Cammie A. Baldwin 1900-2002
HUTCHINSON - Cammie A. Baldwin, 102, died May 5 at Mennonite Manor in Hutchinson. She was born March 9, 1900, at Clinton, Mo., the daughter of John and Katherine Irene Barbee Justus. She married Norbin Jones Baldwin Sr. Feb. 8, 1919, at Kinsley. He preceded her in death. A resident of Hutchinson for nine years, coming from Great Bend, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of Christian Church of Kinsley, a former RSVP member and a member of the Kitchen Band. Survivors include three sons, Vern W. Baldwin and Kent E. Baldwin, both of Great Bend, and Howard L. Baldwin of Junction City; two daughters, Maxine Wesley of Hutchinson and Doris Boyer of Savannah, Mo.; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and several great-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Norbin J. Baldwin Jr. and Jack D. Baldwin; and one daughter, Phyllis Diest. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Great Bend cemetery with the Rev. Bill Johnson officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until noon Thursday at Fryberger Mortuary in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to Mennonite Friendship Manor, in care of the funeral home. May 7, 2002

Albert J. Birzer 1913-2002
OFFERLE - Albert J. Birzer, 88, died May 6 at Edwards County Hospital in Kinsley. He was born Oct. 20, 1913, at Ellinwood, the son of Joseph and Mathilda Beran Birzer. He married Agnes R. Hoffman April 23, 1941, at Seward. A longtime resident of Offerle, he was a retired farmer. Birzer was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Offerle, charter member of Offerle Lions Club, former member of Offerle Co-op and Trenton Township Boards and former mayor of Offerle. Survivors include his wife of the home; four daughters, Janey Clark of Norman, Okla., Betty Peterson of Hugoton, Rebecca Hornung of Offerle and Ella Haskell of Kinsley; eight sisters, Anna Penka of Great Bend, Clara Bahr of Olmitz, Laura Tinkle of Claflin, Margaret Reichuber of Odin, Eleanor Penka of Healy, Cecilia Denning of Russell, Inez Giessel of Larned and Bertha Achatz of Ellinwood; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Nicanor Ferangco officiating. Burial will be at St. Nicholas cemetery in Kinsley. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday, all at McKillip Memorial Funeral Home in Kinsley. Memorials are suggested to St. Nicholas Endowment Fund, Edwards County Healthcare Foundation or to the church, all in care of the funeral home. May 7, 2002

Valerie L. Schurr 1950-2002
OSBORNE - Valerie L. Schurr, 51, died May 4 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. She was born Sept. 6, 1950, at Great Bend. She married Dick Schurr. A resident of Osborne, coming from Great Bend, she was a paraprofessional teacher at Osborne High School and Osborne Grade School. Mrs. Schurr was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Osborne. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Doran Schurr of Osborne; one daughter, Raegan Schurr of McPherson; her mother, Theresa Fisher of Great Bend; one brother, Terry Esfeld of Great Bend; two sisters, Virginia Rabenstein of Pittsburgh, Penn., and Vicki Duncan of Grand Junction, Colo.; and three grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Osborne United Methodist Church in Osborne with the Rev. Gary Davison officiating. Cremation will follow. Memorial Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to Osborne Baseball Complex, in care of Clark-Gashaw Mortuary, Inc., in Osborne. May 7, 2002

Donnell G. Baugher 1916-2002
JETMORE - Donnell G. Baugher, 86, died May 5 at Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center. He was born Feb. 25, 1916, at Jetmore, the son of Albert and Maude Shay Baugher. He married Ruby Gibbs July 1, 1941, at Arnold. A lifetime area resident, he was a businessman. Baugher was a member of International Order of Odd Fellows, Gun Club and Country Club, all of Jetmore. Survivors include his wife of the home. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dillwyn Baugher and Roy Baugher; and one sister, Elsie Cripe. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Jetmore with the Rev. Mitch Reece officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount cemetery in Jetmore. Friends may call until 8 tonight at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore. Memorials are suggested to Jetmore Senior Center, in care of the funeral home. May 6, 2002

