Louise Adams

Dec. 27, 1963 - Dec. 4, 2002

CONOR, La. - Services for Louise Adams, 38, of Woodville, who died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beech Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Sullivan officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home.

Adams was born Dec. 27, 1963, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Alma Adams Wyatt and L.C. Banford.

Adams was preceded in death by her parents and her godmother, Sarah Hampton.

Survivors include one daughter, Gabiella Davis of Woodville; three sisters, D'vonne Blackmore and Frances Green and her husband, Calvin, all of Woodville, and Melinda Haynes and her husband, Keefer, both of Centreville; four brothers, James Adams and his wife, Pam, both of New Orleans, Gregory Wyatt and his wife, Antonist, both of Plaquemine, La., and Charles and Donald Wyatt, both of Woodville; two uncles, Tommy Adams and his wife, Ellen, both of St. Francisville, La., and William Banford and his wife, Lucille; six aunts, Bessie Smith and her husband, Charles, both of New Orleans, Vivian Freeman and her husband, Greg, both of Hammond, La., Sally Willis Hubert, Odeal Seymore, Ida Banford and Louise Hardy; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Vicki Chapman Kerstine

Dec. 3, 1950 - Dec. 10, 2002

VIDALIA, La. - Services for Vicki Chapman Kerstine, 52, of Ridgeland, who died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at River Oaks Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. today at Young's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Ingram officiating.

Burial will follow in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.

Mrs. Kerstine was born Dec. 3, 1950, in Natchez, the daughter of Thomas and Yvonne Chapman.

She was a nurse and a member of Green Acres Baptist Church of Bastrop.

Mrs. Kerstine was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband, Judge Edwin Eugene Kerstine of Ridgeland; her mother; three sons, Bradley "Ryan" White and Ralph "Scott" White, both of Bastrop, and Thomas "Casey" White of Natchez; two stepdaughters, Michelle Garner of Raleigh, N.C., and Carlyn McKinney of Natchez; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Walter Brown, Mayor Hiram Copeland, Roy Fuller, Casey Gilbert, Billy Ray Smart, Clyde Ray Webber, Dustin Wilson and Joseph Zuccaro.

Argie E. Armstrong

March 15, 1931 - Dec. 11, 2002

NEWELLTON, La. - Graveside services for Argie E. Armstrong, 71, of St. Joseph, who died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, in St. Joseph, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Legion Memorial cemetery.

Burial will follow under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Mr. Armstrong was born March 15, 1931, in Jasper, Ark., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jack Armstrong.

He was a farmer.

Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include one son, James Armstrong of St. Joseph.

Pallbearers will be Joe Armstrong, Shannon Armstrong, Chris Harrison, Craig Keyes, George Rushing, Kenny Sanders and Steven Shepperson.

George Williams

Dec. 10, 1955 - Dec. 11, 2002

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for George "June" Williams, 47, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, La., will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rufus Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Mays officiating.

Burial will follow in Ferriday cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Williams was born Dec. 10, 1955, in Ferriday, the son of Archie J. Williams and Alice L. Banks.

He was a police officer with the Ferriday Police Department for many years and served as deacon and Sunday school superintendent at Rufus Baptist Church.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Robert Earl Banks.

Survivors include two children, Demicu Bates and Brittany Elizabeth Williams, both of Ferriday; his father; his former wife, Catrina Smith of Ferriday; four brothers, John W. Williams and his wife, Ann, both of Monroe, La., Timothy D. Williams and his wife, Marjorie, both of Lake Charles, La., Larry Williams and his wife, Marilyn Joyce, both of Houston, and Archie J. Williams Jr. of Los Angeles; five sisters, Patricia Johnson and her husband, Earl, both of Atlanta, Faye Gilly and her husband, Andrew, and Chris Chavesh and her husband, Willie, all of Jacksonville, Fla., Mary Ellen White and her husband, Joe, and Martha Brown and her husband, Darryl, all of Ferriday; five uncles, the Rev. Eugene Williams of Vidalia, La., and the Rev. Odell Williams, Leroy Williams, Dewitt Williams and Andrew Banks, all of Ferriday; one sister-in-law, Alberta Banks of Ferriday; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be the Ferriday Police Department.

