GLEN ELDER — Keith V. Neifert, 73, died June 20 at Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit. He was born Aug. 7, 1930, on a farm near Glen Elder. He was a farmer and a stockman.
Survivors include his special friend, Marlys Yarnell; two sons, David Neifert of Seward and Dennis Neifert of Liberal; one daughter, Wanda Dunn of Haysville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janila Neifert-Smith.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at McDonald Funeral Home in Beloit. Burial will be at Glenwood cemetery in Glen Elder. Memorials are suggested to Club 86 or Glen Elder American Legion, both in care of McDonald-Roberts Funeral Service in Beloit.

Joyce Elaine Feemster Reed 1935-2004
Joyce Elaine Feemster Reed, 69, of Great Bend, died June 20 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. She was born Jan. 14, 1935, the daughter of Herman and Elaine Walters Oberle. She married Eugene Feemster Sept. 9, 1953. She then married Eldon Reed Dec. 9, 1983, at Great Bend. He died Dec. 26, 2003. A lifetime resident of Barton County, she was a waitress for Waxy’s Café.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Ellinwood and past president of American Legion Auxiliary of Ellinwood.
Survivors include four sons, Sam Feemster and Frank Feemster, both of Ellinwood, Ron Feemster of Escondido, Calif., and Rick Feemster of Dodge City; two stepsons, Don Reed of Great Bend and Bruce Reed of Anacortes, Ore.; two brothers, Leon Oberle of WaKeeney and Dennis Oberle of Cunningham; 18 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Renee Galyardt; and one brother, Pat Oberle.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Revs. Reginald Urban and John J. Maes officiating. Burial will be at Lakin Comanche cemetery in Ellinwood. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.

Roger Duane Richter 1956-2004
Roger Duane Richter, 48, of Great Bend, died June 16 southwest of Great Bend. He was born May 5, 1956, in St. John, the son of Richard Richter and Leila Griffitt. He married Jacque Barnett June 21, 1980, at Great Bend. A lifetime resident of the Great Bend area, he was a truck salesman for Peterbilt of Great Bend LLC/Larson GMC of Great Bend. He was a member of First United Congregational Church of Christ, Elks Lodge and Lake Barton Golf Club, all of Great Bend, Isis Shrine Temple of Salina, AOPA and KMCA. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Jesse Duane Richter and Nicholas Michael Richter, both of the home; his father of Timken; his mother of Hoisington; one brother, Scott Richter of Timken; one sister, Vicky Morrison of Albert; and his grandmother, Winifred Healzer of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by one sister, Carla Boese. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Diana Coberly officiating. Edward Eugene ‘Gene’ Aves 1931-2004
MACKSVILLE — Edward Eugene “Gene” Aves, 72, died June 18 at Hospice House of Pratt. He was born Nov. 6, 1931, at Hopewell, the son of John Emerson and Leatha Marie Johnson Aves. He married Norma Jean Suiter Jan. 21, 1951, at Macksville. A resident of Macksville since 1948, he was a seed sales representative for Asgrow Seed Company. He was a member of American Legion of Macksville and Veterans of Foreign Wars of St. John. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Dan Aves of Macksville; one daughter, Pam Wellman of Springfield, Mass.; one sister, Peggy Wilson of Macksville; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Wayne Aves. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Macksville Christian Church, with Carey Haner officiating. Kimberly Ann Caley 1972-2004
STAFFORD — Kimberly Ann Caley, 32, died Thursday, June 16, in rural Great Bend. Born April 13, 1972, at Stafford, she was the daughter of La Vern and Edwina Lou Rogers Girard. She was a lifetime Stafford resident and was a Certified Plan Consultant for CPI in Great Bend. She was a 1992 graduate of Stafford High School. She was an active volunteer for numerous benefits including Relay for Life. She attended Calvary Baptist Church of Stafford and had baked cakes for birthdays, weddings and graduations. On July 24, 1993, she married Craig Caley at Stafford. He survives. Other survivors include: one daughter, Alyson Caley of the home; her parents, La Vern and Lou Girard of Stafford; three brothers, Tim Girard and his wife Lori of Pratt, Kirk Girard and his wife Tammy of Prairie View, and Joey Girard and his wife Sheri of Claflin; her parents-in-law, Larry and Sharon Caley of Stafford; sister-in-law, Corinna Doyle and her husband Mike of Shawnee; and nephews and nieces, Ryan and LeAnn Girard of Pratt, Jordan and Michaela Girard of Prairie Village, Emily and Kylee Girard of Claflin, and Grant and Ethan Doyle of Shawnee. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 21, at Minnis Chapel of Stafford, with Jim Monroe presiding. Burial will be at Stafford Cemetery. Layne Louise Mason, 48, of Great Bend, died June 16 southwest of Great Bend. She was born July 10, 1955, at Great Bend, the daughter of Louis “Bud” and Violet Wittman Black. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was a plan administrator of CPI Qualified Plan Consultants Inc. She attended First Christian Church in Great Bend. Survivors include one daughter, Carley Lynne Mason of Great Bend; two foster daughters, Nicci Medina of Sand Springs, Okla., and Dani Wilson of Kellyville, Okla.; her parents of Great Bend; one sister, Lynne Scheuerman of Great Bend; and five foster grandchildren. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. Wayne Eugene Unruh 1921-2004
Wayne Eugene Unruh, 82, of Great Bend, died June 19 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Pawnee Rock, the son of Otis and Lena Schultz Unruh. He married Selma Werhahn Oct. 29, 1945, in Ellinwood. A lifetime area resident, he had been a lineman for Central Kansas Electric and a farmer. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Great Bend. Survivors include his wife of the home; and two brothers, Elgie Unruh of Pawnee Rock and Laramie Unruh of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by one sister, Juletha Fox. There will be a private family graveside service. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the church or donor’s choice, both in care of Bryant Funeral Home of Great Bend. Kathleen M. Nutt 1917-2004
Kathleen M. Nutt, 87, of Great Bend, died June 17 at Alterra Sterling House. She was born June 14, 1917, at Philadelphia, Penn., the daughter of Bernard J. and Catherine Corrigan Morris. She married Ted L. Nutt Dec. 23, 1944, at Waco, Texas. He died Sept. 19, 2002. A resident of Great Bend since 1962, coming from Ellinwood, she was a former secretary for Barton County Health Department. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Great Bend. She was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal. Survivors include one sister, Mae R. Snyder of Philadelphia. Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m. and vigil service at 7:30 p.m., both today at Bryant Funeral Home of Great Bend. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Ted Stoecklein officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery, with Fort Riley military honors. Jody Balthazor 1959-2004
PLAINVILLE — Jody Balthazor, 44, died June 16 at Hays Medical Center. She was born Aug. 4, 1959, at Hays, the daughter of Wilbert and Mary Ann Koerner Gross. She graduated from Hays High School. She married Marty Balthazor Oct. 29, 1977, in Munjor. A resident of Plainville since 1977, she was a day care provider for 25 years and a homemaker.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Justin Balthazor of Wellington and Ross Balthazor of the home; her parents of Munjor; and two sisters, Kelly Spray of Great Bend and Shannon Meitner of Plainville. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lynn Gross.
Ladies Guild Rosary will be at 3 p.m. today at Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Plainville. Parish vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Joe Popelka officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Cecilia A. Sanders 1908-2004
LA CROSSE — Cecilia A. Sanders, 95, died June 17 at Rush County Nursing Home in La Crosse. She was born Aug. 1, 1908, at Liebenthal, the daughter of Adam and Pauline Diehl Herrman. She married William “Bill” Sanders April 27, 1928. He died Aug. 13, 1970. A lifelong Rush County resident, she was a retired cook.
Mrs. Sanders was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and St. Michael’s Altar Society, both of La Crosse.
Survivors include three sisters, Isabel Schuckman of La Crosse, Mary Barnes of Ness City and Stella Miller of Newton; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Sanders; six brothers, Walter Herrman, Bart Herrman, Frank Herrman, Adolph Herrman, Reinhold Herrman and John Herrman; and three sisters, Geneva Champlin, Mathilda Leiker and Agnes Klaus.
Vigil and rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in La Crosse, with the Rev. Charles Mazouch officiating. Burial will be at La Crosse City cemetery in La Crosse. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Alice L. Biskeborn 1924-2004
ALLYN, Wash. — Alice L. Biskeborn, 79, died June 7 at Poulsbo, Wash. She was born Dec. 15, 1924, at Stafford, the daughter of James and Leah Keisling Lofland. She was a 1941 graduate of Great Bend High School. She married Leonard L. Biskeborn April 8, 1946, at Elko, Nev. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Robert Biskeborn of Pfafftown, N.C.; one daughter, Joyce Munson of Poulsbo; one brother, James Lofland Jr. of Great Bend; three sisters, Darlene Unruh of Liberal, Mayme DuBois of Almena and Letha Luther of Hays; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Smith; and a grandson, David.
Memorial service was held June 11 at Lewis Funeral Home in Bremerton, Wash. The body was cremated. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association in care of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

