Glen E. Carver

Glen E. Carver, 84, of 1601 East Jackson, #220, Macomb, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Wesley Village Alzheimer’s Center in Macomb.

He was born Nov. 27, 1915, in Madison County, Ind., to William 'Wid' and Nellie Etchison Carver. He married Gertrude Ellen Parker, who passed away. He later married Clara Louise Haines. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Judith K. Carver Bowman of Billings, Mont.; five grandchildren, Tammy Lynn Brown, Jeffrey Alan Jones, Shawn Carver, Diane Carver and Billie Jo Carver; and two great-grandchildren, Kelly Martin and Morgan Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul Carver; and one son, William Glen Carver.

Mr. Carver lived in Alexandria and Indianapolis, Ind., and Macomb. He worked as a carpenter and was a World War II veteran serving in the Army-Air Force.

There will be no services. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial of ashes will be held at a later date at the Oddfellows cemetery in Alexandria, Ind.

Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.

Ernest L. Caldwell

Ernest L. Caldwell, 75, of 12144 N. 1050th Rd., Macomb, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at McDonough District Hospital.

He was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Littleton to Harold and Beulah Pickinpaugh Caldwell. He married Helen Lung Nov. 21, 1948, in Murrayville. She survives.

He also is survived by two brothers, Merle (Hope) Caldwell of Branson, Mo., and Bradford (Dorothy) Caldwell of Industry; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Alleyne) Bartlow of Littleton, Mrs. Paul (Carol Jean) Rowland of Macomb and Mrs. Sam (Joyce) Spring of North Henderson; two sons, Tony (Kim) Caldwell of Good Hope and Philip of Mt. Sterling; two daughters, Angela (Jeff) Morrell of Good Hope and Gloria (Ed) VanKan of Arlington, Va.; four grandchildren, Noah and Lacee Caldwell and Millie and Joe Morrell; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Caldwell lived his early life in Schuyler County and moved to the Macomb area in 1956.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific theater as an army engineer, and later served in the Korean War.

He worked as a fireman for the Macomb Fire Department for 28 years and attained the rank of captain before retiring in 1986.

He attended and was active in University Baptist Church in Macomb.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 7, at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Rev. Richard Hurtgen officiating. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb.

Full military rites were conducted at the grave by the Macomb Veterans of Foreign.Wars. and the Macomb American Legion.

Memorials may be made to the MDH Larry Westervelt Home.

Billy Ritchie

Billy Ritchie, age 78, of 126 South Farnham Street, Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2000, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born September 28, 1921, in Gilchrist to Elmer Albert and Dora Fulton Ritchie, he married Dorothy I. McNaught on February 21, 1943, in Kahoka, MO. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Dennis of Las Vegas; one daughter, Doreen Johnson, of Wendover, Nevada.; one sister, Bertha Carr of Abingdon; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

He was a heavy equipment truck driver for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 40 years, retiring September 28, 1982.

He was an umpire for the Junior Hardball League for 20 years.

He was a village trustee in East Galesburg for 17 years. He also was the police magistrate of East Galesburg for four years.

Services were held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Milton Marquith officiating.

Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery.

Memorials may be made to East Galesburg Community Chapel.

William Donald Cavanaugh

William Donald Cavanaugh, 78, of 110 North 10th Street, Monmouth, passed away at 6:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, l998 at his home. He Was born September 22, 1920, in Cameron, Illinois the son of Frank Henry and Hazel Violet (Marsh) Cavanaugh. He attended Hale School, Monmouth High School and Peoria Institute of Business. Don married Corrine Beck in Peoria, Illinois, on November 15, 1941, and she survives, Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Bill (Ali) Cavanaugh of Lantana, FL, Patricia (Ron) Fritz of Morris, IL, Dennis (Sheilah) Cavanaugh of Monmouth, IL, Timothy (Carrie) Cavanaugh of Lainsburq, MI., and John (Jana) Cavanaugh of Monmouth, IL; Grandchildren, Richard Cavanaugh of Boynton Beach, FL, Crystal and Marie Cavanaugh of Lantan, FL, Heather Fritz of Sedgewickville, MO, William Joseph Cavanaugh of Monmouth, Christy Cavanaugh of Macomb, IL, Sara Cavanaugh of Monmouth, Nicholas Cavanaugh of Monmouth, Lisa Young of Boise, ID, and John Young of Santa FE, NM; one brother, George Cavanaugh of Tucson, AZ. and one sister, Ruth Manuel of Monmouth. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Robert and Richard Cavanaugh and one sister, Rose Jebb. Don was the owner and operator of Cavanaugh Motors in Monmouth for 54 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth where he served for numerous years on the Church Board. He was also a member of the Monmouth Rotary Club, Illinois Auto Trade Association and was the Secretary of the Board at Security Savings Bank in Monmouth for 37 years. Don was a member of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving from October 1942 until February of 1946. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 23, 1998 at the First Methodist Church of Monmouth with Rev. Bruce Baker officiating. Burial was in Warren County Memorial Park cemetery, Monmouth. Memorials may be given to the First Methodist Church of Monmouth or the Warren County Cancer Society.

