Wilma J. Scott
(Nov. 16, 1933 - April 14, 2001)

Wilma J. Scott, 67, a native of Osawatomie and former Paola resident, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, in her home in Ottawa.
She was born Nov. 16, 1933, in Osawatomie, the daughter of Ripply R. and Frances Borvicka Coulter.
The family moved from Paola to Ottawa, where she attended Ottawa High School with the class of 1951.
She and Joe Fred Scott were married Dec. 31, 1980, in Ottawa.
Surviving are her husband, Joe Scott; her mother, Frances Coulter of Ottawa; three children; four stepchildren; two brothers; two sisters; eight grandchildren; and 11 stepgrandchildren.
Graveside services were Tuesday at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.
Memorials may be made to the Franklin County Cancer Foundation, Midland Hospice or Meals on Wheels in care of Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa.

Ila Mae Trumbly
(May 15, 1927 - April 17, 2001)

Ila Mae Trumbly, 73, a lifelong Paola-area resident, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Spring Hill.
She was born May 15, 1927, in Richland Township in rural Paola, the daughter of George William and Mildred Leah Bethurum Phillips. The family lived on a farm and she attended Mount Pleasant rural school. When she was a teen-ager, the family moved into Paola, where she attended and graduated from Paola High School in 1945.
She married Donald J. Trumbly Feb. 9, 1951, in Huntsville, Ark. After their marriage, they made their home in Paola, where they raised their family of 11 children.
Mrs. Trumbly worked at the Miami County assessor's office, Miami County clerk's office and the Miami County Extension Service office before retiring in 1980 because of health reasons.
She was involved with the Head Start program in Paola for several years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Paola.
Mrs. Trumbly enjoyed working with crafts but most of all enjoyed raising her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Donald J. Trumbly of the home; seven sons, John Trumbly and Don Trumbly Jr. of Paola, Jim Trumbly of Osawatomie, Steve Trumbly and Francis Trumbly of Greeley, Jeff Trumbly of Grandview, Mo., and Bob Trumbly of Olathe; four daughters, Marcia Thompson of Martinsburg, W.V., Donna Ritter of Lane, Laura Dussold of Olathe and Linda King of Victoria, Texas; 26 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday in Wilson and Son Funeral Home in Paola. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Paola.
Contributions may be made to the Ila Mae Trumbly Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS 66071.

Harley Dean Holt
(Dec. 4, 1937 - June 13, 2001)

Harley Dean Holt, 63, Drexel, Mo., died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in Cass Medical Center in Harrisonville, Mo.
He was born Dec. 4, 1937, in Bucklin, Mo., the son of William and Georgia Garrow Holt.
He married Marlene Taylor June 20, 1981, in Notch, Mo. They became the parents of two sons.
Mr. Holt worked as a machine operator for several manufacturing companies.
His passion was music. He played guitar and often worked as a musician to earn extra money.
His parents and a brother, Henry Holt, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Marlene Holt of the home; three sons, Jarrold Holt and Derek Holt, both of the home, and David Holt of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Nancy Miller of Independence, Mo., and Lorraine White of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Rollie Holt of Independence, Mo.; two stepbrothers, Bill Noah of Kansas City, Mo., and Lawrence Noah of Dunnegan, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation was Friday in the Runyan Chapel in Drexel. Mr. Holt was cremated.

