Bernice Kirkpatrick 1914-2004
APPLETON, Wis. — Bernice Kirkpatrick, 89, died March 7 at Peabody Manor in Appleton. She was born Nov. 12, 1914, at Pawnee Rock, the daughter of Axel and Mae Nelson Hanson. She married Earl R. Kirkpatrick June 18, 1938, at Larned. He died June 20, 1980. A resident of Appleton for the past 63 years, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick was a member of the Christian faith, an Appleton Medical Center Auxiliary volunteer, Fox Valley Homemakers Association and Thompson Community Center in Appleton.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Fadner of Stevens Point, Wis., and Betty Barker of Appleton; one brother, Amil Hanson of Great Bend; one sister, Frieda Still of Great Bend; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Hanson.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Larned cemetery with the Rev. Charles Grant officiating. Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association or the donor’s choice, both in care of the funeral home.

Mikiala Kahiliewaokolani Martinez 1984-2004
Mikiala “Miki” Kahiliewaokolani Martinez, 19, of Great Bend, died Feb. 21 in rural Great Bend. She
was born July 26, 1984, at Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of James R. and Alleda J. Lewis Martinez. A resident of Great Bend since 1987,
coming from Honolulu, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Nicholas Ray Wornkey of Great Bend; one daughter, Heaven Marie Wornkey of Great Bend; her father of Great Bend; her mother, Alleda J. Hoilien of Great Bend; her stepfather, Alan Hoilien of Great Bend; one brother, Kimo Martinez of Great Bend; one stepbrother, Curtis Hoilien of Great Bend; four sisters, Jewel Juarez, Maylene Fernandez-Lewis and Lehua Martinez, all of Great Bend, and Shawnte Morris of Honolulu; one stepsister, Rosenna Hoilien of Red Oak, Iowa; her grandfather, Edmund Martinez of Great Bend; and her great-grandmother, Francis Cilek of Hutchinson.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home of Great Bend, with the Rev. Don Paden officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Miki Martinez Children’s Education Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Louise K. Rebein 1907-2004
Louise K. Rebein, 96, died March 8 at Cedar Lake Village. She was born Aug. 8, 1907, in Rice County, the daughter of Frank and Katherine Oberle. She was a resident of Ellinwood for 70 years and Great Bend for 21 years.
Survivors include one son, Robert Rebein of Scottsville, Va.; one daughter, Phillys Bartels of Olathe; eight grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe. Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick’s School Endowment Fund of Great Bend or St. Joseph’s School Endowment Fund of Ellinwood, both in care of Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe.

Warren R. Clark 1928-2004
PRATT — Warren R. Clark, 75, died March 7 at Wesley Hospital in Wichita. He was born March 24, 1928, in Pratt, the son of Albert and Bessie Webster Clark. He married Lida J. Lambert April 23, 1947, at Stafford. She died June 11, 1994. He married Thelma Richardson Durr Sept. 30, 1994, in Miami, Okla. A resident of Pratt since 1994, coming from Great Bend, he was a retired route salesman for Stickney Distributing.
Clark was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Allan Dean Clark of Desoto and Michael Dee Clark of Great Bend; one daughter, Debra Kay Pedigo of Port Allen, La.; one stepson, Billy E. Hamm of Shawnee; one stepdaughter, Walinda J. Hamm of Federal Heights, Colo.; one brother, Benny Clark of Desoto; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, David Clark.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn cemetery in Pratt, with the Rev. Karen Lemon officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, all at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt. Memorials are suggested to South Wind Hospice, in care of the mortuary.

Cleat Walters 1919-2004
Cleat Walters, 85, of Great Bend, died March 6 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. He was born Feb. 16, 1919, at
Wichita Falls, Texas, the son of Hugh T. and Virginia Mary Cavaniss Walters. He was a graduate of Great Bend High School. He
married Virginia Marie Evans Jan. 24, 1939, at Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend since 1936, coming from Henrietta, Okla., he worked in the oil fields rig building and unit setting and worked with Lindholm Construction and Windsor Door until retiring in 1985.
Walters was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Great Bend, Apache Chapter of Kansas Anthropology Society and Kansas State Historical Society.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Cleat Walters Jr. of Reidsville, N.C., and Donald L. Walters of Monterey, Calif.; two daughters, Carol Ann Vieyra of Littleton, Colo., and Diana Marie Walters of Pueblo, Colo.; two sisters, Betty Clark Keenan of Great Bend and Margaret Redmon of Richardson, Texas; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Hugh Walters Jr., Warren G. Walters and Donald L. Walters.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home of Great Bend, with the Rev. Dr. Doyle Smith officiating. A private family burial will follow at a later date. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or Barton County Historical Society, both in care of the funeral home.