Harriet L. Lewis

Harriet L. Lewis, age 72, of 8745 East Sand Branch Road, Astoria, Illinois, died Thursday, October 22, 1998 at 11:33 p.m. at McDonough District Hospital, Macomb. She was born July 9, 1926 in Rushville the daughter of Jess and Gertrude (Myers) Brooks. She married Merle L. Lewis on May 21, 1951 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1998. Surviving are three sons, Jerry Lewis, Simms, MT.; Bob Brooks, of Dahinda, Illinois and Sam Lewis, of Summum, Illinois; three daughters, Beverly Chidester of Fairmont, IN., Annie Stambaugh of Astoria and Chris Wall of Astoria, Illinois. She was preceded by one sister, Edna Lucille Foster. She was a homemaker. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 25, 1998 at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Reverend TimWorstell officiating. Burial was in the Summum cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad.

Felix McVey

Felix L. McVey, 88, formerly of Roseville, Illinois, died at 5 a.m. Monday, October 26, 1998, at Farmington Center in Farmington. Born May 20, 1910, in Warren County, Virginia, to Dave and Florance Thomas McVey, he married Edna Rockhold on January 5, 1930, in Kirkwood. She died January 4, 1998. Two sons and five brothers also preceded him in death. Surviving are five sons, Niven of Farmington, David of Trivoli, Rondal of Maquon, Larry of Elmwood and Vernon of Kevil, Kentucky; one sister, Mary Ross of Minnesota; 26 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was a farmer in Roseville. He was a member of Roseville Nazarene Church and Royal Order of the Moose 1571 in Farmington. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Corman Funeral Home, Roseville with Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the memorial home. Burial will be in the Roseville Memorial Park cemetery. Memorials may be made to his church or Farmington Rescue Squad.

N. Maxine Pedigo

N. Maxine Pedigo, age 79, of 200 North Washington Street, Abingdon, Illinois, died at 7:26 a.m. Friday, October 23, 1998 at her home. She was born August 20, 1919 at Roseville, Illinois, the daughter of Ray and Mabel Enfield Swanson. Her first marriage was to Marston Ikerd. He died August 15, 1980. She married C. L. 'Toncey' Pedigo on June 5, 1983 in Abingdon, Illinois. He survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Cathy Ikerd, Quincy, Illinois; two stepsons, Gaylord Pedigo, R.R. Galesburg and Greg Pedigo, Somerset, Kentucky; three step-daughters, Kathy Lawrence, Bradford, Illinois, Dale Mansir, Colchester, Illinois and Letty Carr, Maquon, Illinois; one brother, Ray J. Swanson, Plant City, Florida; one sister, Louise Hulick, Abingdon; 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter Sue Anne Bower, one granddaughter Nicole Hawkins and one sister Mildred Nordstrom. She grew up in Abingdon and attended Abingdon schools. She later worked at the former Blue Bell Company in Abingdon for 10 years. She and her her first husband had lived in Quincy, Illinois for 33 years where she worked as a line supervisor at Motorola for 26 years retiring in 1972. She returned to Abingdon after her marriage to Mr. Pedigo in 1983. She was a member of First Christian Church in Quincy. She was an avid golfer. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Abingdon with Revs. Steve and Raney Good officiating. Burial was in the Abingdon cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Paul Rockhold

Paul Rockhold, age 73, of Moline, formerly of Roseville, died at 1:27 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 1998, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa. Born February 14, 1925, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Edward and Bessie Fields Rockhold, he married Ollie C. Schisler on December 30, 1954, in Milan. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Paul of Moline and Michael of Davenport; three brothers, Raymond of Rock Island, Robert of Branson, Missouri, and William of East Moline; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Five sisters and one brother preceded him in death. A member of Painters Local 152, he was a painter for McLaughlin Body Shop. He also was a painter for John Deere Company in Moline, J. I. Case in Rock Island and Rock Island Housing. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Corman Memorial Home in Roseville with Rev. Donnie Phomens officiating. Burial was in Point Pleasant cemetery in rural Roseville.

