Cecily Reimmuth Ramer, a retired insurance underwriter, died Saturday of breast cancer at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. She was 58. Mrs. Ramer was born in New Orleans and lived in Westlake, Toledo and Olmsted, Ohio, for the past nine years. She was a retired insurance underwriter for Ohio Casualty. Survivors include a son, Justin Ramer of North Ridgeville, Ohio; a daughter, Dorothy Cromer of Genoa, Ohio; a sister, Thais R. Tooke; and four grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at noon at Sunset Memorial Park, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Dostal Funeral Service, North Olmsted, is in charge of arrangements.

NAPOLITANO, SALVADOR ‘SAM' JOSEPH SR.
September 16, 2002

Salvador "Sam" Joseph Napolitano Sr., a retired stagehand, died Friday at his home. He was 86. Mr. Napolitano was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for many years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local Union No. 39. Survivors include a son, Salvador Napolitano Jr.; a stepson, Charles Crosson; two stepdaughters, Paulette Crosson and Winona Dykes; a brother, Peter C. Napolitano; a sister, Marie Napolitano; two grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at noon at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m.

McTAGUE, WILLIAM
September 16, 2002

William McTague, a retired accountant, died Thursday at East Jefferson Hospital. He was 79. Mr. McTague was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 46 years. He was an agent for the Internal Revenue Service for 28 years and had worked as an accountant for Kentwood Spring Water for 15 years. He was an Army sergeant during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 6640 and American Legion Post No. 203. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Eiserloh McTague; a son Brian John McTague; two daughters, Maureen McTague Hertz and Colleen McTague Muhoberal; a sister, Patricia McTague Tusa; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 1 p.m. at Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home, 1717 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Garden of Memories.

GILBERT, GAYLE TYLER
September 16, 2002

Gayle Tyler Gilbert, a medical transcriptionist, died Saturday of cardiopulmonary arrest at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. She was 49. Ms. Gilbert was born in Laurel, Miss., and lived in Covington for the past 10 years. Survivors include her fiance, James Cross Jr.; a son, Jason Gilbert; a daughter, Jessica Gilbert; her mother, Helen Robichaux Tyler of Mandeville; and two sisters, Jo Preston and Kaye Tyler. A memorial service will be held today at 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church of the Servant, 701 Florida St., Mandeville. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

HOLLINGSWORTH, EDWARD
September 16, 2002

Edward Hollingsworth, a truck driver, died Wednesday of a heart attack at Meadowcrest Hospital. He was 59. Mr. Hollingsworth was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He was an Army veteran. He was a driver for Sysco Food Service. Survivors include his wife, Sheila Ott Hollingsworth; four sons, Brandon, Israel, Menelek and Edward Hollingsworth Jr.; two daughters, Wendy and Daphne Hollingsworth; three sisters, Lillie Brady, Mary Johnson and Carol Jackson; and many grandchildren. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 4700 Pineda St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BROWN, AUGUSTUS A. ‘GUS' III
September 16, 2002

Augustus A. "Gus" Brown III, a retired school bus driver, died Saturday of a heart attack at his home. He was 64. Mr. Brown was born in New Orleans and lived in Jefferson Parish for the past 30 years. He was a retired bus driver for the Jefferson Parish school system. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, where he served as a lance corporal. He was a volunteer for St. Joseph's Church's Feed the Homeless program. Survivors include his wife, Virginia M. Brown; two sons, Mark A. and Michael A. Brown; two daughters, Marie V. Menard and Karen A. Sketteno; a sister, Barbara Sonnier; and eight grandchildren. A Mass will be said Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Church, 6500 Kawanee Ave, Metairie. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie. Burial will be at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.

ALFORD, GLENN A. SR.
September 16, 2002

Glenn A. Alford Sr., a retired Louisiana State Police lieutenant, died Saturday at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was 83. Mr. Alford was born in Tangipahoa Parish and lived in Covington for the past 61 years. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Givens Alford; two sons, John and Glenn Alford Jr; four daughters, Nancy A. Kynerd, Susan A. Monlezun, Mary Lou Alford and Carolyn A. Ward; a sister, Warrene A. Pierce; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington. Visitation will begin at noon. Burial will be at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

