Wynema D. Williamson 1934-2001
Wynema D. Williamson, 67, of Great Bend, died Oct. 31 at her home. She was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Pittsburg, Okla., the daughter of Alvin W. and Grace Nalley Gardner. She married T. Leonard Williamson Dec. 27, 1954, in McAlester, Okla. A resident of Great Bend for 46 years, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Williamson was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Great Bend where she was a Sunday school teacher. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Terry Lynn Williamson of Hays; one brother, Raymond Nalley of Pauls Valley, Okla.; three grandchildren, Ashlea Schouboe, Abby Williamson and Jacob Williamson; and five step-grandchildren, Michelle Babcock, C.J. Roth, Justin Schultis, Bryce Schouboe and Anna Schouboe. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheila Kay Schouboe. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fryberger Mortuary Chapel in Great Bend, with the Rev. Dr. Doyle Smith officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9-9:30 a.m. Saturday, all at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the church or donor's church, both in care of the mortuary. Nov. 2, 2001

Phillip L. Froetschner 1951-2001
LARNED - Phillip L. Froetschner, 50, died Oct. 31 at his home in Larned. He was born July 23, 1951, in Larned, the son of Everett Glenn and Georganna Bacon Froetschner. He married Vicki Hawk June 16, 1973, in Larned. A lifelong resident of Larned, he was the manager for A.A. Doerr Mercantile in Larned. Froetschner was a member of Larned Chamber of Commerce, Sunflower Diversified Services in Great Bend and past 4-H member. He was a retired veteran of the Kansas National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve. Survivors include two sons, Jerod Froetschner of Northampton, Penn., and Lynn Froetschner of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Lea Ann Froetschner of Larned; his children's mother, Vicki of Great Bend; his mother of Larned; and one sister, Verlayne Warner of Olathe. He was preceded in death by one brother, Morris Froetschner; and one sister, Mary Kay Babb. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned, with Mike Babb officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday, all at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Rosewood Services, in care of the mortuary. Nov. 2, 2001

Ricky Gale Thompson 1962-2001
HOISINGTON - Ricky Gale Thompson, 38, died Oct. 31 in Hoisington. He was born Dec. 8, 1962, in Lamar, Colo., the son of Delmar G. and Theda Turley Thompson. He married Therese Stejskal April 7, 2001, in Great Bend. A resident of Hoisington for three years, coming from Scott City, he worked as a feed yard employee. Thompson was a member of Southern Baptist Church in Scott City. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Tisha Thompson and Tasha Thompson, both of Scott City; two stepsons, Damian Palmberg of Lindsborg and Jonas Grubb of Great Bend; one stepdaughter, Lyndsay Grubb of Ellinwood; his mother of Mountain Park, Okla.; and two brothers, Gary Thompson of Fort Collins, Colo., and Kenneth Thompson of Grand Junction, Colo. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Ricky Thompson Memorial Fund, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Nov. 2, 2001

Dee M. DeMoss Scranton 1928-2001
DENISON, Texas - Dee M. DeMoss Scranton, 73, died Oct. 30 at his home in Denison. He was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Great Bend, the son of Charles O. and Hazel Ballard Scranton. He attended schools in Great Bend and graduated from Missouri Military School. He attended the University of Kansas. He married Bonnie Maples Ebel Dec. 28, 1983, in Tow, Texas. A resident of Denison, he worked in sales of manufactured homes for Kit Manufacturing in McPherson, Chief Industries in Russell and Liberty Homes in Hutchinson. He had also been a realtor with Century 21 in Denison. Scranton was a member of First Christian Church, where he served as deacon, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lions Club, all of Denison, United Way and Meals on Wheels, both of Grayson County, Texas, and Greater Texoma Association of Realtors. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Michael DeMoss Scranton of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Shelley Scranton Trost of Overland Park; one stepson, J. Wade Ebel of Fort Worth; one stepdaughter, Audrey D. Ebel of Denison; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Shauna Scranton; and one brother, Charles O. Scranton Jr. Memorial service was today at the church, with the Revs. Todd Boddy and Ron Pingelton officiating. Burial is under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home in Denison. Memorials are suggested to the church or Lions Club, both in care of the funeral home. Nov. 2, 2001

Victor A. Vsetecka 1932-2001
Victor A. Vsetecka, 69, of Great Bend, died Nov. 1 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Ash Valley, the son of Emil F. and Amelia M. Zaboj Vsetecka. He married Delores Ann Tuzicka Oct. 14, 1954, in Loretto. A resident of Great Bend for 30 years, he was a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant, serving for 20 years. He worked as an electrician for Vic's Electric in Great Bend. Vsetecka was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles and American Legion, all of Great Bend, and the Air Force Sergeant's Association. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, John E. Vsetecka of Great Bend; four brothers, Joseph Vsetecka of Wakeeney, William Vsetecka of Hutchinson, B.F. Vsetecka of Scott City and Leonard Vsetecka of Brunswick, Ga.; and one sister, Helen Suchy of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Emil Vsetecka and Edward Vsetecka. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Community Church in Great Bend, with the Rev. Fred Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. today at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans or American Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral home. Nov. 2, 2001

