Kettle Island - Sharon Brock Fletcher, 59, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2006, at Edward White Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla.

She was born June 9, 1946, a daughter of the late Marcus Edward Brock Sr. and Martha Lock Brock.

A member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, she retired from Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, and was a graduate of Bell County High School, and a member of the Bell County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mae Lefevers and Beulah Ruth Lock.

Survivors include children, Kelleye Bargo, and Kevin Kimberly Fletcher of St. Petersburg, Fla.; grandchildren, Kammey Bargo and Johnna Hubbard of Kettle Island; brother Marcus "Edd" and Cathy Brock of Louisville, Ky.; sisters, Sylvia Price and Don Price of Pineville, Beth Floyd of Louisville, Ky., and Carolyn Jarrett of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mill Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Wilder presiding.

Entombment will be in Greenhills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Middlesboro. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 until 9 p.m. at Mill Creek Baptist Church .

Fredelake, Nancy C. Bond

72, of Owenton, died Wednesday at Owenton Manor nursing home.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Norman B. Fredelake Sr.; daughters, Patricia Lefevers of Oregon, Carol Warren of Palm Springs, Calif., Brenda Lefevers of Pineville, Kelley Hensley and Cheri Fredelake, both of Owenton; sons, Frank Bond and Charles Bond, both of Ohio, and Norman Fredelake Jr. of Owenton; sisters, Myrtle Burdette of Maryland, Shirley Neely and Marjorie Game; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rogers Funeral Home, Owenton.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Plainview cemetery in Newtonsville, Ohio.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky., 41042.

Gambrel, Earl D.

CORBIN — Earl D. Gambrel, 53, of Corbin, Ky., and formerly of Pineville, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Christian Health Center in Corbin, Ky. He was born July 26, 1954, in Harlan, Ky., the son of the late Harl and Ida Gambrel. He was a believer in the Baptist faith. He was a coal miner for over 20 years and had also been a house mover.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Sharon Evans Gambrel, one daughter: Amy Denise Gambrel, one sister: Lucy Gambrel, two grandchildren: Frankie Lee Baker, Jr. and Autumn Rose Baker.

He is survived by the following members of his family: Wife: Debbie Gambrel, Middlesboro, Ky.; daughter: April (Frankie) Baker, Corbin, Ky.; son: Bo Gambrel, Harrogate, Tenn.; grandchildren: Whitney and Jaxon Baker, Corbin, Ky.; two step-grandchildren: Brittany and Shane Cobb, Middlesboro, Ky.; three sisters: Bonnie (James) Woolum, Arjay, Ky., Allene (Elmer) Taylor, Arjay, Ky., Anna Gambrel, Straight Creek, Ky.; three brothers: Eugene (Faye) Gambrel, Wolcott, Ind., Arelee (Melva) Gambrel, Columbus City, Ind., Lester (Martha) Gambrel, Middlesboro, Ky.; and a host of other friends, relatives and loved ones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Creech-Durham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Irving Gipson presiding.

Music will be provided by Paul Gipson.

Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Creech-Durham Funeral Home.

Creech-Durham Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Gambrel, Eugene

KETTLE ISLAND — Eugene Gambrel, 72, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Pineville Community Hospital.

He was born in Knox County on November 14, 1935, the youngest of 16 children of the late Boyd and Mollie Gambrel. He had been a coal miner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Hensley Gambrel;, a host of brothers and sisters; mother and father-in-law, Myrtle and Albert Hensley.