Lauretta Bennett

Lauretta Bennett, age 86, of 420 East Main Street, Good Hope, died at 8:27 a.m. Sunday, October 25 at her residence. Born October 14, 1912, in McDonough County to Chester and Helen Spicer Kessler, she married Myrle Bennett on July 3, 1937 in Davenport, Iowa. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Bruce Bennett of Knoxville and Myron Bennett of Clinton, Pa.; one daughter, Diane Thurman of Moline, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and one half brother, Elwin Kessler of Avon. She was preceded in death by four sisters. She worked at Kewanee Public Hospital; St. Francis Hospital and McDonough District Hospital, both in Macomb; and Roseville Nursing Home. She also did private nursing. She was a graduate of Gem City Business College in Quincy and St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Macomb. She was a member of the Pilot Knob Club and the Retired Nurses Club. She was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home in Macomb. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb.

Junior Frazier 10/22/1998

Junior Ray 'J. R.' Frazier, age 58 of 2122 Newcomer Drive, Galesburg, died at 11:50 p.m. Friday, October 15, 1998, at his home.

Born May 29, 1940, in Salisbury, Missouri, to Ebert J., and Mary Anna Powell Frazier, he married Alice A. Biggs on February 22, 1964, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Jana Frazier, Laura Dutton and Wendy Frazier, all of Galesburg, and Carrie Lira of Stuart, Florida; 11 grandchildren; five brothers, Maurice, Jack, Roger and Mike, all of Galesburg, and Bobby of Abingdon; two sisters, Wanda Doubler and Kay Wall, both of Galesburg.

At the time of his death, he was employed by NAEIR (National Association for the Exchange of Industrial Resources) . Prior to that, he worked for Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corp. for 17 years.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial was in East Linwood cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or any charity.

Angel Hammond

Angel Denise Hammond, infant daughter of Travis Hammond and Katrina Church, of 108 W. South Street, Abingdon, was still born Saturday, October 17, 1998 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.

Surviving are her parents; one sister, Carissa Hammond at home; her grandparents, Fred and Sandy Church of Galesburg, Robert and Nancy Little of Abingdon and Richard Cills of Knoxville; and her great-grandparents, Jay and Marie Hammond of Galesburg.

Private grave side services were held Tuesday at Abingdon cemetery with Eleanor Landon officiating.

Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

W. Daniel Adair

William Daniel Adair, 56, of 412 E. First Ave. died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 1998, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

Born Oct. 29, 1941, in Burlington, Iowa, to William C. 'Bud' and Mildred E. McConnell Adair, he married Linda J. Painter on October 26, 1968, in Monmouth. She survives.

Also surviving are his parents of rural Monmouth; one brother, John of rural Kirkwood; two sisters, Mrs. Larry (Rebecca) Dowell of Strong- hurst and Mrs. John (Mary) Walters of rural Monmouth; and nieces and nephews. He farmed in rural Kirkwood and had worked for Riepe-Petersons Clothing Store in Burlington, Iowa.

He received an associate degree from Burlington Junior College in 1962. He was a former president of the Warren County YMCA.

He was a member of the Army Reserve and achieved the rank of sergeant.

He was a member, elder and deacon of Biggsville United Presbyterian Church and served on various church boards.

At the time of his death, he was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, where services were held at 2:30 p .m. Wednesday with the Rev. Jerry Hazen officiating. Interment was in Biggsville cemetery. Turnbull Funeral Home, Monmouth, was in charge of arrangements.

Rodney Moore

Rodney L. Moore, age 59, of 802 S. Market Street, Knoxville, Illinois, died at 3:06 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 1998, at his home.

He was born December 23, 1938, in Abingdon to Harold R. and Mildred Trimble Moore.

Surviving are his mother of Galesburg; one son, Danny of Avon; one daughter, Jeri Moore Rand of Carthage; two brothers, Virgil of Galesburg and Gary of Irving, Texas; two sisters, Margie Johnson of Knoxville and Connie Healey of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; his friend, Lynn Conn, with whom he had lived; and six grandchildren.

He was an electrician for Moore Electric for 40 years. He was a singer and guitarist for several bands including the Impacs and the Nutones.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 14 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Kevin Treptow officiating.

Burial was in Abingdon cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
