FERRIDAY, LA - Services for Wilmuth T. Raborn, 87, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Young's Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Kevin Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in Kentwood, LA under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

She was the retail manager and co-owner of Western Auto Associates.

Ms. Raborn was preceded in death by her father, Dr. William Barrett Travis; mother, Lena Wilmuth (Yarborough) Travis; two brothers, Warren Travis and Butterworth Travis; three sisters, Vesta Tullos, Willamina Bunch and LaNell Harrell.

Survivors include daughter, Lena Bateman and husband, Hugh "Butch" of Ferriday; sister, Gladys Root of Baton Rouge, LA; grandson, James Hugh Bateman and wife, Terri of Gretna, LA; granddaughter, Amy Frances Dutruch and husband, Brad of Baton Rouge; great-grandson, Hunter Dutruch of Baton Rouge.

Pallbearers will be Dave Dickinson, Barrett Root, A.G. Root, III, Warren Travis, Jr., Harold Moak and Barrett Travis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Huey Moak, Lowery Moak, Howard William and Morris Johnson.

Lela A. Greer Sproles

WISNER, LA - Services for Lela A. Greer Sproles, 97, of Wisner, who died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Mary Anna Nursing Home Wisner, will be at 2 p.m. today at South Central Baptist Church in Wisner with the Rev. Larry Eubanks and the Rev. Mike Devillier officiating.

Burial will be in South Central cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home Winnsboro.

She was a resident of Wisner, a homemaker and a member of South Central Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sproles was preceded in death by her father, James Curtis Greer and her mother, Annie Elizabeth Greer.

Survivors include her husband, Leslie Sproles Sr. of Wisner; three sons, William Curtis King of Natchez, James Lee King of Bastrop, LA and Leslie Sproles Jr. of Wisner; two daughters, Dorothy Lee Sproles Jones of Bastrop and Shirley Elizabeth King of Wisner; three sisters, Ive Lee Gray of Ferriday, Lucille May of Johnson Station and Jeannette Thompson of Summit; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Roland Jack Gossett

Funeral arrangements for Roland Jack Gossett, 89, of Newellton, LA, who died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro, LA, are incomplete at Young's Funeral Home.

James "David" Dunn

JONESVILLE, LA - Services for James "David" Dunn, 46, of Jonesville, who died Monday, March 29, 2004, at St. Francis Cabrini Medical Center Alexandria, will be at 10 a.m. today at Wallace Ridge Pentecostal Church with Brother Norris Poole and Rev. Todd Tucker officiating.

Burial will be at Harrisonburg cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Jonesville.

Visitation will be until service time today at the church.

Burnell Barden

Aug. 6, 1921 - March 21, 2004

FERRIDAY, LA - Services for Burnell Barden, 82, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rosehill Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Freddie Schiele officiating.

Burial will be in Ferriday cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Barden was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Crystal Springs, the son of Jack and Anna Hayes.

He was a farmer.

Mr. Barden was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Harris Barden.

Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Harris, Deborah Harris and Ora Harris, all of Ferriday; one son, Melvin Thomas of Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren.

John "Paul" Jackson

MAYNA, LA - Services for John "Paul" Jackson, 36, of Jonesville, LA, who died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at Riverland Medical Center Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. today at Mayna Church of God with the Rev. Lloyd Trisler and the Rev. Bill Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Palo Alto cemetery in Mayna under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Jonesville.

Visitation will be until service time today at the church.

Jimmy Ray Hendricks

April 17, 1940 - March 25, 2004

LAKE ST. JOHN, LA - Memorial services for Jimmy Ray Hendricks, 63, of Lake St. John, who died Thursday, March 25, 2004, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hendricks' residence with Clyde Ray Webber officiating.

Burial will be in a private family ceremony under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Mr. Hendricks was born April 17, 1940, in St. Joseph, LA, the son of Leroy and Mildred G. Hendricks.

He was retired from Chevron and was a deputy for the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Department.

Mr. Hendricks was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife, Carolyn Alwood Hendricks.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Hendricks and Ben Hendricks, both of Lake St. John; three daughters, Tracy Dennig Roberts of Vidalia, LA, Donna Dennig Peterson and her husband, Scott of Rock Hill, SC and Heather Dennig of Natchez; grandchildren, Laura Hendricks of Vicksburg, Alex, Lily, Anna Bet and Sela Roberts of Vidalia and Bart and Kaci Lanehart of Carrolton, GA.

The family requests memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.

Sharon Ferdinand

Nov. 11, 1959 - March 20, 2004

VIDALIA, LA - Services for Sharon Ferdinand, 44, of Ferriday, LA, who died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at her residence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Triumph Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Shep Bethley officiating.

Burial will be in the Ferriday cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Ferdinand was born Nov. 11, 1959, in New Orleans, the daughter of Louis and Hazel Ferdinand.

She was an insurance agent for Security Plan Insurance Company.

Ms. Ferdinand was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her mother, Hazel Ferdinand of New Orleans; two sons, Charles Williams Jr. of Balch Springs, TX and Ronald K. Howe Jr. of Ferriday; one daughter, Sharron Williams of Allen, TX; three brothers, Michael Ferdinand (Pamela), Eugene Ferdinand, all of New Orleans and Shawn Ferdinand of Allen, TX; two sisters, Bonita Woods (Larry) of Natchez and Wanda F. Vaughn (Sean) of Gretna, LA.

