Lloyd 'Punk' Hallett 1936-2002
RUSH CENTER - Lloyd "Punk" Hallett, 66, died March 26 in Rush Center. He was born March 17, 1936, in Rush Center, the son of Ernest G. and Zelma M. Hallett. He married Lilah Bott Oct. 28, 1956, in La Crosse. A lifelong resident of Rush Center, he worked as a telephone lineman for Golden Belt Telephone until he retired in 1996. Hallett was a past member of Bakers Memorial Sportsman Club of La Crosse. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Kristi Miller and her husband, Mike Miller of La Crosse; one brother, Gene Hallett of Great Bend; four sisters, Lois Holopirek of Timken, Dotty Kober of Rush Center, Norma Kelley of Lawrence and Charlotte Peters of La Crosse; and two grandchildren, Callie Miller and Shane Miller, both of La Crosse. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in La Crosse, with the Rev. Marilyn Christmore officiating. Burial will be at La Crosse City Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home. March 28, 2002

Patricia 'Patsi' Joan Hampton 1940-2002
TOPEKA - Patricia "Patsi" Joan Hampton, 61, died March 27 at South Wind Hospice House in Pratt. She was born May 26, 1940, in Mount Vernon, Ill., the daughter of Earl and Lulu Belle Leslie Baucum. She married J.B. Hampton Nov. 23, 1959, in Pratt. He died Dec. 27, 1977. A resident of Topeka for the past eight years, coming from Pratt, she worked as a marketing assistant with Hampton and Hampton Accountants. Mrs. Hampton was a member of Wanamaker Woods Nazarene Church in Topeka and Elks Lodge in Pratt. Survivors include two sons, Heath Hampton of Topeka and Von Hampton of Pratt; two brothers, Douglas Baucum of Mercedes, Texas, and Brooks Baucum of Pratt; seven sisters, Janet Graven and Debbie Broker, both of Pratt, Patti Macovic of Tucson, Ariz., Karen Llano, Tina Tilley and Nancy Kelly, all of Houston, Texas and Leslie Miller of Zenda; and seven grandchildren. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt, with the Revs. Tory Baucum and Todd Baucum officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn cemetery in Pratt. Friends may call until 8 tonight at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to South Wind Hospice, in care of the mortuary.

Raymond L. McKinley 1930-2002
RUSSELL - Raymond L. McKinley, 71, died March 25 at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell. He was born May 3, 1930, in Nevada, Mo., the son of Frank A. and Bertha Rackley McKinley. He married Illa Fern Bushell Aug. 28, 1955, in Natoma. She died April 14, 1965. He married Lou Ann Graham June 4, 1966, in Russell. He graduated from Fort Hays State University with a bachelor's degree. A resident of Russell, he taught school in Russell from 1959 to 1992, when he retired. He also owned and operated his own cattle and farming operation as well as running McKinley Auction Service. McKinley was a member of First Congregational Church, life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, both in Russell and vice chairman of the Russell County Zoning Committee. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Raeleen Reinhardt of Russell; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one infant son; and two sisters, Violet McKinley and Florence Zweifel. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell, with the Revs. Martha Hartman and Glenn Tombaugh officiating. Burial will be at Russell City Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 tonight at Pohlmanıs Mortuary in Russell and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the Methodist church. Memorials are suggested to Ray McKinley Scholarship or Rock Springs Ranch, both in care of the mortuary. March 27, 2002

Edwin J. Bahr 1925-2002
STERLING - Edwin J. Bahr, 76, died March 22. He was born Sept. 26, 1925, near Olmitz, the son of John and Gladys Schreiber Bahr. He married Rosemary Vonfeldt Nov. 21, 1949. A resident of Sterling since 1955, coming from Olmitz, he operated Bahr Dozer Service from 1958 to 1971 and then started and operated Ed's Auto Sales until his retirement in 1990. Bahr was a member of St. Anthonyıs Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks Club, Senior Citizens Club and J and L Daily Coffee/Tea Group, all of Sterling. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, David Bahr and Edwin "Joe" Bahr Jr.; four daughters, Deborah Bahr, Diana Vatole, Linda Lundquist and Lesa Paulison; four brothers, Raymond Bahr of Olmitz, Marvin Bahr of Great Bend, Richard Bahr of Elephant Butte, N.M., and John Bahr of Holiday, Mo.; one sister, Magdalene Walker of Greeley, Colo.; and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Bahr. Funeral was Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery in Sterling, Colo. There are no memorials suggested. March 27, 2002

