Ruth Marie Rupp 1928-2004
NESS CITY— Ruth Marie Rupp, 75, died March 5 at Via Christi Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. She was born July 26, 1928 on a farm near Ness City, the daughter of Joseph and Lena Zimmerman Rebel. She married Toney Rupp Aug. 20, 1946, at Ness City. A resident of Ness City, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Rupp was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Altar Society, and American Legion Post #142 Auxiliary all of Ness City.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, Perry Rupp, Todd Rupp, and Toney Rupp Jr., all of Ness City; one daughter, Patty Rohr of Great Bend; three brothers, Gilbert Rebel and Ralph Rebel both of Ness City, and Jerry Rebel of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Josie Basgall of La Crosse, and Vera Munsch of Ness City; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Rebel and Izzy Rebel; three sisters, Margaret Huelke, Martina Betz, and Jeanette Girard; and one grandson, Mitch Rohr.
Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Gregory LeBlanc officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and from 5 p.m. until vigil service on Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart School in care of the funeral home.

Darrell Maddy 1933-2004
LARNED — Darrell Maddy, 70, died March 4 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned. He was born Nov. 9, 1933, at Stockton, the son of William and Norma Copper Maddy. He married Linda Lee Jennings Dec. 28, 1971. A resident of Larned, coming from Hays, he was a retired supply storekeeper for Larned State Hospital.
Maddy was a member of Pawnee County 4-H, Kansas Open Barrel Racing Association, National Barrel Racing Association, Kansas Western Horseman Association, Great Bend Saddle Club and attended United Methodist Church in Larned.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Karen Clemons of Gooding, Idaho and Kayla Maddy of Rozel; two brothers, Terrance Maddy of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Marrell Maddy of Lincoln, Neb.; one sister Gloria Sanborn of Lincoln; one grandchild and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned, with Rev. Charles Grant officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Monday at the chapel. Memorials are suggested to Darrell Maddy Memorial Fund in care of the mortuary.

Jerry Lee McCullough 1937-2004
OTTAWA — Jerry Lee McCullough, 67, died March 2 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. He was born Jan. 5, 1937, at Paola, the son of the late Floyd McCullough and Alice Fulks McCullough. He was raised in Ottawa. After college, he moved to Great Bend, where he lived until moving back to Ottawa in 1984.
Jerry graduated from Ottawa High School. He also received his bachelor of arts degree from Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia.
Jerry was a junior high school speech, debate, and forensics teacher for USD 428 of Great Bend, retiring in 1984.
He is survived by his mother, Alice E. Fulks McCullough of Ottawa; one niece, Connie McCullough of Overland Park; one nephew, Kurt McCullough of Kansas City; one great-niece, Courtney Cross of Overland Park; and two great-nephews, Cole Cross of Overland Park and Kyle McCullough of Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Raymond McCullough, and one brother, Raymond “Toby” McCullough.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dengel and Son Mortuary with the Rev. Clyde Greisen officiating. McCullough will lie in state after 5 p.m. at the funeral home until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Highland cemetery in Ottawa. The family suggests memorials to the Ottawa Library, in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.

Orthella ‘Betty’ Boyer 1928-2004
Orthella “Betty” Boyer, 76, of Great Bend, died March 3 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Jan. 29, 1928, at Larned, the daughter of Troy D. and Verna Sufficool Means. She married Robert Boyer Sept. 3, 1947, at Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend, she was a waitress.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Linda Lee Schartz of Grove, Okla., and Debra Fletcher of Great Bend; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Means.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Great Bend City cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center of Great Bend, in care of Charter Funerals of Great Bend.

Perry Dunn 1908-2004
HOISINGTON — Perry Dunn, 96, died March 3 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. He was born Jan. 4, 1908, at Hoisington, the son of Charles E. and Mary Ann Monroe Dum. He was a 1927 graduate of Hoisington High School and attended Oklahoma University and Fort Hays State University. He married Martha Strong June 24, 1934, at Pratt. She died Nov. 21, 1993. A lifetime resident of Hoisington, he was a retired conductor of Missouri Pacific Railroad and an original member of the Kansas Highway Patrol, opening the first office in Great Bend in 1936.
Dunn was a member of First United Methodist Church and a 70-year plus member of Masonic Lodge 331 AF&AM, both of Hoisington; former member of Hoisington Lions Club and Elks Lodge of Great Bend; and was a founding member and former president of Hoisington Gun Club. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing well into his 80s.
Survivors include one daughter, Martha O’Rourke Simpson and husband Larry of Toms River, N.J.; and two grandchildren, Martha “Matty” O’Rourke of Toms River and Brian O’Rourke of Oakland, Calif. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Dunn and Bill Dunn; and one sister, Viletta Klemp.
Graveside service with Masonic Rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hoisington Cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Flanders officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday, all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Memorials are suggested to Clara Barton Foundation or the church, both in care of the funeral home.

Walter D. Wilson 1925-2004
WICHITA — Walter D. Wilson, 78, died Feb. 22. He was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Caney, Okla., the son of Herbert and Elva Sullivan Wilson. A resident of Wichita, formerly of Great Bend, he was retired owner of Bewal Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Madeline, of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Karen Wilson of Dallas, Texas, Richard and Linda Wilson of Haysville, Craig and Peggy Wilson of Fort Worth, Texas, and James Wilson of Wichita; two sisters, Dorotha Reed of Crown Point, Ind., and Marva Lea Moore of Brazoria, Texas; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Feb. 25 at Central Avenue United Methodist Church in Wichita. Burial was at Sunnyside cemetery in Caney. Memorials are suggested to the church, 4920 West Central, Wichita, KS 67212.

Herman Joe Anderson 1927-2004
ALBERT — Herman Joe Anderson, 76, died March 2 at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born Aug. 29, 1927, at Albert, the son of Joseph W. and Rosa M. Dirks Anderson. He married Billie Jo Thackeray Dec. 27, 1963, at Great Bend. She died Nov. 13, 1989. A resident of Albert, he worked for Natural Gas Pipeline for 30 years until his retirement, and was a lifetime farmer.
Anderson was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a past volunteer for the Albert Fire Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War and earning the Korean Medal Bronze Service Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan) and the Purple Heart Medal.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Marie Zorn of Great Bend; one stepdaughter, Deborah K. Wedd of Radium; one sister, Lavonne Quinn of Wichita; three grandchildren, Gabriel Zorn, Matthew Zorn and Donald Wedd; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Anderson and Lavern Anderson.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at Charter Funerals Chapel in Great Bend with the Rev. John Wiker officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend cemetery with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to the Albert Volunteer Fire Department, in care of the funeral home.

Donald H. Donecker 1934-2004
CLAFLIN — Donald H. Donecker, 69, died March 2 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born Aug. 3, 1934, at McCracken, the son of Harry Carl and Goldie Belleville Donecker. He married Carolyn Drews Oct. 14, 1956, at Claflin. A resident of Claflin since 1976, coming from Great Bend, he was a plant manager at Rice Engineering, retiring in 1992.
Donecker was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Claflin.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Kevin Donecker and Craig Donecker, both of Claflin; one daughter, Cherlyn Maier of Claflin; one brother, Lewis “Hap” Donecker of Great Bend; one sister, Ruth Dubb of Security, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Jeffery, Ashlee, Aaron, Aimee, Rebecca, Andrew, Julie and Matthew; and one great-grandchild, Philip. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Donecker and Dale Donecker; and one sister, Ruby Bumgardner.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. John Sharp officiating. Burial will be at Claflin Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, both at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.
