WILLIS C. DOKOS PAOLA - Willis C. Dokos, 77, Fontana, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at the Miami County Medical Center in Paola. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Paola. He was born Sept. 25, 1923, at Brigham City, Utah, to Spiros "Sam" and Elva (Christoffersen) Dokos. He grew up in Brigham City, later moving to Kansas City, Mo., then to Fontana and Osawatomie. He served in World War II. He then ran a gas station in Ogden, and then worked for General Motors in Kansas City, retiring in 1978. He married Ruby Edith Mindrup on May 27, 1951. She survives. He is survived by four sons, Paul Willis Dokos, Fontana; David Allen Dokos, Garden City, Mo.; John Robert Dokos, Olathe; and Andrew Chris Dokos, Fontana; two daughters, Estelle Marie Burton, Pickerington, Ohio, and Theckla Anna Greenhalgh, Olathe; two brothers, Sam Dokos, Willard, Utah; James Dokos, San Marcos, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Dixon, Bountiful, Utah; JoAnna Butler, Salt Lake City; and 27 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three grandchildren. His body will lie in state from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial at Beagle cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be sent to the Kidney Foundation.

PAUL H. BENNETT
Paul H. Bennett, 77, Garnett, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kincaid-Selma United Methodsist Church, Kincaid.
Family will meet with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett.

DAVID PHILLIPPI
David Allan Phillippi passed away Oct. 15, 2006, in his home surrounded by family, his greatest love. Dave was born Nov. 12, 1936, to Joel and Frances Hussey Phillippi. He grew up in Bronson and attended Ottawa University on a football scholarship. He graduated from Pittsburg State University with biology and teaching degrees, then earned his master of science degree from Oklahoma State University on a National Science Foundation grant. Dave taught science and coached sports for 28 years. After retiring from public education, he worked for the federal EPA for 20 years, retiring in June, 2004. Dave is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Nelson Phillippi, formerly of Pomona; daughter Teresa Mallare and husband Ron, Leawood; son Jeff Phillippi and wife Denise, Olathe; six wonderful grandchildren, Megan, Alexandra and Nicholas Mallare and Caleb, Logan and Jacob Phillippi; brother Sam Phillippi, Mesquite, Texas; sister Virginia Aubert, LaHarpe; brother-in-laws, Ralph and Bernard Nelson, both of Kansas City and many nieces and nephews. Dave lived what he said he believed -- the true measure of any man. He displayed personal courage and inner conviction to always act honorably. May the lives he touched be a testament to the effort he put forth. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 143rd and Blackbob streets, Olathe, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The family suggests contributions to Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Parkway, Suite 300, Kansas City, Mo. 64114 or Gift of Life Transplant House, 705 Second St. SW, Rochester MN 55902.

HAROLD SEELE
Harold C. Seele, 81, Baldwin City, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence. He was born Feb. 8, 1925, in the Willow Springs Township to Henry G. and Hulda M. (Schwarz) Seele. He grew up and attended schools in the Willow Springs Township and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1943. He married Rose M. (Gorney) Feb. 4, 1989, at the St. John's United Church of Christ in Worden. They shared more than 17 years of marriage. She survives. He was a lifelong farmer. He worked for the Farmer's Co-Op Association for 23 years and retired in 1987. He continued to farm until December of 2005 when he and his wife moved into Baldwin City. He enjoyed cutting wood, fixing fence, loading cattle and also spending time with family and friends. He was a former member and trustee of the St. John's Church of Christ, a current member and former trustee of the Worden United Methodist Church, former board member of the Willow Springs Township Board and a former board member on the Farmers Home Administration. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Walter Seele, and one step-son, John Wasson. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Seele and his wife, Janet, Baldwin City; Danny Seele and his wife, Anna, Burlingame; and one step-son, David Wasson and his wife, Michelle, Clearview City; two brothers, Alvin and Olin Seele, both of Johnstown, Colo.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the new Worden United Methodist Church in Worden. Interment will follow at the St. John's cemetery near Worden. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the new Worden United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Worden United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Diabetes Association and sent in care of the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.

CARL F. EMAN
OXFORD, NEB. -- Carl F. "Putt" Eman, 84, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Neb. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Neb. Cremation will take place and a private family inurnment will be in the Oxford cemetery at a later date. He was born May 15, 1922, at Oxford, to Oscar and Bessie (Shields) Eman. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1940. He worked for the United States Postal Service as postmaster. Carl was a member of the United States Army. He married Virginia Flynn on August 5, 1951. She survives. Survivors include his children, Geraldine Amen, Oxford, Neb.; Carla Bienhoff, Ottawa; Glenn Eman, Yokosuka, Japan; and Virgil Eman, Oxford, Neb.; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harley Eman; and a sister in infancy. Friends may pay their respects from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m Sunday at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford where the family will meet with friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.