Virginia L. Mazouch 1921-2004
Virginia L. Mazouch, 83, of Great Bend, died March 7 at Great Bend. She was born Feb. 4, 1921, at Great Bend, the daughter of Rudolph and Angela Mauler Kuhlman. She married John C. Mazouch Sept. 5, 1945, at Olmitz. He died Jan. 9, 1990. A resident of Great Bend since 1985, coming from Timken, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Mazouch was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Patrick Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include four sons, Father Charles Mazouch of La Crosse, Eugene and Mary Ann Mazouch, and Dennis and Susan Mazouch, all of Great Bend, and Marion and Kerry Mazouch of Randolph; two brothers, Charles and Cathy Kuhlman of Trumbull, Neb., and Don and Loretta Kuhlman of Olmitz; 10 grandchildren, Chris Mazouch, Michael Mazouch, Greg Mazouch, Stephen Mazouch, Matthew Mazouch, Nicholas Mazouch, Sara Mazouch, Laura Mazouch, Amanda Mazouch and Kristina Mazouch. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Kuhlman, Marion Kuhlman and Paul Kuhlman.
Altar Society rosary will be at 4 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today, followed by a D of I rosary, all at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Most Rev. Ronald Gilmore officiating. Celebrant will be Father Charles Mazouch with other concelebrating priests. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross cemetery in Timken. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Holy Family School Endowment Fund, St. Patrick Catholic Church, both of Great Bend, and St. Michael Catholic Church in La Crosse, all in care of the funeral home.

Russell L. Jimison 1924-2004
WICHITA — Russell L. Jimison, 79, died March 6 at Select Specialty Hospital in Wichita. He was born Nov. 17, 1924, in Stafford, the son of William Marion and Minnie Pearl Haworth Jimison. He was a graduate of Stafford High School. A resident of Wichita since 1980, coming from Great Bend, he was a farmer in the Great Bend area and was a retired custodian for USD 259 Wichita schools.
Jimison was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.
Survivors include one brother, Lysle Jimison of Winfield; and four sisters, Dortha Sanford, Lorraine Ripley and Marjorie Tribue, all of Wichita, and Wanda Gere of Garden City. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Horace Jimison, Bob Jimison and Howard Jimison.
Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Stafford Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Minnis Chapel in Stafford. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, in care of the funeral chapel.

David Carroll Showalter 1934-2004
David Carroll Showalter, 70, of Great Bend, died March 6 at his home. He was born Feb. 25, 1934, in Sabetha, the son of Carroll and Velma Brougher Showalter. He married Betty Bisterfeldt May 13, 1986. A resident of Great Bend, he was a field mechanic for Martin Tractor in Concordia for 15 years and shop manager for Foley Tractor for 11 years.
Showalter was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111 and First United Methodist Church, both of Great Bend. He was a veteran of the Korean War. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Tanya Mossburgh of Palmer, Alaska; one stepdaughter, Sherri Ryan of Hays; his mother of Topeka; two brothers, Fred Showalter of Atlanta, Ga., and John Showalter of Wichita; one sister, Yvonne Fadely of Topeka; two grandchildren, Cheriee Mossburgh of Anchorage, Alaska, and Luke Mossburgh of Greeley, Colo.; three stepgrandchildren, Amy and Blaine Brown, and Tammy and Braden Werner, all of Plainville, and Will Ryan of Hays; and seven step-great-grandchildren, Brandon, Bo and D.J. Brown, Maverick, Cole, Brooke and Bailey Werner, all of Plainville. He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Showalter; and one brother, Charles Showalter.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Charter Funerals Chapel in Great Bend, with the Rev. Gary Brooks of First United Methodist Church of Great Bend officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Concordia. Graveside service will be officiated by the Rev. Timothy Harlan of First United Methodist Church of Concordia. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today, all at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice or Heartland Cancer Center, both in care of the funeral chapel.

Otto Barbee 1911-2004
Otto Barbee, 92, died March 7. He was born April 4, 1911, in Adair County, Okla., the son of John and Permelia Vanzandt-Barbee. He was a 1929 graduate of Westville, Okla., high school and a 1931 graduate of Arkansas City Junior College. He married Gladys Doughty Nov. 17, 1936. She died in 1990. He retired from Northern Natural Gas in Great Bend as area manager in 1974.
Survivors include one son, Rick Barbee of Wichita. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Barbee and Roy Barbee; and two sisters, Grace and Edith.
Burial will be at Forest Park cemetery in Shreveport, La.
