Evelyn Mary Colglazier 1925-2000
ROZEL - Evelyn Mary Colglazier, 75, died Aug. 28 at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born May 26, 1925, at Belpre, the daughter of Louis A. and Loretta
B. Herman Giessel. She married Robert DeRoo. He died Aug. 22, 1954. She
then married Gail Arthur Colglazier April 28, 1956. He died Jan. 17, 2000.
A lifetime resident of Pawnee County, she was a homemaker and farmwife.
Mrs. Colglazier was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned and
Holy Rosary Church in Burdett.
Survivors include three sons, Daniel R. Colglazier, Joe L. Colglazier and
Ray Colglazier, all of Rozel; two daughters, Betty Ackerman of Offerle and
Fay Murphy of Garfield; and 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
one son, John A. Colglazier; four brothers, Alfred Giessel, John Giessel,
Paul Giessel and Leo Giessel; one sister, Genevieve; and one granddaughter.
Vigil service will be at 7 tonight at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Larned. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev.
Bob Schremmer officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may
call until 8 tonight at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned. Memorials are
suggested to Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund or American Cancer Society,
both in care of the funeral home.

Myrtia Muriel Wells 1912-2000
LARNED - Myrtia Muriel Wells, 87, died Aug. 28 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Joseph Campus in Larned. She was born Nov. 24, 1912, in Pawnee
County, the daughter of George and Myrtia Wilson King. She married Dallas
Wells Oct. 2, 1930, at La Crosse. He died Sept. 27, 1983. A lifetime
resident of Pawnee County, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Wells was a member of Rozel United Methodist Church, Church Circle and
a 4-H club leader, all in Rozel. She was also a member of the Rozel and
Larned EHU and Pawnee County Farm Bureau Women.
Survivors include one son, George Wells of Germantown, Tenn.; one daughter,
Frances Woelk of Rozel; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Dallas; two brothers, George
King and Otha King; and one sister, Joy Gibson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned with
the Rev. Rob Schmutz officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 tonight, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and
from 9 a.m. until service time Friday, all at the mortuary. Memorials are
suggested to the church, in care of the mortuary.

Joe Savas Carrillo 1941-2000
LIBERAL - Joe Savas Carrillo, 58, died Aug. 27 at Wichita. He was born
Sept. 1, 1941, at Green River, Wyo., the son of Savas and Rose Graham
Carrillo. He married Sara Lutters Dec. 18, 1976, at Great Bend. A resident
of Liberal since 1989, he was a truck driver for Baroid Drilling Fluids.
Carrillo was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Liberal.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Joseph Carrillo Jr. of
Lawrence and Benjamin Carrillo of Liberal; one daughter, Kathy Patterson of
Panama City, Fla; one sister, Josephine Perez of Rock Springs, Wyo.; and
two grandchildren.
Parish vigil will be at 7 tonight at St. Aloysius Church in Ransom with the
Rev. Gregory LeBlanc officiating. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday
at St. Aloysius Church with the Rev. Henry Hildenbrandt officiating. Burial
will be at Ransom Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 tonight, after the
vigil service, and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday, all at the
church in Ransom. Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony's Church of
Liberal, in care of the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are being
handled by Fitzgerald Funeral Home of Ness City.

Otto L. Huslig 1913-2000
ODIN - Otto L. Huslig, 87, died Aug. 27 at Via Christi Regional Medical
Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born July 5, 1913, at Odin,
the son of Joseph and Mary Fonscher Huslig. He married Mary E.
Schlochtermeier May 16, 1938, at St. Peter and Paul Church in Ellinwood. A
lifetime resident of the Odin area, he was a farmer and stockman.
Huslig was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus in
Odin, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and Odin Saddle Club.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four daughters, Rose Meyeres, Kathy
Mai, and Janice Klepper, all of Great Bend and Rita Goscha of McPherson; 10
grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one
stepgreat-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, Bill Huslig;
four brothers, Leo Huslig, Joe Huslig, Dominic Huslig and Hugo Huslig; and
seven sisters, Ann Sutton, Mary Kinzel, Rose Huslig, Albina Huslig,
Henrietta Huslig, Olivia Boor and Bernadette Eisenbart.
Wake service will be at 7 tonight followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary,
all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Funeral will be at 10
a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Revs. Pascal Klein and Colin Boor
officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery in Odin. Friends may
call until 9 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Kansas
State University Basic Cancer Research or the church cemetery fund, both in
care of the funeral home.