James Helton Jr.

Aug. 18, 1951 - Dec. 9, 2002

SULPHUR, La. - Services for James "Jimmy" Helton Jr., 51, of Sulphur, who died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at his residence, were held Dec. 11 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Mr. Helton was born Aug. 18, 1951, in Natchez, the son of James and Kathleen Couillard Helton.

He was employed as a pipefitter with Lyondell Chemical Refinery and was a member of the Catholic faith.

Mr. Helton was preceded in death by his father; one uncle, Donald Helton; and one grandfather, Burton Helton.

Survivors include one son, Scott Helton of Sulphur; one daughter, Kate Helton of Sulphur; his mother; three brothers, Chip Helton and his wife, Dawn, both of Silsbee, Texas, Jeff Helton and his wife, Susan, both of Sulphur, and Keith Helton and his wife, Rhonda, both of Lake Charles; his grandmother, Ada Helton of Opelousas; one aunt, Pat Helton of Opelousas; an uncle and aunt, Claude and Joan Hewitt of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Claude Hewitt Jr., Ben Hewitt, Buddy Helton, Dirk Helton, Chad and Jayson Helton and Steve Mistretta of Texas.

James Helton Jr.

Aug. 18, 1951 - Dec. 9, 2002

SULPHUR, La. - Funeral arrangements for James "Jimmy" Helton Jr., 51, of Sulphur, who died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at his residence, are incomplete at this time.

Mr. Helton was born Aug. 18, 1951, in Natchez, the son of James and Kathleen Couillard Helton.

He was preceded in death by his father; one uncle, Donald Helton; and his grandfather, Burton Helton.

Survivors include one son, Scott; one daughter, Kate; his mother; three brothers, John Burton of Sillsbee, Texas, Jeff Burton of Sulphur and Keith Burton of Lake Charles; his grandmother, Ada Helton of Opelousas; one aunt, Pat Helton of Opelousas; an uncle and aunt, Claude and Joan Hewitt of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Elnora Jordan

Aug. 12, 1922 - Dec. 6, 2002

WATERPROOF, La. - Services for Elnora Jordan, 80, of Waterproof, who died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Roosevelt England officiating.

Burial will follow in Myrtle Grove cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ms. Jordan was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Waterproof, the daughter of Sim and Priscilla Jordan.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

Ms. Jordan was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Henry Jordan; and one sister, Jessie Nellon.

Survivors include her niece, Maeola Jordan of Waterproof; two brothers, Sim Jordan Jr. and his wife, Pearl, both of Victor, Calif., and Herric Jordan and his wife, Dorothy, both of Westwego.; two sisters, Easter Berry of Compton, Calif., and Henrietta Jordan of Monroe; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

William H. Otzenberger

VIDALIA, La. - Funeral arrangements for William H. Otzenberger of Vidalia, who died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital, are incomplete at Laird Funeral Home.

Lutie White Hawkins

Nov. 17, 1902 -- July 29, 2002

COLUMBIA, La. -- Services for Lutie White Hawkins, 99, of Albany, Ga., formerly of Columbia, who died Monday, July 29, 2002 at the Phobe-Putney Hospital in Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Columbia Hill cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 8:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Hawkins was born Nov. 17, 1902, in Caldwell Parish.

She was a retired school teacher, a graduate of Grayson High School and Normal Teachers College in Natchitoches. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church in Columbia and a member of First Baptist Church in Albany. She was also a member of the Columbia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving a total of 73 years.

Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by her husband, James Malloy Hawkins Sr.; one son, James Malloy Hawkins Jr.; and one great-great-granddaughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Dryg.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Hawkins Carroll and her husband, Ben, both of Albany; two sons, Dr. Harold C. Hawkins of Natchez and Linus Tillman Hawkins and his wife, Barbara M. Hawkins, both of Jennings; one daughter-in-law, Maxine Hawkins of Ferriday; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Hawkins and his wife, Mary Ann Hawkins, Danny Hawkins, Julia Carroll Rice and her husband, the Rev. Don L. Rice, Ben M. Carroll and his wife, Linda Carroll, Tim H. Carroll and his wife, Virginia Carrol, C. Matt Carroll, Dr. Marshall M. Hawkins and his wife, Dr. Barbara L. Palmer-Hawkins, and Elizabeth Hawkins Swinson and her husband, David Swinson; 12 great-grandchildren, Carrie R. Hand and her husband, Wendell Hand, David B. Rice, Nathan H. Carroll, M. Aaron Carroll, M. Caleb Carroll, Rachel A. Carroll, Amanda R. Carroll, Ben J. Carroll, Josh G. Carroll, Eric T. Dryg, John M. Hawkins and Jason C. Hawkins; and five great-great-grandchildren, Braylee Dryg, Aislyn Dryg, Greg Hawkins, Abigail L. Hand and Hugh Redding.

Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, John Hawkins, Jason Hawkins, Eric Dryg, David Rice, Benjamin Carroll, Josh Carroll, Nathan Carroll, Aaron Carroll and Caleb Carroll.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jimmy Hawkins, Danny Hawkins, Dr. Marshall Hawkins, Ben Carroll, Tim Carroll and Matt Carroll.

The family requests memorials be made to the Natchez Children's Home, Natchez.

Natalie Pecanty

Sept. 13, 1922 - June 17, 2003

EVA, La. - Services for Natalie Pecanty, 80, of Jonesville, La., who died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Columns Nursing Home in Jonesville, will be at 2 p.m. today at Eva Church of God with Kevin Sims and Gordon Finlay officiating.

Burial will be in Tiffee cemetery in Monterey, La. under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday, La.

Mrs. Pecanty was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Eva.

She was a homemaker and a member of Eva Church of God.

Mrs. Pecanty was preceded in death by two brothers, M. A. Tiffee and Jack Tiffee and one sister, Mary Wanda Schleets.

Survivors include one son, Norman Pecanty of Monterey; her husband, Joseph Clyde Pecanty of Monterey; one daughter, Jo Ann Pecanty of Natchez; one sister, Dixie Rae Crum of Ferriday; one brother, Aubry Layne Tiffee of Monterey.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Ray Pecanty, Andre Pecanty, Perry Pecanty, Joe Knapp, Alton Knapp Jr. and Tommy Tiffee.

Sam Earl Jr.

Aug. 2, 1944 - Dec. 6, 2002

VIDALIA, La. - Services for Sam Earl Jr., 58, who died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at New Bethel Church with the Rev. Troy Thomas officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Hill cemetery under the direction of West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Earl was born Aug. 2, 1944, in Natchez, the son of Mary and Sam Earl Sr.

He was retired from International Paper.

Survivors include his wife, Herman Jean Earl; three daughters, Latricia Earl of Memphis, Tenn., Sandra Earl of Natchez and Deborah Wilson of San Antonio; one son, Antwony Pere Sylvester; two stepdaughters, Linda Baker and Lorraine Woodfork, both of Natchez; three sisters, Ernestine Williams, and Ermma Lee Hunt, both of Natchez, and Julene Norton and her husband, Willie, both of Maryland; 13 grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Willie Thomas, Willie Thomas Jr., Derek Washington and Lucius Washington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Woodfork, Henry Russel and Christopher Williams.

Leola Deloris Lee

July 10, 1940 - Dec. 5, 2002

WATERPROOF, La. - Services for Leola Deloris Lee, 62, of Waterproof, who died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Jessie Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in Loamland cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Lee was born July 10, 1940, in Waterproof, the daughter of Arthur and Nellie Jones Lee.

She was a retired cook for Natchez Community Hospital and was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church, where she served as assistant church secretary.

Ms. Lee was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include one son, Keith Lee of Waterproof; one daughter, Gwen Lee of Ferriday; one brother, Seamon Lee of Los Angeles; three sisters, Addie Price and her husband, Raymond, both of Los Angeles, Vieta Strap of Jena and Willie M. Clark of New Orleans; two grandchildren, Keldric Lee of New Orleans and Jalisa Lee of Ferriday; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
