VIDALIA, La. - Funeral arrangements for George Garland, 60, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital, are incomplete at Laird Funeral.

Myreon O'Shay Hawkins

May 24, 1985 -- July 21, 2002

VIDALIA, La. -- Services for Myreon O'Shay Hawkins, 17, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Ferriday, who died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville will be at noon Saturday at Young's Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Shep Bethley officiating.

Burial will follow in the Vidalia cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Hawkins was born May 24, 1985, in Ferriday, the son of Litedel Webster and Brenda Hawkins.

He was a student and a Baptist.

Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Johnnie Lee Hawkins, and one uncle, Kelvin Hawkins.

Survivors include his parents; four brothers, Mario Hawkins, Fadain Hawkins, Keon Hawkins and Mahri Hawkins, all of Nashville; four sisters, Kenisha McKenney, Shehekia Hawkins, Tarsha Hill and Miyesha Palmer, all of Nashville; one niece and four nephews; paternal grandmothers, Eileen L. Johnson of Nashville and Lelo Webster of Ferriday; and maternal grandfather, Roosevelt Hawkins Sr. of Vidalia.

Helen Benton Vollmer

FERRIDAY, La. -- Funeral arrangements for Helen Benton Vollmer, 82, of Ferriday, La., are incomplete at Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Jimmy Yakey

Dec. 19, 1958 -- July 30, 2002

VIDALIA, La. -- Services for Jimmy Yakey, 43, of Vidalia, who died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in Wesson will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Young's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Nunn officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Vidalia.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Yakey was born Dec. 19, 1958, in Natchez, the son of Ralph Arland and Betty Jean Yakey.

He was a mechanic and a Baptist.

Mr. Yakey was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patti Sue Yakey.

Survivors include two daughters, Kristina Yakey of Virginia Beach, Va., and Laura I. Yakey of Columbia; two sisters, Sandra Beunker of Illinois and Pam Whitehead of Natchez; one brother, Robert Yakey and his wife, Ann, both of Vidalia.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Donald, Doyle Morris, Scott Olive, Mike Tarver, Jeremy Yakey and Michael Yakey.

Willie Lee Bowman

June 10, 1947 - Nov. 26, 2002

ST. JOSEPH, La. - Services for Willie Lee "Chill" Bowman, 55, of Dallas, formerly of St. Joseph, who died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in Dallas, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oneonta Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Bowman was born June 10, 1947, in St. Joseph, the son of Lawrence and Lucille Barnes Bowman.

He was a heavy equipment operator, a member of the Baptist faith and a 1965 graduate of Tensas Rosenwald High School in Waterproof.

Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Debra B. Scott and Emma Hardin.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Tillman Bowman of North Las Vegas, Nev.; four daughters, Andrea Bowman and Demetrice Bowman, both of Bellflower, Calif., and Stephanie Bowman and Jackualine Tillman, both of Las Vegas; ten brothers, Lawrence Bowman of Las Vegas, Bennie Bowman of Inglewood, Calif., Charles Bowman of Detroit, Roy Bowman and Maurice Bowman, both of New Orleans, Elijah Bowman, Bobbie Bowman, Larry Bowman and Robert Bowman, all of Baton Rouge, and Terry Guy of Greensburg; two sisters, Linda Wilson of Baton Rouge and Zelma Bowman of New Orleans; four grandchildren; and a number of uncles, aunts, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rosie Lee Jones

Dec. 9, 1925 - Dec. 7, 2002

VIDALIA, La. - Services for Rosie Lee Jones, 76, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Vidalia cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Vidalia, the daughter of Lincoln and Eliza Young Bell.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Baptist faith and a member of Rosewood Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 65 of Vidalia. She also served on the mother's board at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Emmanuel Jones.

Survivors include one daughter, Eliza Bell of Ferriday; three grandchildren, Kryshawn Bell, Tammy Gorham and Darryl Bell and his wife, Carla, all of Ferriday; four great-grandchildren; and three godchildren, Chad Bowser, Brenda Arrington and Patricia Johnson.

Elnora Jordan

Aug. 12, 1922 - Dec. 6, 2002

WATERPROOF, La. - Services for Elnora Jordan, 80, of Waterproof, who died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Roosevelt England officiating.

Burial will follow in Myrtle Grove cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Jordan was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Waterproof, the daughter of Sim and Priscilla Jordan.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

Ms. Jordan was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Henry Jordan; and one sister, Jessie Nellon.

Survivors include her niece, Maeola Jordan of Waterproof; two brothers, Sim Jordan Jr. and his wife, Pearl, both of Victor, Calif., and Herric Jordan and his wife, Dorothy, both of Westwego; two sisters, Easter Berry of Compton, Calif., and Henrietta Jordan of Monroe; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Vicki Chapman Kerstine

Dec. 3, 1950 - Dec. 10, 2002

VIDALIA, La. - Services for Vicki Chapman Kerstine, 52, of Ridgeland, who died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at River Oaks Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Young's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Ingram officiating.

Burial will follow in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kerstine was born Dec. 3, 1950, in Natchez, the daughter of Thomas A. and Yvonne Chapman.

