Orville Cleon Davis

HUGOTON - Orville Cleon Davis, 78, of Hugoton, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at Satanta District Hospital.

He was born Aug. 20, 1922, at Johnsville, Texas, the son of John H. and Delora Ann (Cox) Davis.

On May 18, 1950, he married Lila Eldyss Karr at Augusta. They moved from Arkansas City to Hugoton in 1981. She died Aug. 1, 1988. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Davis was an accountant for many years, and was a member of the Christian Church of Hugoton and the Public Accountants Association of Kansas. He had been a resident of the Satanta Long Term Care Unit since October 2000.

Survivors include two sisters and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton, with the Rev. Larry Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday at the funeral home. Memorials to the donor's choice may be sent in care of the funeral home, Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.

Russell H. Ray

TRIBUNE - Funeral for Russell H. Ray, 74, was to be 2 p.m. today at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church, Sun City, Ariz.

A second service is planned for 2 p.m. MDT Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, Tribune, with the Rev. Michael Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune.

Mr. Ray died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in Sun City.

He was born Nov. 5, 1926, at Delavan, the son of Boggess Ford and Leta (Hopper) Ray. He graduated from Kansas State College.

Mr. Ray was the former owner and operator of Ray Oil Co., Tribune. After retiring in 1993, he moved from Tribune to Sun City. He was a member of Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church, Stephen Ministries and Gideons International and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

On Nov. 15, 1953, he married Selma Carlson at Tribune. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Forrest Ray, Twin Falls, Idaho; two daughters, Doris Ray, Wichita, and Joyce Huddleston, Tribune; a brother, Merrill Ray; and two grandchildren.

Visitation hours at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Tribune, are from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and until service time Friday. Memorials are suggested to Gideons International or the donor's choice, both in care of the funeral home.

Helen L. Hawk

TRIBUNE - Memorial service for Helen L. Hawk, 75, will be 10:30 a.m. MDT Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Tribune, with Steve Schneider officiating. Private family scattering will take place later.

Mrs. Hawk died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at her home in Tribune.

She was born Jan. 30, 1926, at Wheatfield, Ind., the daughter of George Jacob and Nettie Jane (May) Hoehn.

A Tribune resident since May 1999, moving from Wabash, Ind., she was a bookkeeper and homemaker. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary at Wabash.

On July 17, 1945, she married Gilbert Sherman Hawk at Lafayette, Ind. He died May 15, 1965, in Indiana. She was also preceded in death by a sister.

She is survived by three sons, Roger Hawk, Hutchinson, Richard Hawk, Savannah, Ga., and John Hawk, Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Nancy Fite, Wabash, Kathy Schneider, Tribune, and B.J. Hawk, Fort Collins, Colo.; three brothers, George Hoehn Jr., San Pierre, Ind., John F. Hoehn, South Bend, Ind., and R. William Hoehn, Laramie, Wyo.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to Greeley County Hospital or the Meals on Wheels Program in Greeley County, both in care of the funeral home.

Freda A. Fitzgerald

SCOTT CITY - Graveside service for Freda A. Fitzgerald, 96, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, with the Rev. John Warring officiating.

Mrs. Fitzgerald died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.

She was born Aug. 17, 1904, in a sod house in Healy, the daughter of John and Cora (Magie) Phillips.

A lifetime resident of Healy and Scott City, she was a traveling salesperson for various jewelry companies until her retirement. She was a member of First Christian Church and a former member of Rebekah Lodge.

In September 1926, she married Ralph Siegrist at Dighton. He died in 1960 at Scott City. She married Ray C. Fitzgerald in 1940 at Pueblo, Colo. He died in 1975 at Scott City. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mabel Phillips and Adalene Burgess; a daughter, Donna Hardstry-Rose; and a great-grandson.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Siegrist, Scott City; a daughter, Wanda Kindhart, Hutchinson; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation hours are until 6 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Memorials to the Freda A. Fitzgerald Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Suzette Marie Hardaway

SATANTA - Funeral for Suzette Marie Hardaway, 35, of Satanta, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Satanta, with the Rev. Ray Tweed officiating. Inurnment will take place later.

Mrs. Hardaway died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Satanta District Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Born Dec. 28, 1965, at McMinnville, Ore., she was the daughter of Ronald Deane Hardaway and Diane Marie (Norton) Van Etten.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, enjoyed going to her daughter's ball games and going shopping with her daughter and other family activities. Her hobbies were collecting thimbles, working with plastic canvas, reading, and watching wrestling on television.

Survivors include her daughter, Amanda Hardaway, Satanta; her father, Satanta; her stepfather, Randy Van Etten, Copeland; her grandmothers, Ruby Norton, Newberg, Ore., and Euvonne Rounds, Dayton, Ore.; a brother, Daren Hardaway, Beaverton, Ore.; three sisters, Ronda DeWitt, Gaston, S.C., Tonya Matthews, Satanta, and Jennifer Russom, Sublette; and six nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother; and her grandfather, Elmer Norton.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Memorials for the family may be left at the Shopping Stop True Value in Satanta or mailed to the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

Aletha M. Harcharik

SCOTT CITY - Vigil prayer service for Aletha M. Harcharik, 67, will be 7 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City, with the Rev. David Kraus officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Mrs. Harcharik died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.

She was born March 22, 1933, at Scott City, the daughter of Floyd L. and Pearl (Kuder) Stanton.

A lifetime resident of Scott City, she worked as a telephone operator for several years and then as a secretary for KN Energy until retiring in 1995.

Mrs. Harcharik was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society and the VIP Center and a charter member of Club 100, all at Scott City.

On Dec. 5, 1952, she married George E. Harcharik at Scott City. He survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Sheila von Leonrod, Dighton, and Shauna Drohman, Garden City; a brother, Floyd A. Stanton, Alamo, Texas; a sister, Nancy Nottingham, Colby; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation hours are until 7 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or the VFW Auxiliary, both in care of the funeral home.

Mabel Mae Ritzman

Funeral for Mabel Mae Ritzman, 89, of Norman, Okla., will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, Norman. Burial will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg.

Mrs. Ritzman died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001.

She was born July 9, 1911, at Arma, the daughter of Hattie Windford Flaharty and Ralph Charlton Wilson.

She received her bachelor's degree in 1931 from Pittsburg State University and continued her education at the University of Iowa where she received a master's degree in speech therapy. She taught speech and drama at Norman High School for 18 years, retiring in 1978.

Mrs. Ritzman was a member of First Christian Church in Norman where she served as deacon, elder and president of the congregation. She served as the first president of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Norman, president and director of acquisitions for the Cleveland County Genealogy Society, president of the League of Women Voters, and vice president of Retired Teachers of Cleveland County.

She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of Eastern Star and the University of Oklahoma Women's Association, and an honorary member of Altrusa Inc. of Norman.

She married Carl Harry Ritzman on July 3, 1940. He died in 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Ralph Wilson in 1969.

Survivors include a sister, Hattie Fry, Garden City; a niece; a nephew; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the Cleveland County Genealogy Library, First Christian Church, Oklahoma Medical Research or Alzheimer's Research, all in care of Vondel L. Smith & Sons Mortuary, 13125 N. MacArthur St., Oklahoma City, OK 73142.
