George Troy 'G.T.' Crockett 1987-2002
SHARON - George Troy "G.T." Crockett, 15, died July 11 as the result of an automobile accident north of Sawyer. He was born Feb. 3, 1987, at Great Bend, the son of Randy W. Crockett and Lucinda Melea Bartlett Fredrick. A resident of Sharon for one year, coming from Byers, he was a student. Survivors include his father of Sharon; his mother of Pratt; two brothers, Jeremy Keith Crockett of St. John and Caleb Krankenberg of Hudson; three sisters, Jenna Michelle Crockett of Pratt, Morgan Krankenberg of Hudson and Dana Marie Mowery of Lompoc, Calif.; and his grandparents, Bernard and Barbara Bartlett of Stafford and Gene and Chiemi Krankenberg of Hudson. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt with the Rev. Tom Walters officiating. Burial will be at Stafford Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Pratt Humane Society or Medicine Lodge High School Athletic Department, both in care of the mortuary. July 14, 2002

Albert A. Hlaus 1919-2002
WILSON - Albert A. Hlaus, 83, died July 11. He was born Jan. 21, 1919, at Wilson. He married Mary. She died in 1994. A resident of Wilson, he was a retired farmer and stockman. Survivors include one stepson, Richard Rezac of Kennewich, Wash.; and one stepdaughter, Sharon Soukup of Garden City. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph Hlaus, James Hlaus, Frank Hlaus, Charles Hlaus and Emil Hlaus; and three sisters, Anna Staudinger, Mary Hlaus and Agnes Hlaus. Rosary will be at 5 p.m. tonight at Foster Mortuary in Wilson. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson. Burial will be at St. Wenceslaus cemetery in Wilson with military honors by John F. McManus American Legion Post 262. Friends may call until 8 p.m. tonight at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the mortuary. July 14, 2002

Ralph E. Linke 1942-2002
CHASE - Ralph E. Linke, 60, died July 11 at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born Jan. 11, 1942, at Ellsworth, the son of Austin M. and Georgia R. Michells Linke. He married Mary L. Loutzenhiser on Nov. 25, 1963 at Chase. A lifetime resident of Chase, he was a pumper and trucker. Linke was a member of Chase Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Thomas L. Linke and Joseph R. Linke, both of Chase, and Matthew L. Linke of Hutchinson; one brother, Jerry Linke of Geneseo; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one infant sister. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Chase Springdale cemetery with Johnnie Hardie officiating. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. today at Sillin Funeral Home in Lyons. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home. July 14, 2002

Hugo Harold Damm 1931-2002
Hugo Harold Damm, 71, died July 12 at his residence in Great Bend. He was born April 5, 1931, at Great Bend, the son of Hugo L. and Louise Shepherd Damm. He married Nancy R. Jennings on Dec. 27, 1958, at Pomeroy, Wash. A lifetime resident of the Great Bend area, he was a farmer. Damm was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Lee Damm and Jeff Damm, both of Great Bend; one brother, Maurice Damm of Great Bend; one sister, Louise Witte of Denver, Colo.; and four grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Warren Stecklein officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home. July 14, 2002

Margaret Jane Tucker 1914-2002
MACKSVILLE - Margaret Jane Tucker, 88, died July 12 at Stafford District Hospital in Stafford. She was born Jan. 10, 1914 at Macksville, the daughter of Carl W. and Loui Neill. She was a 1932 graduate of Macksville High School, and attended cosmetology school at Wichita. She married Walter Scott Tucker Jr., Aug. 7, 1935 at Ashland. He preceded her in death. A lifetime resident of Macksville and Valley Center communities, she was a beautician and homemaker. Mrs. Tucker was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, past treasurer of United Methodist Women, Rose of Sharon Chapter 356, past Worthy Matron, and 50 year member of Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include one daughter, Karen Coblentz of Hutchinson; one sister, Betty McGowan of Bethany, Okla.; and one brother, Bernard Neill of Springfield, Colo.; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Dean Tucker; and one brother, Dorsey Dean Neill. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church in Macksville, with Dr. David Upp officiating. Burial will be at Farmington cemetery in Macksville. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. on Monday at Minnis Chapel in Macksville. Memorials are suggested to the Macksville Ambulance fund in care of the chapel. July 14, 2002