She was a nurse and a member of Green Acres Baptist Church of Bastrop.

Mrs. Kerstine was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband, Judge Edwin Eugene Kerstine of Ridgeland; her mother; three sons, Bradley "Ryan" White and Ralph "Scott" White, both of Bastrop, and Thomas "Casey" White of Natchez; two stepdaughters, Michelle Garner of Raleigh, N.C., and Carlyn McKinney of Natchez; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Walter Brown, Mayor Hiram Copeland, Roy Fuller, Casey Gilbert, Billy Ray Smart, Clyde Ray Webber, Dustin Wilson and Joseph Zuccaro.

Lillian Randall Hemphill

Dec. 8, 1914 - Jan. 20, 2003

VIDALIA, La. - Services for Lillian Randall Hemphill, 88, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young's Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Ledford officiating.

Burial will follow in New Pine Hill cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Vidalia.

Mrs. Hemphill was born Dec. 8, 1914, in Harrisonburg.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Mrs. Hemphill was preceded in death by her husband, Word Hemphill; her father, Oscar Elias Randall; her mother, Emma Elizabeth Randall; one daughter, Earlene Gray.

Survivors include two sons, Freddie Hemphill and his wife, Marie, both of Prairieville, La., and Michael Hemphill and his wife, Lois, both of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lola Boles of Vidalia, Susan Randall of Ferriday and Lucy Williams of Vidalia; and three brothers, Alvin Randall and his wife, Edith, both of Prairieville, Herman Randall and Monroe Randall and his wife, Julia, all of Baton Rouge.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Boles, Donnie Boles, Larry Boles, Ronnie Boles, Steve Gray and Ricky Williams.

Thaddeus Edwards

FERRIDAY, La. - Funeral arrangements for Thaddeus Edwards, 39, of Waterproof, La., who died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, are incomplete at Concordia Funeral Home.

Frank Bettge Sr.

March 17, 1925 - Jan. 19, 2003

FERRIDAY, La. - Services for Frank Bettge Sr., 77, of Ferriday, La., who died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Young's Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Richardson officiating.

Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bettge was a retired gauger/pumper for Exxon. He was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Frank Bettge and Lydia Ann Bettge; a son, Frank Bettge Jr.; and two brothers, Delmer and Elmer Bettge.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Faye Bettge of Ferriday; two daughters, Kay Frances Bettge of Ferriday and Linda Faye Bowers and husband, Buddy, of Buras; a brother, Charlie Bettge of Frankston, Texas; two sisters, Emma Smith of Frankston and Anna Mae Twist of Kingsville, Texas; and a grandchild, Chris Bowers of Gretna.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Dollinda Riley Garrison

VIDALIA, La. - Funeral arrangemens for Dollinda Riley Garrison, 44, of Vidalia, La., who died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, are incomplete at Concordia Funeral Home.

Emmerline McKenzie Robinson

Emmerline McKenzie Robinson, 103, of Ashland, died Nov. 19, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of Brooks Robinson Jr. She was a member of Palestine MB Church, on the Mother board and a former usher.

Services were held at 12 noon on Nov. 25 at Samuel Chapel MB Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. James Patterson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves seven daughters, Katherine Watson, Arcie L. Harris, Mary A. Branch, all of Memphis, Tenn., Cinderella Everett of Lamar, Louisiana Robinson, Gracie M. Heard, Charlie W. Perry, all of Ashland; a son, M.C. Robinson of Ashland; 26 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by children, Collene Robinson, Ollie B. Robinson and Myra Lee Robinson.

Pallbearers were Leahmon Batts, Earl Everett, Alfred Jones, Cornelious Robinson, Maurice Batts, Major Everett, Walter Onidas, Eric Robinson, David Woods, Elvis Dixon, William Everett, Carl Robinson, Tronice Rutherford and Johnnie Woods.

Melville Buckley Sibley

Jan. 31, 1919 -- June 30, 2002

FERRIDAY, La. -- Services for Melville Buckley Sibley, 83, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Mary Anna Nursing Home in Wisner, will be at 2 p.m. today at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wayne Gray and Russell Crum officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Mr. Sibley was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Koran, La., the son of John Robert and Agnes Buckley Sibley.

He was a sales tax collector for the State Department of Revenue, was a member of First Baptist Church in Ferriday, a hunter and fisherman and was a charter member of the Rifle Point Hunting Club. He was also a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Sibley was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John R. Sibley and Paul Sibley; and an aunt, Linda Dubuisson.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie Crum Sibley of Ferriday; one son, John "Rick" Sibley of Monterey; two daughters, Karen Endres of Muenster, Texas, and Susan Tompkins of Houma, La.; one stepson, James Dinger of Natchez; two stepdaughters, Gloria Blake of Houston and Leah Dupree of Ferriday; one brother, Charles R. Sibley of Ferriday; one sister, Irma Lee Sibley Tucker of Ferriday; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh Dupree, Stephen Sibley, Richard Sibley, Chris Dupree, Jacob Endres, Jason Dinger, Michael Tompkins, Andre Klibert, Adam Klibert and Alexander Klibert.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Robertson and T.D. Taunton.
