Eva Lee Briscoe 1910-2000
Eva Lee Briscoe, 89, died Nov. 6 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose
Campus in Great Bend, She was born Dec. 13, 1910, in Pratt, the daughter of
Henry and Jesse Cable Blanton. She married Amzie Briscoe July 21, 1934, in
Great Bend. He died April 22, 1985. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she
was a housewife.
Mrs. Briscoe was a member of Myers Chapel AME and T.O.P.S., both of Great
Bend.
Survivors include two sisters, Mae DuPree of Wichita and Bessie M. Bibbs of
Aurora, Colo. She was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Blanton; and
one sister, Cecil Young.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bryant-Christians Chapel in Great Bend
with the Rev. Loyse Clay officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend
Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1-9
p.m. Sunday, both at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the
church, in care of the funeral home.

Elton Gene Miller 1920-2000
Elton Gene Miller, 80, died Nov. 8 at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born
Sept. 24, 1920, in Brownswood, Texas, the son of Jake and Iris McCurdy
Miller. He married Margaret M. Kirkman Aug. 3, 1973, in Great Bend. A
resident of Great Bend for 40 years coming from Wichita, he was an
oil-field supply salesman.
Miller was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, American Legion,
Veterans of Foreign Wars and Elks Lodge. He was a U.S. Marine and served in
World War II.
Survivors include his wife of the home; and two sisters, Madge Ryder of
Tulsa, Okla., and Helen Heck of Albuquerque, N.M.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev.
Warren Stecklein officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday, both
at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick School
Endowment fund, in care of the funeral home.

Gary P. Sokola 1941-2000
DODGE CITY - Gary P. Sokola, 59, died Nov. 8 at Via Christi Regional
Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. Survivors and funeral
arrangements will be announced by Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore.

Lloyd Marvin Clason 1915-2000
SEDGWICK - Lloyd Marvin Clason, 85, died Nov. 8 at Halstead Hospital. He
was born Feb. 20, 1915, in Lamar, Colo., the son of Will A. and Dollie C.
Burton Clason. He married Stella Mae Mann July 28, 1934, in Osceola, Mo.
She died Nov. 24, 1977. A resident of Sedgwick coming from Halstead and
Pawnee Rock, he was a retired mechanic and welder. He was a former city
councilman and police judge in Pawnee Rock.
Clason was a member of Sedgwick Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Elsie May Baxter of Sedgwick, Joyce Ann
Smiley of Emporia and Laurel Glee Herrington of Olathe; 11 grandchildren;
26 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by one daughter, Dollie Lenora Clason; four brothers, Ralph Hudson
Clason, Walter Adelbert Clason, Wilbur Burton Clason and Willis Vincent
Clason; two sisters, Sarah Evalena Molyneux and Elsie Mae Morton.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Richard
Simmons officiating. Burial will be at Halstead Cemetery. Friends may call
from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead. Memorials are
suggested to the Hertzler Research Foundation, in care of the funeral home.

Winifred 'Winnie' Weathers 1930-2000
SALINA - Winifred "Winnie" Weathers, 70, died Nov. 8 at her home in Salina.
She was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Mena, Ark. She married Winton K. "Stormy"
Weathers. He died in 1988. A resident of Salina, she was a machine
operator at Tony's Pizza Service in Salina.
Survivors include one son, Gary Weathers of Salina; three daughters, Jean
Weathers-Platz of Topeka, Laura Weathers of Salina and Mary Edith
Schlarbaum of Chehalis, Wash.; two brothers, Joe Watson and George Watson,
both of Mena; one sister, Marie Trest of Shreveport, La.; and five
grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary with the Rev. Katherine
Pitts officiating. Private family graveside services will be at Gypsum Hill
Cemetery in Salina. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. and the family will
receive friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m., both Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials
are suggested to American Lung Association, in care of the funeral home.