Shirley Kaye Sprout 1943-2002
LARNED - Shirley Kaye Sprout, 57, died July 12 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, in Wichita. She was born Dec. 11, 1943, at Macksville, the daughter of Martin D. and Nellie I. Hart Suiter Sprout. She married Leonard E. Sprout on Jan. 30, 1960, at Larned. A resident of Larned, coming from Goddard, she was a Navy wife. Mrs. Sprout served as ombudsman for the USS Brewton. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, David E. Sprout of Goddard; one daughter, Debra K. Cauble of Larned; her mother of Hutchinson; two brothers, Richard Suiter of Hutchinson and Lee Suiter of Macksville; two sisters, Jennie Aves of Macksville and Louise McCuller of White Oak, Texas; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Shelton. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned with the Rev. Dan Lundgren officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, all at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Great Bend Humane Society, in care of the mortuary. July 15, 2002

Irene 'Renee' Shoemaker 1910-2002
Irene "Renee" Shoemaker, 92, of Great Bend, died July 13 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. She was born May 21, 1910, at Newton, the daughter of Peyton Ira and Ellen Alveeda Larson Perkins. She married H.E. "Pat" Shoemaker on Sept. 6, 1936, at Buhler. He died Oct. 2, 1981. A resident of Great Bend for five years, coming from Newton, she was co-owner of Renee Photography Studio in Newton. Mrs. Shoemaker was a member of Kansas and National Photographers Associations, Order of the Eastern Star, 20th Century Club and a Red Cross volunteer in Newton. Survivors include one daughter, Victoria K. Berryman of Great Bend; two sisters, Rose Marie Strafelda of Saratoga, Calif., and Eleanor Smith of Independence; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Carroll Perkins. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood cemetery in Newton with the Rev. David E. Carlson officiating. Friends may call until 9 tonight at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to American Lung Association, in care of the funeral home. July 15, 2002

Frank Munoz 1921-2002
Frank Munoz, 81, of Great Bend, died July 13 at his residence in Great Bend. He was born Feb. 5, 1921, at San Antonio, Texas, the son of Fructoso Quentonilla. He married Katherine M. on May 8, 1943, at Great Bend. She died Nov. 24, 1996. A resident of Great Bend, he was a parts delivery person for Big A Auto Parts. Munoz was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. Survivors include two sons, Carl Munoz and Dennis Munoz; his father; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fryberger Mortuary Chapel in Great Bend with the Rev. Julius C. Ellis officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. No memorials are suggested. July 15, 2002

Hiram F. Smith 1910-2002
STERLING - Hiram F. Smith, 92, died July 14 at Presbyterian Manor in Sterling. He was born June 14, 1910, in Ness County, the son of William and Effie Henry Smith. He married Marceline Tener in 1934. She died in 1959. He married Lillie Schrader in 1960. She died in 1976. He then married Anna Smisor in 1977. A resident of Sterling since 1960, he was a laborer for American Salt Co. Smith was a member of United Presbyterian Church in Sterling. He was a veteran of the Kansas National Guard. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Franklin Earl Smith of Baltimore, Md.; two daughters, Sharon Palmgren of Lyons and Jeannine Hefley of Grove, Okla.; one sister, Irene Cowles of Sheridian, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Duane Smith; one daughter, Dolores Nevil; six brothers; three sisters; and one great-granddaughter, Kayla Demoret. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Glen Holman officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 today at Sillin Funeral Home in Sterling. Memorials are suggested to the church, Sterling Presbyterian Manor or American Cancer Society, all in care of the funeral home. July 16, 2002

Tevin Duane Wilson 1980-2002
SUSANK - Tevin Duane Wilson, 22, died July 14 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born March 15, 1980, at Hoisington, the son of Richard and Diana Boese Wilson. He was a 1999 graduate of Hoisington High School. He married Chrystal Fick on July 10, 1999, at Hoisington. A lifetime resident of Susank, he worked as a cook for Three Geese Restaurant in Hoisington, was a welder for Great Bend Manufacturing and a rough neck for LD Drilling in Great Bend. Wilson was a member of the Army National Guard since 1998. Survivors include his wife of Great Bend; one son, Joshua Duane Wilson of Great Bend; one stepson, Jason Michael Effertz of Great Bend; his parents of Susank; and two sisters, Nicole Potter of Hoisington and Holly Boese of Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eldois and Rosemary Wilson, and Wilbert and Gwen Boese. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington with the Rev. Garry Dassow officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington cemetery with military rites by Kansas National Guard. Friends may call from 3-8 tonight, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Tevin Duane Wilson Fund, in care of the funeral home. July 16, 2002

