Hildred Robl 1908-2001
ELLINWOOD - Hildred Robl, 93, died June 11 in Las Vegas, Nev. She was born Jan. 22, 1908, north of Ellinwood, the daughter of Mike and Anna Schlochtermeier Robl. She was a 1926 graduate of Ellinwood High School and was a graduate of Hutchinson Business College. She was a resident of Las Vegas for 33 years, coming from Ellinwood, Hutchinson and Wichita. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Las Vegas. Survivors include one brother, the Rev. Eugene Robl of Las Vegas; and one sister, Magdalen Robl of Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Mat Robl and Bernard Robl; and three sisters, Laura Hammeke, Elizabeth Davis and Anita Schartz. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, north of Ellinwood, with the Rev. Eugene Robl officiating. Inurnment will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, north of Ellinwood. There is no visitation, cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Mike Robl Family Seminarian Fund, in care of Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Oct. 16, 2001

Helen L. Boyd 1898-2001
ZOOK - Helen L. Boyd, 103, died Oct. 13 at Moran Manor in Moran. She was born March 13, 1898, in Adams County, Ill., the daughter of Elisha and Dora Marshall Hendrix. She was a 1918 graduate of Belpre High School. She married Arthur Ray Meredith in 1919. He died in 1926. She married Earl Boyd. He died in 1956. A resident of Iola, coming from Larned, Lallarpe and Belpre, she worked at Larned State Hospital in Larned. Mrs. Boyd was a member of the Methodist church and LaHarpe Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include one daughter, Norma Lee Anderson of Iola; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Hurless Meredith; three sisters, Mary Johnson, Irone Hager and Elvessie Hopkins; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Valley cemetery in Zook, with the Rev. Charles Grant officiating. Friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned. No memorials are suggested. Oct. 16, 2001

Elva G. Brinson 1921-2001
CLAFLIN - Elva G. Brinson, 80, died Oct. 14 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. She was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Claflin, the daughter of John D. and Mary J. Markel Riemann. She was a graduate of Claflin High School, Sterling College and Fort Hays State University. She married W. Lendon Brinson Sept. 19, 1941, in Beaver. He died Dec. 9, 1997. A lifelong resident of the rural Claflin area, she was a retired elementary school teacher in rural Barton and Rice counties, Alden and Hoisington. Mrs. Brinson was a member of Church of the Nazarene, Sunday School teacher, church board member and treasurer, American Legion Auxiliary, all of Hoisington, Barton County Retired Teachers Association, AAUW, Barton County Farm Bureau and Cleveland 4-H leader. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Brinson of Claflin and Elaine Brinson of Kansas City; two brothers, Floyd Riemann of Ellsworth and Vernon Riemann of Claflin; two grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Brinson; and one brother, Harold Riemann. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington, with the Revs. Don Fisher and Johnnie Spellman officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington cemetery in Hoisington. Friends may call until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church, Claflin Ambulance Fund or the donor's choice, all in care of the funeral home. Oct. 16, 2001

Dorothy Main 1912-2001
WICHITA - Dorothy Main, 89, died Oct. 14 at Sandpiper Bay Healthcare Center in Wichita. She was born April 25, 1912, in Stafford, the daughter of John and Stella Taylor Fee. She married Delbert W. Main Sept. 3, 1937, in Stafford. He died April 22, 1996. A resident of Wichita since 1990, coming from Stafford and Sublette, she was a teacher and homemaker. Mrs. Main was a member of Central Church of Christ in Wichita. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Hooten of Wichita; and one sister, Christine McCrory of Sterling; and three granddaughters. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Rick Cline officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Stafford cemetery in Stafford. Friends may call from 1-6 p.m. Wednesday at Minnis Chapel in Stafford. Memorials are suggested to Maude Carpenter Children's Center, in care of the funeral chapel. Oct. 16, 2001

