WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Christopher W. Tanner, 39, of Washington, D.C., died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Washington Hospital Center. The Daviess County native was a lead business systems analyst for Capital Care Insurance Co., a member of First Baptist Church in Owensboro and a graduate of Owensboro High School and Western Kentucky University.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Bibb of Macon, Ga., and Ann Cates Tanner of Owensboro; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Abner B. Cates of Henderson; a brother, Patrick Tanner of Owensboro; and two sisters, Pamela Hardy of Port Orange, Fla., and Darby Rickard of Medina, Ohio.

Services are private. There is no visitation. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Kentucky Wesleyan College, 3000 Frederica St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Joe Tanner

Joe Tanner, 66, of 1721 Mohawk Drive, Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Owensboro native retired from State Farm Insurance after 31 years of service as an agent. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. He was past board chairman and current treasurer of Wendell Foster Center, where he had been a board member for 42 years.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Pat Tanner; a son, Mike Tanner of Lexington; a daughter, Marsha Strein of Lexington; four grandchildren; and his mother, Dorothy Miller of Owensboro.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Wendell Foster Center Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1668, Owensboro, KY 42302-1668.

Linda Nell Young

MANNSVILLE -- Linda Nell Young, 59, of Mannsville died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Norton-Audubon Hospital in Louisville. The Breckinridge County native was a housewife and member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Young; two sons, Harold Young Jr. of Mannsville and Bill Driskell of Louisville; a daughter, Alicia Hart of Hudson; a grandchild; six brothers, Wallace Driskell Jr. of Indianapolis, Venus Driskell of Hardinsburg, Larry Driskell of Shepherdsville; Jimmy Driskell of Louisville; David Driskell of Corydon, Ind., and Dale Driskell of Harned; and a sister, Oretha Mercer of Hardinsburg.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church in Hardinsburg. Burial will be in Ivy Hill cemetery in Hardinsburg. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg.

Ernest Otto Keown Jr.

HAWESVILLE -- Ernest Otto Keown Jr., 69, of Jesup, Ga., formerly of Hawesville, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup. The Hawesville native retired in 1993 as a right-of-way agent with the Kentucky Department of Transportation after 20 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 115 of Hawesville, a Kentucky Colonel and a Baptist.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Kevin Keown of Jesup; a daughter, Debra K. Hite of Bowling Green; five grandchildren; his parents, E. Otto and Julia Keown of Hawesville; a brother, Dennis Keown of Hawesville; a stepnephew; and a stepniece.

Services are at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hawesville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Serenity Hills cemetery in Hawesville. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport.

Leonard Eugene 'Gene' Masterson Sr.

Leonard Eugene "Gene" Masterson Sr., 61, of 2001 Cullen Ave., Owensboro, died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native retired from the Owensboro Sanitation Department, and was a Baptist, a Kentucky Colonel and an Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed cooking, collecting coins, miniature cars, playing pool, painting and music.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Joan Masterson; two sons, Clinton Ray Masterson of Evansville and Leonard Eugene Masterson Jr. of New Albany, Ind.; two daughters, Tracy Janice Prater of Owensboro and Shelly Lane of Utica; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Ray Masterson of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Charlotte Ann Norris

IRVINGTON -- Charlotte Ann Norris, 51, of Irvington died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. The Custer native was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, E.H. "Sonny" Norris Jr. of Irvington; a son, James Norris of Irvington; a daughter, Stephanie Norris of Irvington; a grandchild; her parents, H.J. "Dick" and Helen Milburn of Irvington; four brothers, Frank Milburn and Richard Milburn, both of Custer, and Howard Milburn and Randall Milburn, both of Big Spring; and two sisters, Carolyn Goatley of Custer and Brenda Kessinger of Ekron.

Services were Tuesday. Burial was in Cedar Hill cemetery in Irvington. Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington handled arrangements.

DRAKESBORO -- Grace Shelton, 78, of Drakesboro died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Jenny Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

Arrangements are pending at Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville.

Melvin Glover Jr.

Melvin Glover Jr., 80, of Philpot died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Middlesboro native retired from The Yarden Center as a salesman and was a member of Mount Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and collecting arrowheads. He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Connie Glover and Bonnie Glover.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Louise Gilmore Glover; a son, Danny Gene Glover of Owensboro; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Margaret Jackson of Bonita Springs, Fla., Arlie Ray of Maceo and Martha Boyle of Owensboro.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cumberland Presbyterian cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Mount Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Wilma Doris Massie

Wilma Doris Massie, 74, of 1324 Venable Ave., Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native was a member of First General Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Lewis Massie; a daughter, Lisa D. Massie of Owensboro; and a sister, Clarice Elliott of Owensboro.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First General Baptist Church Building Fund, 620 Maple Ave., Owensboro KY 42301.

Robert 'Pete' Willett

Robert "Pete" Willett, 86, of 8327 Hamilton Ferry Road, Owensboro, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Leisure Years Nursing Center. The Daviess County native was a farmer, a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and enjoyed raising roses and other flowers.

Survivors include several cousins.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Peter cemetery in Stanley. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
