68; Army veteran
Funeral services for Joseph A. Jansing Sr., 68, of Henryville, were held at 11 a.m. this morning, Monday, Aug. 9 at Mt. Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Henryville, with burial in the church cemetery. He died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at the Medical Center of Southern Indiana, Charlestown.
He was a native Shively, Ky., an Army veteran and retired from Iron Workers Local 70 with more than 35 years of service. He operated Jansing Farms in Southern Indiana for 24 years, was a member of the American Legion Post 234 in Scottsburg, was a graduate of Indiana College of Auctioneers in 1993 and was a supporter of White Dove Ministries in Louisville.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Roach Jansing; a son, Joseph "Jody" Jansing, Louisville; a daughter, Andrea F. Jansing, Louisville; a granddaughter, Rachel Brown, Louisville; a brother, Jerry Jansing, Louisville; five sisters, Roberta Dorsey, Fla., Ann Gunther, Louisville, Doris Williams, Fla. and Margie Meadors and Donna Warrick, both of Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph John Jansing; and his mother, Loretta Hillerich Jansing.
Visitation was held at R. D. Pyke Funeral Service in Henryville was from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, and after 9 a.m. this morning at the church.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Mt. Lebanon Cemetery

Joseph S. Allen, 54, of Georgetown, died Thursday Aug. 5, 2004 in Destin, Fla. The body was cremated, and there will be no services.
Paul V. Shrader Funeral Home, New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
Henry F. Cahill
69; formerly of New Albany
Henry F. Cahill, 69, formerly of New Albany, died July 22, 2004 at his home in Tuscon, Ariz.
He was born in Louisville, raised in New Albany, was a retired cement finisher and
Korean War Veteran of the Navy Reserves. He received an honorable discharge.
Survivors include his mother, Lourinda; his wife of 35 years, Nancy; his children from a previous marriage, Rex, Mitchell, Gary and Crystal; two brothers, Russell E. "Eddie" and Guy R. "Robert"; a sister, Norma Harvey and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Marty Lee; his father, Hubert; and his brother, Hubert "Randall".
Graveside services with military honors were held July 29 at Hazelton Memorial Park in Buckeye, Ariz. Ganley's Funeral Home in Buckeye was in charge of the arrangements.
Mary L. Beaver
85; homemaker
Funeral services for Mary L. Beaver, 85, of Sellersburg, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at R.D. Pyke Funeral Service in Henryville with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include a son, Donald L. Carpenter and his wife, Sammy, Jeffersonville; a daughter, Mary L. Gramlin, Sellersburg; a host of step-children; three brothers, William, Bob and Glen Schacherbauer; three sisters, Lena Mae, Evelyn Small and Helen Mendez; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Eubert Carpenter, William O. Noke and Robert Beaver; her father, Andy Schacherbauer; her mother, Zona James and a son, David William Carpenter.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 6, and after 9 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral services for Aileen W. Blasius, 90, of New Albany, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Kraft Chapel with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery
in New Albany. She died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Providence Retirement Home in New Albany.
She was the former Aileen West and widow of Robert Blasius, Sr. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Marion Guild for the church.
Survivors include a son, Robert W. Blasius, Jr., Greenwood; Joy L. Hazen, New Albany; three grandchildren, Allyson Blasius, Erin Smith and Frederick Hazen, Jr.; and four great grandchildren.
Visitation at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St. in New Albany, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 6, and after 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7.

Francis N. 'Bud' Lehnert
80; World War II veteran
Funeral services for Francis N. "Bud" Lehnert, 80, of Floyds Knobs, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, with burial with military honors in the church cemetery. He died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany.
He retired from Ford Motor Company in Louisville after 35 years of service and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Rivercity Post #42 in Floyds Knobs, Hobart Beach Post #1693 of the Veterans of Foreign War in New Albany, the Floyds Knobs Conservation Club and a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Litkenhous Lehnert and one grandchild.
Survivors include four daughters, Rebecca Giles and her husband, Steve, Floyds Knobs, Ruth Kruer and her husband, Stephen, Georgetown, Linda Keithley, New Albany and Joyce Caulfield and her husband, Mark, Coral Springs, Fla.; a sister, Marcella Whiteman, New Albany; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Visitation at Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane in New Albany, will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Gladys E. Powell Maier
95; former City of New Albany employee
Funeral services for Gladys E. Powell Maier, 95, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. She died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany.
She was a native of New Albany and a former resident of Eglewood, Fla. She was a former employee of the City of New Albany and a member of Silver Street United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Maier, and her brother, Arthur L. Powell, of California.
Survivors inlcude a daughter, Nancy S. Keeler, Lanesville; a son, Robert L. Maier, Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Ln. in New Albany, is handling arrangements.
Mary Alice Young
65; member of Culbertson Baptist Church
Funeral services for Mary Alice Young, 65, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Market St. Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Wedgewood Health Care in Clarksville.
She was a native of Jeffersonville and a member of Culbertson Baptist Church in New Albany.
Survivors include a sister, Gayle R. Mathis, Jeffersonville; a nephew, Steve Young, New Albany; two nieces, Connie Staser, Floyds Knobs and Marsha Ward, Clarksville; two great nephews and one great great nephew.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 6.

Howard "Sid" Haskins
88; member of Advent Christian Church
Funeral services for Howard "Sid" Haskins, 88, of New Albany, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd. in New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Providence Retirement Home in New Albany.
He was a retired employee of General Plywood in New Albany, a member of Advent Christian Church and the custodian at the church for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Trancy Sigler Haskins; a brother, Alfred Haskins; and two sisters, Helen Hooks and Phyllis Haskins.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Inez Curl Haskins; three sons, Rick Haskins and William Haskins, both of New Albany; and Steve Haskins, Greenville, Oh.; two daughters, Deanna Hollopeter, Springfield Oh. and Mary Ann Maple, Corydon; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Aug. 5, and after 9 a.m. Friday.