Sister Virginia Stoecklein ASC
WICHITA - Sr. Virginia Stoecklein ASC, 75, died May 4. A resident of Wichita, she was a professional nurse. Survivors include five brothers, Melvin Stoecklein of Independence, Mo., Leonard Stoecklein of Ness City, Jim Stoecklein of Hutchinson, Don Stoecklein of Springhill and Martin Stoecklein Jr. of Eufala, Okla.; six sisters, Sr. Darlene Stoecklein ASC of El Paso, Texas, LuVera Rohr and Donna Werth, both of Great Bend, Cleo Werth of Hutchinson, Mary Ann Pavlu of Brownell and Betty Gassman of Manhattan. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Stoecklein and Gary Stoecklein; and two sisters, Judith and Dorothy Mae. Wake service will be at 7 tonight at Adorers of the Blood of Christ, Wichita Center. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Adorers of the Blood of Christ. Memorials are suggested to Retirement of Sisters, ASC, in care of DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita. May 6, 2002

Willus 'W.P.' Ladenburger 1926-2002
GRAINFIELD - Willus "W.P." Ladenburger, 75, died May 4 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born Dec. 19, 1926, in Sheridan County, the son of Peter J. and Caroline Wehner Ladenburger. He married Marianne Baalman Dec. 28, 1949, at Seguin. A lifetime area resident of Grainfield, he was co-owner of Midway Realty in Grainfield and was engaged in the grain business, farming and real estate. Ladenburger was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Grainfield, Third Degree Knights of Columbus, Park Council No. 2538, Grainfield Lions Club and Hoxie Elks Club. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Robert W. Ladenburger of Grand Junction, Colo., and Jay T. Ladenburger of Topeka; three daughters, Dixie Heinrich of Great Bend, M. Cheryl Patrick of Sugar Land, Texas, and Patricia Kennedy of Hoxie; one brother, George Ladenburger of Oakley; one sister, Lorena McConnell of Westminster, Colo.; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Ladenburger, Kenneth Ladenburger and Maurice Ladenburger; and one sister, Bernadette Bahm. Rosary will be at 7:30 tonight at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home in Oakley. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Mark Berland officiating. Burial will be at Grainfield cemetery in Grainfield. Friends may call until 9 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Gove County Healthcare Endowment Foundation or Grainfield Opera House Restoration Fund, both in care of the funeral home. May 6, 2002

Edith Abbie Darr Milberger 1910-2001
AUBURN, Wash. - Edith Abbie Darr Milberger, 91, died July 24, 2001, at Hallmark Manor in Federal Way, Wash. She was born Sept. 1, 1910, in La Crosse, the daughter of Charles and Abbie Darr. She married Leslie L. Milberger Oct. 16, 1930. He preceded her in death. A longtime resident of Great Bend, moving to Auburn in 1995, she was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Leslie Roger Milberger of Sacramento, Calif., and Curt Milberger of Auburn; two daughters, Judy Sonnenburg of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Janet Schartz of Irvine, Calif.; two sisters, Edaree Campbell and Sharon Jones; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Milberger; two brothers, Millard Darr and Ned Darr; and one granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 3400 21st, Great Bend. A private family service was previously held. Memorials are suggested to the church. May 5, 2002

Isack Litzenberger 1910-2002
JETMORE - Isack Litzenberger, 91, died May 2 at Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center in Jetmore. He was born Nov. 20, 1910, at Otis, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Michael Litzenberger. He married Marie Birt Fulton, Aug. 4, 1977, at Jetmore. A lifelong resident of Jetmore, he was co-owner of Litzenberger Motor Company of Jetmore. Litzenberger was a member of United Presbyterian Church, St. Bernard Lodge No. 222 AF &AM, American Legion Chester Hawkins Post 290, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6237 of Hanston, County Club and Senior Center, both of Jetmore. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; two stepdaughters, Ramona Mae Jackson of Rotonda West, Fla., and Dorothy Fulton of Hays; one brother, Wesley Litzenberger of Jetmore; one sister, Elma French of Reston, Va.; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by one brother, Henry "Hank" Litzenberger; and four sisters, Mary Jane Litzenberger, Leah Litzenberger, Kathryn Halling and Mildred Bacon. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church in Jetmore, with the Rev. Bill McConnelee officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount cemetery in Jetmore. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Hodgeman County Long Term Care, in care of the funeral home. May 5, 2002

Grace Bland 1919-2002
STAFFORD - Grace Bland, 83, died May 3 at Hutchinson Hospital. She was born Feb. 24, 1919, at Hudson, the daughter of Joseph and Josephina Frenzl Willinger. She married Wilbur Bland in 1971. He died Feb. 6, 1993. A resident of Stafford since 1993, coming from Hutchinson, she worked for Sears in Hutchinson for 20 years before her retirement. Mrs. Bland was a member of American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include one stepson, Steve Evans of Kansas City, Mo; two stepdaughters, Nikki Cody of Longton and Cindy Lynn Slye of Pilot Point, Texas; and three step-grandchildren. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park cemetery in Hutchinson. Memorials are suggested to Stafford District Hospital, in care of Minnis Chapel in Stafford. May 5, 2002

