LESTER L. PENNINGTON
Lester L. Pennington, 75, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at his home in Liberal.
He was born Feb. 17, 1925, to E.A. and Clara (Childers) Pennington in Liberal.
He married Patricia Ann Shea Aug. 20, 1955, in Great Bend.
She survives.
He was a member of the Central Christian Church in Liberal.
He was also a member of Masonic Lodge, Shrine, American Legion, VFW and Elk's Lodge, all of Liberal.
He retired in 1990 as a pipeliner and electrician for Jayhawk Pipeline.
He served in the U.S. Marines, 6th Division, as a tank driver in the Pacific Theater during WWII.
Other survivors include three sons, David Pennington and wife, Debbie, Fairway, Dan Pennington and wife, Pam, Lawrence, and Tim Pennington and wife, Lisa, Lebanon, Ohio; one daughter, Mary Rushing and husband, Tom, Kingwood, Texas; one brother, Ernest Pennington, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; six sisters, Mabel Grusing, Lakin, Elsie Fisher, Arkansas City, Ruth Fawcett, Liberal, Esther Spaulding, Liberal, Nina Bailey, Independence, Mo., and Mary Few, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren, Cris Pennington, Andrew Pennington, Courtney Pennington, Emma Pennington, Crosby Pennington, Nell Pennington, Matthew Rushing and Shelby Rushing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jim Pennington.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Southern
Baptist Church with the Revs. Spencer Powers and David Woods presiding.
Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m to 9 p.m. Friday.
Family will greet friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Kitch Funeral Home.

ALBERT BERRY SCROGGINS
ULYSSES -- Albert Berry Scroggins, 84, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, in Ulysses.
He was born June 7, 1916, to Grandville Harrison and Ida May (Insco) Scroggins in Benton County, Ark..
He married Deris Lorene Crawshaw Dec. 28, 1937, in Independence. She died June 10, 1998.
He was a resident of Ulysses since 1938.
He was employed at Dekalb Seed and retired in 1981.
His hobbies included farming, fishing and traveling.
He also helped gather clothes for the Indian Missions Project in South Dakota.
Survivors include one son, Arthur Scroggins, Chicago; three daughters, Irene Hitchcock, Ulysses, Iva Hindman, Satanta, and Ilene Pierce, Las Cruces, N.M.; and 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the College Street Baptist Church, Ulysses, with the Rev. Sam Bynum presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

ROBERT LEE LYBARGER
ELKHART -- Robert Lee Lybarger, 74, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo.
He was born July 16, 1926, to Lee Marion and Bessie Minnie (Hoffman) Lybarger in Independence.
He married Leota Warner Nov. 18, 1944, in Elk City, Okla. She survives.
He was a resident of Elkhart since 1949.
He was a custom harvester and in later years was a gate keeper of the Army Corporation of Engineers in Table Rock Lake, Mo.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elkhart.
Other survivors include one son, Thomas Lynn Lybarger, Elkhart; three daughters, Rebecca Jane Johnson, Amarillo, Texas, Patricia LeAnn Clark, Arkansas City, and Susan Kay Bennett, Edmond, Okla.; one brother, William Russell Lybarger, Wichita; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Elkhart, with the Rev. Dewey Harris presiding.
Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Harrell Funeral Home in Elkhart.

HAROLD HOY
FALLBROOK, Calif. -- Harold Hoy, 93, died Friday, July 7, 2000, in Fallbrook.
He was born Oct. 6, 1906, to Thomas and Alice Hoy.
He married Violette Hoy in 1927 in Perryton, Texas.
She survives.
He lived in Liberal from 1912 to 1927.
He was a member of the Champion Southwest Kansas football team of 1927.
Other survivors include one son, LaVerne Hoy, Oregon; one daughter, Billie Jean Stapp, Fallbrook; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at Rosehills Memorial Park, Whittier, Calif., with his nephew, Robert McCurdy, presiding.
TROY LEE STUMP
TEXHOMA, Okla. -- Troy Lee Stump, 46, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, in Amarillo, Texas.
He was born March 4, 1954, to Arnold and Ruth (Ellis) Stump in Guymon, Okla.
He spent his childhood in Texhoma and after graduating from Texhoma High School, he spent four years in the Navy.
He was a county public weigher for grain elevators in Amarillo.
Survivors include his parents of Texhoma; fours sisters, Lu Deane Neely, Fort Worth, Texas, Vicki Wilson, Guymon, Ronna Stump, Liberal, and Paula Eslinger, Texhoma; four brothers, Duane Stump, Sand Springs, Okla., Bob Stump, Guymon, Ricky Stump, Hazel, Texas, and Monte Stump, Texhoma.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Stump.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, Texhoma, with the Rev. Terry Davidson presiding.
Burial will follow at the Texhoma Cemetery, Texhoma, under the direction of Dawson-Welch Funeral Home in Texhoma.
