Donald Ray Smith
Donald Ray Smith, age 74, of Inez passed away Thursday March 25, 2010 at his home. Born January 16, 1936 in Red Jacket, WV, he was the first born son of the late Frank and Adeline Spears Smith. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Smith; one son, Donald Smith Jr; and two brothers, Bobby and Jackie Lynn Smith. Surviving are two sons, Ronald Smith of Louisa and Timothy Smith of Inez; one daughter, Rebecca Clendening of Nashville, TN.; five brothers, Jimmy Smith of Inez, Billy Smith of Murfreesboro, TN, Hubert, Danny and Delmar Smith all of Columbus, Ohio, three sisters Wanda Sue Crum and Ruth Sartin both of Inez and Peggy Mills of Dayton, Ohio; and several Grandchildren also survive. Donald was a retired Brick mason and a member of the Bethel United Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 11:00 Am Sunday, March 28, 2010 in the Chapel of Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Inez, with Tim McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Kazee cemetery at Inez. Visitation will be from 6 to 10 PM Friday and 4 to 10 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Inez.

Ransom Hammond
Ransom Hammond, age 79, of Inez passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 at his home. Born September 11, 1930 in Martin County, he was teh son of the late Roscoe and Vashatie Mills Hammond. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Iva (Horn) Hammond; three brothers, Ervin, Leonard and Zeek Hammond; four sisters, Mary Hammond, Della Young, Rosie Dalton and Dose Jarrell. He is survived by one son, Eddie Joe (Joyce) Hammond of Inez; one brother, Bill Hammond of Inez; one sister, Leann of Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Crystal Wright, Jason Hammond, Tommy Hammond, Dustin Hammond, Elisha Hammond, Elizabeth Hammond and Billie Hammond.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Pack Bottom United Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Dalton Family cemetery at Turkey. Friends may visit the church after 2 PM Monday and all day Tuesday. Lonnie Ratliff and Dennis Hughes will officiate. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

Cecil Stacy
Cecil Stacy, age 79, of Warfield passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 at his home. Born January 25, 1931 in Martin County, he was the son of the late Robert and Rebecca (Davis) Stacy. He is survived by is wife, Vinnie (Jude) Stacy; eight sons, George and Jeff Stacy both of Whitehouse, James Stacy of Paintsville, Lacy, and John Stacy both of Warfield, Danny Stacy of Somerset, Billy Joe Stacy of Hager Hill and Jeffery Stacy of Debord; two daughters, Easter Staton of Warfield and Lillie Reed of Hode; two brothers, Freeman Stacy of Salyersville and Keither Stacy of Pilgrim; five sisters, Lillie Jude, Brize Jude and Roxie Fletcher all of Pilgrim, Betty Joe Jude of Pilgrim and Ruth Ellen Adams of Louisa; and many grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be 11AM Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Sidney Old Regular Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Stacy-Maynard cemetery at Warfield. Friends may visit the church after 3 PM Monday and all day Tuesday. Old Regular Baptist Elders will officiate. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

Rickey Eugene (Bud) Butcher, Jr.
Rickey Eugene (Bud) Butcher, Jr., age 20, of Austin, Indiana formerly of Van Lear passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in Indiana. Born July 16, 1989 in Ludington, Michigan he was the son of Rickey Butcher and Sandra Hannah. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Brandy Butcher of Austin, Indiana.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, March 28, 2010 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Gene Butcher cemetery at Daniels Creek. Gary Smith will officiate. Friends may visit the funeral home from 5-10 PM Friday and Saturday. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.

William (Bill) Belcher
William (Bill) Belcher, age 86, of West Van Lear passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Highland Regional in Prestonsburg. Born January 21, 1924 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late James and Ollie Mae Hyden Belcher. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Belcher {1994}. He is survived by two daughters, Billie Fannin of West Van Lear and Judy Turner of Van Lear; and twenty-nine grandchildren also survive. He was a WWII Veteran and a janitor at Porter Elementary.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, March 26, 2010 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Cumbo cemetery at West Van Lear. Larry Joe Bayes and Aaron Davis will officiate. Friends may visit the funeral home from 5-10 Wednesday and Thursday. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.

