Anna Lucy Heinz 1913-2000ELLINWOOD - Anna Lucy Heinz, 86,
died Nov. 8 at Ellinwood District Hospital following a long illness. She was
born Nov. 19, 1913, in rural Ellinwood, the daughter of Jacob and Josephine
Bieberle Heinz. A lifetime resident of Barton County, she had farming and
cattle interests.
Miss Heinz was a member Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Claflin.
Survivors include one sister, Lucy Anna Heinz of Ellinwood. She was preceded
in death by two brothers, Leo Heinz and Jacob Heinz.
Altar Society rosary will be at 3 p.m. Thursday and parish wake service will
be at 7 p.m. Thursday, both at Kimple Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 10:30
a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. David Flagor officiating. Burial
will be at Saints Peter and Paul cemetery north of Ellinwood. Friends may
call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested
to Ellinwood Hospital Auxiliary.

Rhoda Mable Oller 1897-2000
Rhonda Mable Oller, 102, died Nov. 7 at Integrated Health Services in Great
Bend. Survivors and arrangements will be announced by Bryant-Christians
Funeral Home in Great Bend.

Dan Wesley Clements 1931-2000
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. - Dan Wesley Clements, 69, died Nov. 5 at his home in
North Platte. He was born April 18, 1931, in Hays, the son of Noiland Roscoe
and Maggie Ella Fleming Clements. He married Rowetta M. Sparr in Aug. 1954,
in Hays. He married Glenda L. Houchin in June 1970. She died. A resident of
North Platte, coming from Ainsworth, he was a finish carpenter. He also
worked in the oil fields as a truck driver and roughneck.
Clements was on the board of directors of the North Platte Senior Center. He
served in the U.S. Marines from 1951-1953 and was in the reserves until
1959.
Survivors include nine daughters, Rhonda Boese, Barbara Espinosa, Beverly
Shuey, all of Great Bend, Rita Clements of Lyons, Mary Gamble of Sylvia,
Linda Gibson of Sutherland, Neb., and Terri Friedrich, Kim Heinis and
Danella Clements, all of North Platte; one son, William OBill? Clements of
Great Bend; 31 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by an infant sister, Ruby Clements; and two brothers,
Niland S. Clements and Cleo F. Clements.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Odean Colonial Chapel at C and
Sycamore in North Platte with the Rev. Ron Lauber officiating. Burial will
be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Plainville Cemetery. Friends may call before
service time on Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the Great Plains
Hospice, in care the funeral home.

Stella A. Schlehuber 1905-2000
Stella A. Schlehuber, 95, died Nov. 7.
Survivors include one son, Bryan Schlehuber of Cement, Okla.; three
daughters, Gloria Saling of Great Bend, Iris Dawn Durham of Lake Hills,
Texas and Donna Jenkins of Hays; one brother, Robert Bilyeu of Dexter; one
sister, Lela Stanford of Garden City; 11 grandchildren; several
great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at White Chapel Memorial
Gardens in Wichita. Old Mission Mortuary in Wichita is in charge of funeral
arrangements.

Scott Alan Nichols Mark 1961-2000
NICKERSON - Scott Alan Nichols Mark, 39, died Nov. 6 at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1961, in Hutchinson, the son of John and Edna Elliott
Keeler. A resident of Nickerson since 1987, coming from Hutchinson, he was a
surgery technician for Central Kansas Medical Center.
Mark served in the U.S. Army and was a first class seaman in the Navy.
Survivors include his parents; and two sisters, Kim Scantlin of
Fayetteville, Ark., and Heather Lassman of Wichita.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bryant-Christians Chapel in Great Bend
with the Rev. Warren Stecklein officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday
at Memorial Park cemetery in Hutchinson. Friends may call from 5-9 today, 9
a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. until service time Friday, all at the
funeral home. Memorials are suggested to American Red Cross or American
Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.

Eva Lee Briscoe 1910-2000
Eva Lee Briscoe, 89, died Nov. 6 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose
Campus in Great Bend. She was born Dec. 13, 1910. Arrangements are pending
with Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend.

