Helen L. Stevens
Boonville resident Helen L. Stevens died Sunday Dec. 22, 2002 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. She was 80.
Helen was a member of the New Hope General Baptist Church and a member of the Boonville Homemakers Extension Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Ernest E. Stevens, in 1970 and a son, Richard Stevens, in 1972.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Bettye Sandage of Boonville; three sons, Jon Stevens of Oakland City, Donnie Gosk of Belvidere, Ill., Jerry Greenlee of Madisonville, Ky.; a sister, Sally Hess of Chandler; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday Dec. 27, at Koehler Funeral Home-Boonville Chapel, with Rev. Gilbert Powell officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery
in Boonville.
Memorials may be made to the New Hope General Baptist Church.
Orin C. Welborn Jr.
Santa Claus resident, Orin C. Welborn Jr., died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Deconess Hospital.
Orin served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 61st Armored Infantry Battalion, serving in Central Europe. He married Ruth Curshellas on February 15, 1947. They were married 47 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth A. Wellborn Jan. 15, 1994 and his sister Joyce Baker of Chicago.
Orin is survived by: two daughters, Patricia Gates of Dale, Barbara Gates of Gentryville; four sisters, Alene Miles, Gloria Linhart, and Barbara King all of Chicago, Ill., Marian O'Rourke; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, March 7 at Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory in Dale with burial in Garrison Chapel Cemetery.
John B. Hardesty
Former Dale resident John B. Hardesty died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at Memorial Southwest Hospital in Houston, Texas of natural causes.
John was born Feb. 8, 1948 in Louisville, Ky. to James Leo Hardesty and Elizabeth Feland Hardesty. He graduated from Brescia College in Owensboro, Ky. and he was an accountant in Texas.
John is survived by his parents, James and Elizabeth Hardesty of Dale; a brother, Mike Hardesty of Dale; four sisters, Mary Niehaus of Santa Claus, Margaret Beard of Carmel, Janet Reust of Lafayette and Cathy Kochis of Huntsville, Ala. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Andrew Hardesty and Francis Leo Hardesty.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 28 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish Center in Dale. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Fr. Jim Sauer officiated.
Rev. Albert S. Schmitt
Former Dale resident Rev. Albert S. Schmitt died Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minn. He was 103.
Albert Samuel Schmitt, son of Samuel and Wilhelmina Schmitt, was born March 20, 1900, at the family farm near Dale. He was the youngest of eight children of the Schmitts.
Albert felt the call to Christian ministry while attending an E. Stanley Jones summer "Ashram" at the Santa Claus Methodist Church. He was the 21st young person to go from this small church into Christian service. Rev. Schmitt served several churches in Indiana, including Ebenezer in Boonville.
Rev. Schmitt volunteered as chaplain in the USNR in 1943. He was honorably discharged from active duty in January of 1946 with the rank of Lt. Commander.
He retired from the ministry in 1966, although he continued serving part-time for several years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae Lou (Kaetzel) Schmitt, in 1969; a son, Michael Perrine, in 2000; and a daughter-in-law, Jean Perrine, in March of this year.
Rev. Schmitt is survived by his wife, (whom he married in 1971), Lois Colby (Perrine) Schmitt of Fairmont, Minn.; a daughter, Ruth Flannelly of Arlington, Va.; two sons, Rev. Byron Perrine of Olivia, Minn., and Dan Perrine of Lexington, Ky.; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 5 at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont, Minn., with Rev. David Taylor officiating.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 28 at 10 a.m. at the Dale United Methodist Church in Dale with burial following in the Santa Claus United Methodist Church Cemetery
in Santa Claus.
Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory in Dale is handling the arrangements.