WILSON, GEORGE WILLIAM
September 6, 2002

George William Wilson, a retired longshoreman and freight handler, died Saturday of a stroke at Touro Infirmary. He was 75. Mr. Wilson was born in Port Gibson, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for the past 51 years. He graduated from Claiborne Country High School. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and for more than 20 years was the Sunday school superintendent. He attended the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education for 30 years, was a former president of the Layman Movement of Ideal Missionary Baptist Association and a member of Longshoreman Local Union No. 854 and had served on the board of directors of its credit union. Survivors include his wife, Ruth N. Newton; two sons, Derek G., and Keith R. Wilson Sr.; a brother, Charles Wilson of Aurora, Ill.; two sisters, Pearl Smith of Vicksburg, Miss., and Mary Murray; and five grandchildren. A tribute service will be held today at 7 p.m. at Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church, 2308 S. Liberty St. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. and Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park. D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WATSKY, MARTIN S.
September 6, 2002

Martin S. Watsky, a retired pharmacist, died Thursday at his home. He was 81. Mr. Watsky was born in Romania, lived in New Orleans for 73 years and in Metairie for the past six years. He graduated from Tulane University, attended Tulane School of Law and graduated from Loyola Pharmaceutical School. He was a former employee of Pharmaceutical Dose Service, Pharm America and K&B; drugstores for 35 years. He served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Windsor. He was a member of B'nai B'rith, Louisiana Pharmacy Association, Jewish War Veterans, Congregation Beth Israel and Shir Chadesh Congregation. Survivors include his wife, Shir A. Rosenberg Watsky; two sons, David Watsky of Dallas and Steven Watsky of New Orleans; two daughters, Leslie Duncan Benner of El Segundo, Calif., and Cherie R. Lampert of Metairie; two stepsons, Alex Axinn of Memphis and Gerald Axinn of New Orleans; a stepdaughter, Eva Meyers of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two sisters, Sylvia Brooks and Lee Goldberg of Cleveland; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held today at 1 p.m. at The New Beth Israel cemetery, 4444 Elysian Fields Ave. Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

VAUGHN, JAMES HILTON
September 6, 2002

James Hilton Vaughn, a bail bondsman, died Monday of cancer at Memorial Medical Center. He was 67. Mr. Vaughn was born in Boothville and lived in New Orleans. He worked for Steve's Bail Bonds. He was a charter member and past president of the Big Easy Kiwanis Club. He was a member of James Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Becnel Vaughn of Vacherie; five daughters, Donna Murray of Luling, Allison Winston of Thibodaux, Susan Bailey, Marilyn Vaughn and Patranella Vaughn, all of Vacherie; a brother, Ross Vaughn Jr.; nine sisters, Glenda Rayford of Downey, Calif., Angela, Irene, Lula and Jacquelyn Vaughn, Ruby Shuff, Joycelyn Santa Marina, Janice Wright and Leeander Ray; and nine grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at James Chapel Baptist Church, 4201 Thalia St. Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Tilly's Funeral Home, 2831 St. Claude Ave., and Saturday at 8 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Park.

Billie Wayne Thomas Sr., a carpenter, died Monday of congestive heart failure at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur, Ga. He was 59. Mr. Thomas was born in New Orleans, lived in Gretna for 44 years and in Atlanta for the past 15 years. Survivors include his wife, Vernetta Wells Thomas; two sons, Kendrick and Billie W. Thomas Jr.; two daughters, Tonia Thomas and Margaret Simmons; his mother, Leola Jones Thomas; two sisters, Nedra Clark and Dennis Jones; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A funeral will be held Saturday at noon at Murray Henderson Funeral Home, 1209 Teche St., Algiers. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in McDonoghville cemetery in Gretna.

Aurolyn Veronica Taylor-Coleman, a veterinarian's assistant, died Monday of congestive heart failure at St. Claude Medical Center. She was 55. Mrs. Taylor-Coleman was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She graduated from Joseph S. Clark Senior High School and a veterinary school in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle Church and a member of the Heights of Life Social and Pleasure Club. Survivors include her husband, McKinley Coleman; a daughter, Lana Veronica Coleman; a brother, Willie Earl Morris; two sisters, Dolores Belton and Brenda Savoy; and a grandchild. A Mass will be said Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 3333 Clouet St. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Professional Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

SPARKMAN, DIANNE
September 6, 2002

Dianne Sparkman, a laborer, died Sunday of respiratory failure at West Jefferson Medical Center. She was 42. Ms. Sparkman was born in Auburn, Miss., and lived in New Orleans for the past 36 years. Survivors include her stepfather, John Black Jr.; four brothers, John, Mac Arthur, David and Ernest Sparkman Jr.; and three sisters, Bobbie Rainley, Carline Owens and Gladys Jackson. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Majestic Mortuary, 1833 Oretha C. Haley Blvd. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Providence Park cemetery.