WAKEENEY — Robert L. Rodie, 73, died June 13 at WaKeeney. He was born May 5, 1931, at Timken, the son of Alex and Clara Scheuerman Rodie. He attended schools in Otis/Bison. He married Betty Thomas Oct. 9, 1999, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in WaKeeney. A resident of WaKeeney, he was a farmer.
Rodie was a member of Randall Reid Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3449, American Legion Moore Post No. 197 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge No. 3774, all of WaKeeney. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two stepsons, Kenny Thomas of Tampa, Fla., and Richard Thomas of Indianola, Neb.; three daughters, Roseann Eiler of Indianapolis, Ind., Cathy Wethington of Lebanon, Ind., and Susan Schwietzer of Hays; three stepdaughters, Louella Slater of Holdrege, Neb., Linda Thomas of Wauneta, Neb., and Rita Thomas of Paxton, Neb.; three brothers, Wayne Rodie of Timken, Richard Rodie of Ness City and Alex Rodie Jr. of Fort Dodge; three grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Rodie.

Carrie L. Braley 1930-2004
DODGE CITY — Carrie L. Braley, 73, died June 14 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born Sept. 14, 1930, at Great Bend, the daughter of Walter L. and Margaret Fox Booker. She grew up and attended school in Great Bend. She married Joe Braley on July 31, 1953, in Great Bend. They moved to Dodge City after their marriage. Mrs. Braley worked for Sandy’s Boutique, Trinity Hospital and was the manager of the Salvation Army Thrift Store for many years. She was preceded in death by one son, Dwight Braley, on March 26, 1994. She loved life to the fullest and was loved by all who came in contact with her.
Memberships include Second Baptist Missionary Church in Dodge City.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Braley of Dodge City; daughters, Pauletta Elliott of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Triena Phifer of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sons, Daryl Autry of Bridge Port, Texas, Ken Braley of Kansas City, Mo., Mike Braley of Chantilly, Va., Gordon Braley of Norton and Craig Braley of Dodge City; a brother, Roland Booker of Wichita Falls, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City, with the Rev. Mark Booker officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery in Dodge City. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army, in care of the funeral home.
