FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Edwin "Eddie" Smith, 60, of Clayton, who died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, in Clayton, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young's Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. James Mophett and Ed Ellis officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park in Sicily Island under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Mr. Smith was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Clayton.

He was an operator for Masco Wireline Service of Clayton and a member of Clayton Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Edgar Smith; his mother, Mary Emma Smith; one sister, Joyce Ann Smith; one brother, Richard "Dickie" Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Smith of Clayton; two daughers, Alicia Barron and her husband, Eddie, and Joyce Cupit and her husband, Daniel, all of Clayton; two sons, Michael Smith and his wife, Robin, and Chester Verbeck and his wife, Tommy, all of Clayton; one brother, Larry Joe Smith of Clayton; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Clayton, Jimmie Davis, Bruce King, Randy Nugent, Kevin Skipper, Danny Smith, Tommy Rae Smith and Wayne Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Barron, Sammy Butler, Bo Graves, Larry "Butch" Graves, Carrol Hall, Mickey Richards and Gerald Webb.

Thaddeus Edwards

Feb. 13, 1963 - Jan. 20, 2003

WATERPROOF, La. - Services for Thaddeus Edwards, 39, of Waterproof, who died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Wells officiating.

Burial will be in Myrtle Grove cemetery in Waterproof under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Edwards was born Feb. 13, 1963, in Waterproof, the son of Mango Daniels and Annie B. Edwards. He was a forklift operator and a Baptist.

Survivors include one daughter, Lakeivea Warren of Baton Rouge; his parents, Annie B. Edwards and Mango Daniels of Waterproof; three sisters, Josie Carter and Sherry Edwards, both of Kansas City, Mo., and Rowdy Edwards of Waterproof; five brothers, Michael Edwards, Gary Edwards and Sanford Edwards, all of Kansas City, David Edwards of Dallas and Hosea Edwards of Nashville, Tenn.; one aunt, Gertrude Crockett of Waterproof; one uncle, Andrew Daniels of Waterproof; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sam Wilson

Aug. 21, 1918 - Jan. 15, 2003

MONTEREY, La. - Services for Sam Wilson, 84, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Louis H. Barber officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilson was born Aug. 21, 1918, in Monterey, the son of Bailey and Leana Whitley Wilson.

He was a retired farmer and a Baptist.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include six sisters, Bobbie Skipper of Monterey, Bessie Neal of Clarks, La., Adell Coleman of Grayson, La., Myrtle Lee Anderson of Jena, La., Angie Sith and Katie Turner, both of South Bend, Ind.; one step-sister, Betsy Ann Moran of Clarks, La.; two brothers, Sylvester Wilson of South Bend and Roger Wilson of Fort Washington, Md.; friends, Parish Jackson and Virgie Jackson, both of Ferriday; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mildred Milligan

July 25, 1940 - Jan. 18, 2003

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Mildred "Missie" Milligan, 62, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church with the Rev. Freddie Schiele officiating.

Burial will be in the Ferriday cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Milligan was born July 25, 1940, in Vidalia, the daughter of Tom and Lue Tolliver Milligan.

She was a homemaker and a member of Rosehill Baptist Church.

Ms. Milligan was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Milligan; one daughter, Jackie Milligan; her mother; and two sisters, Brenda Milligan and Dorothy Milligan.

Survivors include her father, Tom Milligan of Ferriday; one son, Kenneth Milligan of Ferriday; one daughter, Rhonda Milligan of Ferriday; four brothers, Willie "Man" Milligan, Charles Milligan, James Milligan and Melvin Milligan, all of Ferriday; three sisters, Elnora Milligan and Willie Mae Spurs and her husband, Isaac, all of Ferriday and Emma Conner and her husband, James, both of Natchez; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three aunts, Iola Thomas, Edna Anderson and Pearlina Henderson, all of Addis, La.; two uncles, Joseph Milligan of Ferriday and Leonard Snearl of Addis.

Lydia B. Kirby

April 9, 1909 - Jan. 22, 2003

JONESVILLE, La. - Services for Lydia B. Kirby, 93, of Jonesville, who died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Columns Nursing Home of Jonesville, will be at 10 a.m. today at Young's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marion Trisler Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Heard cemetery in Manifest under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville.

Mrs. Kirby was born April 9, 1909, in Rapides Parish.

She had been a telephone operator for 24 years with LaSalle Telephone Company and a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville.

Mrs. Kirby was preceded in death by her husband, Shely E. Kirby; her father, M.N. "Bulley" Beaubouet; her mother, Dorthy Beaubouet; one brother, Blackmon Beaubouet; one sister, Lena B. Pecanty.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen K. King and her husband, J.R., both of Jonesville; two great-grandsons, Karnie King and Kirby King; five great-grandchildren, Kyle King, Chelsea King, Devin King, Kacie King and Kalon King.

Pallbearers will be Ben King, Kalon King, Karnie King, Ken King, Kirby King and Hison Montplier.

The family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Jonesville.

Patricia Lynn Rabb

Jan. 20, 1971 - Jan. 22, 2003

BOUGERE, La. - Services for Patricia Lynn Rabb, 32, of Vicksburg, who died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Vicksburg Conv. Home, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bougere Baptist Church with the Rev. C.D. Beard officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Vidalia.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Ms. Rabb was born Jan. 20, 1971, in New Brunswick, N.J.

