Mrs. Lucille Lawson Thacker, 94, Burgin, widow of Edward Harry Thacker, died Sunday, March 19, 2006 at her residence. Born October 2, 1911 in New Hope, KY., she was the daughter of the late David Dixon and Stella Smith Lawson. She attended the Mt. Moriah School, and was a graduate of Burgin High School. She was a homemaker, a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church, W.M.U., an avid reader; she enjoyed sewing, gardening, and flowers.

Survivors include her two sons: Jerry (Janet) Thacker of Burgin, and Ed (Dorothy) Thacker of Fairview, TX. One daughter Ann Thacker Hicks of Burgin, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Neal and Bro. Lester Tirey officiating. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Jeremy Thacker, Eddie Thacker, Bob Hronek, Tracey Edwards, James Teater, and Brian Hicks serving as pallbearers. Granddaughters and Great Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22 and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday, March 23 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

He was the son of the late Ray Pinkston and Maxine Ashton Pinkston of Harrodsburg. He is also survived by three daughters: Bridget Moore of Lafayette, IN., Jennifer Pinkston also of Lafayette, IN., and Cheyene Pinkston of Danville. Three brothers: Charles Pinkston of Mackville, Earl Pinkston of Danville, and Steve Pinkston of Harrodsburg. Four grandchildren also survive.

He was a former brick mason and he enjoyed fishing.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley and Bro. Steven James.

Larry Hume, Gary Hume, Barry Warren, David Proctor, Daniel Wesley, John Arns, and Vernon Lender will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Warford, Tony Warford, Aaron Warford, Derrick Cochran, and Herbert Ashton.

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

William Leroy Bast, 64, of Harrodsburg, husband of Joyce Ann Bast, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born May 15, 1941 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William Jennings and Bessie Smith Bast. He was a self employed Drywaller for Bast Drywall. He loved classic cars, listening to music, camping, boating, stock car racing, and spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, Leroy is survived by his daughter Tammy Behn of Salvisa, one son Eddie Bast of Harrodsburg, three brothers: Donnie Bast of Harrodsburg, Connie Bast of Frankfort, and Tony Bast of Salvisa. Three sisters: Betty Olszanski of California, Anita Bottoms of Harrodsburg, and Judy Hurst also of Harrodsburg. One grandson Patrick Bast, one step-grandson Adam Curtsinger, two step-great grandchildren Zachary and Cole Curtsinger all of Harrodsburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by one brother Danny Bast and three sisters: Nora Patterson, Imogene Bast, and Joyce Bast.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Anthony Bast, Donovan Bast, Doug Bast, Eric Bast, Scott Hurst, Brian Hurst, Brad Hurst, and Larry Merriman serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Mobley, Troy Rogers, Tim Rogers, John David Rogers, Ralph Rogers, III, Rita Collier and Wayne Collier.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 7:00 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Bradshaw, Lilli Mae Rousey

She was the widow of James Ison Bradshaw. The daughter of the late Roy and Lena Rousey. Survivors include: two daughters: Linda Cannon and her husband, Ricky, Hustonville and Tina Rice, Harrodsburg; two sons: Jimmy Bradshaw, and his wife, Jeleta, Brodhead and Garry Bradshaw and his wife Lana, Harrodsburg; one brother: Tom Rousey, Junction City; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was a retired Boyle County School Bus Driver, and a member of the Junction City Baptist Church. She was a Mary Kay and a Longaberger Consultant.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home, with Bro. Keith Willoughby and Ronnie Ping officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with David Yates, Paul Wayne Yates, Joe Fletcher, Frankie Rousey, Ricky Henry, Bryan Rousey and Mark Rousey serving as pallbearers and grandsons, Andie Cannon, Elliot Cannon, Clay Cannon, Kevin Rice, Kyle Rice and Justin Bradshaw serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

She was the wife of James W. Davis and the daughter of the late Lee and Ethel Young Trower. Additional survivors besides her husband include: two daughters: Vickie Jones and Sandy Barnett, both of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters: Allene Gordon of Danville and Jean Pittman of Clarksville, Indiana; one granddaughter: Shelley Diop, and her husband, Hamet, of Tucson, Arizona and one great-granddaughter: Kyra Fatim Diop. She was preceded in death by one brother: George Trower.

She attended Fellowship Baptist Church and was a receptionist for Physicians Exchange of Louisville.

He was the son of Billy L and Madeline M. Hendershot Word of Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania. Additional survivors besides his parents include: one brother: Jeffrey G. Ward and his wife Becky of Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by one brother: Steven Carl Ward.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hancock Ward and was a self employed horse trainer in Lexington.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial & Tribute Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.

Born December 6, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late John S. and Marie Fussell Ward, Sr. He was retired from Aetna Insurance Company. He was a member of the Carolina Kennel Club and a judge for the American Kennel Club. He was a member of the Madison United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Virginia Vance Ward, Madison, North Carolina; one son: John S. Ward, III, Pocatello, Idaho; two daughters: Marie Ward, Napierville, Illinois and Melissa Harned, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; one brother: Benjamin O. Ward, Atlanta, Georgia and three grandchildren: Allie Ward, Savanna Ward and Aubrie Ward.

He was preceded in death by one brother: Richard F. Ward.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2006 at Madison United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Ramsey officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, at the Ray Funeral Home in Madison, North Carolina. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County or their Building Campaign, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, North Carolina 27375.

He was the son of the late Tom and Deema Hill Perkins. Survivors include his caretakers, Homer and Debra White of Harrodsburg and two sisters: Nancy Crooks of Florida and Imogene Hensley of Ohio and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Dexter Perkins, L.P. Perkins and Harold Perkins and two sisters.

He was a United States Army Veteran.

He was a former worker of the Clay Watts Stockyards and a member of the Mercer County Senior Citizens and enjoyed fishing and farming.

Additional survivors besides her husband include: one daughter: Lavon Brown, Harrodsburg, three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Arvonna Smith; three brothers: Harley Simpson, Marshall Simpson, and Bobby Simpson and two sisters: Genetta Lewis and Floy Benton.

She was a homemaker and a member of Cornishville Baptist Church. She had been a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Red Hat Society of Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Survivors include one daughter: Doris Ellen Rosel of Mercer County; one brother: Walter Kinder of Versailles; four sisters: Jewel Satterly of Louisville, Nellie Turner of Harrodsburg, Elizabeth Tatum of Missouri, and Ann Doyle of Florida; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Georgia Kinder and Katherine Smith and seven brothers: Roy Kinder, Thomas Kinder, Ike Kinder, Hollie Kinder, James Kinder, Dutch Kinder and J.S. Kinder.

She was a homemaker and seamstress and a member of the Wilmore Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by: one sister, Elizabeth Heckman of Burgin, four sons, Marion Ray (Sandra) of Mercer County, John (Sue) of Shelbyville, KY, Mike (Linda) of Salvisa and Larry (Rita) of Harrodsburg; ten grandchildren, Aimee (Chris) McGinnis, Leslie Inman, Leonna (Brian) Lay, Wes (Tina) Inman, James (Liz) Inman, Eric Inman, Nicki (Rich) Mundell, Lyndsey Inman, Ann Inman, and Brian Inman; six great grandchildren: Nathan, Andrew and Ross Patrick McGinnis, Stetson and Alyssa Inman, and Meghan Mundell; and one step-great-grandchild, Lori Mundell; and four nieces and one nephew.

He was a veteran of World War II.

He was a local real estate broker, developer and farmer, and the former owner of Farmers Elevator, Inc. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He was active in the Gideons organization. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a Mason, and a former president of the Mercer County Farm Bureau.