Marilyn Kay Kalpin
TUCSON, Ariz. - Marilyn Kay Kalpin, 64, died Oct. 14 at St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson. She was born March 9, 1937, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Chester Ray and Atha Darlene Schmidt Bland. She married Willard L. Norton Oct. 6, 1957, in Lucas. He died Aug. 12, 1981. She married Barry Kalpin Feb. 14, 1987, in Great Bend. A resident of Tucson, coming from Great Bend and Lucas, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Kalpin was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Pilot Club, Chamber of Commerce and past president of League of Women Voters, all of Great Bend, served on board of directors of KADRA and was involved in Campfire Girls and Boys. Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Krista Norton Gates of Denver, Colo., and Marissa Norton Currier of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two stepsons, Michael Kalpin of Mansfield, Texas, and Steven Kalpin of Albuquerque, N.M.; one stepdaughter, Cindy Kalpin Frenchers of Kansas City; her mother of Salina; three brothers, Ronnie Bland of Lucas, Gary Bland of San Diego, Calif., and Richard Bland of Tucson; one sister, Norma Jean Naegele of Lucas; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Janelle Bland. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Jana Baxter officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Gypsum Hill cemetery in Salina. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend. Joe Heinz 1926-2001
KINSLEY - Joe Heinz, 75, died Oct. 13 from injuries sustained in a farming accident at the family farm west of Kinsley. He was born April 17, 1926, in Edwards County, the son of Peter John and Catherine Ann Weikert Heinz. He married Bette N. Sette Feb. 28, 1945, in Kinsley. A lifelong resident of Edwards County, he was a farmer and stockman. Heinz was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Kinsley. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 32nd Division in the South Pacific. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Stephen Heinz of Shawnee and Peter J. Heinz of Offerle; one daughter, Valerie Kasselman of Salina; two brothers, Milton Heinz of Dodge City and Elmer Heinz of Seal Beach, Calif.; and six grandchildren. Vigil service will be at 7 tonight at the church. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Marvin W. Reif officiating. Burial will be at St. Nicholas cemetery in Kinsley, with full military graveside rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7349 in Kinsley. There is no public visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. Nicholas School Endowment Fund, Tired Iron Club, North Edwards County cemetery District or All Veterans Memorial in Kinsley, all in care of Burkhart Funeral Chapel in Dodge City. Hedwig 'Hedy' Stegman 1930-2001
BELPRE - Hedwig "Hedy" Stegman, 71, died Oct. 12 at her residence in Belpre. She was born Jan. 1, 1930, at Ness City, the daughter of William and Barbara Braun Deiser. She married Elmer A. Stegman Feb. 12, 1955, at Ness City. A longtime resident of Belpre, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Stegman was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Belpre. Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Mike Stegman of Newton and George Stegman of Larned; three daughters, Mary Ann Perez and Janet Stegman, both of Belpre, and Sheila Stegman of Newton; one brother, Alban Deiser of La Crosse; three sisters, Ida Dixon of Hartford, Ala., Barbara McDonald of Brownell and Lee Kinney of Moline, Ill.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Stegman; two brothers, William "Bill" Deiser and Eugene Deiser; and two sisters, Hilda Deiser and Mary Deiser. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Dennis Reed officiating. Burial will be at Belpre Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or for Masses, in care of the funeral home. Oct. 14, 2001

Priscilla Ann Orth 1947-2001
PEABODY - Priscilla Ann Orth, 54, died Oct. 11 at St. Lukes Hospital in Marion. She was born Feb. 2, 1947, at Great Lakes Naval Station in Great Lakes, Ill., the daughter of Harold P. and Helen L. Downey Orth. She attended Dodge City Senior High, St. Mary's of the Plains, Dodge City Community College, Fort Hays State and Wichita State University. Survivors include three brothers, her twin, Dennis M. Orth of Fort Worth, Texas, Harold L. Orth of Great Bend and Stan Orth of Austin, Texas. Memorial service was Oct. 13 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Great Bend. Watson Funeral Home of Wichita was in charge of funeral arrangements. Oct. 14, 2001