Michael "Mike" DeWayne Guthrie

FERRIDAY, LA - Services for Michael "Mike" DeWayne Guthrie, 48, of Natchez, who died Monday, March 22, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ferriday Church of God with the Rev. Paul Burress officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

He was a member of Ferriday Church of God and the former owner of the Cottage Grocery Store in Natchez.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Skipper Guthrie of Natchez; father, W.C. Guthrie of Leslie, AR; mother, Annie Belle Guthrie of Leslie, AR; daughters, Kathrine Ann and Greg Green and Michelle Louise Guthrie, all of Natchez; brothers, Billy Guthrie of Leslie, AR and Glen Guthrie of Dolonega, GA; sister, Debbie Webb of Natchez.

Houston Lee Evans

Jan. 25, 1930 - March 22, 2004

FERRIDAY, LA - Services for Houston Lee Evans, 74, of Ferriday, who died Monday, March 22, 2004, in Alexandria, LA, will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Pentecostal Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Gary Howington officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Mr. Evans was born Jan. 25, 1930, in Book, LA, the son of John Wesley Evans and Maye Paul Evans.

He was a resident of Ferriday since 1950, was a turtle farmer and a Pentecostal. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and Louisiana Turtle Farmers Association.

Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Michael Trahan.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy L. Evans of Ferriday; son, Clifford Evans of Clayton, LA; brothers, Enzor Evans, Hilbert Evans, Marvin Evans, Johnny Evans, Acuff Evans, all of Ferriday, Nasif Evans and Delbert Evans of Foules, LA and Eddie Charles Evans of Fort Necessity, LA; sisters, Margie James of Wisner, LA and Keola Ellis of Marion, LA; grandchildren, Tanisha Evans and Clifford Evans Jr. of Ferriday, Christopher Cates of Farmerville, LA and Rayla Bailey of Sterlington, LA; four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clifford Evans Jr., Chris Cates, Tobin Hennessy, Carmen Evans, Del Evans, Johnnie "Bo" Evans, Tommy Sproles and Clifford "Mouse" Simpson.

PFC Ricky Ardel Morris Jr.

MONTEREY, LA - Services for PFC Ricky Adel Morris Jr., 20, of Lubbock, TX, formerly of Monterey, who died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in Iraq, while defending the freedoms that we enjoy today, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Magnolia-Campbell cemetery in Monterey with the Rev. Russel Crum officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.

Visitation is from noon today until service time Thursday in the Bairnsfather House at Magnolia-Campbell cemetery in Monterey.

He was a resident of Lubbock, TX formerly of Monterey, where he called home. He spent every Christmas and summer in Monterey with his family and friends. He was a Private First Class in the U.S. Marine Corps, of which he was very proud to be a Marine and serve his country.

PFC Morris was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Maxie E. Freeman.

Survivors include his father and mother, Rick and Dana Morris of Lubbock; sisters, Shorrie M. O'Dell and husband, Richard of Indianapolis, IN and Leah Morris of Monterey; brother, Max Morris of Lubbock; paternal grandfather, Houston Morris of Ozark, MO; maternal grandfather, Robert W. Freeman of West Monroe, LA.

Pallbearers will be the U.S. Marine Corps.

Honorary pallbearers will be Max Morris, Richard O'Dell, Kirk Bairnsfather, Rich Luss, Heath Dunigan, Phillip Bryan, Tom Tiffee, A.J. Smith, Cliff Hamilton and Jeff Bairnsfather.

Betty Jean Yakey

VIDALIA -- Services for Betty Jean Yakey, 73, who died Friday, March 19, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Young's Funeral Home with Rev. Karl Wilson officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Young's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Yakey was a housekeeper and a member of the Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Yakey; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Cohea; a son, Jimmy Yakey and a daughter, Patti Yakey.

Survivors include one son, Robert and his wife Ann Yakey of Vidalia; two daughters, Pam and her husband Doug Whitehead of Natchez and Sandra and husband Pete Buenker of Illinois; three granddaughters, Laura Yakey, Kristina Yakey and Leslie Sparling; three grandsons, Jeremy Yakey, Michael Yakey and Rick Sparling; and one great granddaughter and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Michael Yakey, Jeremy Yakey, Jason Eliot, Guy Murray, Chad Boyette and Mathis Waller.

William Case Crossgrove Jr.

FERRIDAY -- Services for William Case Crossgrove Jr., 86, who died Thursday, March 18, 2004 at his home, will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Young's Funeral Home with Rev. A.A. Haymon Jr. officiating

Burial will follow at Legion Memorial cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Crossgrove was a resident of St. Joseph and a member of the St. Joseph Baptist Church and Buckhorn Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Moore Crossgrove; his father William Case Crossgrove Sr.; his mother Annie Elizabeth Crossgrove; a son, William Case Crossgrove III; four sisters, Annie Brown Bennett, Emma Lee Davidson, Mary Ophelia Haymon and Almyra Anna Streibich and one brother, James "Jim" Bryant Crossgrove.

Survivors include two daughters, Lyndle Perritt and husband Allen of St. Joseph and Billy Ramsey and husband David of Charleston, W.Va.; three granddaughters Ashley Perritt Dodson and husband David of Commerce, Ga., Mollie Perrit Cruse and husband Chris of Winnsboro, La., and Adrienne C. Palermo and husband Nick of Jackson, Tenn.; one grandson, Allen Lawrence Perritt Jr. and wife Toni of St. Joseph, La.; six great grandchildren, Allen Lawrence Perritt III, David Troy Dodson, Sidney Case Dodson, Adam Tyler Perritt, Marguerite Taylor Cruse and Kaitlyn Moore Palermo; and one sister, Evolyn Josephine McMullen of Deridder, La.

Pallbearers will be Harold Kirkpatrick Jr., Michael Kirkpatrick, Cecil Hawkes, Mark Davidson, John Bennet Day and Paul Schauf.