Paul E. Damm 1920-2000
Paul E. Damm, 80, died Nov. 6 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose
Campus in Great Bend. He was born Jan. 22, 1920, the son of the late Harry
Damm and Charles and Katherine Hall. He married Eileen M. Dreiling May 3,
1947, in the Great Bend. She died Dec. 24, 1984. A lifetime resident of
Great Bend, he was retired from the Larned State Hospital paint department.
Damm was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, both
of Great Bend. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, having served in
the 77th Artillery.
Survivors include three sons, Larry and Helen Damm of Wichita, Gary and
Robbie Damm of Derby and Jerry Damm of Great Bend; four daughters, Jeanne
and John McDonald of Larned, Aleta and Steve Ehrlich of Great Bend, Jan and
Mike Rousselot of Littleton, Colo. and Rita and Bruce Pinkall of Pratt; one
sister, Loretta Eckert of St. Louis, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and one
great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one sister, Aleta Damm.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday followed by the Knights of
Columbus Rosary at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral
will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great
Bend with the Rev. Marvin Reif officiating. Burial will be at the Great
Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-9 tonight and 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Rose Catholic
Church in Great Bend, in care of the funeral home.

Ben Earl Smith 1910-2000
SEATTLE, Wash. - Ben Earl Smith, 90, died Nov. 4 at Pinehurst Park Terrace
in Seattle. He was born Aug. 17, 1910, at Pawnee Rock, the son of Peter and
Lena Schmidt. He married Lillian Mae Dring Oct. 12, 1931. She died June
1988. A resident of Salina since 1971, he worked as a docking clerk for
Santa Fe Railroad for 32 years and had worked earlier at Armour Creamery in
Great Bend.
Smith was a member of First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign
Wars and Eagles Lodge, all of Salina. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World
War II, serving in the infantry.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Smith of Seattle, Richard Smith of
Hamburg, N.J., and Pete Smith of Loveland, Colo.; five grandchildren; and
five great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ryan Mortuary in Salina with
the Rev. Jack Ropp officiating. Inurnment will be at Pawnee Rock Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Salina Hospice, in
care of the mortuary.

Clara Geneva Schugart 1915-2000
Clara Geneva Schugart, 85, died Nov. 5 at Central Kansas Medical Center,
St. Rose Campus in Great Bend.
Survivors and funeral arrangements will be announced by Bryant-Christians
Funeral Home in Great Bend.

Gerald Keith Kerbs 1934-2000
ESCONDIDO, Calif. - Gerald Keith Kerbs, 66, died Oct. 27 at Scripps Green
Hospital in La Jolla, Calif. He was born May 26, 1934, in Claflin, the son
of R.E. and Elizabeth Kerbs. He married Jane Warner Feb. 2, 1957, at Dodge
City. He was a 1952 graduate of Great Bend High School and a 1957 graduate
of Kansas State University. A resident of Escondido since 1970, coming from
Great Bend and Boulder, Colo., he was western regional sales manager for S
and K Sales Company.
Kerbs was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and played baseball for KSU. He
played minor league baseball in the Ben Johnson Independent League.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Michael Kerbs of
Riverside, Calif., and Timothy Kerbs of Escondido; two daughters, Lisa
Fitzpatrick of Escondido and Laurie Dolan of High Point, N.C.; one brother,
Warren Kerbs of Oviedo, Fla.; two sisters, Alice Hopkins of Overland Park
and Darlene Mathers of Great Bend; nine grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
Prayer service was held Oct. 31 at Church of the Resurrection in Escondido.
Funeral Mass was Nov. 1 at the church with the Rev. Neal Dolan officiating.
Burial was at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to
International Myeloma Foundation, 12650 Riverside Drive, No. 206, North
Hollywood, CA 91607-3421 or the church, 1445 Conway Drive, Escondido, CA
92027. Allen Brothers Mortuary of San Marcos, Calif., was in charge of
arrangements.

Dorothy Maxine Stump 1921-2000
FRIENDSWOOD, Texas - Dorothy Maxine Stump 79, died Oct. 27 at her home in
Friendswood. She was born March 21, 1921, in Pawnee County near Pawnee
Rock, the daughter of John Walter and Esther Alveda Larson Stump. She was a
longtime resident of Friendswood.
Survivors include one sister, Nolene Whiteside of Fort Scott. She was
preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Leonard Stump.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Larned cemetery with the
Rev. Rob Schmutz officiating. Cremation took place in Texas. Friends may
call from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday at the Morell Funeral Home in Larned.
Memorials are suggested to the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, in care of
the funeral home.