Survivors include his children, Janice and Terry Hurt of Anneville, Ky., Ricky and Lavon Gambrel of Winder, Ga., Marty and Tammy Gambrel of Tazewell, Missy Sulfridge and Donnie Sparks of Middlesboro, Angie and Alex Whitehead of Pineville, Gina and Charles Johnson of Tazewell, and Charlotte Renee Gambrell and Scott Simons of Pineville; grandchildren, Joanie and Roger Moore, Marsha and Chris Owens, Donna and Eric Murphy, Jonathan Scott Gambrel, Brittany Gambrel, Michael Sulfridge, Eugene Allen Gambrel, Jamie Johnson, Karen Johnson, Logan Whitehead, Madison Whitehead, Emily Grace Simons; great-grandchildren, Krystal, Dustin, Dalton and Tyler Moore, Amber Lee and Brooklyn Owens; step-grandchildren, Tanisha Milton, Anthony and Lucas Moore; brother, Leroy Gambrel; sister, Ruby Hensley; brothers-in-law, Lee Roy Hensley, Don and Janice Henley and Daniel and Betty Hensley; sister-in-law, Virgie Smith; special friends and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at the Big Jim cemetery at Arjay. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday after 6 p.m. at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville which is in charge of arrangements.

Garland, Connie Sue Taylor

PINEVILLE — Connie Sue Taylor Garland, 51, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at her home in Straight Creek.

She was born in Beverly on October 29, 1956, the daughter of the late George Taylor and Opal Warren Taylor Smith, who survives.

She was a member of Arjay Baptist Church and had worked in housekeeping at Pineville Community Hospital.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her sister, Rudy Taylor and brothers Ronald George Taylor and Bobby Wayne Taylor and stepfather, Floyd Smith.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Kaye Simpson and fiance, Rex Steven Helton of Flatlick; brothers and sisters, Dorothy and Steve Emery of Dorton Branch, Harold and Bonnie Taylor of Straight Creek, Kaye and Jerry Emery of Dorton Branch; twin sister, Kathy Elliott of Pineville, Freddie Taylor of Straight Creek, Terry Taylor of Tazewell; special friends, Frankie Engle and Maxine Garland; special nieces, Christy Elliott and Kayla Smith; special great-nephew, Cody Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Arnett and Steele Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Poore and the Rev. Mark Mahurin.

Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Engle and staff at Com Care Center

The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. Friday at the Arnett and Steele Funeral Home in Pineville.

Gibbons, Dorothy Jackson

Dorothy Jackson Gibbons, 58, of Arjay, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the Pineville Community Hospital.

She was born in Red Bird on May 28, 1949 the daughter of Bessie Lawson Jackson and the late Charlie Jackson.

She believed in the Holiness Pentecostal Faith and had been a substance abuse counselor for many years.

Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Ralph Hamilton Gibbons; mother, Bessie Lawson Jackson, sister, Wanda Deaton and brothers, Lewis Jackson of Tazewell and Donald Jackson of Middlesboro, parents-in-law, Arlis and Jennie Gibbons of Ewing, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. George Neal, Rev. Gerald Warf and Rev. Frank Johnson.

Burial will be in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro.

Pallbearers will be Gary Gibbons, Jeff Gibbons, Todd Warf, Michael Jackson, Steve Britton and Lester Vaughn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Mohan and Dr. Hays and their staffs, Pineville Community Hospital, Britthaven of Pineville and Pineville Home Health.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 PM Friday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.

Green, Martin Oakley

PINEVILLE - Martin Oakley "MO" Green, 84, of Pineville, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2006, at his home.

He was born Nov. 17, 1920, in Lee County, Va., the son of the late Charles and Sarah Peace Green. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Estill and Bob Green; two sisters, Irene and Grace Green; and three grandchildren.

He is survived by the following members of his family: wife, Viola Knuckles Green, Pineville; 13 children, Delores Brown, Cassie (Bill) Green, Bobby (Rena) Green, Elaine (Tommy) Guinn, and Helen Brock, all of Pineville, Tommie Johnson, Gray, Ky., Larry (Debbie) Green, Pineville, Jeannie (Wayne) Willis, Berea, Ky., Theresa Green, Calvin, Nancy (Eddie) Stoner, Mary (Tommy) Clayton, and Martin (Barb) Green, all of Pineville; three brothers, Curt Green, Ft. Wayne, Ind., Ford Green, Alton, Ill., Dephus Green; five sisters, Virginia Overton, Middlesboro, Janell Davis, Knoxville, Tenn., Jeanette Blevins, Middlesboro, Reba Green, Middlesboro, and Sue Green; 33 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Creech Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Lowe and Dr. William Boyd Bingham presiding. Music will be by Karen Morse and the Spirit Led Singers.

