Edsel Horne
Edsel Horne, age 75, of Inez passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 at his home. Born July 21, 1932 in Martin County, he was the son of the late Floyd and Janie Fitch Horne. He is survived by his wife, Shelby Delong Horne; two daughters, Rhonda (Russell) Gregory of Richmond and Carmen Coann Horne of Lexington; three brothers, Gene (June) Horne of Columbus, Gayle Horne and Gary (Lynn) Horne both of Inez; two sisters, Lois Horne and Joyce McBride both of Inez; three brother-in-laws, Doug Delong, Chet (Bea) Delong and Edgar (Bonnie) Blankenship; one grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Fitch cemetery at Inez. Friends may visit the funeral home from 5-10 PM Monday and until the time of service on Tuesday. Disabled American Veterans from Belfry will conduct Military Services following the funeral.

Daniel Oscar Sartin
Daniel Oscar Sartin, age 55, of Wayne, West Virginia passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008. Born September 3, 1952 in Mingo County, he was the son of the late Bill and Ila Brewer Sartin. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, John, Tommy and his twin brother David Sartin. Daniel is survived by his wife, Rosa Lee Jackson Sartin; one son, Danny Sartin, Jr. of Dunlow; one daughter, Michelle Harper of Dunlow; two step children, William Dagpin of Zanesville and Gerose Smith of Wayne; two brothers, Everett and Paul Sartin both of Dunlow; four sisters, Billy JoAnn Robinette of Comercial Point, Ohio, Evelyn Sue Spaulding of Crum, Ila Faye Crawford of Columbus and Debra Pauline Tullis of Westerville, Ohio; and three grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be 3 PM Tuesday at the Crum Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Murphy cemetery at East Kermit. Friends may visit the church after 12 PM Tuesday.

Terry McKinney, Jr.
Terry McKinney, Jr., age 47, of Old Rt. 3, Louisa passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008 at his home. Born January 10, 1961 in Cleveland, Ohio he was the son of Terry (Pete) McKinney and Nancy Ratcliff McKinney of Louisa; his wife, Brenda Marcum McKinney; one son, Casey McKinney of Louisa; one daughter, Jessica Isenhoward of Louisa; two brothers, Clark McKinney of Columbus and Barry McKinney of Louisa; and two grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the New Friendship United Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Family cemetery, Louisa. Friends may visit the church after 4 PM Monday, all day Tuesday and until the time of service on Wednesday. Michael Marcum and Kevin Davis will officiate.

Elisha Renee Fletcher
Elisha Renee Fletcher, age 15, of Inez passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008 at her home after an extended illness. Born July 18, 1992 in Louisa, she was the daughter of Jonah (Buddy) Fletcher and Gladys Stacy Fletcher. In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Morgan Fletcher; one sister, Kaitlyn Fletcher; her paternal grandfather, Jesse Fletcher; and her maternal grandparents, Haskel and Joyce Stacy. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Louise Fletcher. Funeral services will be 1 PM Saturday, June 21, 2008 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Fletcher Family cemetery at Tomahawk. Friends may visit the funeral home after 4PM Thursday and all day Friday. Willie Goble and Luther Fletcher will officiate.

Eva Howard
Eva Howard, age 91, of Prestonsburg passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2008. A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the family cemetery at Royalton, Kentucky in Magoffin County. There will be no visitation.

Drucilla Newsome
Drucilla Newsome, age 68, of Inez passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008 at her home. Born February 6, 1940 in Jackson, KY., she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Noble and Mary Short. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Wade Newsome; three brothers, Hiram, Alex and Robert Noble. She is survived by her husband, Ervin Newsome; one son, James Newsome of Inez; one daughter, Christina Harless of Inez; two sisters, Delilah Noble-Brown of Terre Haute, Indiana and Ann Lawson of Staffordsville, KY; and three grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be 1 PM Friday, June 27, 2008 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Family cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home from 5-10 PM Thursday. Robert Brown will officiate.