Russell Straw 1908-2002
Russell Straw, 93, of Great Bend, died March 25 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born Nov. 2, 1908, in Marshall, Mo., the son of Devon and May Stevens Straw. He married Doris Taylor in June, 1962 in Jefferson City, Mo. She died Nov. 6, 1997. A lifelong resident of Barton County, he worked as a custodial laborer. Straw was a member of the Socialite Club. Survivors include four sons, Ricky Taylor of Blandensburg, Md., Harold Stevenson of Tucson, Ariz., Thomas Taylor of Great Bend and Phillip Straw of Russell; one sister, Nadine Houston of Marshall; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Jean Moon; and three brothers, Albert Wright, James Staw and Earl Straw. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fryberger Mortuary Chapel in Great Bend, with the Rev. Loyse Clay officiating. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Nelson cemetery in Nelson, Mo. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Great Bend Emergency Medical Service, in care of the mortuary. March 27, 2002

Lawrence P. Romeiser 1908-2002
BISON - Lawrence P. Romeiser, 94, died March 26 in Bison. He was born March 10, 1908, in rural Bison, the son of William B. and Ernestine Humburg Romeiser. He was a 1926 graduate of Bison High School and a 1932 graduate of Fort Hays State University. He married Pearl Wenger March 6, 1932. She died June 6, 1970. A lifelong resident of Pawnee and Rush counties, he was a farmer. Romeiser was a member of Lions Club, Kansas Farm Bureau, Kansas Association of Wheat Growers, Sixty Plus of La Crosse, Rush Center and Timken and a lifetime Mason, receiving his fifty year pin. Survivors include two sons, Gary Romeiser of Hartford and Kenneth Romeiser of Bison; one daughter, Lana Flowers of Lake Jackson, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ruben Romeiser; and three sisters, Mildred Romeiser, Elsa Luft and Dolores Egleston. Funeral will be at 10:45 a.m. at Bison United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Kathy Bannister and Marilyn Christmore officiating. Burial will be at Lone Star cemetery in Bison. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Thursday at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse. Memorials are suggested to Sixty Plus of La Crosse, in care of the funeral home. March 27, 2002

Dorothy L. Sickelbower 1909-2002
Dorothy L. Sickelbower, 93, of Great Bend, died March 25 at Homestead Assisted Living Residence in Great Bend. She was born Jan. 9, 1909, in Graham County, the daughter of George W. and Stella M. Shamburg Moye. She married Ollie F. Sickelbower June 30, 1925, in Russell. A resident of Great Bend since 1976, coming from Powell, Wyo., she was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband of the home; and many close neighbors and friends. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fryberger Mortuary Chapel in Great Bend, with the Rev. Gary Teske officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend cemetery in Great Bend. Friends may call from 4-8 tonight and from 8-9:45 a.m. Thursday, all at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice, in care of the mortuary. March 27, 2002

Ryan Lyn Moos 1976-2002
Ryan Lyn Moos, 25, of Great Bend, died March 24 at Integrated Health Services of Great Bend in Great Bend. He was born Sept. 3, 1976, in Great Bend, the son of Alan and Susan Cain. A lifelong resident of Great Bend, he worked as a prep cook at Wendy's in Great Bend. Survivors include his parents of Great Bend; two brothers, Tanner Alan Cain and Dylan James Cain, both of Great Bend; and his grandparents; Helen Moos of Great Bend and Larry and Judy Cain of Lyons. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Rev. Mike Joiner officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Extreme Hope Fellowship or Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice, both in care of the funeral home. March 26, 2002