Robert B. Korf 1921-2002
BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. - Robert B. Korf, 81, died July 8 at Garden Rehab and Care Center in Kingman, Ariz. He was born April 22, 1921, at Hoisington, the son of William and Mary Thompson Korf. He married Marian Sue Murphy on Nov. 14, 1945, at Yuma, Ariz. A longtime resident of Bullhead City, he was a retired retailer of men's and boys' clothing. Korf was a member of the Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, having served in World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Kathleen Dadourian of Long Beach, Calif.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Tom Korf; four brothers, Henry Korf, James Korf, Charles Korf and William Korf; and five sisters, Mary Demel, Elizabeth Newkirk, Adelia Spanier, Theresa Birzer and Sister Kathleen Patricia Korf. Cremation has taken place. No memorials were suggested. July 16, 2002

Frank Munoz 1921-2002
Frank Munoz, 81, of Great Bend, died July 13 at Great Bend. He was born Feb. 5, 1921, at San Antonio, Texas, the son of Ramon and Marty Rosalis Morales Quintanilla. He married Katherine Nan Pyle on May 8, 1943, at Great Bend. She died in November 1996. A resident of Great Bend, he was a retired automotive parts delivery person. Munoz was a veteran of U.S. Army Air Forces, Section 12, Maintenance Division Base Air Depot, having served in the European Theater of Operations. He served in England for 28 months. Munoz enjoyed reading. Survivors include two sons, Carl Munoz and his wife, Virginia K., of Hoisington and Dennis Munoz of Great Bend; four grandchildren, Bryan Munoz, Karla Boley, Joshua Munoz and Zach Munoz; and four great-grandchildren, Kaylie Boley, Emilee Boley, Taylor Munoz and Jaidyn Munoz. Funeral service was today. Burial was at Larned Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, in care of Fryberger Mortuary in Great Bend. July 17, 2002

Lucille Sallie Fischer 1913-2002
Lucille Sallie Fischer, 89, of Great Bend, died July 15 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. She was born June 2, 1913, at Great Bend, the daughter of John K. Anderson and Georgia A. Anderson. She married John Karl Fischer on April 25, 1935, at Great Bend. He died Aug. 11, 1981. A lifetime resident of the Stafford and Barton County area, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Fischer was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and St. Rose Altar Society, both of Great Bend. Survivors include one son, Stephen R. Fischer and his wife Nancy of Fruitland Park, Fla.; two daughters, Merlyn L. Stoecklein and her husband Jerry, and JoAnn Simpson, all of Great Bend; six grandchildren, Lea Ann LeRoy and her husband Mark, and Gordan Simpson and his wife Lynn, all of Great Bend, Karl Stoecklein of San Antonio, Texas, Alan Stoecklein of Albert, Monty Simpson and his wife Cheryl of Bay St. Louis, Miss., and Connie Fischer and her husband Jon Sadowsky of Martinez, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Simpson, Brice Simpson, Kyle LeRoy and Caleb Simpson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen Anderson and Robert Anderson. Altar Society rosary will be at 3 today at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Vigil service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Revs. Warren Stecklein and Angel Dy officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or Great Bend Senior Center, both in care of the funeral home. July 17, 2002

Oretta Elma Lesley 1921-2002
THORNTON, Colo. - Oretta Elma Lesley, 81, died July 14 at Thornton. She was born Nov. 15, 1920, at Pratt. She married Bernard Leroy Lesley. He preceded her in death. A resident of Thornton, coming from Wichita, Great Bend, Scott City and Pratt, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Lesley was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Jon Lance Lesley of Colorado Springs, Colo., two daughters, Dana Rice of Manassas, Va., and Lisa Lesley-Barker of Wichita; one sister, Donna Moran of Thornton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and six sisters. Funeral was held July 16. Burial was at Green Lawn cemetery in Pratt. Arrangements were handled by Aspen Mortuaries in Arvada, Colo. July 17, 2002