Jasmine Marie Chism 1999-2000
LARNED - Jasmine Marie Chism, 18 months, died Aug. 25 at HCA Wesley Medical
Center in Wichita. She was born Jan. 30, 1999, at Wichita, the daughter of
Jessica Marie Chism. She was a resident of Larned.
Survivors include her mother of the home; maternal grandmother, Marilyn
Parker-Chism of Larned; maternal great-grandparents, Ray and Stella Parker
of Garfield; and maternal great-great-grandmother, Lenora Hogsett of Larned.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned with
the Rev. Rudy Cerullo officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time
Wednesday, all at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Jasmine Marie
Chism Memorial Fund, in care of the mortuary.

Katherine B. Schneider 1904-2000
HOISINGTON - Katherine B. Schneider, 96, died Aug. 28 at Hoisington
Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 11, 1904, at Russell, the daughter
of George Peter and Magdelena Boxberger Nuss. She married Harold Schneider
Nov. 30, 1922, at Milberger. He died May 18, 1977. A lifetime resident of
Russell and Barton counties, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Schneider was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A., Senior
Citizens, Church Quilting Club and Meals on Wheels, all of Hoisington. She
also served as a pink lady for Hoisington Lutheran Hospital for many years.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
six brothers, Jacob Nuss, Pete Nuss, Henry Nuss, Ben Nuss, David Nuss and
Emanuel Nuss; and three sisters, Mollie Stenzel, Lena Lust and Leah
Morgenstern.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Kelly
Taylor Schaus officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington Cemetery. Friends
may call from 4-9 tonight, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, all at
Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington, and from 9 a.m. until service
time Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church or Clara
Barton Foundation, both in care of the funeral home.

Muriel M. Wells 1912-2000
LARNED - Muriel M. Wells, 87, died Aug. 28 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Joseph Campus in Larned. Survivors and funeral arrangements
will be announced by Beckwith Mortuary in Larned.

Ruby Walter 1907-2000
Ruby Walter, 92, died Aug. 28 at her home in Great Bend. Survivors and
funeral arrangements will be announced by Fryberger Mortuary in Great Bend.

Leslie C. Schrepel 1931-2000
ELLINWOOD - Leslie C. Schrepel, 69, died Aug. 28 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. Survivors and funeral arrangements
will be announced by Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend.

Jasmine Marie Chism 1999-2000
LARNED - Jasmine Marie Chism, 18 months, died Aug. 25 at HCA Wesley Medical
Center in Wichita. Survivors and funeral arrangements will be announced by
Beckwith Mortuary in Larned.

Otto Huslig 1913-2000
ODIN - Otto Huslig, 87, died Aug. 27 at Via Christi Regional Medical
Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita. Survivors and funeral arrangements
will be announced by Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington.

Milton I. Ward 1942-2000
Milton I. Ward, 58, died Aug. 23 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose
Campus in Great Bend. He was born March 30, 1942, at Great Bend, the son of
Floyd C. and Ruth L. Weathers Ward. A longtime resident of Great Bend, he
was a truck driver in the oil field industry.
Ward was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include two sons, Jason Ward of Dodge City and Roger Ward of
Kansas City; his mother of Great Bend; two brothers, Ronald Ward and Marvin
Ward, both of Great Bend; three sisters, Carol Ives of Ringwood, Okla.,
Glennis Nester of Oklahoma, and Linda McCowan of Hutchinson; and one
granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Great Bend Family Mortuary with the
Rev. Jana Baxter officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in
Great Bend. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service
time Tuesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to American
Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.

Billy Joe Shuler 1921-2000
SYLVIA - Billy Joe Shuler, 78, died Aug. 24 at Hutchinson Hospital. He was
born Dec. 24, 1921, at Blanchard, Okla., the son of James A. and Mary Alice
Gamble Shuler. He married Frieda McNickle April 23, 1946, at Fort Hood,
Texas. A longtime resident of Sylvia, he was a farmer, painter and a
correctional officer for Kansas State Reformatory until his retirement in
1984.
Shuler was a member of Zenith Community Church, Stafford County Bowling
Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion of Stafford. He
was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the South Pacific during World
War II.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one brother, Jim "Bud" Shuler of
Kingman; two sisters, Almeta Murray of Sedalia, Mo., and Mary Joan "Jodie"
Baldwin of McKinney, Texas; two half sisters, Sharon Storm and Judy
Winderlin, both of Scott City; his stepfather, Vernon Savely of Hermiston,
Ore.; and his stepmother, June Shuler of Scott City. He was preceded in
death by one half brother, Lance Kay Shuler.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Leroy
Griswold officiating. Burial will be at Stafford Cemetery. Friends may call
from 4-8 tonight at Minnis Chapel in Stafford. Memorials are suggested to
the church or American Cancer Society, both in care of the chapel.