Burial will be in Pinelawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Saylor, Roger Hoskins, and Larry Mason. Military honors will be presented at the graveside by American Legion Dewey Guy Post #14.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Creech Funeral Home, Middlesboro, which is in charge of arrangements.

Grubbs, Cassie Simpson

JENSON - Cassie Simpson Grubbs, 75, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Pineville Community Hospital.

She was a homemaker, and a loving mother. A member of Old Straight Creek Trinity Tabernacle, she loved her church family.

She was the daughter of the late Rev. Jim and Mossie Simpson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, PB Grubbs; 10 brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her children, Wendell and Jewell Grubbs, Kettle Island; Rev. Bobby and Ginger Grubbs, Pineville, Elzie Dewayne Grubbs, Cincinnati, Ohio, Beulah and Terry Kennedy, Amarillo, Texas, James "Bo" and Faye Grubbs, New Tazewell, Tenn., Henry "Hick" Grubbs and Ginger Caldwell, Jenson; brothers and sisters, Gaynell Johnson, Jenson, James Simpson, Jenson, Viola Price, Cincinnati, Hazel Hoskins, Kettle Island, Joe Simpson, Jenson, Johnny Simpson, Jenson; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends; and her church family at Old Straight Creek Trinity Tabernacle.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at Old Straight Creek Trinity Tabernacle Church with the Revs. Danny Daniels, Herman Denny, Mark Mahurin, and Don Messer presiding.

Interment will be in the Simpson Family cemetery at Jenson.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Grubbs, Terry Hampton, Jerry Hampton, Eddie Hampton, Rev. Wayne Pate, John Smith, Millard Napier and Colson Jr. Napier.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home, Pineville, which is in charge of arrangements.

Hall, David Elmer

MIDDLESBORO — David Elmer Hall, 69, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008, at his home.

He was born February 25, 1939, in Jenkins, Ky., to the late Mark Hall and Mary Belle Thompson Hall.

He was a master at laying stone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carole Pepitone.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Hall, Middlesboro; daughter, Jayne Creech and Todd Adkins, Middlesboro; son, Tim Hall and Kara Beth Lawson, Middlesboro; sisters, Patsy Good, Woodbine, Ky., Susan Peplinski, Middlesboro, Becky Garrison, Corbin, Ky.; brother, Robert Hall, Middlesboro; four grandchildren, Mark and Megan Hall, Jordan Adkins, Austin Creech; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Minor presiding.

Music will be provided by Jimmy Jackson and Dickie Siler.

Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Tim Hall, Todd Adkins, and friends of the family.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Creech Funeral Home, which is in charge of all arrangements.

Hall, Ethel Warren

Mrs. Ethel Warren Hall, 88, of Barbourville, Ky. departed this life on Wednesday-June 14, 2006 in the Barbourville Nursing Home.

She was born on September 27, 1917 in Bell County, Ky., the daughter of James and Dora Warren and was the widow of Lester Hall.

Mrs. Hall was a homemaker and believed in the Pentecostal faith.

Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband Lester Hall: her parents, James Warren and Dora (Reynolds) Warren, one son, Hasten Hall, one brother, Floyd Warren and two half-brothers, Archie Beverly and Oscar Beverly.

Survivors include:

Two daughters: Judy Warren and husband Larry of Barbourville, Ky. and Joyce Brock and husband Herman of Corbin, Ky. One son: Donald Hall of Las Vegas, Nevada: Three sisters: Alice Smith of Jacksboro, Tenn., Minnie Hooker of Greenwood, Indiana, and Gladys Hooker of Arjay, Ky., Two brothers: Charlie Warren of Barbourville, Ky. and Eugene Warren of London, Ky.

Six Half Brothers and Sisters: Viola Lewis and Brittain Beverly, both of Arjay, Ky., J.D. Warren and Carlos Warren both of Michigan, Bill Warren and Doug Warren, both of Pineville, Ky.

Hampton Funeral home in charge of arraingements. Buried in the Pineville cemetery.