Agnes Staudinger 1911-2001
WILSON - Agnes Staudinger, 90, died Oct. 30. She was born Jan. 24, 1911, in Russell County, the daughter of Frank J. Sr and Barbara Vopat Zeman. She married Anton Staudinger. He died in July 1971. A resident of Wilson, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Staudinger was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and Daughter of Isabela, both of Wilson. Survivors include two sons, Ray Staudinger of Wilson and Leonard Staudinger of Hoisington; two daughters, Clara Stithem of Salina and Roselle Williams of Vancouver, Wash.; one brother, Frank Zeman Jr of Salina; six sisters, Anna Staudinger of Great Bend, Barbara Hlaus and Alice Homeier, both of Wilson, Mary Gerritzen of Little River, Sister Mary Leo Zeman of Grand Island, Neb. and Josephine Hinnenkamp of Salina; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. Vigil service followed by a Daughters of Isabela Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Foster Mortuary in Wilson. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery in Wilson. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the church or Wilson Nursing Center in Wilson, both in care of the mortuary. Nov. 1, 2001

Marjorie A. Cauthen 1927-2001
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Marjorie A. Cauthen, 73, died Oct. 28 in Albuquerque. She was born Oct. 31, 1927, in Great Bend, the daughter of James Harvey and Laida Helen Lewis McCarty. She married Robert B. Cauthen in Truth or Consequences, N.M. He died in 1977. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, coming from Great Bend, she was a homemaker. Survivors include one son, Robert Bruce of Spring Branch, Texas; three daughters, Suzanne 'Suzie' Gaffney and Constance "Connie" Kelly, both of Albuquerque and Marilyn Cauthen of Lafayette, La.; three sisters, Helen Gleason, Jean O'Rourke and Roberta Witte; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Joseph and Michael. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at French Mortuary in Albuquerque. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday, at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the mortuary. Nov. 1, 2001

Carter Michael Haney 2001-2001
LARNED - Carter Michael Haney, 6 days old, died Oct. 30 at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. He was born Oct. 24 in Great Bend, the son of Michael and Carrie Stude Haney. Survivors include his parents of Larned; one sister, Micaelyn LeeAnn Haney; his grandparents, Larry and Marilyn Stude and Randy and Betty Haney, all of Larned; and his great-grandparents, Melburn and Joyce Stude of Garfield and Dave and Marilyn Warkentine of Larned. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Larned, with the Rev. Charles Grant, Ken Walker and Dan Lundgren officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, all at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned. Memorials are suggested to Ronald McDonald House or the donor's choice, both in care of the mortuary. Nov. 1, 2001

Erma L. Newby 1910-2001
ST. JOHN - Erma L. Newby, 91, died Aug. 28 at Stafford District Hospital in Stafford. She was born April 4, 1910, in Sterling, the daughter of Frank and Leela Harper. She was a 1929 graduate of Sterling High School. She married D.J. Newby April 15, 1933, in Sterling. He died Nov. 10, 1976. A resident of St. John since 1998, coming from Hutchinson and Sterling, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Newby was a member of United Methodist Church in Hutchinson.
Survivors include one son, Dee Jay Newby of St. Charles, Ill.; one daughter, Donita Hedrick of St. John; one brother, Delbert Harper of Sterling; one sister, Twila Proffitt of Alden; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, LeRoy Harper, Verlin Harper and Virgil Harper.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Minnis Chapel in St. John, with the Rev. W. Harlan Rittgers officiating. Burial will be at Sterling Community cemetery in Sterling. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church of St. John or Hutchinson, both in care of the funeral chapel.

Michael L. Miller 1942-2001
WAVERLY, Tenn. - Michael L. Miller, 59, died Aug. 28 at Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly. He was born April 16, 1942, in El Dorado, the son of Cyril and Frances Muth Miller. He married Jean Felts. A resident of Waverly, he was a purchasing agent for Mac Supply.
Miller was a member of the Catholic church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Tana Fitzjarrald of Great Bend and Sherrie Miller of Waverly; his mother; three brothers, Tim Miller of Great Bend, Donnie Miller of Hutchinson and Roch Miller of Ellinwood; one sister, Monica Bowers of Great Bend; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Miller.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Humphreys County Funeral Home in Waverly, with the Rev. John Sims Baker officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest cemetery in Waverly. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. No memorials are suggested.

Joseph Willard Guesnier 1926-2001
Joseph Willard Guesnier, 74, of Great Bend, died Aug. 28 at his home. He was born Oct. 24, 1926, in Seward, the son of Joseph Alexander and Vina Maria Rickert Guesnier. He married Mary L. McCubbin Sept. 3, 1948, in Topeka. A lifelong resident of Great Bend, he was a truck driver for Haliburton Service Company.
Guesnier was a member of the Catholic church and Veterans of Foriegn Wars Post 3111 of Great Bend. He was a U.S. Navy and Marine Corps veteran of
World War II.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Daniel Guesnier and Shawn Guesnier, both of Great Bend, and Tracy Guesnier of Pawnee Rock;
three daughters, Kaleha Jones of Boise, Idaho, Renee Nelson of Grandview, Wash., and Kelly Guesnier of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, the Rev.
Rene Guesnier of Seward, Matthew Joseph Guesnier of Great Bend and Patrick Guesnier of Littlefield, Texas; one sister, Norma Heinen of Shallowater, Texas; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Guesnier and Robert Dennis Guesnier.
Funeral and inurnment will be at a later date. There is no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Hospice, in care of Great Bend Family Mortuary and Crematory in Great Bend.