Della Jean Marcum
Della Jean Marcum, age 78, of Lovely, Ky. went home to be with the Lord and Savior on November 26, 2011. Della was born February 2, 1933 in Kermit WV, to the late Floyd and Pearl Webb. in addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters Violet Webb and Ruth Johnson; five brothers, Clifton Lloyd, Floyd Jr., Clifton, Robert and Arthur Webb; one son Ronald Marcum Webb, and a daughter-in-law Lisa Marcum. Surviving are husband of sixty two years, Ray Marcum; six daughters Linda Marcum of Louisa, Ky, Betty (Roy) Reedy of Lancaster, Ohio, Tola (John) Hutchison of Branchland, WV, Mary Lou (C.B.) Foley of Louisa, Ky, Pat (Charles) Combs of Dunnville, KY and Lisa ( Steven) Williams of Marrowbone, WV.; four sons Tommy (Nancy) Marcum of Pilgrim, KY, Jimmy Lee ( Maggie) Marcum of Inez, Ky, Donnie Ray (Gwen) Marcum of Liberty, KY and Jimmy Dale Marcum of Lovely, Ky; one brother Carl Webb of Scottstown, Ohio. she was a member of the Oppy Church of God and was blessed with seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and Nephews who she dearly loved. The family would like to thank all those involved with the helping of her health care, she delighted in telling everyone she came in contact with about the Lord, so we thank those who came to worship over the years with her. In Corinthians 12:9, and he said unto me. My Grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will i rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday November 28, 2011 in the chapel of Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Marion Marcum cemetery of Lovely, Ky. Kenneth Gore will officiate. friends may visit the Funeral Home from 6 to 10 PM Sunday. arrangements by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Inez.

Anna Fields
Anna Fields, age 74, of Crum WV. passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Born March 3, 1937 to the late Floyd Evans and Myrtle Bowens Evans. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Chris Fields; two brothers Bill Johnson and Earl Waller; one sister Nellie Johnson. She is survived by three brothers, Donald (Sarah) Johnson of Marengo, Ohio Cleve (Garnett) Johnson of Kermit, WV. and Roy Johnson of Waverly, Ohio; three sisters Minnie (Terry) Castle of Tutor Key, KY, Brenda Johnson of Florida and Belinda (Sam) Sanders of Crum, WV. and one sister-in-law Frankie Waller
Funeral services will be 12 PM Saturday November 26, 2011 at the Perry Point Church, Jennies Creek, WV. with burial to follow in the Webb cemetery, Webb WV. Ken Allen will officiate. Friends may visit the church after 5 PM Friday. Arrangements by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Inez.

Betty Newsome
Betty Preece Newsome, age 81, of Pilgrim, passed away at her home Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Born January 20, 1930 in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude Moore Muncy. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Homer Preece; her second husband, Harvey Newsome; one son, Virgil Preece; four brothers, Cecil, Homer, Edsel, and Lucian Muncy; and several sisters. She is survived by three sons, Clinton Preece of Lovely, Billy Edward Preece and Roy Preece both of Milo; one daughter, Barbara Ann Fletcher of Pilgrim; four sisters, 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 11AM Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Union United Baptist Church at the Mouth of Emily with burial to follow in the Muncy Family cemetery at Pilgrim. Terry Harmon and Tim McCoy will officiate. Friends may visit the church after 5PM Wednesday and all day Thursday. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

Allie Gamble
Allie Gamble, age 89, of Paintsville, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at Mountain Manor in Paintsville. Born December 6, 1921 in Magoffin County, she was the daughter of the late John and Dora Blair Gamble. She is survived by three sons, Charles Lemaster of Riceville, Payne Rice, Jr and Phillip Rice both of Oil Springs; four daughters, Patricia Reed of Oil Springs, Jan Hackworth of Swamp Branch, Jodie Music, and Georgia Music both of Oil Springs; two brothers, Ebb Gamble and William Henry Gamble both of Magoffin County; six sisters, Toe Hall, Joyce Lemaster, Wilma Blanton, Betty Blanton, and Mertie Howard, and Patty Helton all of Magoffin County; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1PM Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Robie Lemaster will officiate. Friends may visit the funeral home from 5-10PM Tuesday and until the time of service on Wednesday. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.

Eula Dillon
Eula Maynard Dillon, age 83, of Blaine formerly of Kermit, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 21, 2011 at her home. She was born March 15, 1928 to the late Julius and Mary Staton Hale of Pilgrim. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Maynard; her second husband, Willie Dillon; her son, Ralph E. Maynard; and one infant son. She is survived by one daughter, Mary (Larry) Lowe, of Blaine; one brother, Aaron Hale of Pilgrim; three grandchildren, Kevin (Doniella) Lowe of Blaine, Brian (Mitzi) Maynard and Cammie (Adam)Harris of Tennessee and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Hale Family cemetery at Pilgrim. Friends may visit the funeral home from 2-10pm Tuesday, and until the time of service on Wednesday. Larry Joe Bayes will officiate. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

Walter Thomas Duty
Walter Thomas Duty, age 52, of Boonscamp, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 at his home. Born August 23, 1959 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Russell and Georgene Adams Duty. He is survived by one son, Spencer Duty of Boonscamp; four daughters, Vivian Duty of Paintsville, Georgene Caudill of Ft. Carson, Colorado, Dawn Wells of Ormond Florida, and Haley Duty of Boonscamp; two brothers, Larry Duty of Van Lear and Jack Duty of Blacksburg, Virginia; two sisters, Judy Ward of Van Lear and Marie Rowland of Stanton, KY; and four grandchildren.
Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 5PM - 9PM Friday. There will be no Funeral Services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.