Mildred Marie McMillin Poe 1931-2001
CHENEY - Mildred Marie McMillin Poe, 70, died Oct. 12 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born June 18, 1931, in Great Bend, the daughter of Horace Frank and Florence Pearl Marsh McMillin. She married Robert A. Poe June 10, 1951, in Great Bend. He died June 27, 2001. A resident of Cheney, she was a housewife. Mrs. Poe was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Cheney. Survivors include one son, Terry Poe of Burwell, Neb.; two daughters, Linda Poe of Garden Plain and Roberta Allene Morgan of Cheney; three brothers, Joe McMillin of Dilia, Frank McMillin of Cedar Park, Texas, and Danny McMillin of Hays; three sisters, Judy Sheare of Almena, Connie Strong of Coppell, Texas, and Patty Tonblinson of Versailles, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the church with the Revs. Howard Ray and Eugene Nicholson officiating. Burial will be at Pioneer cemetery in Cheney. Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. today and from 9-11 a.m. on Mondayat Lanterman Funeral Home of Cheney. Memorials are suggested to the church or Hospice Inc., both in care of the funeral home. Edith B. Galliart 1918-2001
Edith B. Galliart, 82, of Great Bend died Oct. 12 at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson. She was born Nov. 14, 1918, at Great Bend, the daughter of Henry and Leah Miller Krome. She married William Carl Galliart Nov. 26, 1955, at Great Bend. He died April 1, 1987. A resident of Galatia most of her life, she was retired from Fuller Brush, working on the shipping line. Mrs. Galliart was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Great Bend. Survivors include two sons, Joe Messersmith and Gary Lee Galliart, both of Great Bend; one brother, Clifford Krome; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Theresa Ritchie. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Julius C. Ellis officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Vinita McGinty Davis Ehrlich 1920-2001
Vinita McGinty Davis Ehrlich, 80, of Great Bend died Oct. 13 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. She was born Dec. 31, 1920, at Seward, the daughter of Charles C. and Ethel Tucker McGinty. She married Claudius Davis March 2, 1935. He died May 1939. She married Benjamin Ehrlich on Feb. 10, 1955, in Ellinwood. A resident of Great Bend since 1938, coming from Larned, she was a retired operator for Southwestern Bell. Mrs. Ehrlich was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both of Great Bend, and a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of America. Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Vincent Davis of Great Bend and Benjamin Ehrlich Jr. of Lenexa; one daughter, Carolyn Spanier of Morton, Ill.; two step-sons, Douglas Ehrlich of Houston, Texas, and Bruce Ehrlich of Galatia; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne McGinty, and one sister, Nellie Pratt. Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Byant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Dr. Gary W. Teske officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Darrell D. Atteberry 1930-2001
LARNED - Darrell D. Atteberry, 71, died Oct. 10 at his home in Larned. He was born June 4, 1930, in Pawnee County, the son of Guy M. and Grace Amanda Birks Atteberry. He married Daisy A. Brazda July 1, 1955, in Burdett. A lifelong resident of Pawnee County, he was formerly the executive director of Pawnee County office of the American Soil Conservation Service, and after retirement, a realtor and land appraiser with Clock Real Estate, all of Larned. Atteberry was a member of First United Methodist Church, volunteer fireman, and member and past master of Larned Masonic Lodge 167 AF and AM, all of Larned, Golden Sheaf Chapter 226 OES of Great Bend, past president of KASCOE, and served on numerous city, county and state committees. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Kevin Atteberry of Larned; one daughter, Brenda Johnson of Larned; two brothers, Arlis Atteberry of Larned and Duane Atteberry of Payson, Ariz.; two sisters, Eva Hiett of Englewood, Colo., and Velma Gish of Lyons; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Dale Atteberry; four brothers, Glenn Atteberry, Gerald Atteberry, Earl Atteberry and Clifford Atteberry; and one sister, Marjorie Buck. Prayer service with Masonic and Eastern Star Rites will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Revs. Charles Grant and Ken Walker officiating. Burial with military graveside honors will be at Larned Cemetery. Robert Wayne Mai 1946-2001
RUSSELL - Robert Wayne Mai, 55, died Oct. 9 at his home in Russell. He was born Sept. 11, 1946, in Russell, the son of Edward and Edna Deines Mai. He married Margaret Bender Sept. 7, 1968, in Russell. A resident of Russell, coming from Yuma, Ariz., he worked for the Yuma Proving Grounds in Yuma. Mai was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was given a medical discharge because of chemical agent exposure. Survivors include two sons, Jason Mai and Justin Mai, both of Yuma; one daughter, Jodi Mai of Yuma; his mother of Russell; one brother, Gerald Mai of Russell; and two sisters, Linda Dunekack of Pittsburg and Marilyn Haffner of Shattuck, Okla. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Harlan Kaden officiating. Friends may call until 9 tonight at Pohlman's Mortuary in Russell and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans or Multiple Sclerosis Society, both in care of the mortuary. Oct. 12, 2001
