Cornwell of Georgetown, IL; great niece and nephews: Hayden, Chloe, Bryson and Braxton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jimmie D Boyd
BORN: December 20, 1933
DIED: June 18, 2013
LOCATION: Decatur, Illinois
Jimmie D. Boyd 79, of Decatur, passed away in his residence at 1:48 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

A service to celebrate Jimmie's life will begin with Masonic Rites at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 24, 2013 at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Immediately following will be a religious memorial service at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Bowman officiating. He will be laid to rest in Camp Butler National cemetery with full military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital.

Jimmie was born December 20, 1933 in Virden, IL the son of Henry and Theresa (Smith) Boyd. He married Betty Haney in 1968. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2005. He was retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company having been an assemblyman and line operator. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War Veteran. Jimmie still attends the Navy reunions with his fellow sailors. While in the Navy, Jimmie went to the Antarctic and the Arctic Circle serving under Admiral Byrd. He was a member of the VFW Post 99 .He also was a member of the Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge and the Ansar Shrine. He loved Ford's and Harley Davidson's.

Surviving is his sons: Randy Lebon and Keith Lebon; step-children: Christine Schollenburnch, William Marsland, and Loretta (Marsland) Boston; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and his favorite dog: Jack.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, step-son: Robert and step-daughter: Rebecca, two brothers: Henry and Robert and his sister: Dolores Peters.

Emmett C. Sefton
BORN: March 6, 1932
DIED: June 24, 2013
LOCATION: Dalton City, Illinois
Emmett C. Sefton 81, of Rural Mt. Zion passed away at 7:33 a.m., Monday June 24, 2013 in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.

A service to celebrate Emmett's life will be at 12:00 Noon Friday, June 28, 2013 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, with Rev. Albert Weidlich. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Township cemetery with full military rites provided by the Macon County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, June 27, 2013, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Masonic rites service will take place at 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church or First Lutheran Church, Decatur. Emmett was born March 6, 1932 in rural Mt. Zion, IL the son of Ernie A. and Bertha (Kinser) Sefton. He was a 1949 graduate of Mt. Zion High School and went on to serve in the Air Force during the Korean War. He married Joann Koshinski on March 14, 1954.

Emmett was a professional farmer for over 51 years. He served on many agricultural related boards including: Macon County Farm Bureau (President 1979-1985) , Corn Growers Board, Heritage Grain Elevator Board, and the American Soybean Board where he traveled to Japan and Taiwan promoting their agenda. He was a member of the FSA. He was also involved, with others, in bringing the Farm Progress show to Decatur.

Emmett was a 50 year member of First Lutheran Church, the Dalton City American Legion Post #475, 4-H Youth Council, a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and belonged to the Ansar Shrine and Jesters. In 2000, he received the Mt. Zion Lion's Club Citizen of the Year award.

Emmett also served his community on the Richland Community College Board of Trustees having been the Secretary of the board, a Trustee of the Mt. Zion Township Board, a member of the Macon County Zoning Appeals Board, an Election Judge, and a Precinct Committeeman.

He had a love for big band music and was a member of the Juvae Jazz Society.

Surviving is his wife: Joann of rural Mt. Zion; daughter: Sharon Sefton-Jenkins of Decatur; son: Steve Sefton and his wife Georgia of Mt. Zion; grandchildren: Dawn Osborne and her husband Kelly of Forsyth, Tracy Verbiski and her husband Brian of Mt. Zion, Joshua Jenkins of Decatur, Brett Jenkins of Decatur, Jacob Sefton of Harristown, Joseph and Rebecca Sefton of Mt. Zion and Anthony Mancini of Mt. Zion; and fourteen great-grandchildren, special nephew: Mike McGeehon and his wife Julie of Decatur; brother-in-law: Donald Koshinski and his wife Diana of Mt. Zion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Alberta McGeehon, and one great-granddaughter.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Dr. Richard Fritz, Dr.George Lui, Dr.Gale Zacheis, Dr. Mario Velasco, Jr. and the 4th Floor Nursing Staff of St. Mary's Hospital for all their care.