She was a sales clerk and a Baptist.

Survivors include her mother, Deborah Pilgrim of Natchez; two daughters, Mellisa Delaney and Destney Smith; three sons, Hunter Lee Smith, Jounery Smith and Harlie Wheeler; one sister, Margaret Cloy of Roxie; one brother, William Oxley of Natchez; one step-sister, Peggy Sue Pierce of Oklahomo City, Okla.; one step-brother, Wayne Pierce of Hugo, Okla.; grandmother, Margaret Martin of Natchez; uncle and aunt, John and Elisia Hall; friends, Albert Britt of Vidalia, Lynn Dunson and Patty Polk of Florida, Jackie and John Smith of Vidalia and Samantha Wilson of Natchez; step-father, Thomas Stevens.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Becky Chapman

Dec. 26, 1949 -- July 17, 2002

VIDALIA, La. -- Services for Becky Chapman, 52, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at St. Francis Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Vidalia First Assembly of God with the Rev. Albert Fraley officiating.

Burial will follow in Rogers cemetery in Clayton under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Chapman was born Dec. 26, 1949, the daughter of Richard E. and Janet F. Hare.

She was a correctional officer for Concordia Parish Correction Facility and a member of Vidalia First Assembly of God.

Survivors include her parents of West Monroe; three daughters, Jennifer Chapman, Tammy Chapman and Allison Roberts and her husband, Tommy, all of Ferriday; two sisters, Brenda Gates of Denham Springs and Ruby Tyson of Houston; two granddaughters, Katie Dunson and Kristen Dunson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be employees with the Concordia Parish Correction Facility and the Sheriff's Department.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Brasher, Jonathan Dean, Mickey Dean, Eric Gates Sr. and Larry Ivy.

James Ancel Kitchen Sr.

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for James Ancel "Jimmy" Kitchen Sr., 89, of St. Joseph, who died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in Vicksburg, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Robert Cooper officiating.

Burial will be at Legion Memorial cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Kitchen was born March 15, 1914, in Edgar Springs, Mo., the son of James Edward and Nancy Evans Kitchen.

He was Tensas Parish clerk of courts for 44 years and was a veteran of World War II. He was also a member of St. Joseph Tensas Masonic Lodge 309 and El Karubah Shriners of Monroe and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include two sons, James A. Kitchen Jr. and wife Judith of Baton Rouge and John C. Kitchen and wife Deborah of St. Joseph; four grandchildren, James A. Kitchen III, john Charles Kitchen, Julie Kristen Kitchen and William Daniel Kitchen; and two nieces and two nephews.

Pallbearers will be James A. Kitchen III, John Charles Kitchen, William Daniel Kitchen, Leroy McDaniel, Allen Perritt and Jerome K. Post Jr.

Mabel Louise Miles

Nov. 24, 1911 -- July 19, 2002

FERRIDAY, La. -- Services for Mabel Louise Miles, 90, of Vidalia, who died Friday, July 19, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Young's Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Old Catahoula cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Miles was born Nov. 24, 1911, in Harrisonburg, the daughter of Alber O. and Fannie Oliphant.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ of Ferriday.

Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Miles; her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ruby Mae Seymour Clingan

MANGHAM, La. -- Services for Ruby Mae Seymour, 90, of Mangham, who died Friday, July 19, 2002, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mangham First Baptist Church under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.

Burial will follow in Gwin cemetery in Mangham.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.

Mrs. Clingan was a homemaker.

Jack Thompson White

JONESVILLE, La. -- Services for Jack Thompson White, 77, of Jonesville, who died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at his residence will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Mack Walker, Clyde Grammon and Lawrence Hailey officiating.

Burial will follow in Pease cemetery in Larto under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until time of the service Monday at the church.

Mr. White was a farmer and cattleman, former alderman for the Town of Jonesville, former owner of White's Shoe Store, member of First Baptist Church, retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and served as a glider mechanic and infantryman in World War II.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Darla Lea White; his parents, Walter and Effie Paulk White; and two brothers, Walter White and Archie White.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Brewer White; two daughters, Jacqueline White O'Neal and her husband, Jack, both of West Monroe, and Christine White Lofton and her husband, Ronnie, both of Sicily Island; three sons, Walter White and his wife, Vickie, both of Kingston, Tenn., Jesse White of West Monroe and Bobby Joe White and his wife, Jody, both of Grayson; four brothers, Herman "Pete" White, H.C. White and Carvel White, all of Jonesville, and Jimmy White of Mobile, Ala.; two sisters, Marjorie Book of Jonesville and Shirley Gann of Terrell, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bill Marshall, Brad Cockerham, Larry Owen Crouch, Ronnie Wilson, Rodger Wilson Sr., Jeff Trisler and Eddie Knapp.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kenneth Stubbs, Eric White, Larry Crouch, Mike Taylor, Terry Smith, Chuck Smith and Wes Smith.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., First Baptist Church of Jonesville or the Louisiana Baptist's Children's Home in Monroe.