JOANN GRIMES
RANTOUL -- Joann C. (Rasa) Grimes, 64, Rantoul, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at the Ruhamah Baptist Church, Rantoul. She was born July 2, 1942, at Florence, Mo., to Benenet and Opal (Nolting) Rasa. She graduated from the Stover High School at Stover, Mo., in 1960. She married Gene L. Grimes Sept. 3, 1961, in Florence, Mo. They shared more than 45 years of marriage. He survives. They lived in Kansas City and De Soto before moving to Rantoul in 1973. She worked for Platner Industry and later for King Radio as an assembler. She also worked for Puritan Bennett in Lenexa. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working with Gene on the farm. She was a member of the Ruhamah Baptist Church, Rantoul. She enjoyed caring for her dogs, reading and traveling. Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Sohn, Kansas City; sister-in-law, Jan Rutherford and her husband, Ron, Stover, Mo.; aunts, Edna Rehmer and Delores Nolting both of Stover, Mo.; an uncle, Creton Nolting and his wife, Betty of Shawnee; several nieces; nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Rasa. Burial will follow the services at the Ruhamah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or to Ruhamah Baptist Church and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa KS 66067.

KARON SUE LONDON
WEAUBLEAU, MO. -- Karon Sue London, 56, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Mo. She was born Feb. 7, 1950 to Norma and Dale O'Hara, Moran. She is survived by her husband, Jack London; parents, Norma and Dale O'Hara, Ottawa; daughter, Tasha Kneller, Ottawa; daughter, Karmin Mecher, Weaubleau, Mo.; brother, Larry O'Hara, Topeka; and three granddaughters. She was preceded in death by sisters, Janet and Lanita. Burial will be in Weaubleau, Mo.

BERTHA NOKES ELLINGTON
RICHMOND -- Bertha A. Nokes Ellington, 101, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at Richmond HealthCare and Rehab. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the First United Methodist Church, Garnett. She was born May 2, 1905, at Welda to John Thomas and Julia Ann (Breese) Johnson. She graduated from Welda High School in 1923. She was a member of the Welda United Methodist Church and later the Garnett United Methodist Church. She was a member of UMW. She was a homemaker. She married Orville C. Nokes in 1925 at Garnett. He preceded her in death. She married Carl Ellington in 1978. He preceded her in death. Survivors include son, Larry Nokes and his wife Deborah, Pittsburg; daughters, Lorna Brecheison and husband Keith, Jean, Nev., Ann Osborn and husband Glenn, Topeka, and Janette Mullins, Olathe; daughters-in-law, Mahlene Nokes, Tonganoxie, and Helen Nokes, Pampa, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Duane and Dwight Nokes; grandson, Ronnie Nokes; two sisters and five brothers. Burial will be at Welda Cemetery, Welda. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Welda United Methodist Church or the Garnett United Methodist Church. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett, is in charge of arrangements.

HOWARD BROWN
Howard H. Brown, 91, Ottawa, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. Graveside services and burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa. A full obituary will follow.

JENNIE KRANER
FRONTENAC -- Jennie Kraner, 88, Frontenac, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at the Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center, Pittsburg. Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg. She was born June 25, 1918, in Yale to Joe and Mary Tersiner. She was a homemaker. She married Karl Kraner, Nov. 13, 1937, in Carthage, Mo. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Karl Kraner, Frontenac; daughters, Pam Butz, Fort Scott, Marilyn Cussimanio, Cherokee, and Susan Kraner, Lenexa; brothers Joe Tersiner, Phoenix, Ariz., and August Tersiner, Ottawa; 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by brothers Leo and Louie Tersiner and sisters Josephine Christman, Bertha Strukel, Annie Costello and an infant sister.

DAVID JONES
David W. Jones, 45, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe. A graveside service and burial were Saturday at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. He was born July 19, 1961, at Ottawa to Paul A. and Joyce L. (Dodds) Jones. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1979. He attended iron worker school and became a licensed welder. He moved to Arizona and attended the Western School of Horse Shoeing. He worked for the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station as an iron worker. Survivors include his parents; brothers, Casey Jones, Princeton and Justin Jones, Ottawa; sisters, Teresa Bartak, Overland Park, Sandy Connor, Topeka and Cindy Guyett, Ottawa; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Alice Dodds, Deck and Mary Jones; an uncle, Ralph E. Jones; and a sister, Melissa (Jones) Davis. Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa, was in charge of arrangements.