Jennie Pearl Freeman
(May 11, 1994 - June 12, 2001)

Jennie Pearl Freeman, 7, a former Osawatomie resident, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in her home in Olathe.
She was born May 11, 1994, in Olathe, the daughter of Charles S. and Brandy S. Freeman. She lived in the Osawatomie area with her mother until July 16, 2000, when she was involved in a vehicle accident that left her paralyzed. After a six-month recovery in the hospital, she was released, and they moved to Olathe.
Jennie attended Countryside Elementary School in Olathe and had just finished kindergarten and was looking forward to the first grade. One of her most memorable moments this year in school was being involved in a school fund-raiser in which she raised the most money.
She was a member of the Lenexa Christian Center in Olathe and enjoyed attending children's church.
Jennie was known for her wonderful personality and sense of humor, which drew people to her. She enjoyed drawing, taking trips to the zoo and picking on her grandfather.
Preceding her in death were her grandmother, Laurie Ritch, and three great-grandparents, William Scott, Charles Douglas and Reinhart Minden.
Survivors include her parents, Brandy Freeman of the home and Charles Freeman II of Paola; her grandparents, Verlyn and Bev Scott of Paola, Sarah Mead of Osawatomie, Charles Freeman, and his wife, Beverly, of Paola, and her adopted grandfather, Glenn Minden of Paola; and her great-grandparents, Arnold and Juanita Lewis of Nevada, Mo., Sylva Scott of Ottawa, Nadine Minden of Paola and Cecilia Douglas.
Services were Friday in Wilson and Son Funeral Home in Paola. Burial was in Paola Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Jennie Pearl Freeman Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS 66071.

Sharon Ann Burton
(Aug. 21, 1944 - June 18, 2001)

Sharon Ann Burton, 56, Mound City, died Monday, June 18, 2001, in St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
The daughter of Joseph and Margaret Nanneman, she was born Aug. 21, 1944, in Wien, Mo. She and James W. Burton were married June 21, 1986, near Louisburg. They made their home in Louisburg for 11 years before moving to Mound City.
She was a bookkeeper for Complete Roofing in Merriam before retiring.
Her memberships included Saint Mary of the Angels Catholic Church of Wien, Mo., Ladies Golf Association of Sugar Valley and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of N. Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Burton attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mound City.
Her hobbies were golf and flower gardening.
Those preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Charles Nanneman.
Survivors include her husband, James W. Burton of the home; four sons, Mark Behrman of Odessa, Mo., Mike Behrman of Blue Springs, Mo., Gary Behrman of Olathe and Joe Behrman of Overland Park; two stepsons, Mike Burton and Jeff Burton, both of Louisburg; a stepdaughter, Shanna Harper of La Cygne; two brothers, Roy Nanneman of N. Kansas City and Vern Nanneman of Lake Nehai, Mo.; three sisters, Alverta Cooper of N. Kansas City and Marie Felz and Charlene Gear, both of Kansas City, Mo.; and 16 grandchildren.
Services were Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mound City. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements were cared for by Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Mound City.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.

Lucile Robinson
(Aug. 10, 1911 - July 17, 2001)

Lucile Robinson, 89, Garnett, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001, in Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
Born Aug. 10, 1911, in Grant County, Kan., she was a daughter of Thomas Walter and Mary Luvada Scoville Pudge. She was the youngest of their 10 children. She lived in the Lone Elm and Kincaid communities from 1934 until moving to Garnett in 1952.
She and Wilbur Keplinger were married July 4, 1928, in Grant County. He died in 1965.
She and Otis Robinson were married May 11, 1974. He survives, of the home. They delivered Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker. She also worked on the family farm and in her first husband's gas station. She also worked at a garment factory and as a nurse's aide in the hospital nursery.
Mrs. Robinson was an avid gardener and also raised chickens. She was a seamstress and known as a good cook. She volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, a 4-H leader, as a member of the hospital auxiliary and with the American Cancer Society. She was an active member of various clubs and was home service chairman for the Anderson County Chapter of the Red Cross.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Garnett were she served as elder, sang in the choir and was active in the women's group.
Others preceding her in death included four brothers and five sisters.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, Otis Robinson, are a son, Renny Keplinger of Hilltop Lakes, Texas; a daughter, Dena Sue Keplinger Schone of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a stepson, Harold Robinson of Blackwell, Okla.; nine stepgrandchildren; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday in Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Garnett, followed by burial in Garnett Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the church.