Heather McClary Dawn Peters 1964-2002
LINDSBORG - Heather McClary Dawn Peters, 37, died May 2 at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson. She was born Sept. 15, 1964, at Meade, the daughter of Robert and Patsy Barnett McClary. She married Jeffrey Peters Sept. 28, 1999, at Lindsborg. A resident of Lindsborg since 1994, coming from Great Bend, she was a homemaker. Mrs. McClary was a member of Episcopal Church of Incarnation in Salina, and Moms and Tots in Lindsborg. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Kaden Peters of Lindsborg; one daughter, Keari Schmidt of Lindsborg; one stepson, Cole Peters of Palco; her parents of Great Bend; and one brother, Eric McClary of Lawrence. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Great Bend, with the Rev. Kevin Schmidt officiating. Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church in Lindsborg, with the Revs. Kevin Schmidt and May Kay Bond officiating. Burial will be at Smoky Hill cemetery in Lindsborg. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, with family receiving friends from 7-8 p.m. at Hays-Christians Funeral Home in Lindsborg. Memorials are suggested to Breast Cancer Foundation, the children's education fund or Friendship Inn of Kansas City, all in care of the funeral home. May 5, 2002

Gene Nathan Waters 1938-2002
ST. JOHN- Gene Nathan Waters, 63, died May 3 at Stafford District Hospital in Stafford. He was born Sept. 6, 1938, in Stafford, the son of Ralph H. and Madge B. Butler Waters. He was a lifetime resident of St. John. Waters was a member of Free Methodist Church in Macksville, and attended Pathways Residential Care Center in Macksville. Survivors include two sisters, Cathleen Sullivan of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Ann Weaver of San Francisco, Calif. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Minnis Chapel in St. John. Burial will be at Fairview Park cemetery in St. John. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Memorials are suggested to the church or Camp Pride, The Arc of Wichita, both in care of the chapel. May 5, 2002

Sue Ann Lawrence 1958-2002
WICHITA - Sue Ann Lawrence, 44, died May 3 at her home in Wichita. She was born March 3, 1958, at La Crosse, the daughter of Howard and Jo Ann Montgomery Lawrence. A resident of Wichita since 1979, coming from Albert, she was employed at Center Industries in Wichita. Lawrence attended church services at the Timbers Chapel. Survivors include her parents of Albert; two brothers, Brent Lawrence of Columbia, Mo., and Bruce Lawrence of Great Bend; and one sister, Shirley Deege of Kinsley. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Rev. Jana Baxter officiating. Burial will be at Albert cemetery in Albert. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, in care of the funeral home. May 5, 2002

Virginia McNeil 1924-2002
LARNED - Virginia McNeil, 77, died May 1 at her home in Larned. She was born Nov. 15, 1924, at Larned, the daughter of T. Oscar and Lulu F. Christian Lowery. She married Virgil E. McNeil Aug. 8, 1975, at Larned. He died Feb. 8, 1994. A lifetime resident of Larned, she was a retired secretary at Larned State Hospital. Mrs. McNeil was a member of First Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Larned Country Club, all of Larned. Survivors include two daughters, Diana Fell Gibson of Larned and Keyna Fell Schliefert of Great Bend; one sister, Maxine Shaffer of Kinsley; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Lowery. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Larned cemetery with the Rev. Dan Lundgren officiating. Friends may call until 8 tonight, and from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Friday, all at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned. Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Home and Hospice, in care of the funeral home. May 2, 2002

Helen Marie Wren 1945-2002
LA CROSSE - Helen Marie Wren, 56, died April 28 at Ottawa, Ohio. She was born Sept. 8, 1945, at La Crosse, the daughter of James William and Ethel Myrtle Owens Whalen. A resident of Ottawa, coming from La Crosse, she was a computer expert. Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly King; her mother of La Crosse; two brothers, William Newell Whalen of Gresham, Ore., and Ervin E. Whalen of Manasses, Va.; two sisters, Murlene M. Stradt of La Crosse and Ardith A. Tallman of Dayton, Ohio; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Whalen and Everett Whalen. There will be no services. No memorials are suggested. Janousek Funeral Home of La Crosse is in charge of local arrangements. May 2, 2002