Misao Turley 1942-2002
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Misao Turley, 59, died March 7. She was born July 11, 1942, in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of Masao and Toshiko Sugiura. She married Laverl Turley. A resident of Chattanooga for six years, she worked as a terminal manager for Gotoh Distribution Services. Survivors include her husband of La Crosse; one son, Timothy N. Turley of Rochester, N.Y.; two daughters, Michelle Brazda of Timken and Christinne Turley of Albuquerque, N.M.; her mother of Tokyo; two brothers, Keozo Sugiura and Takashi Sugiura, both of Tokyo; and five grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in La Crosse, with the Rev. Troy Schroeder officiating. There is no visitation and no memorials are suggested. An additional service and burial will be held in April in Tokyo. March 26, 2002

Leslie Pauline Harrison 1919-2002
ST. JOHN - Leslie Pauline Harrison, 83, died March 24 at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson. She was born March 4, 1919, in Pratt County, the daughter of George R. and Avonell Weir. She married William Dotts Harrison May 23, 1942, in Wichita. He died March 23, 1995. A resident of St. John since 1947, coming from Pratt County, she was a homemaker and farmer. Survivors include one son, Robert Harrison of St. John; three daughters, Janet Harrison of Hutchinson, Jean Carter of Hays and Jennifer Harrison of St. John; three sisters, Georgia Gibson of Isabel, Martha Rottering of Cunningham and Shirley Allen of Lyons; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Weir; and one grandson. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Minnis Chapel in St. John with the Rev. Rodney Lyons officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Park cemetery in St. John. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. Memorials are suggested to Fairview Park cemetery or Stafford County Emergency Medical Service, both in care of the funeral chapel. March 26, 2002

Dorothy Marie Acker 1918-2002
DUMAS, Texas - Dorothy Marie Acker, 83, died March 23 in Dumas. She was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Grand Rapids, Mich. She married Robert Acker May 9, 1944, in Hollywood, Fla. A resident of Dumas, coming from Amarillo, Texas, and Otis, she was a homemaker and worked as a secretary at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Dumas. Mrs. Acker was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Senior Citizens and DCWC, all of Dumas. Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Richard Acker of Pensacola, Fla., and Ronald Acker of Prosper, Texas; three daughters, Kathy Litton of Wichita, Linda Tucker of Florence, Ky., and Donleta Frazier of Elkland, Mo.; one brother, Nelson White Jr. of Sun City, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert White; and one sister, Jackie Sella. Funeral was today at the church, with the Rev. Richard Scully officiating. Burial was at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association of the Panhandle or Moore County Senior Center in Dumas, both in care of Morrison Funeral Directors in Dumas. March 26, 2002

Helen Louise Wolf 1912-2002
Helen Louise Wolf, 89, of Great Bend, died March 25 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. She was born April 23, 1912, in Siloam Springs, Benton County, Ark., the daughter of William David and Ethel Barbara Wright Brown. She married Roy Graydon Wolf June 4, 1933, in Jay, Okla. He died Nov. 24, 1963. A resident of Great Bend and Ellinwood for more than 50 years, she was a retired house mother for Wichita State University and John Brown University in Siloam Springs. Mrs. Wolf was a member of United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, both of Ellinwood. Survivors include two sons, William M. Wolf of Great Bend and Henry Wolf of Chester, Ill.; one daughter, Jo Eileen Wolf of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother, Charles Wayne Brown of Wichita; and one sister, Bernice Freeze of Bella Vista, Ark.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin Brown and John Henry Brown. Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Larry Young officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery in Siloam Springs. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, all at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home. March 26, 2002

Bruce R. Coate 1935-2002
WILSON - Bruce R. Coate, 66, died March 25 at Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth. He was born June 16, 1935, in Dodge City, the son of Richard and LaVerne Burnett Coate. He married Sandra L. Shufelberger May 21, 1960, in Montezuma. A resident of Wilson since 1983, coming from Colorado Springs, Colo., Chicago, Ill., and Dodge City, he owned and operated Bruceıs Professional Guide Service, at Lake Wilson. Coate was a member of Evangelical Free Church in Ellsworth. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Brenda Bunton of Ridgland, S.C.; two brothers, Lonnie Coate of Afton, Okla., and Mike Coate of Ensign; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Coate; and one sister, Penny Coate. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Tom Richards officiating. Burial will be at Wilson City cemetery with military graveside honors. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, from 8 a.m. until noon Thursday, both at Foster Mortuary in Wilson and from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday, at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the mortuary. March 26, 2002