Joshua James Warner 1983-2000
HOLYROOD - Joshua James Warner, 17, died Nov. 8 at Via Christi Regional
Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born Feb. 4, 1983, at
Great Bend, the son of Gene and Cheryl Barta Warner. A lifetime resident of
Holyrood, he was a Quivira Heights High School student.
Warner was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Holyrood.
Survivors include his parents of the home; grandparents, Bill and Ladona
Griffis of Lyons, Gene and JoAnne Warner and Kenneth and Mary Barta, all of
Holyrood; and great-grandmother, Lola Shuttleworth of Geneseo.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Parsons Funeral Home in
Ellsworth. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard's Catholic
Church in Ellsworth with the Rev. Daniel Scheetz officiating. Burial will
be at St. Paul's United Church of Christ cemetery in Holyrood. Friends may
call from 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to
the Joshua J. Warner Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Christopher 'Chris' Scott Earegood 1966-2000

LARNED - Christopher "Chris" Scott Earegood, 34, died Nov. 8 at Western
Plains Regional Hospital in Dodge City from injuries sustained in an
automobile accident. He was born Feb. 5, 1966, in Larned, the son of David
Wayne and Frances Vieyra Earegood. A lifetime Larned resident, he was a
licensed practical nurse and was in the Dodge City Community College
nursing program.
Earegood was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned. He was a
U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Alan Stapleton Earegood of Larned; his
father of Camdenton, Mo.; his mother of Larned; two sisters, Elizabeth
Earegood and Erin Earegood, both of Larned; and grandparents, Martha
Earegood of Larned, Edmond Earegood of Great Bend and Basilia Vieyra of
Hutchinson.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in
Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church with the
Rev. James Roth officiating. Burial will be at Larned cemetery with
military honors. Friends may call until 8 tonight, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday at the chapel.

Rhonda Mable Oller 1897-2000
Rhonda Mable Oller, 102, died Nov. 7 at Integrated Health Services in Great
Bend. She was born Dec. 6, 1897, in Latham, the daughter of John W. and
Katie Stucky Parr. She married Walter W. Oller Dec. 21, 1916, in Wichita.
He died Sept. 11. 1967. She was a clerk in Dillion's bakery in Pratt. She
retired in 1966.
Mrs. Oller was a member of First Assembly of God in Pratt.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Hoeme of Pratt; 11 grandchildren; 32
great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by one son, Kenneth Oller; four daughters, Helen Wood, Dorothy
Greenstreet, Roberta Chester and Ruby Davis; and two granddaughters.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God in Pratt with
the Rev. Rick Burwick officiating. Burial will be at Shelman cemetery in
Cunningham. Friends may call until 9 p.m. tonight, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday, both at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home, and from 11 a.m. to service
time Saturday, at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church, in
care of the funeral home.

Elton G. Miller. 80, died Nov. 8, 2000 at Hutchinson Hospital. Survivors
and funeral arrangements will be announced by Bryant-Christians Funeral
Home in Great Bend.

Marjorie A. Schmitt 1932-2000
BELOIT - Marjorie A. Schmitt, 68, died Nov. 8 at Salina Regional Health
Center, Sante Fe. Campus. She was born Oct. 12, 1932, in Beloit, the
daughter of Frank and Eulalia Magette. A life long resident of Beloit, she
was a homemaker. She married Donald Schmitt. He died in 1992.
Mrs. Schmitt was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Ladies
Guild, Catholic Daughters of the America, Poinsettia and Beloit Women's
Golf Association.
Survivors include two sons, Carmen Schmitt of Great Bend and Dale Schmitt
of Beloit; three daughters, Beverly Porter of Glen Elder, Marilyn Timbers
of Tipton and Patricia 'Pat' Huffman of Beloit; three brothers, Louis
Magette of Tipton, Larry Magette of Topeka and Stephen Magette of Claflin;
one sister, Jan McGranahan of Rosville; and 14 grandchildren.
Parish rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Henry Baxa
officiating, followed by the Catholic Daughters of American Rosary, both
at St. John's Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at
the church. Burial will be at St. John's cemetery in Beloit. Friends may
call until 8 tonight, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and after 5:30 p.m.
Friday, all at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. John's Memorial
Trust Fund or Solomon Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral home.

Clara Geneva Schugart 1915-2000
Clara Geneva Schugart, 85, died Nov. 5 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St.
Rose Campus in Great Bend. She was born March 25, 1915, in Olmitz, the
daughter of Clarence E. and Margaret Murdy Boyle. She married Alvin Schugart
Dec. 11, 1938, in Olmitz. He died July 19, 1983. A resident of Great Bend
since 1947, coming from Mobile, Ala., she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Schugart was a member of Central Baptist Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Merkle of Bothell, Wash.; and two
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Karst and
Myrtle Cook.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church in Great Bend
with the Rev. Dr. Gordon E. Rhodes officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend
Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday
and 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested
to the church, in care of the funeral home.