Bertha Ellis
Boonville resident Bertha E. Ellis died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at the Woodmont Health Campus in Boonville. She was 92.
Bertha was born May 31, 1911 to George W. and Mary M. (Angel) Ellis in Ohio Township in Warrick County. She was a graduate of Newburgh High School and of Lockyears Business College in Evansville. She retired from Floyd Lemmons Trucking as a bookkeeper. Bertha was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church of Boonville.
She is survived by a sister-in-law and nine nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 14 at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel with Rev. Janice Heseman officiating. Burial followed in Sharon Cemetery
in Newburgh.
Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse Association Hospice.
Kenneth Underwood
Greenville resident Kenneth Allen Underwood died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001 at his home. His death is being investigated by the Muhlenberg County coroner's office. He was 28.
He is survived by two daughters, Brianna and Brooklyn Underwood, both of Boonville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Underwood of Greenville; two sisters, Sonja Underwood of Bremen and Stephanie Underwood of Greenville; two brothers, Thalbert and Brian, both of Greenville and a grandfather, Tally Ray Young of Nelson Creek.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 14 at Tucker Funeral Home Central City Chapel with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery
in Central City.
Eulis Duvall
Newburgh resident Eulis Howard Duvall died Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was 88.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 27 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery
in Evansville. The Rev. Kinneth Hester officiated.
William F. Bell
Former Boonville resident William F. Bell of Blue Springs, Mo. died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002 in Independence, Mo. He was 68.
He was a retired diesel mechanic and a
Korean War Air Force Veteran.
He is survived by three daughters, Shannon Brisco, Sherry Baxter and Sheila Polson and five granddaughters of Blue Springs, Mo.; two sisters, Wanda Wire of Boonville and Eloise Reising of Evansville; two brothers, Glenn of Evansville and Richard of Jasper, Ala.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, with military rites, were held Friday, Aug. 16 in Grain Valley, Mo.
Mary Seibert
Chandler resident Mary L. Seibert died Tuesday Dec. 24, 2002 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. She was 70.
Mary was a member of Grace Community Church in Chandler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Seibert in 1991.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Marcia Kiegel of Chandler; two sons, Bill W. and Mike Allen Seibert both of Chandler; five sisters, Jeanette Houchin of Newburgh, Maxine Stacy of Chaffee Mo., Marjorie Kelley of Texas, Ruth Hill of Boonville, Phyllis Kelley of California; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and Nephews. Funeral services were Friday Dec. 27 at Koeher Funeral Home-Perigo Chapel handled arragements. Shiloh Cemetery

Lois Flint
Former Boonville resident Lois Flint died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003 at the Redlands Healthcare Center in Redlands Calif. She was 84.
Lois lived in the Boonville area before moving to Redlands Calif. in 1999 to be close to a nephew. She had lived at Mission Commons for the three years prior to moving to the Sunkiss Board and Care in Colton, Calif. Lois was born May 14, 1918 in rural Warrick County to Sylvester C. and Anna L (Walters) Mitchell. Lois was a graduate of Boonville High School, Class of 1936 and a graduate of the University of Evansville in 1971. She was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church, Boonville and a 60-year member of the Boonville Eastern Star #450 where she was a past matron and a member of the Amaranth. While living in California, Lois attended the First Presbyterian Church in Redlands. Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Homor J. Flint in 1995, and a son, David Flint.
Lois is survived by: several nieces and nephews, including Susan Hunt of Newburgh, and Glenn Mitchell of Redland, Calif.
Memorial services were Sunday, March 9 from Main Street General Baptist Church. A private burial was in Center Cemetery
near Boonville.

Anna Belle Cole
Boonville resident Anna Belle Cole passed away on Monday, April 21, 2003 at the Baker's Rest Haven in Boonville. She was 94.
Anna was born April 15, 1919 in Evansville to George and Nettie Clary. She was a 1937 graduate of Bosse High School and after graduation worked for Crown Pottery. Anna was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary and a member of the First Christian Church in Evansville where she was also baptized. She married James C. Cole on Dec.18, 1948. She and her husband, who served in the Army, had many travels including overseas travel to Okinawa, Japan. She was a homemaker and enjoyed dancing. Anna Belle never met a stranger and was a compassionate lady who dearly loved her family.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Susie Peerman and her husband, John; her son, Jim Cole and his wife, Valerie; four grandchildren, Shelly Marksbury and her husband, Tom, Cole Peerman, Jacob Peerman, and Autumn Cole; two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Payton Marksbury. Anna was preceded in death by her husband James in 1961; her brother William "Bill" Clary and a sister, Margaret Buedel.
The family would like to thank the employees of Baker's Rest Haven for their loving care of Anna Belle. Services were held Wednesday, April 23 at 1 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel in Evansville with Rev. Simon Leon officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery
in Evansville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, in downtown Evansville.
Evansville resident Lorene (Riney) Market died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002 at Regina Continuing Care.
She is survived by a daughter, Sister Doris Market of Grand Terrace, Calif.; five sons, Kenneth Market of Bristow, Richard Market of Marion, Ky., Jim Market of Boonville, Paul Market of Chandler, and David Market of Evansville; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 2 at Boone Funeral Home and continued at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with burial in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