Kathleen Blanton
Kathleen Blanton, age 86, of Staffordsville passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville. Born May 21, 1922 in Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Holbrook and Sally Hamilton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hershell Blanton. Kathleen is survived by one son, Phillip Ray Blanton of Staffordsville; two daughters, Kay Castle of Sitka and Phyllis Shotts of Springfield, Ohio; two sisters, Eva Lee Lindsey of Zanesville, Ohio and Janet Sue VanHoose of Flatwoods, KY; five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Staffordsville Freewill Baptist Church with buiral to follow in the Church cemetery. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home after 5PM Monday and all day Tuesday. Doug Crider, Kenny Pelphrey and Jimmy Price will officiate.

William (Ruben) Spradlin
William (Ruben) Spradlin, age 76, of Leander passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008 at St. Joseph East in Lexington. Born August 25, 1931 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Manford and Sarah Jane Blair Spradlin. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Adams Spradlin; seven sons, William, Donald, Frank and Mike Spradlin all of Louisa, Ronald Spradlin of Thealka, Clarence Ray Mosley of West Virginia and Robert Burchett of Flat Gap; two daughters, Connie Conley and Teresa Diamond both of Louisa; two step daughters, Beth Spencer of Leander and Christy Whittaker of Arkansas; one sister, Della Jean Rapp of Ohio; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday at the Riceville Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Spradlin Family cemetery at Leander. Friends may visit the church after 6PM Sunday and all day Monday. Donald LeMaster and Joe Scott will officiate.

Tannie Lorene Honrine
Tannie Lorene Honrine, age 68, of Inez passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Highland Regional in Prestonsburg. Born May 27, 1940 in King, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey Lester Gordon and Edith Pratt Gordon. She is survived by her husband, Roger Honrine; step son, Roger Anthony Tighe of Denver, Colorado; five daughters, Patricia Lynn Sprinkle of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Glenda Ann Craig of Blountville, Tenn., Anita Ernestine Blanchard of Patterson, LA., Kristina Marie White of Wilmore, KY and Rebecca Michelle Honrine of Inez; one sister, Thelma Gaye Lawson of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; three brothers, Ronnie Gordon of Dobson, North Carolina, Marvin and Roger Gordon both of King, North Carolina; nine grandchildren and 1 great grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Warfield cemetery at Warfield. Friends may visit the funeral home after 5:00 PM Monday and until the time of service on Tuesday. Paul Crisp and Rick Osborne will officiate.

George Stacy, Jr.
George Stacy, Jr., age 75, of Inez passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Pikeville Medical Center. Born March 28, 1933 he was the son of the late George Stacy and Ada Porter Jude. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by twins, Earl and Pearl Stacy, two grandchildren, two brothers, Millard and Tan Stacy, two sisters, Hattie Stacy and Ethel Howard. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edna Jude Stacy; six daughters, Louellen Howell and Linda Kay Adams both of Warfield, Ruby Faye Moore of Louisa, Barbara Muncy and Bonnie Maynard both of Pilgrim and Dolly Stacy of Inez; four sons, George Johnny Stacy and Dallas Stacy both of Louisa, Donnie (Duck) Stacy of Inez, and James Stacy of Lovely; 34 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great great great grandchildren also survive. He was a member of the Antioch United Baptist Church and a retires coal miner. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, July 6, 2008 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son with burial to follow in the Stacy Family cemetery at Louisa. Friends may visit the funeral home after 5 PM Friday and all day Saturday. Darrell Damron, Richard Staton and Kenneth B. Jude will officate.

George Meade
George Meade, age 67, of Magnolia, Mississippi formerly of Whitehouse passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008. Born January 4, 1941 in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Willie and Anna Gordon Meade. He is survived by two sons, George Meade, Jr. and John Willie Meade both of Whitehouse; five brothers, Tommy Meade of Van Lear, Davis Meade of Magnolia, MS., Willie Meade of Whitehouse, Rick Meade of Chestnut and Jim Meade of La Camp, LA.; three sisters, Sarah Catherine Williamson of Whitehouse, Bobbie Vanhoose of Chestnut and Linda Wiley of Williamsport; and six grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, August 10, 2008 at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Wilson cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home after 4PM Saturday. Charlie Banks will officiate.
